Re: February 2018 IVF

  • Happy birthday @ChristenMA83 !!!! Hope you had an amazing day!
And welcome @meesh13-2 ! Definitely going to be an exciting month! We aren’t doing PGS testing, but I’ve beem listening to a podcast by a couple who talks about it a lot. Have you guys heard  of Matt and Doree’s Eggcelent adventure? I love it.
  • @Knottie61873971 I just started listening to podcasts and I was looking for some about IVF and Infertility. I will check them out,  thanks.

2018 will be our year, ladies! <3

  • Oh good luck, @alfieb-2 ! And welcome! Definitely excited for what this year brings.
  • @alfieb-2 welcome! GL this cycle. Do you know your protocol yet for this cycle?

  • Thank you, @mrsa2017 and @Knottie61873971!

I was on antagonist my last two cycles and will be on microdose lupron this cycle. I had 15 eggs and 14 eggs retrieved my last two cycles, yielding 6 blastocysts total (4 PGS normal). We transferred 2 each time and only one ever implanted which resulted in a MMC. We are dealing with MFI and my RE said microdose lupron should yield more eggs giving us more chances.

Do you all know what protocol you will be on? Wishing you all the best!!!
  • @alfieb-2 I pray the change in protocol would be what you need to get lots of normal embryos and your THB.
I am doing an antagonist protocol. I think due to me having PCOS.

  • @Knottie61873971 no, thank God. She said she is sending my scans straight to my IVF coordinator,  so I'm still on schedule.

@mrsa2017 Yay! Such great news! I’m glad you got the all clear and are on schedule!

I get my medication at my baseline appointment which isn’t until mid February. My hubby is military and we are doing it through the VA hospital so maybe that’s why? He’s getting out, so this will be my last try through our current RE. (IVF through the military is about $7000/cycle with meds, for comparison)

@Knottie61873971, the antagonist protocol gave me a good number of eggs. Good luck to you!

2018 will be our year! ❤️
  • @alfieb-2 The countdown is on! I actually can't wait to get a period because I have been spotting for about 2 weeks now smt. The OB who did my SIS said that could be from being on the BCP so long and my lining being so thick because I only had AF for 4 hours last month. I hope she doesn't come with a vengeance in a few weeks though.
Your pricing is similar to mines which was about $8400 with meds included.
Everything crossed that you will get your THB this cycle and won't need a plan B.
I need to start watching the injection mixing videos.

  • @mrsa2017 so happy you have a good report on the SIS.  I've been spotting off and on as well since starting BCP a few weeks back.  I think it's normal.

AFM: We got the call Thursday that the specialty pharmacy has our prescriptions now.  They collected my insurance and discount information and will call back this week (hopefully) with the costs.  Still not sure of my protocol.  We went in for Infectious Disease bloodwork Friday and should get those results this week as well.  Baseline is scheduled for 2/2.

  • @mrsa2017 Thank you! Will you be doing the injections yourself? I’m such a chicken I have always had my hubby do it...except for once when he was at training.

My first RE had me mix the meds so it’s one shot at night. My newest RE has me do one in the morning and one 12 hours later so that was 5 shots, including ganirelix. Now we are adding lupron so that will be 7 shots a day.  :s

Word of advice is to ice the injection site, you will hardly feel a thing.  :)
  • Hi ladies!! Wanted to say hello and join in on the February fun! I've been in the Jan IVF chat, but my ER is teetering both months! :) Wishing you all the best!! Looking forward to following everyone's journey's!

AFM: Had my Baseline ultrasound today, 12 follies on each ovary. Finishing up BC Wed, and starting stims on Monday the 21st. Looking like Feb 1st for ER.

  • @ChristenMA83 This spotting is becoming so annoying! I'd like to have sex with my husband these last couple weeks but it's just there everyday. It's often bright red and that has me concerned.
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay for meds being called in. I wonder why you haven't been told your protocol beforehand tho. How come you are just being tested? It wasn't done at initial blood work?

@alfieb-2 no way,,  hosea! I would likely pass out first LOL. My eager husband will be doing the honors.  He is so excited (rolls eye). How you excited to stick your wife smh.
I have 2 Fostimon a day and one menopur. My concern is that they only sent 7 syringes for mixing and 7 needles for sticking. I'm wondering if I will be mixing all three shots together as well.
We have to travel to do the procedure but we start stimming at home so they only sent meds for the first couple days.

