@Miz_Liz so sorry for your loss. We are in a similar situation right now. My grandma was admitted yesterday and it's not looking great but I think she is ready as she has been in long term care for 4 years and in and out of the hospital.
Hugs to all who are dealing with illness and loss. The holidays are definitely a rough time to go through that.
AFM...last night I couldn't fall asleep because I was thinking about where we are going to keep the stroller and car seat so they're not just sitting out all the time but accessible. Seems like a reasonable things to keep yourself up for, especially given we have some time to figure that out. But seriously, we always come in the door from the garage that enters right into the kitchen. There is a closet nearby by the front door that is a possibility but at this point there is no room in there with the shoes/coats/winter gear that is stored in there. I'm really going to need to start de-cluttering and organizing.

Hitting 2018 reminds me of the feeling I had when we hit my wedding year. We were engaged 20 months so when 2016 hit it all started to feel real, before I felt like it was so far away I couldn't talk about it. Now we are almost half way (20 weeks). MY BEST FRIEND GOT ENGAGED AT MIDNIGHT ON NEW YEAR'S DAY!!! So excited! It makes me really happy I'm pg now bc originally we thought she'd be getting married sometime in 2018 (but he took forever to propose). They are planning a wedding for Spring 2019, which works out perfectly with the baby timeline.
@Miz_Liz@Amphibious22 I’m sorry for your losses. @amys614 Fx for good results for both your dad and uncle. @krashke Thinking of your grandma and family.
@Miz_Liz@Amphibious22@krashke I'm so sorry about your grandmothers. I'm keeping you and your family in my thoughts. @amys614 sending good thoughts your way too.
If you haven't been posting or lurking on the weekly appointments thread, it was discussed to have a new ultrasound thread for our anatomy scans that is somewhat secret to avoid all the drive by's as our current ultrasound thread is long and clogged up with one post wonders. I have created a new ultrasound thread called June Bugs. Feel free to post your anatomy scan's there!

@amys614 I will keep your dad and uncle in my prayers - I hope you guys get good news soon! @krashke I will keep your grandmother in my prayers too. It is so hard even when we know that it’s their time or they’re ready. ::hugs to both of you::
I just told my new boss (like, I've been at this job since mid-December) that I'm pregnant. She was nice about it, but it was totally awkward. I really hope this doesn't make everything weird here now.
@Miz_Liz sorry for your loss! It's always hard for us left behind but I totally get feeling glad that your loved one is at peace. I'm glad you got to spend time with her!
I love the June Bugs idea! I never post my pics on TB. Internet strangers creep me out too much. In a FB group I'm in for carseats a lady posted about some stranger screen shoting her pic of her child in his carseat and posting it on her page then discussing it with her friends. Creepy. Sorry you ladies will just have to take my word for it that I'm not maninbasement.
@LaceyBee522, I just told my two bosses today, and it was a bit awkward too. Granted, both my bosses are men, so they just don't have the level of excitement most women have anyways, and they seemed happy for me, but it was a bit forced?

AFM I went from being “I still have 4.5 months..” to “I ONLY HAVE 4.5 MONTHS” in just a matter of days. Suddenly I want to buy all the baby things and organize, organize, organize. Too soon for the nesting to kick in?
Very exciting @ffw0617!! We have friends planning a wedding in Scotland in late fall 2019 and I am beyond excited already. I can't believe we will be going with an 18-month old!!
bkrahn my hubs has accused me of starting to nest as well. I think the new year is playing a part as well, though. I want to purge EVERYTHING. We just gutted our master bath so everything is a mess and junk is everywhere so once I can get to my stuff easily everything is getting purged and consolidated.
Went to go take a peek at September because it sounded better than actually starting my 4 loads of laundry that need done.
It's amazing how reading those posts can bring you back to the place of anxiety when we were only that far along. Also, seeing someone had a really late loss, further along than we are, has me all kinds of freaked out. No more lurking on the early boards for this anxious McGhee for a little bit.
Y'ALL JOANNA GAINES IS PREGNANT WITH #5!!!!! According to Chip's oversharing that a concert in October led to a romantic evening, baby would be due in July. Give me all of the nursery inspo, please and thank you!

