i can't read and made a second ten things thread! sorry @darkstar42! changed this one to the weekday randoms. :-D going to let grumpy cat admonish me today
Yes!! I feel like I live in the randoms thread! I was going to start it yesterday but was waiting to see if we'd get a good random gif out of @jrm_14. I think you shouldn't deny us anyway
@catlady2015 I really appreciate that you live up to your name and post a lot of cats. I feel like I need to live up to my name now and start posting about Harry Potter and Coffee.
@galactickates Ugh, I’ll see if I can muster up strength to come up with a random gif later. Yesterday I had all the feelings. Most of them were not constructive nor delightful.
Anyone ready for another MIL rant sesh? Continued saga.....
MIL decided to revive this zombie of an issue that has remained unresolved for almost 6 months, basically to add her views on DH and I as people and in desperate hope to respark this feud in a preferably malicious manner. In her opinion I am "unique" (I think she was trying to be insulting with this), apparently have anger issues and I am also a liar. MH is ungrateful and a sociopath (yes she actually called her own son a sociopath). Then to just drive things home she continued to inform us that they were currently redoing their will and that we would absolutely be written out of it. Making the change that MH's mentally challenged sister (who is lovely and sweet) would no longer be residing with us when the day came, as she fears that I would potentially kick SIL out onto the streets if she ever said something out of turn and upset me. Instead she would rather make arrangements for SIL to go to DH's ex-wife OR his ex-gf.
Side note, I don't think I am going to be able to walk tomorrow. This whole going back to the gym business is for the birds. TRX is kicking my ass in a major way right now.
And just to lighten the mood after that novel my apology gif....look at that cat.
@nitnat007 - holy drama... why do people even say stuff like that? "I'm writing you out of my will!" Good lord, I hope I'm never THAT person. Also, did your H's ex-wife or ex-girlfriend agree to be your SIL's caretaker? That's a huge responsibility to thrust on someone who isn't prepared... Yikes. Sorry you're dealing with that
@nitnat007 - that gif is awesome! Sorry about your MIL - she sounds like a whackadoodle. Hope you can move easier soon! Also, TRX is no joke! I typically steer clear of it b/c it kicks my ass HARD.
@nitnat007 good lordy your MIL is cray cray. Good luck with that mess! Love the gif!

@nitnat007 and @catlady2015 - I actually really like TRX!! I bought the straps so I could do it at home (it's good for my janky back) but I don't have a great space to hook the straps up.
@nitnat007 - how rude!!! What does your DH have to say about all of this? I'm sorry, There are just people out in this world who are miserable people who like to make other people miserable too.
@wishiwaspreggo That was my thought too! I highly doubt that this has been discussed with anyone, including the SIL, who is able to have her own opinion. There was the underlying message of "whoever takes care of SIL, also gets their house", which we could not care less about. Both MH and I feel that she only said it to be malicious and hurtful.
@catlady2015 TRX is brutal, but I do enjoy it. We have been doing it in a group which makes it a little more entertaining.
@kimberbeep TRX is a lot of fun and really works you. Having a good place to mount it is important though. They have a good structure at the gym thankfully. But I have seen someone go down hard!
@galactickates He is at a loss. I think it really upsets him, but he says that she is just flat out cray! This situation is beyond repair at this point. She would really need to apologize now for what she has said since it began.

@nitnat007, wow, I am sorry about your MIL. Not that she should treat you guys like that, but that is also such a terrible way to treat her daughter, she needs consistency and should always know 100% what her future is. I hope she doesn't say this stuff to her.
AFM, after many years and types, I can finally wear contacts! I don't hate glasses, but I love having a choice. But, I didn't realize until I went to leave work today I don't own regular sunglasses, and it is sunny and snowy outside, so that was interesting. Also, horrible day = highest alcohol content wine in the house. I am trying to do "good" and stay away from the whiskey.
@holly321 Oh I hope she has not said anything in front of SIL. It would really unsettle her. But who knows with this sort of behavior. That is amazing! So nice to have the contact option now. Enjoy it. Did you manage to stay away from the whiskey?
@lurvleybunchococonuts You still have pie crusts?? You need to start working on the Valentines Day pies and the Easter pies lol. Just all the pies!
I think I'm gonna start a food blog. I've been complaining about looking for recipes and then being directed to food blogs that feature long, tedious stories about the life of some stay-at-home mom (respect: it's a hard job but I don't want to read a blog about what you do all day, nor would anyone want to read a blog about what I do at work all day). Or these blogs have scriptures or some other type of religious bent to them. And they always have huge high-def photos that take 20 minutes to load on my phone and the food I make never ends up looking like that anyway.
It's like every food blog out there is run by a SAHM who home-schools and does freelance photography and has a husband who has some kind of awesome job that allows said SAHM to have a fabulous, beautiful house with a huge fancy decked-out kitchen and her kids are always impeccably dressed and well behaved and it's all so rosy and so fucking perfect. She always has a daily list of enriching, educational activities for said perfect kids like she's goddamned Mary Poppins. I bet she never poops either.
I want a food blog for the common woman, dammit! And I want the recipes posted first and foremost, with normal pictures of how your food will actually turn out! And minimal commentary aside from "this is very good and you should pair it with this wine." And disclaimers like "Okay, this recipe is healthy, so I'll give it to you straight. It doesn't taste like the best dessert you've ever had so keep your expectations low. However, if you can keep an open mind and remember this is low in fat and sugar, it's actually not too bad!"
@wishiwaspreggo I would read that food blog too! I know exactly what you're talking about, it takes Fooooorevvvver to scroll down to the actual recipe, not to mention if you try to actually print it..... good luck.
@wishiwaspreggo - I LOVE your disclaimers! add me to the list of people who'd read that! I don't want to "print a recipe" to get 3+ pages of commentary before the actual recipe!
@wishiwaspreggo I agree that I'd read that blog. That's one of my biggest issues with food blogs, it's always "My husband and kids were doing this and then we did this and that's why I made that!" and then twenty paragraphs later is the recipe.
The only extra information I would care about reading is modifications/substitutions to a recipe. If you want it creamier, add this much heavy whipping cream, if you want to add peppers or onions do it! Stuff like that. I feel like that's never part of the recipe. I always scroll to the bottom to see what other people changed.
@wishiwaspreggo I used to blog craft/food/diy stuff. It’s not that hard to get started, especially if you’re just doing it for fun and not expecting to turn make money. And nowadays phone cameras are great, so taking pictures doesn’t have to be the production it used to be to get a good photo.

