Just got back from my first appointment, I'm at 10+3, they did an ultrasound (I had no idea), and so now things feel way more real.
They want to start progesterone injections in a few weeks, and I'm trying to convince them to let my husband do them at home, because getting out there weekly just isn't going to happen. Not thrilled about it anyway. They're already taking a much more...medicalized approach than I'm really feeling. Shocked when I told them I'm good without JFK the screening tests until the anatomy scan-we're low risk for those things so I'm OK waiting. If baby has down syndrome we can find out later amd still be prepared. Idk, might see if I can find another office.
We're still interviewing home birth midwives, because our plan is two case providers-hoping for home birth, but if risks get too high we need a backup plan and I'd rather a long term relationship with them.

@pourmeamocktail Why would they have you start on progesterone so late? I thought it was supposed to provide a boost until the placenta fully takes over at about 12 weeks.

My son was born at 35 weeks, so they're worried about pre term birth, different type of progesterone. I don't have a loss history, so not worried about it until 16 weeks.

I'm super excited cause I DON'T have any appointments for the next two weeks! Between this pregnancy and all my kid's preschool plagues we've been back and forth to the doctor like twice a week for the past 3 weeks. I'm am so happy to be appointment free for just a little bit!!!
I have my medical/OB history appointment with the OB nurse tomorrow. Nothing exciting. We should schedule my NT scan though which I'm looking forward to finally having an u/s.

I have an OB exam tomorrow. I guess they will do a pelvic exam and all that jazz. They did a dating ultrasound two weeks ago. I had some very minimal spotting last week, so I am very anxious to get confirmation that everything is okay.
We have our new patient orientation tonight, and my US and 8 week checkup tomorrow morning!! I can't wait to see this little peanut -- hoping all goes well!
Married to DH for 6 years (together for 16) DS born 12.13.14 DD born 10.15.16 BFP 1.24.18, MC 3.13.18 BFP 4.25.19, EDD 12.31.19
I have my NT scan on Thursday. DH will be home with DD so my mom is coming with me (I only let her come when DH can’t, but she loves coming to the u/s’s). I can’t wait to see the little squish again!
Had my first appointment this morning with ultrasound and history with an NP. Appointment went well! Was a bit miffed that DH didn't go with me because he's sick, but no way was I about to bring his pathetic coughing butt into an office full of pregnant people; multiple staff members thanked me.
Baby is measuring right on track at 9+1, saw the heart flickering away, didn't get to hear it. Scheduled my first tri screening for March 13th; will check into insurance to see what is covered and then decide if I'll keep it or not. Also found out one of the OB's left the practice which is a bummer, so they have a temporary one covering but might add her on full time, we'll see.
This may be silly, but I’m sort of freaking out about something. I went for my first appt at 8 weeks, met with the NP, and was told I wouldn’t see the actual doctor until much later in my pregnancy. Last week I went in for the Panorama and all the genetic testing. My next appt is next week at 12 weeks, and I assumed I’d get the results then. I am honestly very nervous about these results. I’m only 35 but the NP spent a lot of time talking about chromosomal abnormalities, etc.
I called today to change my appointment time and found out that my appt is not with the NP, but I’ll be meeting the doctor. I’m probably overreacting but I’m a little hysterical - why would it be with the doctor if there wasn’t something in the test results??
@ashh2018 My OB's office told me they like to make sure patients meet with the doctor before they exit the first trimester - last time around I saw my OB at every single appointment and she is a super popular OB in our area, so I would assume it's totally normal to be seeing the doctor at 12 weeks. FX all is well with the results!
Me: 32 DH: 32 BFP #1: 1/23/2012 DD: Born 9/20/2012 BFP #2: 12/30/2017 DS: Due 9/10/2018
@ashh2018 I'm sorry, that sounds weird both a) to not see a doctor until so late and b) that they'd randomly change things on you. Any time I have a test, I always review the results with a doctor. Hopefully between it being normal to see a doctor earlier on, and that you're just reviewing a test in general, there's nothing abnormal about it. I hope you're able to find something to take your mind off it though...keep us posted.
@ashh2018 I'm sorry they are giving you the run around. I agree it's strange you wouldn't meet the doctor until later. I'm meeting a doctor at every appointment and should meet with every OB in the practice(8 of them) prior to delivery in case my normal doctor isn't on call. I don't think you should be worried at all that the doctor is giving you the results. I would think that would be the norm!
I had my first trimester appointment with the OB this morning. I've had two prior ultrasounds with the RE and this was my first appointment with OB since graduating. It felt good to be back in the OBs office. We did blood panel genetic testing, pap, and physical exam. We also got to do a bedside ultrasound but the machine was new and they couldn't figure out how to turn the volume on for the heartbeat! We could see it flickering away though. Nothing like getting my nerves settled by seeing the babe.
I have my first ultrasound appointment on Thursday (8 weeks, 5 days)! I can't wait- it will definitely make things more real once I see the heartbeat! Good luck to everyone with their appointments.

