@rachelg777 I felt like they were but we used a pillow under our arms too with our previous one just depending one how we were holding him and what support we needed. The boppu was also grrat for that, too
I can't remember who it was, but I remember a few mentioning wanting to do a space themed nursery. We bought a rug from this company, Lorena Canals. All of their rugs are machine washable. We got the monstera leaf rug, but I noticed they had a really cute outer space one (link below). They aren't cheap, but are really good quality and I love the fact that they are machine washable.
@rachelg777@cups4 Depending on your space and budget restraints, definitely test them out in store if possible and read lots of reviews. We were looking for small and under $300 and all of the reclining ones we tried were SO hard to un-recline (?). Like, you had to KICK to get that thing back in, and reviewers agreed once I checked. Going with the Davinci Olive Glider and Ottoman set instead to avoid the potential hassle. Wish the ottoman also glided but otherwise it’s good for our small-space, small-budget needs.
What have you done so far to get ready for baby? Not much. Found a really good condition used crib for free on our Facebook yardsale page, and.....well, yeah. That's pretty much it. Poor thing doesn't even have a name yet What upcoming projects are you planning? We have to move everything out of our playroom (which is our spare bedroom) so we can get ready to sell the house, and we're going to make it the nursery, even though baby will sleep in our room for the first few months anyway. And then we're taking the dresser that is our changing table and the rocker/glider out of the girls' room and putting it in the nursery. Are you a DIYer or hiring help? DIY as much as we can. For actual electric or machine-related things, we hire someone, but painting/decorating/putting things together we do it. Is there anything you’re dreading having to do? See "upcoming projects" LOL I'm not looking forward to taking most of the girls' toys away to storage or packing in general, but it will be nice to de-clutter and hopefully get rid of a lot of unnecessary stuff while packing. Also, since MH thought it was a good idea to buy a five seat car instead of a three row car like I wanted him to a few months ago, we now have to figure out brand new car seats that will fit three across his back seat. I figured we could just do it for his car, but I realized the other day that the infant seat will have to be able to go in my car, too, so we'll have to probably get at least an extra base and then it annoys me that we've saved and stored our two infant seats from the girls for the past three years for no reason. Waste makes me angry, and getting rid of two perfectly good convertible seats from his car, and two perfectly good infant seats makes me so angry. GTKY: What’s the one household essential or tool that you swear by? This is a hard one for me, too. I think most of the modern conveniences I've gotten used to (dishwasher, clothes washer, etc) are pretty essential to me now. I have to totally agree with the cube storage stuff, though. 90% of our playroom is cube storage and I love it. It's easy to find stuff and looks organized.

@abhphilly I was able to try the target one in-store and that's how I knew about it. It has the reclining lever inside the armrest and not outside, major selling point!
What have you done so far to get ready for baby? We put together the crib and dresser. I have a TON of clothes, I have to restrain myself from buying any more clothes for awhile. We have our stroller system + car seat.
What upcoming projects are you planning? I need to find a glider/recliner + ottoman. So far I'm thinking of getting the Davinci Olive Glider + Ottoman.
Are you a DIYer or hiring help? Mostly DIY. I might hire someone to clean our carpet right before baby comes.
Is there anything you’re dreading having to do? Not really
GTKY: What’s the one household essential or tool that you swear by? I've been using Norwex and it works wonders!
What have you done so far to get ready for baby? We painted the nursery last pregnancy and thankfully I still like the light blue color, and we have a hunter green dresser that came with the house. Bought a crib (yeah, Sorelle crib club!) on Black Friday and a rug, but haven't opened either due to the upcoming carpet project mentioned below. Family is chipping in to get us the DaVinci Olive Glider and Ottoman set as their shower gift. Luckily the room is tiny (125 year old house), so there's only so much we can even choose to do!
What upcoming projects are you planning? Desperately need to steam clean the carpet in there. It's AWFUL (just plain beige, which is fine, but super low quality so it stains if you even touch it), but came with the house and isn't worth replacing until we have a slightly older child using that room. Once that's done we can put together the crib and roll out the rug. Probably will need to shave down some of the doors to fit the rug, since we got it large to cover as much of the awful carpet as possible. My wife is hand-painting knobs for the dresser to look sort of like these adorable ones I found on Etsy that we just can't afford (bc we'd need 18 of them), and they're coming out sooooo well!
I bought gray blackout curtains for the room but the window is a weird height so I need to hem them, and I'm making a fabric bunting for the wall to bring together the colors of the room. We also got those unfinished IKEA spice racks to use as book shelves that I think we're going to paint green to tie in the dresser more. If not, we'll stain them the color of the crib.

