I also loved seeing and knowing who was staying with us when I was at the Four Seasons. We had tv show casts stay with us, movie casts, I have seen athletes, Justin Timberlake in person, etc..I loved it. I worked directly for the GM so got all the good dirt and stuff. We had a celebrity try to make advances on a massage therapist and get booted out, etc.
@scottishlass1213 MOD weekends were the WORST. My boss made us work until 10 on our MOD shifts but we couldn't come in later so we were working 8a-10p and then we were on call all night. At least we didn't have to stay there! My exH would have killed me!
What is your current gig? I'm a certified public accountant currently working in private industry for a large company (you'd know it so I won't mention it).
Did you go to school for it? Yup, I did a 5 year combined bachelors/masters degree program in accounting.
What was your first job? Worked at The Gap in high school and LOVED it. Any money I made I spent on clothes but still. Retail full time would be a nightmare but it's great part time work in high school and college.
What was your worst job? Public accounting. And that's saying a lot because I waited tables in the summers during college (but it was an outdoor restaurant on the beach which made it tolerable). When I was in public I was on the road living out of hotels more than 40% of the year and I just got depressed doing it. I love to travel, but this was all to shitty places. I did, however, rack up enough airline miles and hotel points for 2 two week European vacations flying business class and staying in expensive hotels for free, so I guess that was nice. Switching to industry accounting is way better, I work from home 3 days a week and in the office twice and hardly any overtime at all. I'll take it.
What is your dream job? If I could make this amount of money as a travel agent I'd do that in a second. I love planning trips for myself and other people. That, or I'd like to take over Hoda Kotb's old job on the 10:00 hour of the today show, because getting drunk and screwing around with KLG every morning and getting paid millions of dollars to do so looks like a blast.
@calimom2524 My DH could stay in the room with me (this was before kids) and then we got to have free dinner so basically he stayed in the room and watched all the movies while I kept getting called out for parties or guest issues haha.
I can't justify that now. I'm too spoiled in my Mon-Fri, 8:30 - 4PM, work from home if I need to job haha
I'm loving seeing what everyone does for a living! We have an amazingly diverse group of ladies here!
What is your current gig? I work in cyber security now but I was a system administrator (Unix / Linux) for 13 years before making the switch
Did you go to school for it? Sort of lol! I was in the Army for 8 years. My system administrator work while I was in the military translated to the civilian world.
What was your first job? Retail - I worked at Ross for I think 3 months before I was fired. I was a terrible employee
What was your worst job? I was a telephone marketer but not the kind that sold stuff. I did the surveys lol! Like do you prefer Wendys or Arbys. I think I lasted about 6 months in that job
What is your dream job? If money were no issue I'd love to either stay home or do volunteer work with the VA office
What is your current gig? SAHM, freelance vocalist, previously an elementary general music teacher.
Did you go to school for it? Yeah. I have a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy and then completed a post-bacc program to get my teaching license.
What was your first job? Besides babysitting, I worked in a retail clothing store. My favorite job was working in a candy store in college!
What was your worst job? An accounting temp at a car rental place. So boring.
What is your dream job? Someone earlier said they are mid 30s and don’t know what they want to do and that’s me, too. These sound fun, though: Travel blogger HS choir director Radio host/DJ Event planner
What is your current gig? SAHWM - I sell LipSense/Senegence and co-own a small Coffee roasting company with DH called Starship Coffee - we specialize in high end high caffeinated coffee. I also dabble in art things, and try to sell them lol.
Did you go to school for it? No. I went to school for marketing and advertising. I wish I would have got a degree in something else but I just wanted to get a degree where I could make a decent living...but then the economy tanked. Should hve just got an art degree!
What was your first job? Served at a retirement home. Lots of fun talking with the people and we got to eat the food which was pretty decent!
What was your worst job? I did data entry one summer for my moms old company and that sucked ass. I couldn’t imagine doing that all day every day for work.
What is your dream job? I have no idea. I’m so lost. I’m about to be 33. I feel like I should know what I want to do with my life. Now though I’m pretty much stuck being a SAHWM for the next 5 years with this baby on the way. No way we can afford 2 in daycare where we live. It’s one of the highest for cost in the US. Ridiculous.
@legallykate I worked at Old Navy in college too! We loved talking trash about the customers on those headsets lol
I got sooo busted on my headset one time. I was talking to my coworker in the dressing room and bitching about our manager and was unknowingly leaning up against the counter thing and broadcasting to all the employees in the store. SOOOO embarrassing.