I had my first appointment with the MFM today. It went really well! Baby A was being a little difficult in the ultrasound and Baby B tried to steal all the spotlight so the ultrasound took a little longer. We also met with a genetics Counsler and she was very informative as well. My MFM told me to prepare myself for a likely C-section (which I had a feeling). Between all the appointments and people we met with we were there for 4 hours! Overall we had a good experience and will be there again in a month. Next week I have my second appointment with my OB.
Me (29) + DH (30) | Dating 2003 | Married 2008 DS - 02/21/2016
I’m less upset about not meeting the doctor until later (what they originally told me) and more concerned about why I AM meeting the doctor now. I guess I’m just nervous about these results and am assuming that they switched my appt from np to dr because there’s something big in the results. I’m sort of catastrophizing now.
@ashh2018 No catastrophizing. No. We don't worry until the doctor tells us to worry. Easier said than done, but you'll get enough heartburn from being pregnant anyway and you don't need to add to it. Deep breaths, stay calm. It's totally normal to meet the doc at this point and I think the NP just misspoke/relayed the info weird about when it would happen. At my last practice the NP did everything before 8 weeks and the doc(s) did everything after. If you had crazy test results they'd most likely have you meet with a geneticist or maybe the MFM doc. Try to stay calm, yes?
To add to @stothi, and I hope you don't take what either of us said as dismissive because you're feeling real feelings, but I always tell myself worrying won't change anything, and everything is fine until I'm told otherwise!! Not that those words remove the anxiety, but they help me put it in perspective/focus on other things.
Thank you @stothi. I know I sound like a nut. I’m a little embarrassed at my nutty-ness, but still glad I posted so you and others could talk me down from it haha. I just hate waiting! Ugh. Lol.
@ashh2018 I'm seconding what @stothi said. Try not to worry, girl! How much longer do you have to wait for this appointment?
My first appointment was supposed to be tomorrow, but I have been bleeding/cramping since Saturday, so I was able to get in this morning. **TW** Ultrasound showed NOTHING in my uterus, so they told me it could be: a) an ectopic pregnancy, b) that I already miscarried or c) that I conceived much later than I thought I did and I am not far enough along for anything to show up on US. **END TW** While I would love to believe it's the latter, I just don't think it is. They drew blood for betas today and I have a follow-up on Wednesday for another draw. We should know the outcome on Thursday.
@Patience7150 I didn’t think it was dismissive! You’re absolutely right. I was spiraling into my crazy, and you’re all right that there’s no sense in worrying.
@clbness I am so hoping for good news for you, please keep us posted!

No worries! Waiting is hard, I think we all understand that. Hang in there, mama.
@clbness I hope you're just not as far along as you thought. FX for a good outcome.

@ashh2018 I see my OB at every appt. Just my opinion but I feel like if my OB saw something abnormal on my screening she would tell me sooner, not wait until the next appt. Hopefully everything is ok but I would try not to worry.
I have a second appointment with my regular obgyn for ultrasound and also my 1st appointment with MFM on the 15th. I am just looking forward to seeing the twins again.
I had my OB Appt yesterday. After sonograms at 6, 8, and 10 weeks I think I’ll go through withdrawal waiting to see him again until 16. Ha. He did refer me to MFM and wants them to do a 12 week sono. Not sure if that one will be with a tech or an MD. I love that my OB does all his own sonos - he points out landmarks on the screen and I can ask questions and record video.
Blood drawn yesterday. Now the two week wait for NIPT results begins!
I had my 8 week US and checkup yesterday. Baby was measuring at 6w 4d (we thought I was 7w 6d) so I have to go back in 2 weeks for a dating US. But we did see our tiny little Grain of Rice's heartbeat (96 bpm) so that's good!
Married to DH for 6 years (together for 16) DS born 12.13.14 DD born 10.15.16 BFP 1.24.18, MC 3.13.18 BFP 4.25.19, EDD 12.31.19
I had my first US today at 9 weeks 4 days. We saw our wiggly little one. We met with my OB after my US appointment and all went really well until the end of Drs appointment when she told me "try not to worry about what the ultra sound tech's comment about the baby's neck." I didn't know what she was talking about and she thought the tech had made a comment to me about it -which she hadn't. Apparently the tech felt that the baby had too thick of a neck (fluid or whatever) but the OB said she is not certified to look for that and it is too early so not to worry... we will do genetic tests next week since i am 36 years old.
I am really trying to listen to her advice not to worry. but it is hard. google doesn't help either..
