  • @calimom2524 yeah, that's my strategy. I don't even want DS STTN. Why get used to it before the new baby gets here? Yeah, I know what I'm doing....

  • @livinthesunnylife same - I'm so sad that we had another goodbye from an awesome member of our little community. We're a pretty tight group so losses are really hard. Hugs to everyone.

  • @livinthesunnylife I agree with it being a tough loss. It is definitely because the whole month is so close to hitting the second trimester.

  • I got to send a terse email to those crazy parents in my class. They seem to be under the impression that I'm responsible for teaching their kid to know where their belongings are. I'm not keeping track of personal property for 32 kids. They need to teach their kid responsibility. They're going to be in for a rude awakening with next year's teacher.

  • @lolog531 my love tit is for solidarity. The flu is no fun over in our house either; I'm praying to all of the things that DS1, myself, or anyone else in my house do not get this flu and that DS2 remains the only one.

  • I can't believe how bad the flu has hit this year! It makes me want to quarantine myself until it passes! I had the shot, but it's not particularly effective this year, and I'm scared to take chances. At least I don't have any children running around. When my step kids were in school they'd get me sick all the time, especially the first few years. I don't miss it at all!

During cold and flu season we've basically had all of the things every year ever since DS1 started pre-k. Kids are such germy little creatures! The flu this year is crazy though!

  • @lalala2004 you have more strength than me. I was already starting to get back pain because when DS is in bed with us I basically hold him all night and can't move.

I dreaded sleep training but it actually wasn't that bad other than the first night and now he can get himself to sleep in 10 min.

I do miss all the snuggles though. He's so wiggly during the day I pretty much never get to snuggle now :(
  • Speaking of movement, when is it normal to start feeling movement for STMs?  My OB said "sooner" but since I had previa last time I didn't feel movement for a long time so "sooner" isn't really helpful.  I swear I feel things sometimes, but I guess it could be gas lol
  • jsnakehole I am the same way! I wish I could have an ultrasound every week. I have an appointment next week an I honestly don't know if I will have one then or not. My Dr. at the last appointment said we will be able to hear the heartbeat but I will be with a different Dr. next week.

  • @livinthesunnylife I remember feeling sooner with my second but I also had a posterior placenta that time. I think around 13 weeks.

With my first I had an anterior and it took forever!

this time it’s currently anterior, which I don’t mind. Won’t feel the kids as much in the beginning but in the end it will help decrease how strong they are lol

  • @livinthesunnylife if you think you've felt something, you probably have. I definitely have felt some movement. I think they call it "quickening?" AKA flutters. I first wondered if it was gas, but it's not. You can tell after you've felt it a few times.
  • Oh that's so exciting!  I like not thinking I'm crazy.  Since I had previa last time I didn't feel anything until it was like a firm kick and I could actually see my stomach move.  This time it does feel like little flutters.  I'd be really excited not to have previa again but I won't know for 2 more weeks.
  • I think I’ve felt something too, but now I’m worried because yesterday I felt nothing all day. Realistically I know it’s early and he probably just moved to where I can’t feel anymore but I wish my next appointment were this week and not next week!
  • Also on team I’ll feel better once I can hear/see the baby again. I finally see my OB a week from today. Last time at the first appointment she used a handheld Doppler/us machine in the room to find the heartbeat. I saw the baby at 8 weeks via the us when I had crazy symptoms, but I need the next few weeks to go quickly since I’m only 9.5wks right now.

Oh, eff, I'm so sorry. Call your doc, they will probably want to put you on Tamiflu. Mine said to call ASAP if DH showed any symptoms.

I called my OB this afternoon (before DH was sick) and the nurse said Tamiflu would be my only option. I’m just terrified because DS’s dr/nurse said that it’s been making a lot of people worse due to the strain that’s going around. Also, we went to fill it for DS yesterday and Walgreens was out of the generic and it was going to cost $200 after insurance. The generic is about half that price, but it’s on shortage most places.

  • The more I read about Tamiflu and the side effects the more it concerns me. I'm hoping I don't catch the flu from DS because I don't want to be forced with the decision on whether to take it or not. @lolog531 I'm so sorry it's taken your DH too, sick men are worse than sick toddlers.

  • Ugh I don't know  :'( it's only 3:20 here so I'm still at work. I haven't heard from my mom today though so I'm assuming not much has changed. His fever was 103.2 when I left this morning so hopefully its gone down. Thank you for asking @mrsbubbles-2!

  • Oh my gosh I can’t even keep up with all the sick mamas and kiddos and DHs!! Please all feel so much better soon!!!!

I have my NT scan next Tuesday and I’m soooo inpatient, I need that reassurance! I still don’t feel in the clear, although you never really do I suppose
cant wait to feel movement. I think I felt it quite early last time, maybe around 15 weeks, but nothing so far, I can’t even feel my uterus when lying down but maybe that’s because I’m fatter than last time  I remember the first time I felt it in the morning lying down in bed before I peed. Felt like a ball!

@calimom2524 hopefully his fever is down when you get home! And I agree about Tamiflu. When the ped nurse even said she wouldn’t take it and a lot of people are saying it’s just triggering GI issues, I’m scared! I’m just going to see how it plays out. If it does hit me I will call my OB and discuss options.

@mrsbubbles-2 DS is still in rough shape. He’s drinking fluids thankfully and has had wet diapers, so not worried about dehydration at this point. He asked for pretzels, but only ate 1. At least he’s asking for food though?! The nurse and dr said don’t worry about food, concentrate on the fluids. He slept from 12-4:45, He’s watching TV now and temp is down to 100.9 from 103+ this morning. He has no energy though and won’t even crack a smile.  Hoping it’s an upswing and he STTN again tonight!

I’m letting DH sleep, because really nothing he can do when DS is really just laying here. We will see what tomorrow brings!

@laufisch he does sleep in his twin bed half the night, and usually only wakes up 2 times a night on a good day. It could be worse!

Well, DD2 has a fever.  When I picked her up from daycare, her temp was 102.3. She's been drinking juice but doesn't want to eat at all.  I always get anxious when my kids are sick and I'm super paranoid about the flu this year.

All these sick kiddos ☹️  I can't remember everyone to tag but I hope they are feeling better.

But seriously, this winter can be over now.

  • Oh no @msmonalisavito! I’m sorry, I hope she feels better soon!

  • I hope everyone’s little ones feel better! Sick kids are so hard! We are still getting over the head cold of the flu 10 days later. DS’s cough is still pretty gross.

We did maternity photos last time and I loved most of them. My trick though was to do them in the second trimester. Because I’m only 5 feet tall my stomach gets huge (like people gawking big). So I prefer to do them early when I have a cute bump. And I just wore a simple dress, no frolicking in my underwear here.

I’ve been taking zofran since the flu and I think my hunger was trying to catch up from not eating when I was sick because I ate sooooo much.
  • To all the mamas and sick babies, feel better soon! Someone walked into my office today to tell me they were going home with the flu and I was like OMFG get out of my office!!! Whhhhhhy???

Also definitely feeling baby move and I’m 13 weeks. Not every day but my OB told me my placenta is located where I could feel the baby this time around so early. More of a rolling feeling I guess I would describe.
