I’m doing better, my blood pressure is better and I am done my 24 hour magnesium IV which I highly advise you avoid in life if possible! They have been collecting my urine (in big jugs! On ice!) for 24 hours and finally just took it away to see the average protein levels. If things keep improving I may be able to leave tonight or tomorrow. It was a scary 36 hours or so, they were talking delivery shortly after the steroid shots and today I was supposed to have a tour of the NICU.
But for now,it looks like I can go home and just take it very easy, the OB said “modified bed rest “ and the MFM doctor said restricted activity. Basically, don’t sit so still you get blood clots and your muscles atrophy, but I am done going to work where people are counting on me to be sharp and potentially agitated if I’m not, because that gets my BP up way more than a long dog walk would.
I so so appreciate all the well wishes. I also thrilled I will am not making our first birth announcement today! Also, for your enjoyment, I farted super loud into the Lyft I took to the hospital because I couldn’t wait for my husband to get home, as I got out of the car, like a big trombone sound. I ran into the hospital and then tipped him 60% on the app.
ETA: just got an update on the protein test! When a very nice nurse came to get the 2 huge jugs of urine at 3, my mom said “don’t drop it!” as she left. The nurse just had to come back to tell me she did, in fact, drop it, and splashed all my pee all over herself and the elevator. Now I have to start a new 24 hour pee collection. The mental image totally makes up for another 24 hours of playing with my pee pee!
@leilaquinn I am so happy for you that things are doing better. I love that you have had a great sense of humor through all this! The pee thing is pretty funny.
@leilaquinn I'm so glad to hear your update!! The fart story made me LOL (sorry, I'm a sucker for a fart story bc apparently I'm 8 years old) and your pee story made me gasp!! I hope you are able to do the urine capture at home!! Keep us posted!!!!
I keep seeing posts in the birth announcements thread and get anxious/excited then feel like a dork when the posts are requests for stickies!! Why do you do that to me, The Bump Gods?! Just sticky the damn thing!!!!!
@vflux33 yup....I feel totally unprepared. Add the fact I just watched the documentary The Business of Being Born and I realize even more I just want him to slide outta there magically.
@cford08 I remember enough of that movie from when I saw it years ago to know that I don't want to watch it now lol. Also the whole home birth thing is out for me because I'm high risk. But yeah, seriously, I am completely terrified. C section, nope. Vaginal birth, nope. Potential of vaginal birth of first baby followed by C section for second baby, nope, nope, nope. I would probably give a pinky toe (or 2) to get these guys outta here without going through either of those experiences. I have no interest in the magic of childbirth (FFSC?), I just want it to be over and for everyone to be OK.
@vflux33 have you read about transition?? During my transition with DS I basically was thinking “Ots 2015! There’s got to be an easier way to get this baby out of me!”
Has anyone had to have any dental work done while pregnant? A piece of one of my molars cracked or chipped off last night. It doesn't hurt constantly, but if I bite wrong it's pretty uncomfortable. Do they fix stuff like that while you're pregnant or do you have to wait until you deliver? I'll call my dentist tomorrow, butI have really really bad dental anxiety so I'm freaking myself out about it.
@vflux33 I do not encourage anyone to read or watch birth stories lol MAYBE the "easy" ones. I was just saying to my mom friends, there's a reason no one tells you about what happens AFTER birth, and then you get so caught up watching the babies grow up you forget.
If it makes you feel any better, I'm on #2 and I'm terrified too. Cuz I already know wassup smh
@KASG I'm totally with you, this is #2 And I'm way more scared this time since I had a 32 hour labor the first time and the pain is still fresh!! I always say and remind myself that labor is 1-2 days of your life and no matter what they have to come out and you have no choice so no need to stress about it!
@crossfitbabybump I've been meaning to tell you I got my welcome box from BabyList last week! Maybe Thursday? So that was just about 2 weeks from when I asked about it.
@crossfitbabybump yeah, it was about 2 weeks after I emailed the lady at BabyList that I got it in the mail. I'd set up my registry about 3-4 weeks before I emailed them though. I know there was certain criteria you had to meet in order to receive a box. I think it was set a shower date, due date, and have at least 30 unique items. After I emailed them, this appeared at the top whenever I was signed in. Does yours show this? If not, maybe email them and ask about it!
@crossfitbabybump@stlbuckeye132 I emailed Babylist today about a box and got a pretty fast response that they weren't doing boxes at the moment. I almost emailed her back and complained but she caught me on a good day. Hopefully you'll get one!
@ksmwalters what that's so weird! I wonder why they're telling people different things? If I'm being honest though, the box wasn't anything super spectacular.
