Re: TTCAL week of 12/02/18
Rave - Got back from a week away in a cabin with a hot tub which was lovely and we also finally replaced our broken TV after months of trying to decide on one.
Rant - My mental health has just been ridiculous lately. I thought a relaxing week away would help but it just seems to be spiralling so I’m sure it’s not situational depression and more chemical depression which is going to be fun to deal with.
CraftyG Sorry for the depression and emotional pain you're feeling! Do you have a therapist? I went to one (well, several, I had to find the 'right' one) and still go and I LOVE her!!!! Best decision ever.

@dpjennifer I'm sorry your last cycle didn't work out. What movie are you going to go see?
@kindbytealikat Like you, I put my career 'on hold' thinking I would have a baby relatively quickly. Now that it hasn't happened, I've decided to not hold back, if we want to move to a new house, or if a new job pops up, I'm going for it and any future pregnancy/baby will just have to fit into that. It's taken me a long time to realize that, though.
WTO. H wants to take a break this cycle but I don’t really want to. Hoping we can compromise by just HIO once or twice during FW.
No plans. We’re lame.

My DD keeps making drawings with me, MH, her, and a baby. We didn't tell her about the losses, so part of me thinks this is a phase or that lots of kids in her daycare are talking about babies. Either way, it's very hard to hear.
coco2787 Good luck deciding what to do this cycle. Sometimes people bounce back pretty quickly. But if you think you need time off emotionally, it's best to take a cycle or two to breathe. Sometimes even if you aren't 'really' trying, emotionally seeing that BFN when you became hopeful deep down (even if you didn't KNOW you were hopeful) can be shattering.

@CraftyG I hope you are able to figure things out re: your mental health. It can be such a struggle to have either chemical or situation depression or anxiety.
@dpjennifer Sorry to hear that it didn't work out for you last month. Sometimes diet cheat days are needed!
@kindbytealikat I have those up and down weeks too for seemingly no reason. It's tough. Good luck at your follow up appointment.
@Chloandcoco Those milestones are so hard. I went to Ikea the other day and it seemed like every visibly pregnant woman in the city was there. It's good that you and YH can have that talk. I find it can be so hard to discuss the "what ifs".
@coco2787 I hope you get some time to process things. Fingers crossed that your OB has some answers for you.
@dpjennifer I’m so sorry this cycle was a bust for you. Are you doing the fertility diet?
@kindbytealikat I hate that some days are just so much harder and you aren’t even sure why. I blame hormones. I’m so sorry you are feeling discouraged. Loss not only messes you up emotionally, but it also messes up life plans. It’s so discouraging. *Hugs* Good for you for working out! I also ask my DH to get me chocolate covered strawberries every year. He always wants to buy them at the grocery store and I’m like no no no. I want them from the fancy chocolate shop. #notsorry
@coco2787 I’m so sorry you are struggling right now.

@chloandcoco I know what you mean about feeling exhausted by entering the FW. When you see the BFP, you think you’ve put all that crap behind you and then the whole exhausting process starts again. I'm so sorry

How are things going? What is something that you are struggling with this week? What is going well for you this week? R/R? I’ve felt so pessimistic about life this week. I have always had mild seasonal depression so I know being trapped indoors is partly to blame. I wish I could know if I’ll ever have another baby. If it’s not in our cards, I just want to move on from this dream and put my energy into something else like going back to school.
Any testing coming up/any recent results? DH and I have been back and forth between going to see an RE. I scheduled the appointment and then cancelled it. We had a long talk and I tried to explain to him that seeing an RE would really help put my mind at ease. I just want to do all I can to prevent this from happening again. We rescheduled the appointment for tomorrow.

@CraftyG A week away with a cabin and a hot tub sounds like heaven! Sorry about the depression, its like fighting air sometimes.
@ChloandCoco that is super hard, I have 2 people due near where I was and I kind of have to shut myself off to the milestones. Saying that I got a bit teary just seeing a pregnanct lady in the supermarket so hey ho.
@coco2787 I have to say I have been considering it too, I just think I expected to be 'fine' too soon, and expected DH to be the same. Saying that I'm not sure that I would truly not be 'trying'.
@bakerstreetboys I did the same thing after mine, so impatient to know that I was at least a little bit normal. Hopefully it comes soon so you can get back on track.
We have never done much for Valentine's day. We.are planning to go to one of our favorite restaurants, but it won't probably be for another week or two. We decided on no gifts or anything this year. We are both trying to eat healthier and all.
@kindbytealikat, I hope all goes well with your upcoming appointments.i am sorry you are having a rough time.
That's great about working out. I have been trying to workout more, which I can usually convince myself to do, but am struggling with emotional eating, so it is counteracting it poorly. Lol.
@coco2787, I hope you get answers at your appointment. I completely understand the different feelings with losses. My 1st was so much harder emotionally, but maybe I never had time to process this one since everything just kept going wrong after.
@dpjennifer sorry this last cycle was a no-go
@kindbytealikat I'm sorry last week was rough for you. I hate how the emotions come out of nowhere sometimes. I hope everything goes well at your follow up appointment
@ChloandCoco I understand feeling emotionally exhausted. I haven't been through as much or been on this journey as long as you, but I'm already pretty sick of this roller coaster. It's so hard not to let it take over your life.
@bakerstreetboys I hope AF shows up for you soon. Waiting/being in limbo is so frustrating.
@eleven_ the not knowing is the worst. It just would be nice to know whether or not all this pain and suffering will be worth it in the end. I hope your RE appointment helps find some answers for you.
@lokibear89 I'm glad you and your H had a good talk. I'm bad about talking about my emotions too, I need to work on that.

