  • @cups4, Wow!  You are at school until Friday!  Bless you!  We are struggling and today is our last day.  Good luck!  I'm glad you are feeling better though!

  • @suchaglencoco that's a good point, but I just totally suck at ever keeping my mouth shut, haha.
  • As far as the meds go in labor, it amazes me the people (especially with my first) who would say, "Make sure you ask for the epidural as soon as you get to the hospital!"  For anyone thinking about getting one, apparently it can take awhile so that might be good advice to go by.  For me, I always just told people I'd see how things go and let them laugh it off as a FTM thing.  I'm not gonna lie though... It was SOOO nice to tell people I did it after I gave birth without the epidural and then to talk about how much I LOVED cloth diapering DS... so satisfying to see people almost look disappointed that they couldn't say "I told you so".
    SAME!
  • @suchaglencoco ahaha that's amazing. Although also makes me laugh at myself because I actually have been probably way too open about the fact that this baby got in me by IVF! Can't keep secrets :p

    So our friends and neighbours are going through a really hard time right now as their youngest is in the ICU with a bad flare up of asthma. I want to do something to help and was thinking of making a soup or casserole of some kind of bring over. The dad has celiac so does anyone have suggestions of good gluten free recipes? Or if you've been in a similar situation, is there something you wish people had done to help other than the usual bringing by food?

    @thunderberry  you could do a gift card to a restaurant you know they like or to a place they could order from and not have to cook?
  • @thunderberry Edible Arrangements are always my go to. I’m a terrible cook though.

    @suchaglencoco I hope you are continuing to feel better and rid of the stomach bug soon!

    @sandbar517 Happy Birthday! Hope your AS went/goes well!

  • @thunderberry beef stew! As far as gluten issues go as long as you avoid anything with flour in it, you’re usually safe.
  • @suchaglencoco I hope you feel better soon!
    @sandbar517 Happy bday!
    @thunderberry completely agree. It doesn't hurt to have a game plan and try to go without drugs if that's your jam. I hate that people are so nosy about that stuff. Obviously, I enjoy discussing this stuff on here because a) a lot of you ladies have been there before and it helps to get some insight, and b)our group is supportive/realistic no matter what your "birth plan" is (or lack therof).
    @JNCPro3130 @ivyvines6 admittedly, a part of me is definitely loving the idea of being able to tell my friend who said I would hate cloth diapering, how amazing it is. I love a good challenge/chance to prevent them from being able to say "I told you so." Again, nothing wrong with wanting all the drugs and disposable diapers in the world, I just hate that people tell me "oh you will definitely want epidural and disposable diapers." They don't know and I won't know until I'm actually in the moment.
  • @kpc914, I'm really sorry! I hope I didn't come across as mommy shaming with med free and cloth diapers. I'm all for "do you". I'm prone to migraines and heard about women getting them for months after having an epidural. It freaked me out; however, I'm in the "just get the baby out" camp. In the long run, it doesn't matter if you had a vaginal med free birth, c section, or anywhere in between. What matters is that the baby was delivered by whatever method was safest for mommy and baby.

    As for CD, we did it (initially) to save money. We probably spent $500-$600 and are set for not only DS when he was in diapers but also this LO. On the flip side, they aren't for everyone. I don't side eye or judge anyone for how diaper their baby. It's easy once you get the hang of it but it takes work and I don't judge people for not wanting to do it.

    All that to say, do whatever works for your family. Birth plans, diapers, BFing, and parenting (for the most part) is about what works for you, baby, and your family. :)

    @thunderberry So glad your scan looked great! Ours went well too. Kid wasn't being cooperative, so the ultrasound tech couldn't get a great profile shot of the jaw and nasal bone, but they said the one they got at the 16-week scan looked good enough to not have to try too hard ha.
  • @mmb4532 Oh no!  So glad you guys are okay!