@kristimh80 welcome to the February train. Your AFC is looking good. I'm excited to watch your progress. GL

  • @mrsa2017 LOL how cute your hubby is excited to give you the injections!  :D
  • @mrsa2017 When are you starting stims?
The ID panel wasn't done in initial testing, my only thought is maybe they wanted to get it right before we start our cycle and we started initial testing and bloodwork back in November.  I did receive my med schedule today though (and the cost - OUCH).  I don't start injections until 2/3 and the clinic is just getting into egg retrievals for their January patients (they process us in batches).  I'm sure they would have given me my protocol sooner if I would have asked, but I didn't want to pester since there's time to spare.

@kristimh80 Welcome to February.  Fingers crossed your Feb 1 ER.

  • @ChristenMA83 OMG we will for sure be Stimming buddies! I'm scheduled to start 2/2 yaaaaaay. I'm guessing the cost WOWed you a bit lol...  I get your clinic's logic behind doing everything in batches. They probably have a full week of just ER and full week of ET.
I think I am on 150iu of Fostimon (follistim) and 75iu of merional (menopur) because they sent 14 Fostimon and only 7 merional for the first 7 days of injections.

  • @mrsa2017 We will be choosing. 2 of my friends have gone through the exact same process but all of their viable embryos were one sex so no choice there. We will see what happens with us. Fingers crossed for everyone. I'm learning how to inject myself next week. Not looking forward to the needles.
  • @ChristenMA83 Happy Belated Birthday! Hope it was a good one.
  • Thank you @Knottie61873971 I have long commutes to work so I will have to check out that podcast.
  • @ChristenMA83 My baseline is tentatively scheduled for 2/3 so we are about the same schedule with a FET in March. I have to pay my fees at the baseline. Luckily my insurance covers a huge portion but I'm still out of pocket $5300 plus copays for meds.
  • @meesh13-2 I will be rereading my injection instructions and making my husband watch the video again with me. I think I had better mix and draw the medication and just have him stick me.

Anyone planning on using a numbing cream or an ice pack and heating pad? I actually have all of them to order in my Amazon cart. Idk why I'm anticipating the worse  :s

  • @mrsa2017 I used an ice pack my last injectable cycle...was actually one that came with my meds lol It helped especially with the trigger shot, not feeling anything with the larger needle. I hear menopur / galirelix can burn, so I may try it for them as well to see if lessens that.  I alreayd bought an oversized heating pad for after ER.

  • @kristimh80 well it's a good thing I decided to order them. I kept reading about ladies getting relief from a heating pad after ER so that's why I was so keen on getting that and I'm not looking forward to the burning/stinging with menopur.  I saw from my medication list that I'll be usually suppositories after my ET....  Read that's yucky and messy

  • Hi ladies! I’m new here but excited to talk to other women going through the same thing. DH and I have been “trying” for 6 years. We had two failed IUIs and our Dr told us to move onto IVF so we took a break to just travel and be us before moving on to IVF. But we are on our first IVF cycle now. I started the Lupron injections this morning, it wasn’t as bad as I thought!
  • Welcome @MissBrittBritt and @kristimh80
Sorry I’ve been MIA girls. Been dealing with a ton of crap with my meds shipment!
  • And it looks like my name finally changed!
I ordered my meds on 1/3, and the package showed checked into Coventry Parcelforce on 1/5. It hasn't shown any movement since! I have been in contact with the company, and they have been terrible about communicating with me. I am giving it today, then cancelling my order. I start meds next Friday! Yay! So I should still have time to order from a more local pharmacy and have it all here in time. *fingers crossed*
@kristimh80 it sounds like we are on a similar cycle! So happy to have you here!
  • @misbehaeven hope your meds get sorted out.  That sounds so frustrating.  I just paid for mine this morning, will deliver on Tuesday.

    @MissBrittBritt welcome to the group.

  • @misbehaeven Contact the pharmacy ASAP! My meds were overnighted, so were here within 2 days. You shouldn't be waiting that long, even if had ordered overseas. Some meds need to be packaged with an ice pack to keep cool.

  • @misbehaeven knowing the contents of the shipment they should not take that long. My meds came from one country and passed through another before they arrived here and I got them in 2 days. I hope it works out ASAP because next Friday will be here in a jiffy.