Are you a DIYer or hiring help? DIY unless it's actual construction or electrical work.
Is there anything you’re dreading having to do? It would be steam cleaning the carpet, but my wife's going to have to handle that, so it's hemming the curtains. I hate large-size sewing projects because we just don't have the space for them to be easy.
GTKY: What’s the one household essential or tool that you swear by? We don't have a dishwasher, otherwise I'd probably choose that since it's my dream. But I LOVE my Dyson V8. With 3 elderly and furry pets, it's used multiple times per day. Second place is the Roomba that runs every night while we sleep.
What have you done so far to get ready for baby? Um...bought an outfit. I never nested with DD (instead I got messier) so I'm expecting a similar result this go around as well.
What upcoming projects are you planning? Moving furniture out of the guest room and getting it for DD including painting the walls, washing all of DD's baby clothes that I've kept and organizing them, setting up the crib and changing table again, and clearing up the clutter and deep cleaning the house.
Are you a DIYer or hiring help? DH is my help lol
Is there anything you’re dreading having to do? All of it
GTKY: What’s the one household essential or tool that you swear by? I hate cleaning, so I don't really have any tools that I swear by. But, like @charlestonchew said, I couldn't live without my dishwasher.
We got all the boy clothes we’ve been saving down from the attic today, along with all the baby gear. All of the baby gear is wiped down and organized in the closet now and my bff is coming over tomorrow to help me organize the clothes. We are going to give most of it away to a friend who just had a baby boy and I’ll keep a few sentimental or unisex outfits.
@Poppy0419 my whole house is a disaster right now because we just keep shuffling things. My goal is to have it back in order by Sunday because DH and I go back to work and it will never get done once we do.
@mileswithmyles basically my life. I need to paint the nursery but then i have to move things. And I can’t be bothered right now (as I’m eating fruit snacks and laying in bed).
@mileswithmyles your photo gave me a weird question. We're hoping to stay team green and obviously have clothes for both sexes due to the twins. Do I wash and prep the newborn and 0-3 month clothes and put them both in the nursery? I think if I wait til baby comes, it'll stress me out way too much.
I think that'll have to be a March project for me. We have tubs and tubs of clothes in our storage!!! Luckily they're labeled, but still a lot of work.
@BertieMeetsGertie we ended up getting a Lazy Boy recliner and made sure to get one in a super neutral colour so after we are done using it in the nursery it can be used elsewhere in the house. It was more expensive but will get a lot of use. I loved it with my first pregnancy. I'm excited to use it again
What have you done so far to get ready for baby? Bought a dresser, utility cart, and nightstand (to put next to glider) from Ikea . Waiting to put dresser together until we paint the room. Also purchased a rug. Pics in spoiler. That's about it....
What upcoming projects are you planning? Will paint the room grey this weekend, build dresser (changing table) the following weekend. My mom is going to paint and frame some awesome watercolor painting of plants/flowers for us to hang on one of the walls (our theme is grey, black, and white with green "plant" accents in the form of the rug in spoiler above and houseplants). We picked out the crib (Babyletto Hudson in white, haven't purchased/ordered, yet) and are deciding between the DaVinci "Olive" glider and the Davinci Ruby glider. The Olive comes with a stationary ottoman, but the Ruby reclines. We may splurge on the Ruby and purchase a gliding ottoman to go with it. Not sure, yet.
Are you a DIYer or hiring help? DIY for anything not structural. My mom's dad and all four of her brothers are electricians and they all taught my dad basic electrical skills/work/safety for stuff around the house. So my dad has been teaching husband and I the ropes. Any complicated electrical work will be done by one of my uncles.
Is there anything you’re dreading having to do? Paint and build the crib.
GTKY: What’s the one household essential or tool that you swear by? My husband makes fun of me for how much I use a measuring tape hahah. But, in all seriousness, dishwasher and dyson are everything. UO: I actually hate our roomba and feel like it really doesn't do a very good job for how insanely expensive it is.
@onesmallcoconut i wish i had done something like that. We got a glider which was fine but i wouldn't of it anywhere else. We put it in my in law's house when we were moving 2 years ago and now we have to figure out where to put it in our house.
@suchaglencoco maybe take some of the neutral stuff and have that ready then get the rest out once baby comes?
So far to get ready for the baby, i have made a list of places you declutter and things to worry about. I guess you could count the new couch and garage door as baby prep too. I just got bed rails from a friend for DD2 so we can move her furniture around for baby.