Did you go to school for it? No. I have my bachelors in Operations Management a minor in accounting and a masters in HR Management
What was your first job? Ride operator at an amusement park
What was your worst job? I would have to say working in the pharmacy department for my current employer (processing prior authorizations for medications)
What is your dream job? depends on the day. I honestly have no idea. I’d love to get a job in HR however I refuse to try and get one with my current company. Plus my current job allows me to work from home daily which is nice living an hour from the office and having a toddler and a baby on the way.
@lolog531 there is always PTA school! Much shorter program and most are not full day. The OTA program I did had a PTA sister program. Sometimes I wonder why I didn’t go that route after doing athletic training for so long, but I love my special needs kids in the OT world.
Infectious disease epidemiologist for state government, working on reportabke diseases, and outbreaks.
Did you go to school for it? BS in Health Sciences, Masters in Public Health, with concentrations in Epidemiology and Health Management and Policy
What was your first job? Lifeguard at a waterpark
What was your worst job? Bartended at a college bar, during undergrad. It paid fantastically, the only downsides were having drinks constantly spilled on you, being hit on, and having a manager that insisted that on serving people no matter how drunk they already were.
What is your dream job? I can honestly say I love my job, and that it is pretty close to a dream job, especially with the benefits I have. I would love to work for the US Public Health Service one day, maybe after DH retires from the military.
@ecwk@Firemanswife11 the outbreak of Ebola showed me that while a zombie apocalypse may not be realistic, its completely realistic for a disease to cause countries to fall apart, and that these diseases can even spread in US healthcare systems. Heck look at the flu this year. Its so fascinating to me, and never a dull day.
@nll0803 I primarily do weather-related emergency management (tornadoes, yay) but a small portion of my job involves training volunteers to be able to mass vax our entire population. I hope we never have to do that.
Job interview in college for this cafe type place. They asked me to describe my “ideal bus” and I laughed because I thought they were joking and they were serious so I described my ideal bus. Then they looked at me like I was crazy and said “no, describe your ideal BOSS”. I did not get that job.

Rarely do I actually laugh out loud when I say lol but this time...lol.
What is your current gig? I’m a doctor and scientific researcher at an academic healthcare center. Like @doctormom33 it’s pretty niche specialty and I won’t provide too many details here for privacy reasons.
Did you go to school for it? Haha, yes. I did SEVENTEEN YEARS of education and training after HS. That’s terrifying when I count it all up! I’m not sure I’ve done that before.
What was your first job? Babysitting
What was your worst job? As a college student I worked for 4 days selling vacuum cleaners door-to-door with Electrolux. I learned very quickly that I do not have the personality for sales.
What is your dream job? My current job is pretty much my dream job, though I wish it came with more job security (much of what I do is dependent on government grants and those are few and far between these days)

What is your current gig? I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therspist and a Licensed Mental Counselor. I did therapy for 6 years with people who struggle with addiction and their families. My current position is managing the grant funds for substance abuse and mental health facilities, to ensure they are utilizing the grant funds appropriately. It is a interesting time with this Opioid epidemic.
Did you go to school for it? Yep I have a Bachelors in Business Management and a Master’s in Mental Health counseling and Marriage and Family therapy.
What was your first job? Sonic I started as a car hop and made my way through the whole restaurant. Pretty much did every position.
What was your worst job? I worked at a dental continuing education school. Dentist are a** holes. They have a complex because they don’t get the respect they feel they deserve in the medical field. They made the job suck.
What is your dream job? I am not sure I always wanted to be a therapist and now that I have done that I wonder what else is out there. I think I would like to go back into private practice in the future. I did part time/second job before my DD was born, but it was too much when she came. It just isn’t consistent pay and insurance companies reimburse crap.
@legallykate I worked at Old Navy in college too! We loved talking trash about the customers on those headsets lol

That happened to me once when I worked at American Eagle, except me and my friend were telling each other 'Lord of the Rings' jokes. So then everyone knew we were giant nerds.

What was your first job? I nannied throughout college, but my first post-college job was teaching Pre-K. I did that until I had DS1 and quit to stay home with him.
What was your worst job? I worked at a terrible preschool while I was in college. They were understaffed and totally breaking the law with teacher/child ratio limits! I spoke out against it multiple times and then finally quit.

