  • @JNCPro3130 I like the name, but just thought I'd mention that when seeing Jackson Nicholas I immediately think it's like a flipped around Jack Nicholson... but to be fair he probably won't be famous much longer anyway so it's probably not a big deal. I don't think the cousins really matter if you've never even met the kids, especially since they're relatively common names.

I didn’t catch that at all, so there is that!
  • @thunderberry, Do you think it's a big deal since he wouldn't be going by his first and middle name?  It would be Jackson Lastname.  UGH... I'm not a very big Jack Nicholson fan either.  He annoys me!

  • hahaha @thunderberry i also thought of Jack Nicholson, but didn't want to "ruin" the name for @JNCPro3130. That being said, love the name combo, even if people think of Jack Nicholson, he's not famous enough lately that people wouldn't be able to get the association out of their head. And yes, very rarely do you see first and middle name together anyway. I say, go for it!
  • @kpc914 @JNCPro3130 haha okay now I feel bad for being a ruiner. It's totally true you rarely refer to people by their middle names, so really it's not that big a deal at all. And especially it's rare to see it written just the first and middle and it will probably be a lot less obvious when said out loud, and when written down with a last name after it. I hope I didn't ruin it forever because it really is a pretty minor association!!
  • Must have missed this, I have a friend and her first son is Harrison and her second is Lincoln. They want a ton of kids and they already know if they have another boy it's Hamilton! People are probably going to comment no matter what. DH's grandma still can't spell DS's name... Gideon. She always writes it as Gidian on cards and stuff. We have girls names narrowed down to Iris and Phoebe (never budged on them) and a boys name choice is Reuben. I just saw in the AS that @babydreams88 has that as her LO's name, so if we both end up with it I hope there's no hard feelings!! We won't find out until Jan 4 though.
No hard feelings at all ❤️ It's a beautiful name!

  • Thoughts on the name Brynn? My only hesitation is I also wanted to use a one syllable middle name "Joyce" or possibly "Jade" so her name would be Brynn Joyce or Brynn Jade with a two syllable last name. I much prefer a longer middle name with a one syllable first name, but maybe it doesn't matter or shouldn't matter. Middle name would be after my aunt (Joyce) or her favorite name for a baby girl (Jade). She never had children of her own and recently lost her husband.
  • I think those sound good together and with a 2 syllable last name. So sweet to honor your aunt that way. I also love how Jade Brynn sounds.
  • Brynn is NMS...for some reason it sounds like a nickname or shortened version of a name. Jade is very nice though and I love the meaning behind it.

    I second what @Ceridwen77 said
  • @charlestonchew don't know if this is better or worse but I think of the cat in Sailor Moon.

I feel like I can join the discussion now.  We tabled all talk of names until after the AS.  Part of the reason I wanted a girl was because we don't agree on boy names.

My top choices are Lee and Kevin, but I'm falling in love with Leo

DH wants a Jr, which I'm against.  He spent the better part of the afternoon looking up Jrs that were not the first born son.  I'm convinced that a 2nd son can be a Jr, but I still don't want one.

He also would like a son named after a Ninja Turtle/Artist.  He is trying to convince me that we can name the baby Leonardo and have him go by Leo, but I'm not in love with Leonardo.  Leo is so simple and powerful, can't we just go with that?

  • @chickenandabean we use the judge test too.  My DH had a hard time keeping a straight face when I said "All rise for the honorable Leonardo ********"

  • We do the playground test. Can you image yourself yelling it across a crowded playground?
  • @crazyliblady I love Leo! Leonardo is fine too.
  • @holli0801 I LOVE Holden, it's #1 on my list, but I just can't get my husband on board!

@MissusTexas we've always like Asher, I'm going to run it by my husband again , I'm thinking I like it for a middle name!

We have a short list of a few, and recently added Porter to think about.
  • @JNCPro3130, I'm a bit late but I also recommend the website Nymbler for names. The app is NOT worth downloading though.

Requesting thoughts on the pronunciation of Madeline. Would this be pronounced Mad-eh-lyn? Or Mad-eh-line?
    image
  • @RachelT1234 I would pronounce is mad-eh-line... if you want mad-eh-lyn I would spell it Madelyn I think.
  • @RachelT1234 I'm never sure. With the -line spelling I'd probably try the line pronunciation first and see if i get corrected.

  • @heelsidehero we aren't set on it yet, I do like it but I don't know how I feel about it being paired with the mn Joyce, we decided that Joyce is the mn. So we both agreed to give it a bit more time and thought and maybe we will come back to it. Too bad for the auto-correct!
  • @nhardler lol. Emmett Otter’s Jug Band Christmas is my FIL favorite movie!  :D

  • My AS is tomorrow and I've been thinking of names. If it's a boy we have his name set. If it's a girl her name will be Clara but we're stuck for a middle name. I like Elizabeth but a close friend just had a baby and her daughter's middle name is Elizabeth. Any suggestions?

@JNCPro3130 I love Clara! I think Elizabeth is a good name, and sharing middle names between family and close friends isn’t weird to me... but other ideas— Violet, Grace, Jane, Marie, Madeline, Irene, Catherine, May, Dorothy
  • @holli0801, I've always loved the name Katherine/Catherine. Do you think the hard C in both Clara and Catherine is too much?

  • @JNCPro3130 I like the mn Elizabeth and I wouldn't worry about it recently being used by a friend. It's a fairly common middle name.  My grandmother's man was Elizabeth which she passed on to my aunt as her middle name, that aunt's 2 daughter's mns are Elizabeth, her granddaughter's MN is Elizabeth and my mn is Elizabeth.  Lots of us with the mn Elizabeth in our family.
But if you don't go that route I think Clara Catherine sounds beautiful too!
