Nesting Motivation (or Lack there Of)

We’re halfway through and May will be here before we know it! Some of you are already nesting. Some of you hang on my side of the fence and are sitting there Bumping instead.

What have you done so far to get ready for baby?

What upcoming projects are you planning?

Are you a DIYer or hiring help?

Is there anything you’re dreading having to do?

  • @k5678 audible and podcasts are my go to when I’m cleaning. Drowns out the cartoons too!! And keeps me from being lazy somehow. My stepmom had a poopacolypse incident which scares me. I don’t run my Roomba with my dogs in the house. It runs at 9am daily and they’re outside during it.
  • @suchaglencoco my painting swear bys (I grew up redoing houses with my parents) are a sureline to cut in quickly and frog tape. Lifesavers. I hate painting though. I actually hired someone to paint my entire house when we bought it because I was so sick of redoing things and toddlers. I feel you on the motivation. I could have done all kinds of things but here I sit talking about what I’m not doing.
  • @Poppy0419 oh man... I feel for you with the drywalling. That is NOT fun.
  • For those of you that are looking to organize your house, I am planning to do the same as we recently moved and everything is a disaster.
I'll be doing this awesome challenge to help get me purging, cleaning and organizing one room a week:
    https://www.abowlfulloflemons.net/2017/12/coming-soon-the-2018-home-organization-challenge.html

I have the book and did it last year (it was super helpful) but there are also free printables available on Jan.1st if you don't have/want the book.
The challenge begins Jan. 6th and you have the entire week get through the listed room/space, then the next week it moves on to a new space until you're through everything. It walks you through how to organize everything including tips.

If anyone wants to do it with me, let me know and I can create a seperate thread!

  • Does anyone have any recommendations for closet organizers or like those stackable boxes or whatever? Our room is kind of small and was maybe wanting to do that to save room instead of a dresser.
  • Target has a pretty good sale going on right now for storage and organization products. I plan to run out this weekend to pick up some storage tubs for stuff that needs to get packed away and some baskets for the new babies room.
  • @charlestonchew I'm going to check out ikea for closet organization
  • This is a big ol nope for us
  • ^i wrote more than that but it's fitting that it got deleted

We kind of built our own. We bought 2, 3 cube stackers at Menards and I think screwed them together. We put it up the middle of the closet and then cut another clothing rod in half and put it on each side of stacker. So we have the main clothing rod and then one halfway down.
Each twin has their own side of the closet and I put random stuff in the stacker.
  • We use similar sets to what @cups4 has.  They are great for clothes and toys. Ours came from
    Costco.
  • What have you done so far to get ready for baby? this gives me so much anxiety. I started a registry and I bought some baby clothes for newborns and 0 to 3 months. That's it. I'm waiting for my baby shower to buy the rest of my stuff but I am getting anxiety about not having everything ready. I know it's best to wait but still... Anxiety.

What upcoming projects are you planning? I'm thinking that I will have to put the crib and baby dresser and changing table in my home office.

Are you a DIYer or hiring help? there isn't much for anyone else to do. I'm not really doing anything.

Is there anything you’re dreading having to do? lose my office. Think about how we will make space for baby.

GTKY: What’s the one household essential or tool that you swear by? roomba is good but it's declining battery life annoys me. I just got a little handheld Dyson which I'm loving. The mopping roomba sounds like a good one, I'm going to look into that.
  • @cups4 ahh thank you! I think this is what I want. Does it have to be put together...? I am seriously worn out from putting our crib/changer combo together.
  • @charlestonchew it does but it's really easy, which is why I keep buying this specific brand. You connect the middle pieces with wooden dowels,  super easy, and Allen wrench the screws on the outside boards.  Everything comes with it and it's essentially 2 steps. Just have H help hold the boards up while you screw and done. But I've done it by myself too!
  • @cups4 Sold! Thanks so much this is exactly what I wanted and I just went and measured and it will fit in the closet perfectly. Now to find teal cubes...
  • What have you done so far to get ready for baby?
Made a secret registry on Target to start making a list for what we need (and the coupons)
Bought a few outfits when I went to the Carter's outlet
Spent too long looking at outfits on Etsy
What upcoming projects are you planning?
Cleaning out the playroom so there is room for the baby
Getting the NB clothes down, washing them and making sure we are all set in that department
Getting the breastpump out, ordering new parts and make sure it all still works
Are you a DIYer or hiring help?
DIY as much as I can
Is there anything you’re dreading having to do?
    Cleaning out the playroom

I love the cubes like everyone above, they make cleaning up toys easy. I also have this sponge that I call the happy sponge (it is in the shape of a happy face) and it is amazing at wiping down dishes predishwasher and seems to last so much longer than my regular sponges.
I really want a steam cleaner for the carpet...
  • @justsuzie where did you get that huge plushie? It's so cute and I want it.
  • @justsuzie darn I guess I'll look on Amazon for something similar. I'm ordering the cubes off Amazon so I can tell you how that goes when I get them. I'm a huge Amazon lover.
  • @justsuzie and where did you get the unicorn?! Love it!!
