I am far from a small girl, and with DD, a July baby I still managed to shave allllll of the hair, all on my own. It wasn't a quick process, but I could totally do it.
Thanks I did a search on the high risk board and found a lot of old threads about it. Sounds like for lots of people it moves so really hope I am one of those. I am having my staples removed from my melanoma surgery tomorrow and was looking forward to getting back into exercising so I’m going to have to think creatively about how to get some exercise.
@katie121209 yup, I have partial placenta previa. I go back at 28 weeks for another u/s. If it doesn’t clear then, I have one at 36 weeks. They will schedule a c/s for 37 weeks if it doesn’t clear and do another u/s at that time. My placenta has to move one cm to clear my cervix and the perinatalogist and my OB both have said this is no big deal at this point. My only restriction since I had some bleeding is no intercourse until 28 weeks. I’ve had friends with partial and full and they’ve all cleared. Try not to stress over this since the odds are that it will be fine.
@katie121209 STM who had previa last time. Was on a no baby dance from about 20 weeks on... The good news was, that as I progressed din my pregnancy, the placenta moved up and away. I delivered vaginally (induction) at 36 +6 with no complications from the previa... My doctor wasn't concerned that is was going to most likely right itself.

@krashke I just asked my doctor about sleeping on my back because most nights I wake up on my back then lay there waiting for baby to move and freak out because I never seem to feel movement. (hopefully that is a good sign baby will be a good sleeper!) Anyway, doctor said at this time, I don't need to worry about it because baby and me are small enough that it won't hurt anything. When baby gets bigger, it could cut off blood supply BACK TO ME resulting in me getting nauseous and light headed causing me to wake up, realize I'm on my back, and switch positions. I've slept better since I found out this information because I'm not so paranoid about waking up on my back...hopefully it helps you too! And the body pillows never worked for me...queen sized bed, I'm 5'5" and DH is 6'1" and not enough room for me to get comfortable.

Do any of you get really bloated/gassy towards the end of the day? Any remedies that you've found that work well for you? Last night I was so uncomfortable before supper I could hardly eat. I told H that I felt like I was 8 months pregnant abut ready to pop. Went to bed feeling full, but not as bad, and wake up feeling skinny and good again. I don't drink pop as the carbonation in that always makes me feel icky and I try to eat relatively small/snacky type meals throughout my day. Although days I eat school lunch I know I eat more because they offer the main dishes then I can take as many fruits and veggies as I want so sometimes I over indulge on that. Wow, that got a lot longer than I thought it would... TIA for any insight you can share!

@PatientlyWaiting10 yea I get the bloating. It’s like painful trapped gas. No constipation so it’s annoying. I’ve found avoiding carbonation, drinking tons of water, and taking a heavy duty probiotic at noon every day helps. But I feel you - it’s so painful and my stomach gets so stretched.

@PatientlyWaiting10 I take this probiotic. It was recommended by my super organic friend who's also pregnant and due in May. I take one in the morning, and try to take one at night. I definitely feel better all around when I do. I believe you can take up to 3 a day.

Change of subject but can anyone point me to a good thread regarding bottles? Or if you have a couple quick recommendations of your own that's great too...don't need to go super into detail I know this isn't a product spotlight or anything. I'm a FTM, planning to breastfeed, but obviously I'll want some bottles for pumped milk for when I'm back at work, etc. Just looking for a couple quick suggestions because I'm starting to make my registry and I wanted a couple to put on there. Tried searching for a thread but couldn't find one.
@taykc90 just be careful, some babies will definitely have a bottle preference. We tried every bottle out there (I breastfed too) and she only took the ComoTomo brand. Granted, I love them, and they are great because they can go in the dishwasher too. I just have tons of single bottles from a ton of different brands haha
Me: 28 | Husband: 39 Married March 2016 DD: born 7.22.16 DS EDD: 6.23.18
@taykc90 - MH and my SILs all swear by Dr. Brown's. It's what we plan to use, exclusively. My SIL's three boys all had issues with gas bubbles when they had to use a bottle, and Dr. Brown's were the only bottles that took away that issue.
Second Son - born 2014 - Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) and Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV). First open heart surgery at 5 days old. He's had 3 open heart surgeries and several other procedures and is currently doing amazing. Third Son - due June 9, 2018
@taykc90 DD was super picky about bottles. We tried five or six different ones before she "settled" for Breastflow brand. I'm not sure they even make them anymore. DS wasn't picky. We used the nipple that attached to the Medela pump and he took it fine as well as the free one I got in the Target goody bag when registering. Ultimately we ended up using the Munchkin Latch the most and bought duplicates of that one. When he was older he took the free Avent one we got in the gift bag from Motherhood Maternity. Like I said, wasn't super picky. Except when it came to me...he didn't nurse well so I EP.

