Ugh...My brother, SIL and their kiddo arrived late last night. They are all sick. Please dear God don't let us get whatever it is they have. Thankfully they are staying at my mom's but we will be spending basically all day tomorrow with them
@poppy0419, your DD is so cute! They tend to be a little less cute at 3:00am, but I'm so glad you're home with her!
@glitzandglitter, ugh! Here's hoping they keep their germs to themselves!
As for the drive by in the check-in, does anyone actually take the size comparison literally? When I had DS, I didn't think "Wait! He looks nothing like a pumpkin!"
On a complete random note, I need TB to give us the eye rolling emoji! I need it so often!
@suchaglencoco, she's in the first week check in. No one responded to her. Probably because 1)no one knows her, and 2)it was a ridiculous response to the size comparison.
@abhphilly yep! I was thinking, um, does this lady know anything about the loss history of at least 3 of the Regs on thatcheck-in? My heart hurt for you reading that.
I’m late to the thread (been so busy this week). But I want to echo all the kudos to the ladies who are handling the drive-bys.
We bought a car today!! I can’t believe I’m going from my car that with 1 car seat barely seats 3, to an SUV that seats 7! And it still hauls, it’s supercharged!!
@suchaglencoco enjoy that haircut! I need one myself. Like @nanifrog said, in my area, you’re lucky to spend $70 for just a haircut. I’d love to get highlights and stuff, but no way I’m dropping $200 on that!
@justsuzie, per the recommendations of everyone on here we just got a Sorento! It's really nice! I got the 2016. I really like it! We had to get a car quickly after my wreck at the beginning of the month. I'm glad I had already asked about vehicles!
@BertieMeetsGertie@doraleigh35 we got an Audi Q7! We test drove the Land Rover Discovery (and Velar) first, but once we drove the Audi we knew that was the one - didn’t even do the other test drive we had planned!
We don’t have it physically yet - we didn’t like any of the configurations that they had in inventory, so we custom ordered. Should be here in 2-3mo! I did this with my last car, and while the wait is slightly painful, it’s worth it to get what you want!
@Ceridwen77 i love the new body styles of the Q7's. We recently got rid of our S8 due to me changing jobs and having a longer commute, I would have been putting way too many miles on it and paying a premium for the gas, boy do I miss driving the audi! Lucky Girl!
Well, I just got the call that my car is probably going to be a total loss. Hubby and I are getting dressed and going to look at cars. Anyone else hate car shopping as much as I do??
@Ceridwen77 we have been trying to decide on a car! I have an A3.... yes teeny tiny, but this is our first baby, so we are thinking of replacing husbands sedan for an SUV and i will keep my A3 until my lease is up in 2019. We have been deciding between Q5 and GMC denali terrain. While i love my audi, and would love to have a second one...we are thinking the terrain might be a bit more bang for our buck. We will do 3 yr lease and then maybe look into denali acadia or Q7 As a replacement. Really interested in finding out how the Q7 works out for you! This reminds me.... i need to go to the store and try out the car seat we want. I need to make sure it fits ok in my A3. Although chances are i will be giving my husband driving rights of the audi while im on maternity leave and we will use the SUV when we all drive together (husband, baby, black lab, and I)
@mmb4532 im so sorry about your car. I hate car shopping when you werent actually planning/expecting to be car shopping.
@Ceridwen77 damn girl! The Q5 was our top choice (Q7 not in the budget unfortunately) but the cargo space might be a bit small. We’re now looking at the Volvo XC60 and Honda CRV (really don’t want a Honda, but...)

Thanks! It was! It jumped off a bank right in front of me and I had no time to avoid it. I went to the ER that night and Baby was moving around and heart rate was good, so thankful for that! Cars can be replaced, I just hate car shopping. Ugh. It also doesn’t help that it’s like 12 here and we need to car shop now.
@mmb4532 sorry about your car and I completely can relate with your hatred for car shopping. In the morning I was so excited, but after one dealership I was like, ok I’m done! Luckily DH pushed me on to one more but we were totally done after that. It’s so exhausting!!
@bwow615 ahh too bad about the S8! My daily driver now is a BMW 335xi and my husband is taking that under his wing I’m going to miss it. But the Q7 does 0-60 in 5.7s which is not bad at all for a huge car! I’ve been into cars my whole life so getting a car that I’m going to love is of utmost importance. I will miss driving a manual though.
@kpc914 you can definitely make an A4 work with 1 kiddo! We are only getting a bigger car due to the 2nd LO. Good plan to lease! It will be nice to have more space (we have definitely missed it on trips). Great point about the car seat. We brought our convertible seat car shopping and it was a huge help in deciding on a car!
@BertieMeetsGertie the Volvo is really nice and so safe and reliable!! Good luck!
For anyone car shopping, check out carvana. We have bought 2 cars through them. It's all online so no salespeople and they deliver the car to you. You have 7 days to return it if you don't like it. We'll probably never buy a car at a dealership again! So easy!
Highly recommend the Chevy Traverse for those in the SUV market.
@kpc914 there is a good Facebook group called car seats for the Little’s. You can let them know your car and the car seat you are thinking about and they will let you know what will work best for your car.
Everyone hates car shopping MH is a finance manager for a Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership. Part of the problem with the current buying model in the US is that even if you go to what’s known as a “fair price dealership” no one believes the salesman and still wants to feel like they’ve gotten a deal. It’s stressful because people put a lot of stock into their credit score affecting things, but approvals are based on a lot more than that.
(I hate most salesmen too ftr... MH is a rare breed)
My stepmom drives a Q7 and loves it. It’s super comfortable to ride in. I LOVE my Infiniti QX60. DH drives my “old” (2012) 4Runner and it’s so not family friendly and a rough ride.
My “mom” car needs that I didn’t think I needed were being able to unlock doors and open the trunk without having to find my keys, air vents in the back, a charger port in the back and remote start. When DD and I have to take DH’s SUV I’m a hot mess trying to multitask my way into the car.
Oh man I feel so out of the loop this week. I see threads I want to contribute in but then I get distracted. Fighting a cold and chasing a toddler is sucking the life out of me. Anyone have good fixes for a sore throat?
As for the drivebys... Wtf yo? Holidays must've brought out the crazies. I did see the apology in the thread that didn't include a TW. I'm glad she took the time to come answer and I think it was handled really well.
Oooh I'm jealous of the new car shoppers. My little sedan has been good to me but I'm dreaming of an SUV. One day!
@Poppy0419 remote start is the best invention. It's freaking cold here this week (today was -35 celsius with the windchill) and we have had to go out a few times. So nice to jump into a warm vehicle!
@heelsidehero Well I did find it felt better when drinking a Creme Brule Latte from Starbucks this afternoon but the feeling didn't last much beyond when the drink was done. Not a sustainable fix considering cost and caffeine intake to keep the soreness at bay

@Ceridwen77 ooh, we’re in the market for an suv. Which one did you get?

@Poppy0419 your DD is adorable! I hope that you both get more sleep tonight.
I really need to leave my house today, but it's -26C outside. I just want to lay on my couch with a blanket and hot chocolate.
My poor, poor Corolla!

It was good (and tasty!) while it lasted.
If anyone is considering moving their toddler to a bed, don’t do it until you can drink again.