@hezzer78 I have a master's in Educational Psychology, too!
What is your current gig?
I am a data manager in the college of education at a university.
Did you go to school for it?
Yep! I have a BS in psychology, an MA in Educational Psychology, and most of a PhD in Educational Psychology. I just have to write that damn dissertation...
Then again, all of my coworkers have degrees in things like anthropology and art history. So the education isn't exactly necessary. But I'm hoping to be in charge of all of them soon, if I ever finish the doctorate.
What was your first job?
Teacher assistant at a preschool. It was fun!
What was your worst job?
Research assistant in a psychology lab. We did experiments with rats, and I really struggled with it. I also became very allergic to rats.
What is your dream job?
I think what I'm doing now, but with a whole lot more influence. I feel like there are a lot of changes we could make to prepare better teachers, but our faculty is pretty traditional. The job is already really flexible and pretty good money. I certainly wouldn't turn down shorter hours and more money, though.
What is your current gig? I work pseudo-retail with an emphasis on services. I fix computers.
Did you go to school for it? No. I went to college for a year studying Environmental Science, but it didn't pan out for me.
What was your first job? I was a tour guide at a cavern. Most fun job I've had to date!
What was your worst job? Um, the portrait studio in Sears. It got increasingly more stressful with sales goals, there were never enough appointments and I hated harrassing people with cold calls and randomly trying to pull people from the store for impromptu photo shoots, and being expected to guilt them into spending money. One day I showed up for my shift and the studio was torn down. Company went under with zero notice--at least none that was provided to me. I got pretty good with the camera and post-processing though!
What is your dream job? Now? SAHM. Maternity leave was the best, hoping someday to cut the cord on my current job and either work from home doing something I'm passionate about or just not worry about income in general. Hah!
Did you go to school for it? Nopppe, unless you count the welding classes I took. But that was before I got this job. But! Having those certificate Helped me land this job..
What was your first job? Worked in a city park
What was your worst job? Mmm, don't really have one. Went from the city, to waitressing, to a Production job, then to this one. I've liked them all
What is your dream job? Someday I would like to think I could convince myself to go to school for computers. And end up with a job I can worm from home with and still .ale good money
What is your current gig? I’m an RN in a busy level 1 trauma center. I work in the ER.
Did you go to school for it? Yes - BSN. It was awful and expensive.
What was your first job? Target. It was a terrible experience and I got sexually harassed by my 29 year old boss (I was 16). He literally looked my address up on company files and then parked outside my house. When my parents went to target over the issue they threatened to terminate me because my boss said I had “lead him on”. It was a bad experience.
What was your worst job? I’ve had a LOT of bad jobs. Any retail job is pretty high up there.
What is your dream job? I wish I could work part time doing what I do now. I love fixing people in their worst moments. Unfortunately it’s rarely that good though. I would also love to find a work from home job that pays decent - I’ve been looking for two years and haven’t gotten anywhere.
What is your current gig? own and design my own clothing line, all made in the USA. Side gig: manager of an online vintage store, I do the photography, copy writing, shipping and customer service, it’s too much.
Did you go to school for it?
yes for fashion design, minor in textile design.
What was your first job? Baskin Robbins
What was your worst job? Tie between Baskin Robbins and this TERRIBLE pizza place I worked at in NY. Both places my bosses set up cameras and would spy on the employees, psycho. I mean I get being paranoid but just watch the videos if something bad happens, like missing money from the till.
What is your dream job?
I love what I’m doing now, it’s a lot of work owning my own business and making things happen but it’s super exciting. Can’t wajt to quit the vintage side gig once baby comes.
What is your current gig? I am a governmental accountant. Basically I do a lot of grants, auditing, and budgeting for government programs.
Did you go to school for it? Yes. Got my BA in accounting and my CPA.
What was your first job? I was a tutor for fourth grade kids while in highschool and college. After that I have worked where I work now
What was your worst job? Being a tutor. I was not cut out to teach... other people's kids anger me.
What is your dream job? I think my dream job would be working with animals like running a rescue ranch or volunteering in Africa at a sanctuary. That would be so awesome.

working retail. I hated it. I’m pretty terrible at selling stuff.
What is your dream job?
Probably a yoga teacher or opening my own studio. I’m a long way from that though!
Baby #2 - March 2017
own and design my own clothing line, all made in the USA.
Happy Valentine’s Day y’all!
