Two weeks until Christmas! How is everybody's holiday prep going?
I think most of my shopping is done. I still need to wrap. Next weekend DD is getting pictures with Santa and I'm going to bake a ton of treats! And my holiday card will likely become a New Year's card.
Me: 30 H: 30 Dx: PCOS Married: June 2013 TTC#1: January 2015 BFP #1 8/24/15 | MC 9/3/15 at 6w2d BFP #2: 12/12/15 | DD born 8/29/16 TTC#2: June 2017 BFP #3: 7/15/17 | DS born 3/20/18
I think we’re ready! Just need to do stockings which are fairly easy. Just waiting on a few packages from amazon. We haven’t done our baking or looked at the lights yet etc we probably will the 23 because last minute seems like the only time we will have time.
This week is prep week week to paint the nursery and DS’ room and we’re tackling the rooms this weekend. Our room can wait till the new year. Wish me luck
kind of disappointed we were expecting to wake up to snow and there’s still none.
@becausescience i am usually always scrambling at the last minute
BUT I'm doing well this year! All of the shopping is done, just waiting on a few packages. Im super proud of myself ha. Im usually paying $40 shipping two days before xmas for a $20 item, but not this year!
@GG620 thanks! I’m the painter, not H which sucks. I just told him to have everything prepped for me and I’m going to take my time.
Good job on early shopping. This is my first year doing (almost) everything online and I don’t think I’ll ever go back. Love avoiding the mall lineups!
@syssa-o i am right there with you. My mom was a professional house painter so i truly know how to paint so it was all on me (plus im probably a bit of a perfectionist because of it haha). I actually just completed a 360 degree harry potter mural for this little girl's nursery and am psyched about it. I am going to post pics in thr nursery theme thread i think.
Side note - does anyone else get all happy and excited each time our birth month board moves down one when a new one opens?! Ha
I finished up MH and DS last week. I’m hoping my Christmas gift is a refinance and rolling all of our debt into our mortgage. I also finished up my ILs last week. I’m going to make salt dough ornaments with C for his cousins this week and I need to come up with another little idea. We might send a kit to make cookies or pizza or something. My SIL has the same problem that we do—my MIL/her mom buys the kids so much stuff that it is overwhelming.
I still need to find something for my mom, Aunt and cousin, but I finished my sister up this weekend. I have three gifts here to wrap and mail for family back east and we haven’t started wrapping C’s gifts yet but I’d like to get that done this week.
Okay, so as a FTM, I don't know what all comes with being pregnant. The last few weeks I've been feeling more emotional, irritated and annoyed. Saturday, I cried after my glucose test while I was eating, for no reason. I feel like it's getting worse and not sure what to do? Nothing is really wrong, work has been great, my DH (bless him) has been so good to me but I just can't kick this irritation. Any advice on this? I'm sure it's normal but it concerns me at the same time.
@crossfitbabybump I hope you feel better soon! I'm in the same boat. I've been super emotional today, acerbated by stress and no sleep... I'll probably talk to my doctor about it at my OB appt on Friday; but for me, I think it's just the sleeplessness and work stress.
@crossfitbabybump as baby gets bigger, your hormones are going to get crazier. Not to mention all the extra hormones our bodies release as they prep for labor.
However, please please please be weary of post partum depression. You don’t need to have a history of depression to be effected by it, and just because it’s called “post partum” doesn’t mean it can’t start effecting you pre-baby. Talk to your doctor, and your husband, and anyone else you have for support.
Other than that, just take care of yourself. Water, eat healthy, excersize even if it’s just a walk around the neighborhood. Sending good vibes that these hormones get a little less crazy!
@crossfitbabybump I am right there with you. I was reading through these threads earlier and saw a few other people were also emotional as well, which reassured me that it's not my depression coming back. My husband was tickling me the other night and he accidentally poked me harder than he meant and I started SOBBING. It barely hurt but yet I was bawling like someone had died. Other days I feel this almost rage over the stupidest things like when I drop something on the floor. I think it's a normal part of pregnancy which is contrary to what the apps tell you. I don't know if you get any of these but I get little updates from the bump and Babycenter and a few weeks ago they said hormones may start to normalize . UH NO THEY HAVEN'T. I don't have advice but you are not alone!!!