I woke up today feeling physically good. Literally the best I have felt in a long time.
TW, I haven't felt well since before I got pregnant in July from taking clomid, my health issues, the pregnancy itself, then all the craziness that happened after. End TW
I did get a migraine today, but with the daith piercing and medication, for the most part, I still felt pretty good. (The caffeine in my migraine meds perked me up too.). After talking to the doctor yesterday, I feel like a different person. It's nice to not feel bitter, lol.
@nitnat007, I was good and only had a glass of wine. I may reward myself with something tonight..... I am trying to decide what goes best with a bubble bath.
@wishiwaspreggo, if you do start a food blog, would you have a theme, or a certain type of food , or just make whatever you want?
I had a good day today. AF showed up (which means I'm off the bench), I got a massage, and I wandered Target and bought things I didn't need.

@holly321 Friend! I am so so very happy for you feeling good today. You've had a tough road and you deserve to feel good. I'm so happy for you and hope the good feelings continue. @wishiwaspreggo I was cracking up at your description of all the food blogs. It's so true! Add me to the list of people who would be interested in following your blog. @nitnat007 Although I've never met you IRL, I have trouble believing you have a mean bone anywhere in your body. I could never imagine you being the type of person who would throw her mentally challenged SIL out onto the streets! I'm so sorry about your MIL treating you both that way. @jrm_14 Hugs, friend. I hope you had a better day today. @acciocoffee I see what you did there posting an HP gif.
@holly321 I'm so glad to hear that you're feeling good! Good for you
@wishiwaspreggo I'd totally read that blog too! I too always skip the blah blah blah and go straight to the recipes and occasionally read comments on recommendations/tweeks.

@holly321 Today you are happy Today you feel better So thankful after all these months, you were able to experience that feeling. I hope there are many more good days in their way to you!
@holly321 So glad to hear that you had a good day! I hope that it sticks and that every day only gets better for you moving forward. Treating yourself to a bubble bath definitely sounds like the right way to end any day! I would have suggested a bold red for the occasion. @offtoneverland Thank you! I think that was one of my biggest issues with everything she said. I have taken SIL in while MH has been away on many occasions in the past and have a great relationship with her. There has never been anything to warrant such a comment. MIL is just mean and I just have to keep reminding myself of that point. @lurvleybunchococonuts That is amazeballs! I love it! You are so very thoughtful and crafty.
@meggyme - tips on getting started would be appreciated! I'm not doing it for a paycheck, I just have a lot of feelings about food, particularly health food, and how it's portrayed on the internet. Like "Ermahgerd you guise this fat free, sugar free, gluten free cake is totes amazeballz and you'll NEVER KNOW THE DIFFERENCE that it's not REAL CAKE!!!! You won't miss the sugar or fat at all, promisssssssssssss!"
No, that's not how it works, and I think everyone deserves to know. I've made too many awful desserts, horrible versions of Alfredo, inedible loafs of bread, sad puddings, and weird, weird meat dishes that were framed as healthy and tasty. It's just not true. You have to work with what's naturally healthy, not bend comfort foods to your will. I've discovered a few recipes that turn out ARE delicious and ARE healthy. This is coming from a certified fat woman who loves rich, flavorful, decadent dishes. I think my opinion is one someone can trust. But these clean-eating skinny minnies who haven't had real food in God only knows how long... you just can't trust them. Don't trust someone's opinion on a cookie if they haven't had a real homemade Tollhouse cookie in years.
Plus I would like to post "unhealthy" recipes and list their merits, portion sizes for calorie reduction, and generally support home cooking because I think it's fun and liberating. I can make a better, cheaper surf n turf than anything I can find at a restaurant, and my mashed potatoes are to die for. I can bake layered cakes, make the creamiest buttercream, and people rave over my rice krispie treats. I'm not professionally trained and I think my food is good but not intimidating and people can relate to that. I've always wanted a blog written by someone who clearly doesn't have their shit together but can at least throw together a decent meal so if she can do it then I can do it, you know? Maybe I'm that person.