@krashke I saw that!! Lol! Have you been watching the new season? Maybe I'm imagining it, but they both seem really short and sometimes mean with each other. They've always been snarky/funny, but this season it seems to have more bite. They also seem TOTALLY over the show. I guess it is a good thing it is the last season.
Also, this was one of the top stories on the Today Show this morning in the 7:30 block. WTH? I would get it as a daily click or part of their roundtable hot topic thing. But, is the nuclear pissing match with North Korea not more important??
@stephcat421 yeah, snow on the east coast. I don't even think it's supposed to be THAT much! We were literally about to get in the car (all the bags are packed, etc.) and we got the email. So now we're just twiddling our thumbs on hold with the airlines trying to see wtf we can do, because you know when they cancel this many flights its SOOOOO hard to get on another for a while.
@doxiemoxie212 oh yeah that's right that storm, Greyson I believe is hitting east coast. Wow, talk about timing.... At least you aren't sitting at airport. Good luck on a timely flight home!
@doxiemoxie212 I'm so sorry! That totally sucks. You're right, I don't think we're supposed to get much snow in the city, but the wind is supposed to be ridiculous, I think.
I worked for the airlines for several years (all aspects- ramp, gate, ticket counter, then flight attendant) and wind shear/ crew placement/scheduling/availability is the biggest issue with weather. Sucks even more for the crews who often don't find out about the delays/cancelations until last minute as well...often get stuck in random cities instead of getting to go home (likely aren't packed for said delay and end up wearing dirty uniforms). Not all airlines (many don't) have cancelation pay so when flights cancel the crews don't make anything and lose out on all of that pay...and crews don't get paid until the door of the plane is closed so all of that time sitting around the airport for delays or at the gate (boarded) with the door of the plane open is all free labor.
Today is really our first day back to life as normal (me SAHMing and DH back at work) after the holidays and I’m a little listless and bored. I think I’ve forgotten how to enjoy our quiet routine. I keep feeling like I should be doing something but not sure what.
@BurlapandLace yes! It went well, I think. They seemed to like him - he was there for 2.5+ hours (my mom and I went shopping in Stanford). The only thing is they told the recruiter beforehand that they sort of hope to get someone more senior than DH, but they told DH they're really struggling to find anyone more senior (but not too senior) so it might be fine? We'll see how it goes. DH also had drinks with a partner in his firm's silicon valley office, and that guy (who is not part of his practice group so who knows how much it matters) said he thought DH could just tell everyone he needs to move out here for family reasons and it'd be fine. DH watched a virtual hospital tour the hospital out here has on their website, though, and he's like THIS HOSPITAL IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE ONES IN NYC WE HAVE TO MOVE!! lol lol so IDK, we'll see.
@doxiemoxie212 Sorry to hear about your cancelled flight and anatomy scan delay. At least you have family to stay with! I didn't think the storm was supposed to be that bad - I live in South Jersey and I just checked earlier and we're only supposed to get 1-3 inches here. Not exactly sure what it takes to basically shut down the airport, though.
@Miz_Liz & @Amphibious22 so sorry for both of your losses. Hopefully 2018 treats you and your families better!
@doxiemoxie212 that is great about DH's interview and the potential for a move within the same firm. Hopefully you can get out of NYC sooner rather than later. I miss NYC so much, but wouldn't be able to live there with my little family. It's so much cheaper with so much more space outside NYC. It does also suck that your flight was canceled- BUT positive note you get to miss this polar vortex that is plaguing the east coast right now. Enjoy your reprieve.
On a completely random note- there is a conversation right now about the correct plural form of octopus. Apparently octopi is not correct. Just thought I would share.
OMG my appetite is insatiable! I got to work at 9:30am. I've eaten: turkey sandwich and a handful of chips, 3 baked chicken [whole] wings (leftovers from last night's dinner), an entire grapefruit, organic fruit snacks, and 2 eggs and spinach. Its only 4pm. I've already eaten 3 full meals and 2 snacks. AND I AM SO HUNGRY!
So maybe TMI, but hopefully someone gets a laugh at my expense- last night DH and I were DTD (which still freaks me out and has only happened twice since I’ve been off pelvic rest) and I legit had to take a pee break halfway through. My bladder was just not having it....it was ridiculous but we both laughed!
