Re: January 2018 IVF

  • @KristoKekerooni Same here. Going overseas would save at least 2k. You may as well ask, I mean they give us copies to pick up BC for it all. Wish you the best!

  • @kristimh80 This is our 2nd round of IVF. We did one in August and got 3 embies, of which we’ve used 2 unsuccessfully. So we’re back to get more.

  • @KristoKekerooni is there any way that your doctor in NY can have your doctor in your state write the prescription so that you can use that to get it overseas?

  • @Bababatty welcome! I remember you from the TTGP board.

@KristoKekerooni I didn't know you were gonna be in NY! Which clinic (if you don't mind me asking)? Since you are traveling for it all, if you get bored and need someone to have dinner with, let me know- assuming your clinic is in Manhattan!

  • @kristimh80 I agree, going on birth control right before IVF just seems odd. DH certainly isn't complaining though, mainly because the same thing that always happens when I go on birth control happened yet again.......my boobs got bigger. And I swear it happened over night! I just looked in the mirror one morning and though "Huh, well then"

  • I am 27 and I've done 3 rounds of IUI with no luck.  I'm now do ing IVF and my egg retrieval is supposed to happen at the end of this week.  On day 11 of stims my eggs were only at 12mm which worries me because I don't think they'll be ready by the end of the week.  Did anyone have large egg growth toward the end of stims?
  • @lablover78. That is amazing! Love it!

@marfi236 so exciting,  No more waiting!

AFM, all meds are ordered and are arriving Friday. I start Lupron on Tuesday. My pharmacy said there is a rebate for Gonal F, so for those of you paying cash you can look into it. It’s 10% so for me that’s about $130 back. Not much but still something. The guy who was processing my order said oh and we will include a sharps bin and a bunch of alcohol wipes on the house. Gee....thanks for being so generous hahaha.
  • I hadn’t thought of a sharps bin- did you ladies who have done previous cycle purchase one?

  • @eld0402 Hi! You might want to ask on the December Ivf board. This is the January board so we haven’t started our cycle yet and I think for most of us it’s our first IVF. Good luck!! I hope your follicles keep growing!

  • @marfi236 Thata great news!

@shortstack930 glad to hear everything went well and you’re moving forward!

@lablover78 I got a sharps bin when I started doing IUIs for my trigger shot. They are super cheap and you can just get it from your speciality pharmacy with your order.
  • @lablover78 For my last IVF cycle, they threw in a sharps bin and alcohol wipes. In fact, because of the state demonstration program I was doing, I didn’t get all my drugs in one lump but had to go every few days for more based on how I was responding—and every time they tried to give us a sharps container, lol. We had to keep pulling it out of the bag and handing it back. Ask your pharmacy if one isn’t with your meds. It should be cheap if not free.

@eld0402 I believe follies grow at about 2mm/day. I’d ask your RE if they are concerned. They might be looking to make you stim longer, depending on how your other hormones look.

    @marfi236 Yay! That’s great news!

@shortstack930 Also Yay to you! It’s always a relief to get through the tests as one less hurdle.

Looks like this board is gearing up! I’m excited for us!
  • Thanks for the remind...I don't want another sharps bin! Or another Follistim pen either LOL Guess it's protocol, but I feel like I have a collection of green Follistim pouches...least they could do is change the color up  :D

  • @kristimh80 I just disposed of all the extra follistim needles from my last cycle. I know they’ll give me a whole pile more and even if I somehow screwed it up every single day, I would never use all of those needles! My old follistim pen pouches are still in the back of the fridge, haha.
  • @bababatty I probably need to throw those out too! lol I have a green pouch collection in the pantry. Guess will need to find my new "medicine area" in the fridge. My vitamins almost take up where I use to keep it all. #suchamess

  • @kiwi2628 I’m sorry about your canceled cycle this month. I know that everything that goes wrong is just another thing we worry about going forward, so especially with IVF it feels like a compounding series of things to stress over. Do you feel good about your RE’s plan going forward? Are they changing your protocol?
  • @bababatty I do and I don't feel good. I was on an antagonist protocol with estrogen priming last time. During my IVF consult for my first cycle, my RE said that because of my age and numbers to expect 15-20 eggs and he was very confident. The low follicle number during my cycle was a super surprise to both him and me. This coming cycle I will be on a microdose lupron. My REs office does an antagonist cycle for most their first IVF cycle (as opposed to a lot of clinics that start with a long lupron). For people with low AMH/DOR/poor responders most clinics do either the antagonist protocol or the MDL...well I have already failed the antagonist, so we are moving to MDL. My RE said that within their practice (and they are the largest practice in CT), MDL *typically* has a better response for poor responders (although studies show its a toss up), and he said some people respond to MDL better than antagonist, while others response terribly to MDL and better to antagonist. So, while I feel glad to be changing it up, I am terrified that I will be someone that responds better to antagonist and that my numbers last cycle are going to be as good as they get and that I will respond poorly to MDL, which sucks for someone my age and with my numbers.

But who knows, maybe I will respond well to MDL. My RE said that his goal would be 10 follicles, which means that he is realistic with me that I will probably never have large numbers, but he is hopeful that MDL will work better for me. He did, however, say there is a chance I won't respond as well and we will be back at square 1. Soooo...yea, both good and bad, lol.
  • @kiwi2628 I can see where the good and bad comes in! I’m so sorry you’re still in a place of uncertainty. I’m glad that your RE is trying to be responsive to the situation at hand. FX the MDL is the ticket!

@kiwi2628 ((hugs)) So sorry for everything you've had to deal with thus far. Hopefully, the new plan of action from your RE is exactly what you need! I remember just starting IUI's I was on a femara combo cycle. My body could have cared less about femara, but follistim worked the next time 100 times better. So hopefully, that's just what your body needs for a kick in the right direction! :)

  • Hello ladies,

    Hope y'all don't mind if I join.

I have been pregnant 5 times 1 resulted in a miscarriage and the other 4 were ectopic. Both of my fallopian tubes were removed Right side removed (2010) left side (2012). I found out that both tubes were damage due to PID (pelvic inflammatory disease). My husband has 3 boys from a previous relationship.

@hoffmanr7 I am extremely close to your schedule!  Baseline us on the 28th. Start monitoring us and labs in the 2nd. RE thinks my retrieval will be either the 8th or the 10th.

I got my meds yesterday and my pharmacy included a little package of Hershey kisses. That made my day!
  • @hoffmanr7 @J1106 So excited for you two!! It'll be here before you know it! My ER probably won't be until the end of January, so I'm excited to follow your journey's!

  • Ughhh, AF just came (4 days early! And yes, early, since I triggered so I know when I O'd), so I will have to be on BC longer than original since my clinic is closed for new IVF cycles until January 2nd. I mean, it will still only be 11 or 12 days, but still. Anyway, I guess this is the start of IVF #2!