Upcoming projects: we moved into our house 2 years ago. It was built in the 50s and the original owner here so everything needs updating. There are tons of projects. The list of things that must be done before baby comes: rearrange furniture in DD2's room and declutter my room so there's room for there pack n play (also make sure the pack n play didn't get ruined in the garage). When the baby starts crawling, we need to carpet the stairs and get an area rug for the playroom. When he starts walking we need to fix the banisters (which we should probably do soon anyway).
We're not DIYers. I put together furniture, but that's it. I've actually recently realized that DH is not all that handy but i can't say it cause it would hurt his ego too much. It's not like he's pushing you do it anyway. Also, her leaves his tools behind wherever he was working. It is so annoying.
I'm dreading figuring out how to arrange the furniture. Also worrying about funding all the things i want to do.
Not sure about the essential household thing. Dishwasher for sure. I think baking soda. It does everything.
@babys_2018 thanks for posting the org challenge link. I want to do it, but i think i need to do things in a different order. I might try anyway. A little overwhelmed at the number of FB posts though.

So funny. I just messaged my sister in law complaining about the Facebook group!! I think I'm going to un-join it. It's ok for ideas on what people are doing but it isn't related to the actual challenge weeks considering it starts on Jan. 6th. Last year I just followed along on Instagram (@abowlfulloflemons) and through my book (you can use the free checklist and printables). I would definitely suggest doing it that route instead!
@jenbabymama replacement batteries for roomba - check amazon. We just replaced ours and it’s a lot cheaper than the “name brand”. Just make sure you match up the model number.
@heelsidehero oh my gosh, that is a great idea! I love this forum, thank you! You just saved me $300. Last time my roomba did this I had to get a new one.
I believe we all have the sorelle 4 in 1 crib with changer attached. Did yours come with instructions??? Ours didn't seem to we aren't really sure where to start! Help!! Any tips??
@babys_2018 I have a sorelle, but it’s a different model. Hopefully @mileswithmyles or @charlestonchew can help you! If not, I would think you could find them online. Good luck!

@Poppy0419 thank you for kicking my butt into gear to start getting things ready. I figured I'd leave it all until April, but thanks to you stms who posted stating I must likely still be too pregnant to do much around that time I started this weekend.
What have you done so far to get ready for baby?
Today I organized what will be the baby's bedroom, but it's currently set up to be a guest room /sewing room. Granted until the last few weeks I hadn't had energy to do any sewing so since moving in October in is just sat there. I have put all my fabric into tucker totes and need to start thinking about what to do with all the fleece and flannel I have hoarded over the years, all ideas are welcome. I've purchased a diaper pail, stroller and infant carseat. And we finally made our social media announcement because I was afraid MIL would make it before us.
What upcoming projects are you planning?
Trying to find something to do with all of the fabric. I have some PUL and flannel that I'll attempt to make postpartum cloth pads with. I have some sleep sack patterns that I can use the fleece for, and I think I'm going to make some unpaper towels and cloth wipes because I found a bunch of terry cloth I didn't know I had. The rest of the stuff will have to wait until baby showers because I feel we will get most of the things we want from them and I don't want to have extra stuff hanging around.
Are you a DIYer or hiring help? We will DIY everything we need to do for baby, but for our major remodels of our other home, we hire contractors.
Is there anything you’re dreading having to do? Figure out what to do with the desk and bed in the baby's room and clean out the closet in there that's currently our extra storage.
GTKY: What’s the one household essential or tool that you swear by? I'll have to copy everyone and say dish washer, or washer and dryer. I have doing dishes and I hated going to the laundry mat when we lived in an apartment.
@jhysmath Im glad I could be of motivational help. I started this to motivate myself and here I am with walls that are spackled and not even sanded. But I did pick a paint color.
@poppy04195 thankfully we painted before we moved in, a week before I even knew I was pg. Though I'd probably would have decided on a different color if I had known it would be a babys room it will be what it is and it's better than the lime green that was there before.
@jhysmath I had my house professionally painted when I moved in. If I didn’t have to repair the walls I absolutely wouldn’t be putting myself through this! It was my office so I had wall racks, mirrors and a huge TV hanging!
@charlestonchew good to know that they were hidden for you! We haven't found them yet but found them online and have the crib about half built (geeze it sure takes long!!). Thanks so much for responding and sorry I stopped checking. I'll check the boxes again since it was my hubby who unpacked it all! Lol