Sitting at the dr office waiting for my hour to pass after drinking the glucose drink. That last 1/4 of the bottle was hard to swallow! I too have felt different emotions. Most of them anger at DH or myself. But sleep is also not coming as easily and that probably has a part in it too
@muggle621@ShawnnaO@pregobeth - thank you ladies! It's definitely reassuring knowing I'm not alone. It's scary because I've read up on post partum depression and it sucks to think about having. I just want the best for my little girl. I have an apt tomorrow and they always ask me how I'm feeling emotionally. I just don't want them to brush it off as, "oh that's totally normal." when it could be something bigger. I will be sure to reiterate that to them as well. Sending hugs to all of you
@muggle621 That thread was crazy scammy! I read it at lunch too. I'm impressed by the sleuthing though - I think it was @Gingermom15 who saw they were asking for Uppababy, Mamaroo, and [insert other expensive brand I can't remember] on their registry. Nobody could afford a baby if those brands were required!

I've definitely been feeling more emotional lately too, @crossfitbabybump - especially frustration/anger, which I know can be a manifestation of anxiety. Definitely keep checking in with yourself and your support system! Hugs to you!
And OMG that thread! I googled her registry and definitely did some side-eyeing at the Mamaroo and moved along. Some people!
I facebook stalked the girl from that registry thread (I mean, she gave her full name, so...) and she definitely had tons of family commenting on her posts and whatnot. Weird since she claimed she had no one.
@crossfitbabybump Insanely emotional over here as well. I cried so much yesterday that I actually didn’t feel human. And I still feel like I could cry at the drop of a hat today. Over everything. I agree with whoever mentioned above though to watch for PPA/PPD after. I have dealt with PPA after having both kids, so I’m kind of preparing for it this time and basically planning to start meds again. Be an awesome surprise not to deal with it, but I don’t know what my chances are.
@syssa-o The snow is coming. We finally got some here. I am heading to your city on Thursday for my son's hockey, and just hoping it doesnt choose to come then. @GG620 I love watching our board move!
TW So today I found out someone I worked with was involved in a fatal car collision, and unfortunately passed away. It's just so shocking when your hear of this stuff. END TW And I just started Christmas shopping today. But got the majority done. Now to wrap...the worst is transporting all the wrapped gifts in my vehicle, with my kids, 3hrs to where we celebrate Christmas. I think I will utilize my stow and go compartments! Yay minivan...
@ksmwalters@chasingroygbiv - hugs to you ladies!! I went and saw my mom today and helped her decorate their tree and she had homemade chili ready. And I got to see my brothers girlfriend, who I adore. They listened to me and we laughed and felt the baby’s hiccups again. I guess I just needed some family time. Always good to check in ❤️

That sounds lovely! Much needed this time of year! PG hormones are crazy! One day at a time!
We did most of our shopping over the weekend via Amazon or online. We have SO many packages coming our way that I made a snack basket for our our mail carrier, and other delivery people. They are going to be coming to my house all week, may as well feed them! Haha
@chasingroygbiv@baybeesunflower this insomnia is so annoying! I’ve been up for a few hours getting more annoyed I’m awake as time goes on. I finally decided to pick up my phone & start catching up on here. Ughh pregnancy insomnia
@Kalawa we got our first snow. I haven’t gone outside to see how extensive it was yet but it started yesterday at 3 and went through most of the night. Guess I need to give myself some time to shovel before I leave today! Lol
We're all ready for Christmas here!!! Nesting kicked in and I had almost everything done before December even started lol! Anyone have any gifts they are super excited about giving?? We got DS1 a play kitchen and I'm soo excited! The only reason I've been able to not give it to him eary is because I kept it disassembled in the box haha.
2 things: We got a call from our first choice in home daycare and we got the spot. There was one couple that ahead of us but needed it a couple months before her availability so they had to pass! I feel so relieved!
Speaking of amazon packages... I ordered a few things Saturday and we have Amazon prime with free 2 day shipping, so of course I check the status yesterday and it said to be delivered Wednesday. It's not a huge deal, but when I was telling my husband last night that ordering Saturday and not getting it until Wednesday is NOT 2 day shipping. He said I sounded like a stuck up bitch . It was all in joking matter and when I thought about it, I totally did. How spoiled are we that we can get things from all over the US in just 2 days?
@scoogy19 I am excited about all my kids presents! We got my son a tv for his room so he's not trapped watching whatever DD wants all the time. And DD is getting a huge dollhouse and the only thing she really wanted was a rainbow dash hair styling set.
@scoogy19 I bought my mom a wishing well for her yard that I’m really excited about! She’s wanted one for years and even though it’s not exactly what she wants, I think it will be a good place holder until my dad can build her the one she wants!
