Yeah. Our tech typed it’s a boy in the corner of the u/s then put <<< those arrows pointing right at it. Like um, yes. We see it but thank you? Ha. Yeah, not sure what we will do with it.

  • @PatientlyWaiting10 Thanks!!! <3

And LOL at the baby junk pics, WTF?? Mine only put a caption on the foot shot. She printed out a bunch of other pics that I literally can't decipher. Like, just weird grey shapes all over the place. I was sitting with my dad trying to figure them out - to no avail!

  • Hah. The tech at my latest ultrasound printed off two potty shots and a pointer on the penis saying "boy!!". Then, just for good measure, she also wrote "It's a boy! Congratulations!" on the mini envelope she had them in.

Like one picture wasn't going to be obvious enough.

  • So I kinda now want to ask for a gender reveal card at our a/s just so I can avoid this incredibly awkward photoshoot moment... :)@stephcat421 YH is thinking ahead! I'm so impressed.

@doxiemoxie212 I know the suggestion got overpowered by crotch shot excitement (ha), but I'd be down for a pregnancy/parenting book club if there's interest!
  • @doxiemoxie212 I'd be up for a book club too! I'm reading "Expecting Better" right now but just started so only about 5 chapters in.

  • @doxiemoxie212  I'd be down for a book club! I just finished Expecting Better. I am currently reading Ina May's and listening to Bringing Up Bébé, but I might have to switch to reading that because I listen for awhile and then feel like I tuned it all out.

    A few on my list:

    • The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding
    • The Happiest Baby on the Block

  • Okay, I'm going to start a book club suggestions thread.
  • Our housing company is cutting down all the trees without leaves. They're trying to say they're dead, but hello, it's winter! They had leaves until the first cold snap of December. Now they're dead? I don't think so.
It's probably pregnancy rage but I'm irrationally angry about it. One of the trees in front of my house attracted hummingbirds and it was so fun to watch.
My 5 yr old is upset about it too, so I promised her we would go get flowers (in pots) to make it look pretty again.
  • @May14th2011 I would be so upset too!  There's nothing like having nice healthy trees around your yard!

We love hummingbirds, too!  You can get some feeders and put sugar water in them to attract them too, just an FYI!  I think they come back annually so if you had them last year they'll likely be back again looking for food.

I just read this morning that this is the time of year (these weeks/this month) when most people find out they're pregnant. Because holidays and all = sex, I guess. Maybe that'll make things pick up more?

  • @izza2 They were just talking about this on my local radio station this morning! They said the most popular date to have to a birthday is September 9. The least popular dates were Christmas Day, Christmas Eve and New Years Eve.

  • @harveyabbey77 I have heard the September birthdays are the most common, but Christmas/NYE being the least common really surprises me.  I have a big Irish family- and there are over 10 December birthdays (more if you count in my husband's side).  December birthdays come after a crazy St. Patricks day

  • jsl82  - ha, this!  One of my old coworkers has 3 boys (all adults now) with bdays 2 and 3 days apart in Dec.  I asked her what was 9 months before that and she said St. Patty's day! (she is VERY Irish, ha)
  • DS is a September birthday. The year I was pregnant, September 16 was the most common date (9 months after Christmas).  Every doctor I saw reiterated the popularity of September birthdays.  Most on my BMB were worried about hospitals being crowded, etc.
  • I just have to rant for a minute about insurance. I have received a bill for my u/s last month and when I called to question it because prenatal care is supposed to be covered 100% by my plan, was informed they only cover up to 4 routine u/s per pregnancy. So the A/S I had this week being my 6th scan this pregnancy will also be subject to my deductible. WTF. I’m not sure how anything about my provider’s progress notes when ordering the ultrasounds for monitoring SCH and indicating history of spontaneous abortion, high risk for recurrent spontaneous abortion can be considered routine. Can’t wait to fight this battle.

TL;DR: insurance companies are a thorn in the side of humanity.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @lisa2589 Do we live the same life?  I just received my bill in the mail today for the scan I had for my SCH a month ago and it's outrageous.  It costs 5x more than my viability u/s from the beginning of pregnancy and was maybe 3x shorter the length, but I've been charged the entire thing.  Granted, I have a high deductible plan and I haven't figured out what's covered (routine-wise) with my insurance company. Regardless it's making me so stir crazy and angry right now.  Good luck with your battle!  I'll be making some calls tomorrow.  Totally +1 on medical insurance being a huge thorn, I could go on and on and on about how sucky it is.

@becca_123 ugh I’m sorry your dealing with them too! Like we have nothing better to do, right?  :D

ETA: It’s just, you pay the premiums for years and years and you’re healthy so hardly anything ever gets submitted to them, then when you actually have something that requires monitoring they have some special loopholes that get them out of covering it anyways.... *sigh*

  • @lisa2589 Ditto to every kind of insurance out there!  A bunch of scam artists they are :D
  • Haven't been on most of the day. DH and I both had off so we did some crap around the house. Then spent the afternoon at DS' ADHD eval. Arrrgh.

but I wanted to throw in that my 3 nieces all have bdays the same week lol. My sister also has 2 boys but I always laugh about the girls. And her youngest was from her 2nd husband! So I can't even say her and their father we're celebrating something extra special for each one!

  • @lisa2589, girl, preach! I've been on the phone all day today (when I'm supposed to be working) **tw** trying to pay an ER bill from my MC complications last March. It's almost been a year, and we still don't have the bill sorted out (their error). I only have until March to get this sorted out or I lose my FSA money from last year and have to pay OOP. Not to mention the bill is more than 3 times more that what they quoted us at the hospital. And now they want us to pay an additional $580 that DH's employer already paid them from their contribution. And made even more complicated by the fact that we no longer have the same insurance because DH got a new job.

  • +1 to insurance companies being the literal worst! I've been lucky to not get any surprise charges, but I've had so many issues with what my insurance will or won't cover that I haven't seen my ob since November. Finally got my a/s scheduled for February, but I'll be 23 weeks by then. Oh well. And @icecubeinthedesert that absolutely sucks! I'm sorry you have to deal with that craziness.

  • PSA - I was at Target between my A/S and regular appt on Monday and bought these leggings.  I've worn them a couple times already and really like them.  They are a workout type fabric, which I was hesitant about, but seems good so far, no little logos anywhere, and they would be good for you taller mommas.  I'm 5'5" and have an area at the bottom in my boots that is bunched up because they're too long for me.   They stay up pretty good and I think they'll wash up nicely because of the fabric kind.  They shouldn't fade and aren't see through when I bend my knees all the way so I assume they aren't see through on my butt either.  DH hasn't been around to see me wear them so I haven't done the "butt check" with him.  lol

  • DS2 is a September baby.  The dating ultrasound put his conception at New Year's Day.  I actually know for a fact that was not the day of conception (I'm not sure what day was, but we didn't do the deed that day, or the few days prior due to being in a shared hotel room.  My cycle was wonky because i was still nursing DS1.