Thanks everyone! @sunshineandwhiskey yeah I've heard some babies are picky. I'm with you, I plan to get a few different brands to see which one works best.
@mytinc thanks, I keep forgetting there's a product spotlight schedule!
@taykc90 We had munchkin latch. It's the only one we tried, and luckily it worked. I echo the others - - don't register for too many. Try one or two and if those don't work, try others.
We went through a few brands and Dr. Browns definitely worked the best for us. I second buying singles and not the big multi packs or using the free samples until you find what works. If you do buy a big pack don't wash them and get them ready until you've tried one to know if you need to take it back or not. I have a TON of Tommy Tippy bottles now that didn't work for DD1- the nipple was giant and ate her face and she didn't go for that...I ended up using them to pump into and bought lids and used them to store snacks in the diaper bag later on.
I'm looking forward to this product spotlight! I heard to be cautious about bottles with too many parts because they are a pain to keep up with cleaning(Dr. Brown's). @sunshineandwhiskey the only bottle on my radar are the comotomo so I'm glad you give them high ratings.
Hey ladies, I've been pretty absent but I've been thinking of you all and hoping that you're well. 20 weeks yesterday, found out this banana is a girl. She didn't cooperate for the anatomy scan. Just kept curling up so I go back in 4 weeks.
On the hair train, I had Brazilians done religiously with blue wax that was great for my sensitive skin. I miss them. I switched to home maintenance when I relocated this year. S.O. is a weirdo who likes hair. I don't. He wants me to go completely natural and I feel like he will eventually get his wish lol.
Anyone develop any allergies while pregnant? I am now allergic to shellfish. My favorite food and the only animal protein I've been eating. Figures. Shrimp caused my tongue to swell, throat itch, and then I stopped breathing. I'm hoping it goes away after pregnancy.
@missylaneous419 I haven't, but I have heard that you can develop weird allergies while pregnant. DH is allergic to shellfish. He's vegetarian now so it's a non-issue, but when we were first dating, if he got drunk, he would just say eff it and eat shrimp anyway because he liked them (sigh), and then be miserable for a few days after.
@missylaneous419 I developed an egg allergy after DS was born but I think this new baby has made it go away. I haven’t tried to eat eggs yet but I’m good with mayo and mayo-based salad dressings now. My allergist was like “yeah, that happens sometimes” when I asked her about it after DS was born.
@missylaneous419 Not a food allergy so its a bit different but I developed an allergy to something that's in a lot of shampoos during my pregnancy with my son. I haven't figured out which ingredient it is yet (hopefully I'll get it narrowed down soon). I also already had a problem with certain menstrual pads (mostly always brand pads) and that had only gotten worse and extended to every other brand I've tried so far. So that was a fun allergy/sensitivity/whatever to develop during pregnancy. At least I didn't develop any food allergies! Hopefully your shrimp allergy goes away.

The lactation consultants at my hospital recommended Playtex VentAire because it had a much slower flow than other bottles and it required a strong suck similar to breastfeeding. They aren't fancy, trendy, or cool looking.... but they kept her fed while I worked through latch issues.
@katie121209 - Nope. The previa was not my issue for induction. It was Cholestasis... Liver complications, and my numbers were trending towards pre-eclampsia territory. So after gall bladder attack followed by 2 weeks of monitoring blood work and fetal movement, they decided to induce rather than wait. NBD. I would get induced again... For me it was okay. I know not everyone has had a good experience.

Guys, I finally have a bump! I'm so excited to take a pic tomorrow when I hit 18 weeks. It was weird - I went to Philadelphia for one night and when I came back last night, MH was like - whoa, you're pregnant! Did your bumps just kind of suddenly appear? Or was it slowly growing, we just didn't notice?
@LaceyBee522 mine has been gradual and I'm not sure I have really "popped" yet. If you didn't know I was pregnant you would think I just have a little extra fluff from the holidays. It's mostly just my belly fat being pushed up and out.

@krashke@LaceyBee522 that's true; I'm not sure I look pregnant to people who don't know me unless I'm wearing something blatantly maternity-esque (ruched sides on the shirt are a giveaway, IMO). I think it was overnight for DH and I noticing, though. DH says I still look like a skinny person, but that I might look like I'm pregnant or I might look I'm developing a bit of a beer belly. I think most of my old tops would still fit me if I didn't have such a long torso since the issue is mostly they're too short and just sliiightly snug. Though I guess if I had a shorter torso, my belly might stick out more, so IDK. Maybe that's moot.
@rnielsen321 did you have intense itching with your cholestasis? I remember my step mom having it so badly 15 years ago when she had her 2 kids. She had it both times. It was so bad that it is stuck in my head forever.
I have had some itching lately which freaked me out soley based on her experience. I'm sure mine is regular pregnancy itching or dry winter skin as it is so mild. I remember while she was in labor, she was taking a natural brush and scratching her whole body. She had a rough pregnancy as the itching kept her up all night, and she has scars from making herself bleed. I had never heard of this aside from her. I hope you are feeling well this time around. Crazy all the things pregnancy can do to our bodies.
@krashke@laceybee522@doxiemoxie212 I've never noticed a dramatic "pop." I always start feeling like I must look pregnant in the 1st trimester because of the bloat. As the bloat fades the bump seems to emerge gradually. I definitely look pregnant to others now (3rd time mom at almost 18 weeks). For a couple weeks now, folks have not been shy in congratulating me based on my appearance alone.
@amys614 - yes! The itching!!!! It was proceeded by a gall bladder attack (which I had out this year)... Here is a link to a great resource on pregnancy...IMO. And this article is specific to cholestasis ...
Which is actually quite common I found out. It can be controlled quite often with drugs which greatly reduces the itching!! and keeps the blood levels at a better pace so you can continue with your pregnancy.
I can tell you a bath, creams, and anti-histamine did nothing for me and was a sleepless 10 hours with it before I called into TeleHealth who pretty much called a cab for me to get to L&D, adn called ahead for me. It is nothing to be ignored!

@LaceyBee522 def not overnight for me. The day of my BFP pants started to feel uncomfortable, I went to brunch with a friend that morning in leggings and an extra-long t-shirt. Eventually the bloat got fuller and then higher (more like a bump than a front muffin top). I still don't look pregnant in everything but I'd consider myself popped.
