@mmb4532 glad you and baby are okay! did you go get checked out or put a call into your OB? I was in a minor accident on Monday, i got checked out at the hospital and all seemed fine but I am thinking of calling my OB for a quick appt for peace of mind.
@mmb4532, agreed you should call in just for peace of mind, but so glad you're alright.
Guys, I made it to nap time! The twins have been complete grumpy all morning and I'm still so tired from whatever this bug is, that I was beginning to wonder if we could do it. They are lunch really well and cleaned up all their messes with minimal push back! After breakfast this morning I went through the whole house with clorox wipes. DH said he had cleaned the counters, bathrooms, and such but I did banisters, cabinet handles, doorknobs, light switches, remotes- anything I could think of that we touched. I don't want this bug going around again. He got it 36 hours after DS and I got it at 36 hours after him. DD had one morning of super laziness where we thought she was going to get it, but didn't. I said if we don't have any problems between now and 4 hours from now, I'll consider us all healthy enough to participate in holiday stuff this weekend. Fingers crossed!
I called my OB and they said everything should be fine unless I’m cramping or spotting, I don’t have either thankfully. I’m thinking about going to the emergency room to get checked out though.
@JNCPro3130 you didn't come across that way at all! I think we both have similar views. I'm gonna try to skip epidural and cloth diaper...but, if it doesn't work out it doesn't work out. You definitely didn't seem to be shaming...I was talking more about other people who try and tell me that I will beg for an epidural or disposable diapers. I mean...maybe I will....but, why is it appropriate for them to belittle me? But, yeah....I am all for "you do you" and as princess Poppy said "whatever works for your family"
@Poppy0419 Do you have a pet food express near you? They do buy 3 get the fourth free. So I always buy 4 bags at a time of dog food, since our lab-pointer mix goes through 35lbs a month (and we regularly foster bigger dogs).
So I'm sitting down watching criminal minds. I was going to try and get some cookies baked tonight but standing up and baking sounds awful right now. I did a sink full of dishes this morning, and played for a couple of hours with DS, went to work for a few hours, and then did more Christmas shopping followed by grocery shopping (with DS for both stores!) and then put groceries away, fed DS, gave him a bath and put him to bed. I can give up for the day, right?
Before we had kids, DH and I made a deal that he would forever be in charge of puke. Our children, however, don't seem to be on board. DD1 tries to their up exclusively when DH isn't there. DD2 only throws up directly on me. I say this because DH went to run an errand and now there's puke all over the bathroom.
@suchaglencoco I feel your pain. I hope you have reached the end.
@sandbar517 congrats on a girl! It will be so fun watching your daughters together.
Churros in NY are not the same as churros in CA. Is it like this everywhere? The NY churro had a weird filling and almost no cinnamon or sugar. It was such a let down.
@mmb4532 your poor car! I’m so glad you’re okay. Things can be replaced, people cannot!
@kpc914 ummmm that sounds like a life saver. I’m always amazed at how much these dogs can eat and still have plenty of stomach room to surf my counters. I’ll look into it!
@suchaglencoco that's an awesome post. I was talking to another couple about ou r husbands having a guy's weekend. She suggested they get vasectomies together and that everyone celebrate it. They weren't very amused by that plan, but maybe they'd be on board if they got a cake.
@mileswithmyles I think you got a weird NY churro. That doesn’t sound like any I’ve had there or here. Guess you’ll have to go back to NYC to find out!
@mileswithmyles I would pass on churros outside of CA. While the one you tried sounds like an “inventive take on a churro”, even if you get one that is traditional, they’re just not anywhere near as good outside of SoCal.
@mmb4532and @holli0801 didn't wanna clutter up the Anatomy Scan thread, but just wanted to say thanks for the encouragement. I'm sure baby boy will be more amazing than I can imagine
Welcome! It was a tough moment for me for sure. It didn’t help that my MIL scolded me after I said I was hoping for a girl. I just had to change my plans a little. But I’m happy Baby is healthy and doing well.
We started sanding the furniture for DS’s “big boy room” today. It was mine growing up and was my aunt’s before that. It feels good to start the project. We’re hoping he can move into his new room by the end of winter break and then we can focus on tackling the baby’s room
I am running out of mommy patience right now. DS has been so defiant for the last week. MIL watched him a couple of days last week when our babysitter was gone visiting family. And since then he just screams. She refuses to discipline him though and when he misbehaves she just says "well aren't we in a mood" and then gives him whatever he wanted. Last week he didn't have dinner any of the nights that she watched him because she let him eat cookies and chips all afternoon and then he wouldn't eat dinner. This week he has been just trying to get back to that. I'm sure it hasn't helped that we have been a little bit busier with some holiday things and off schedule. I'm just so ready to be done with Christmas. I normally love this time of year but right now I'm just over it.
@theletlers, you find out just how important a schedule is for children when you get out of your routine. Here's hoping things settle down for you and your DS.
Me too. We are now about 40 minutes past bedtime and I can hear him kicking things off his bed and talking to his teddy bear. At least that second part is cute.
A thought on the hardness of parenting-3 good minutes can make up for 3 bad hours. DS was a needy baby-always happy when being held, always screaming when not. Today I would say that parenting is about 80% good/neutral and 20% hard for me. That being said, I work full time and DH is a SAHD

Also, in regards to PPD, I knew it would be an issue, so I proactively warned my Drs and coached DH ahead of time about how to get me help. The medical system would have let me fall through the cracks, but we were fine because we sought help instead of waiting for it to be offered.

A Facebook acquaintance created a facebook event for her child's first birthday basically right after she was born with all the plans already laid out. A bit much in my opinion but whatever obsessed FTM. Now she's posting pictures of gift ideas for her child. Am I way off or is that tacky AF?
@gildah I guess I thought of tacky cause I feel like it's one step below creating a registry and for a birthday party that is too much in my opinion. I think in this case she is just an extremely obsessive FTM. These people are kind of weird anyway.
@charlestonchew oh yeah I didnt think of that. Yes, that’s super tacky. Also, maybe this is just me, but I never talk about parties on social media or really anywhere. I always worry I accidentally forgot to invite someone! Of course, I understand posting pictures of weddings and such, but that’s a little different
For J’s first birthday I just added a note to the Facebook invite saying we are not expecting presence but J’s sizes are this, his favorite character is this, he’s into these types of toys, and he really loves books. I thought that wasn’t the most Emily Post way to handle it, but I was thanked by a lot of veteran mom friends for adding it to the invite so they had an idea of what to gift. Probably a regional preference and my select group of friends though.
As a complete sidenote: it really bothers the shit out of me when people ask me what he would want for Christmas or for his birthday and I tell them that he loves books and they think I’m just being an over possessive crazy first time mom with him… really he will read every single book he owns at least twice a day by himself and making us read them too, but he ignores most of his toys. He has been into trains and cars lately though LOL
@ivyvines6 this is the same person who picked the same wedding date as me for the following year. Now I'm due around her child's first birthday so since the party is like a week after my due date I think that's a good enough excuse not to attend. I did attend her wedding on my first anniversary.
I have another Facebook friend who just posted they had a private wedding and save the date for a reception in 3 months! Maybe I need different friends.
Yeah that’s PLENTY of time to plan your life around for a wedding!
My brother proposed to his girlfriend last night and she’s already making a huge deal about wanting to get married at the beginning of May... I’m not excited about their engagement anyway because they are 19 and 18, and still live with my parents, but I’m gonna be a little occupied during that time, and I already called dibs on my mother for that entire month.