@kindbytealikat Good luck at your appointment on Wednesday. Please let us know how it goes, if you're feeling up to getting online that night. That's sweet that YH likes to celebrate Valentine's Day!
@ChloandCoco I love your idea of not holding back and trying to plan for a future baby. I'm getting tired of planning around it too, and I want to be better about just doing what I want and figuring things out later. I'm so sorry about the recent reminder of your due date. I'm really glad you enjoyed your weekend getaway. You deserved some time away.
@coco2787 Good luck at your appointment this week. Hopefully you can get some testing started. I understand what you mean about not getting time off to process the CP. I found out about my last loss the day I got back from a long vacation so I couldn't call in sick the next day. It was so difficult trying to get things done while my mind was elsewhere.
@bakerstreetboys FX your period starts soon so you can get the testing started ASAP. It must be torture waiting so long for it to start.
@eleven_ Hooray for your RE appointment tomorrow! I'm looking forward to hearing about it. What would you study if you went back to school?
@lokibear89 So sorry to hear about the fight with YH, but that's great that you both were able to open up about your worries and fears. Those conversations are so good to have, but sometimes are really hard to get started. After my losses I kind of assumed that MH knew how I was feeling, but realized way too late that I never expressed my feelings to him and couldn't expect him to understand. I'm planning to test on Monday as well, but might cave and do it Sunday instead.
@holly321 It's so hard to juggle between those feelings of being happy for someone, but being sad for yourself at the same time. Take care of yourself.

@offtoneverland I'm glad you were able to talk to the RE and I'm sorry the AFC was lower than you thought. I'm glad she's on board with the CoQ10. I listened to a specific episode of a podcast this morning that you might be interested in. I sporadically listen to Beat Infertility (sometimes I don't love it, and I can't hear about the host's own stories, they make me too sad). Episode 113 "Premature Ovarian Aging" is a success story about a woman who had Hashimoto's and Lime disease which caused premature ovarian aging. She had a lot of struggles but once she found the right dr (in her case a dr who specialized in immune issues) and was put on the right balance of supplements (CoQ10 and DHEA) she got her AMH to go from .8 to 3.7. I was shocked to hear this was even possible, and it may have been because her underlying issues could be addressed, but just wanted to share this with you.
@CraftyG I'm sorry you are going through depression and I echo the sentiment to consider talking to someone.
@dpjennifer When a cycle doesn't work out I usually eat stuff like queso cheese and Margaritas. Treat yo self.
@eleven_ Let us know how the appointment goes.
@kindbytealikat I'm sorry you've been struggling. It is so hard when we put things on hold for ttc and it doesn't work out.
@ChloandCoco I mean, are we the same person? DH and I are also planning to do fondue and a movie at home on V-Day. What do you put in your fondue? I used to have the Melting Pot cookbook but lost it somehow in a move I think. I usually do gruyere and swiss, and sometimes have added carmelized onions. I have also experimented with things like flavored cheeses.
@coco2787 @holly321 For me the first loss I had destroyed me and made me not function for a while. My other losses made me very sad, depressed, and hopeless, but somehow the first one has remained the worst.
@bakerstreetboys I'm sorry for the waiting. I do not wait very patiently either. I hope things move quickly for you and you get your cycle back soon.
@meatballs37 I saw your post in last week's thread and just wanted to say I am thinking about you. I am so sorry, I always wish I had words of wisdom but I've got nothing. It just sucks and is terrible.
I'm sorry if I missed anyone!
@offtoneverland Sorry to hear about your AFC results. Fingers and toes crossed that you're able to conceive on your own soon. Enjoy your gaming and book night tomorrow
Edited to add: does anyone know which is better; Ubiquinol, or CoQ10? I have read a ton about both online, and get that one is absorbed better/faster, but I'm still unclear on the difference. I have taken both and plan to ask my OB about it in a couple of weeks at D&C follow up.
bakerstreetboys Cheat day was amazing! And yay for you being back at the gym!
eleven_ Nah, I’m doing BeachBody. I just finished 21 day fix. After the long weekend I’m going to start Country Heat for 30 days. Hope your RE visit goes well.
lokibear89 I’m glad you and DH were able to have a good talk.
holly321 Sorry for the rough evening. It is hard to be happy for others when you feel so bad for yourself. And the super optimism when you don’t know what the future will hold, is harsh as well. Sorry DS doesn’t understand either. That has to be tough!
offtoneverland I had a cookie, and some popcorn and pop at the movies, and some mozzarella sticks… mmm…. Sorry for the bad news though. It does suck when you start expecting bad news because that’s all you ever seem to be told.
zamora_spin Good luck picking a movie! If you haven't seen The Greatest Showman, I HIGHLY recommend. Jumanji was also pretty good... funny and light, not as scary as the first one. (Or maybe I'm just a pansy about 'scary' movies). I've heard 15:17 to Paris is good, but it doesn't have 'actors' in it, but rather the people who were actually there... so it's good but not well 'acted' which makes it a bit off at times. Forever My Girl is supposed to be good, but I haven't seen it.

