Re: Symptoms Thread- 12/4

  • @midnight-muse that cheese sandwich story is the best thing ever. I think you and I might be the same person.

Y'all can add me to the list of sudden back pain, night sweats, and leaking boobs (literally yelled "Stop it, stupid nipple!" today).

I've been sleeping on the couch for the last week because it feels so much better on my back for some reason. Miss my nightly cuddles with DH though!
  • Last night I had a horrible nightmare, woke up in a complete sweat and then got a super painful charley horse. Wtf. This is the second time this pregnancy I have gotten a charley horse in the middle of the night.

  • @JJMNO1616 I got them so bad last pregnancy in the night in my calves. I’ve had a few this time but nothing in comparison. They are rough!

  • @JJMNO1616 I got those all the time with DS. They haven't happened yet this time but I remember the pain!

I had a nightmare about our house burning last night. I was running around putting out fires. I shouldn't have watched that fb video about how a dry christmas tree can burn your living room in 2 minutes
  • @ngolimento That GIF is hilarious. I was telling my husband in a few months I may need to start using the "expectant mother" parking spot at the grocery store when I start waddling.. He informed me that I have already started.  :|
@riversdoctor Have you asked your doctor about having kombucha during pregnancy? I never asked my OB but I should because I miss it so dang much. I used to drink it 4-5 times a week before pregnancy for my stomach and read mixed reviews about having it during pregnancy and even breastfeeding. I told my husband that's one thing I want after delivery!  :D I use "Theralac" for my probiotic, and it's been a lifesaver. Hoping things settle down for you!

Overall, I've been feeling okay. My back/hip pain depends on the day and can really affect my sleeping when it's bad. I wake every night with such a dry mouth and am so thirsty when I wake up in the morning. Also.. I feel like whenever I stand after sitting for a little bit I have to run to use the bathroom. My urgency is crazy so I am worried about how I'm going to make it through our entire ultrasound tomorrow with a full bladder.  :D
  • @dan0081 I used to have Kombucha a few times a week, too. I switched to Kevita which is a probiotic drink but seems to not contain alcohol (just for the first trimester). Kombucha you buy on the shelf generally has the same amount of alcohol or ever so slightly more than bottled juice would, the danger comes when you make it at home and don't know whether that has started to happen or to what level. I won't drink any home-made or 'micro-brew' type Kombucha until after the baby is born, but I would definitely have half bottle of GT's couple times a week without worry.

@dan0081 feeling you on the urgency issue! The last few days have just been like, sitting for awhile, no need to pee, stand to go do something, "YOU MUST PEE NOW!" It's really not fun because then by the time I finish peeing, I've forgotten why I stood up to begin with!
  • @dan0081 you shouldn't have to hold it the whole ultrasound, only a small portion in the beginning!  When I got my AS done, she said my bladder was too full right away that she couldn't see what she was trying to measure (I think it was the cervix), so she just told me to go pee (relieeef), and then she got everything she needed, lol.  I didn't even follow the normal drinking instructions because I have to pee all the time and I knew I'd explode if I did what the paper said.

  • Ditto to what psuxray07 said, this late in the game they only need a full bladder for the cervix check, which is done first.  I never follow the directions they give for holding your bladder, because it causes a lot of pain for me, and ends up with too much in there.  I just chug a lot of water 20 minutes before the appt, and it has always been perfect.

  • @JJMNO1616 about the Charlie horse—when that happens, as much as it might hurt, immediately raise your foot as high as it can go. (Don’t raise your leg, just raise your foot so your toe goes toward the ceiling—does that make sense??) The reverse tension always works for me.

I’ve had them so bad (even not pregnant) and they last a while. I hate them!!

Yes! That is exactly what I do... I force my foot to go the other way and I also immediately start massaging my calf. I also try to get out of bed after the initial pain goes away to prevent it from happening again. I used to get them a lot when I was in high school. I was very physically active at that time in my life with sports so I assume it was a combination of muscle fatigue and dehydration but I literally don't do anything physical these days and I drink so much water! No clue what is causing them.
  • @JJMNO1616 my midwife suggested using rubbing alcohol on a leg cramp to help relax it. I haven't needed the tip yet so I can't vouch for how affective it is but she seems pretty knowledgeable when it comes to stuff like that.
  • @dan0081 yup she’s the one who recommended it with the antibiotics.  Like @sarahkate2233 said to stick with the store bought stuff. I get the ones without much sugar though because I know antibiotics can set you up for yeast overgrowth.
  • @riversdoctor That's a good point too - some of the flavored ones have a lot of sugar. The kevita has artificial sweetened ones - would that work?

I stick with real sugar but try to keep it under 8g per serving. My sugar intake is normally pretty low.
  • @SarahKate31 That's great insight! I don't love Kevita unfortunately.. I'm obsessed with GT's Synergy-Triology so I am thinking I will add it back soon or for sure when baby arrives.
@ftm_ohio Haha, you are describing the story of my life! Ah.
@psuxray07 That is good to know! I was going to drink water before we left for the appointment, and it takes approximately 30 minutes in traffic so I'm really hoping you're right I don't have to hold it the whole time.  :#
  • @riversdoctor Hallelujah! That just made my day to hear that.  :)
  • @dan0081 OMG synergy trilogy was life before I got pregnant. But I haven't had any kombucha since I found out. I miss it so much!!

I got charley horses in my calves with my last pregnancy every time I stretched after waking up or if i arched my foot the wrong way. I just had to stop stretching and be really careful about the way I moved my feet, which could be totally uncomfortable. This time around I'm afraid to even to try to strecht.
  • @kmalls OH NO!! I've run into more door frames since being pregnant than I have in my whole life! Not with eggs in my pockets tho!! That's awful!
  • I woke up twice last night with my arms asleep. I kind of remember it happening last pregnancy too. But between bathroom visits and arm shaking I feel like I got little sleep last night.

  • @mcb2016 yes! It could be the mandated side-sleeping but I keep having my arms fall asleep too
  • @kmalls ughhh!!! (full admission, that made me giggle and is something I would do)

  • @mcb2016 is that a thing?!  Because my right hand and wrist go numb when I'm sleeping.  Even if I'm laying on my left side.  Then when I'm trying to brush my hair and get ready, etc, it goes numb again.  Sometimes if I lean during the day I feel it in my shoulder and arm, but it's mostly when sleeping and in the morning.  I have never had it before.

  • @psuxray07   I've heard of people getting carpel tunnel syndrome while pregnant!  I think mine is from sleeping in weird positions.
