@nanifrog I’ve cried at two movies in the last two days. We saw the new Star Wars yesterday and Coco today. Every time I saw Carrie Fisher on screen, it made me sad and Coco was just a sentimental movie about family so there were a lot of tears.
@JNCPro3130, i watched you when i was pregnant with DD1. I ugly cried through it. That movie is terribly sad. I saw my friend who is the least sensitive person I've ever met and he said he cried at Up. Definitely hide it. Inside out gets me too but I really, really love that movie.
@mileswithmyles how was Coco? My friend said she loved it but didn't think it was good for kids.
@nanifrog DS seemed to like it (he’s 3.5). DH and I both really liked it. I guess it could be considered a little heavy for kids, but I thought it was good. Pixar tends to me more mature than the regular Disney movies IMO. Like Up and Inside Out deal with some very adult things that probably go over kids’ heads, KWIM?
To me, the hardest part about Up was that the couple faced infertility and were unfortunately, unable to have children. Since DH and I struggled for a while, it gets me every time.

@BertieMeetsGertie we watched it on DVD shortly after we got married. I turned it off and didn’t want to finish it because I was so sad after that opening sequence.
I'm thinking about switching OB practices. I feel like they aren't taking my stomach problems seriously, telling me it can just be an unfortunate part of pregnancy. The new practice I may go with births out of a hospital with water delivery option. Has anyone had a water birth?
Most of the items on that list aren’t recommended and haven’t been for a while... Drop side cribs haven’t even been produced for years at this point! There are a couple things on the list that I kind of roll my eyes over and chalk that up to user error over a product issue (sling carriers and changing tables mostly) but maybe I’m the weird mom who didn’t use any of the listed things to begin with?
@ivyvines6 I agree about the user error issue. I used a ring sling, Bumbo, and changing table and had no issues. But I also didn’t put the bumbo on top of our table and leave DS there unattended. I was surprised to see drop wise cribs on there because I already thought they were no longer made.