eta - @dpjennifer I have seen Greatest Showman and I loved it. I bought the album too. We will probably just stick with a movie at home (on V-Day) but are planning to see the Black Panther movie this weekend.
@dpjennifer Oooh I love the 21 day fix work out DVDs. I don’t follow the diet, but I still do the workouts.
@bakerstreetboys Thank you! I just loved Stranger Things. I totally know what you mean about feeling the need to be doing something. Waiting for AF to come and then end for me has been really hard because I just want to try again as quickly as possible. I’m sure it’s so much harder for you after the D&C. I hope AF shows up for you soon.
@holly321 I’m so sorry you had to deal with the emotions of hearing about your SIL. It’s so hard because you want to be happy, but you are just so sad for yourself. My SIL is pregnant too and she is due this month. I am so happy for her, but I know I will be filled with jealousy when I hold her newborn.
@lokibear89 I’m so sorry about your fight with your DH. I feel like fights with my DH are so stressful for me when they are happening, but afterwards I feel so much better and we feel closer than ever. It’s hard trying to not let things bottle up. FX for you for this cycle.
@offtoneverland I graduated with my medical technology degree a few years ago. I would only have to go to school for 2 more years to become a PA. My plan was to start applying when this baby turned 2. My plans seem further away now though. I’m so sorry you feel so sad all the time now. That’s sort of how I feel too. We need a vacation. Did you finish your book for book club? What are you reading now?
@zamora_spin I hate when O doesn’t come on the same day every month. When I first started TTC, I always O’d on day 11, but after my losses it’s been really late and it stresses me out. I’m trying to think of a good movie I’ve seen lately. Have you watched the new Thor? We watched it last weekend and I really liked it. My DH is from Switzerland so we eat a lot of fondue in our house. Have you tried adding cloves of garlic? It’s my favorite!

@offtoneverland It sounds like your RE appointment went fairly well, I'm sorry to hear about your AFC level.
@holly321 I'm sorry about your SIL. I get that you are feeling happy for her, but it's also a reminder of what you don't have. It's a very weird mix of emotions.
@zamora_spin Geez! It's really starting to feel like our lives are very similar... I can PM you the recipe (once I get it from my parents), but the ingredients are gruyere, emmental, garlic, and white wine. It's such a good recipe that it really don't need anything else. We use a fondue pot, which I think is the same thing as a melting pot? As for movie suggestions, this one isn't romantic, but we started watching Altered Carbon on Netflix and it's really good!
I just read an intro on Oct - pregnant with #7... seriously... can I just have 1? Just 1 would be great. That's all I'm asking for is one 1 healthy baby. It just seems so unfair some people get 7 freaking children and I have 0. Must be nice.

@eleven_ , @zamora_spin , and anyone else who would like the cheese fondue recipe (in the spoiler)
Ingredients:
- 1 clove of garlic
- 150g of gruyere
- 150g of emmental
- 40ml of dry white wine
- white baguette cut into bite sized cubes
- pinch of pepper
Preparation:
- Grab a fondue pot a rub the bottom and sides with the clove of garlic
- Add the wine
- Cut both types of cheese into thick shavings, and add to the fondue pot
- Cook over high heat while stirring constantly until the cheese becomes creamy, turn the heat down to low
- Add the pepper
- Put a piece of baguette on the end of a fondue fork, dunk it in the cheese and enjoy!
I would keep it on low heat while eating it, or else it turns into a hard lump of cheese.
@ChloandCoco Thank you! I think I will attempt your recipe this weekend