I have labored in a tub right until delivery but never actually gave birth in one per hospital policy. It is amazing to labor in water! It does slow things down a bit (at least for me which was fine!) but is so, so worth it. *** Trigger warning and TMI*** I have a bit of a personal question. Have you been referred to a gastroenterologist and did they know about the bleeding episode? Personally, I would want a colonoscopy if I was losing weight and bleeding. Just my $.02. And yes, your provider does seem a little non challant. Also, if you would like a non medicated birth, it’s probably best to use a provider who mostly delivers without medication. You can do it with an OB for sure, but some providers are more experienced than others in that department.
I have been to a general doctor and one specialist that diagnosed me with colitis. I don’t think I can have a colonoscopy while pg because that is done under anesthesia. It seems my “colitis” is induced by either my anxiety or pregnancy. (I still don’t think that diagnosis is accurate even though they said there is such a thing .). Because this problem started getting really bad (it was always a slight-moderate issue) during pregnancy I feel like that is what the doctors are chalking it up to.
I’m seeing a naturopath next week as recommended by my therapist. I’m also trying this FODMAP diet because I tracked all the foods I ate that cause me problems this month and they were all FODMAP foods. These are short-chained carbs that aren’t properly digested by the small intestine.
I’ve had IBS since elementary school and have a long list of foods that imintolerant to. I feel a bit betrayed by doctors because I’ve had a standing “IBS” diagnoses for 30 years and I know it’s more than that. I’m hoping this new doctor can shed some light on things rather than just recommending me another IBS medication. Sorry for the long response. I’ve actually put on weight avoiding all the FODMAP foods and my toilet troubles have gotten a tiny bit better, tmi- significant reduction in passing blood this last week. Now my next battle is adhereing to this diet while being vegan and still maintaining proper nutrition. I track everything I eat yo make sure I get enough protein.
I really need to get this under control before birth because I can’t imagine being stuck on a toilet the entire time during labor!
@justsuzie no advice but definitely thinking of you. I hate when you feel like doctors are writing issues off because of pregnancy or whatever. I’ve always been overweight/obese so I have had to work hard to find a doctor who doesn’t just dismiss any issue I have as a a side effect of weight (even though I’m very active and my blood work is always great). While I’m sure some of it is aggravated by weight, it feels like some doctors only see that. I hope you can find a practice that helps you out and takes your concerns more seriously ❤️
+1 for human error Obviously don't leave your child unattended in a bath or on a changing table. Don't leave your child in a bumbo or walker for extended periods of time and use it as a baby sitter.
I did not go through the whole list, but from what I did see, it's pretty common sense stuff. And honestly, the twin are 2 and we still use their changing table. We've yet to have any issue other than them trying to climb it.
I think some of those are human error, but some are really not great. Either way, i was glad to have that info before my first was born, so thanks for posting it.
I used the Bumbo, but for very short periods of time and only on the ground. I didn't use a walker. I don't think you can really supervise enough to avoid a potential problem. And if you can, there's no need to put the kid in it. Just hold their hands and walk around.
I am avoiding a lot of my non pregnant cry movies and it stinks because I love my cry movies. The only one I can't stop watching is Me Before You because I love it the most right now. I am also halfway through Mockingjay 2 and am avoiding watching the last hour due to how dramatic my crying will be.
On another note, we ended up spending like 5.5 hours at the ER yesterday. At like 11 am I was still having those weird, painful maybe bhs and then had a little dark brown spotting. I called in for peace of mind, but they wanted me to be seen just as a precaution. I was 19w6d so they denied me being sent to l&d unless there were major complication. Had we gone today, we'd have been sent upstairs to l&d. Anyway, baby Mayday is fine and measured straight on during the u/s. The tech who did it was super sweet and let DH come with me and let us see the screen once she did a quick overview to see if anything looked off immediately. I asked the tech to not saying anything if she spotted genitals and she totally understood and talked about her 3 pregnancies. I only looked at the screen when I knew it was on their head. DH watched the whole time and couldn't tell feet from head so he wasn't worried about finding out the sex by accident, but I was super proud of myself for not even stealing a glance! I've been worried about our a/s mainly to make sure baby is healthy, but also worried I may feel the need to peak and ruin team green (fwp, I know). Finding out baby is right on track, has all their fingers and toes, and is in a nice placenta really eased my fears a bit for our a/s in a week and and half. And the best part (other than us both being ok) was my "oh sh** moment of "this is legit. Like, this is a baby! This is real! They're alive and kicking! We're going to have 3 kids!" So now I want to purge all the things!
@charlestonchew, nope. No idea on the pains. The spotting they agreed was probably from relations on Wednesday night, but because it was outside the 48 hour window of that, they wanted it checked. They saw no active bleeding.
@doraleigh35, it wasn't too bad. DH and I are weird and had fun with it. The doctor actually commented on how odd we were with our humor and not being upset about the long wait time. Our main complaint was that we waited for almost 3 hours to get taken back. Like 20 minutes later, there was an arrest in the waiting room. So we missed the drama and fun! And we couldn't figure out who was arrested by our nurses description, haha.
@suchaglencoco I'm glad you're both ok. I think we have a very similar sense of humor. I would have wanted to see the arrest. Also, 11 hours in the ER with no kids is date night, right?
Glad you and baby are ok! That sounds scary for sure! I agree with you on the arrest, I love witnessing those kinds of things and probably would have asked the nurse to describe them too. Lol.
@nanifrog, it was only 5.5 hours. On the way home, we grabbed food because I couldn't eat the whole time and we were both starving. DH called it a date because we had dinner and a movie since we watched part of Grumpy Old Men while waiting for results, haha.
@suchaglencoco, I'm so glad you and the baby are okay! You had a great attitude about everything! Way to go staying team green! I'm so impressed by everyone who has the willpower to wait!

I guess I don't understand when people get upset at wait times at the er or what not. Like they're known for long waits and yelling at the women checking you in isn't going to do anything, but stress them out. We saw several people go up and complain about their wait. Why?? If you're allowed to wait then obviously, they don't think you're a severe case and you should feel blessed you're there for something less significant than others. Our nurse was telling us how she constantly gets called the B word, how she gets spit on, how she's been punched in the face. That's no way to treat someone doing their job and trying to help you. Just so frustrating.
And honestly, I'm super proud of myself for not peeking! Totally thought I would, but I keep thinking about the moment in the delivery room where their sex gets shouted and that helps.
@cups4 - the transition to toddler bed really wasn't that bad! You will do fine! I would recommend a baby gate either at the door of your child's bedroom or top of the stairs if their bedroom is upstairs. My son likes to get up and walk around at night before waking us up. One night he went downstairs and got his milk. Then this weekend we were up north and my MIL found him upstairs in the middle of the night.
@suchaglencoco, I don't understand what people think it accomplishes to be rude. Most people (of course there's exceptions) are just doing their job. They aren't purposely trying to irritate you.
A friend of mine was team green with both her girls. It was fun to hear the sex when she had the babies!!
