@suchaglencoco we are in the same boat with naming. One of us will throw out a name randomly but it hasn't been a serious discussion yet. We find out gender on 12/12 so maybe it'll be a more serious conversation then. I feel like we'll go into delivery with a couple options and pick one after we meet the baby. We'll see!
As of now, I think we are going with Summer Sage. However, my one hang up is I feel like it doesn't go well with our son's name which is Henrik Gordon. Thoughts? I go back and forth thinking how they are separate people and it doesn't matter but I also think they should sound good together. I think I'm stuck because our second boy name worked so well with the first.
@heelsidehero I think Henrik and summer sound just fine together. I wouldn't give it another thought. I'm also a little partial to the name summer and it's up there on our list too
Now that we know it's a girl we're hitting the books. I've settled on Luna as my favorite. DH doesn't hate it which is saying something because usually I get "NO!" from him lol.

I love that name! My DH always says it like Rocky Balboa would though, because he is the ruiner of all things lovely -.-
@heelsidehero First of all, the siblings' names sound just fine together. However, I will say that I honestly have never understood the idea that siblings names need to "go" together. Pick a name that you love, regardless of your son's name. Summer Sage makes me think of a big pot of sage growing in the summer sun. Very peaceful.
Lol I dunno I like sibling names that either both common or uncommon, or traditional. Ran into that issue this time since my son is named Kale, simple yet uncommon name. Kale & George would be weird sibling names together lol. But I think it's more for same sex siblings than boy/girl.
BTW I think that Henrik & Summer are beautiful together and compliment each other.
@kendrajos I totally get what you mean. I have a friend with a very unusual African name and her brother's name is Chris. She has always thought it was weird and they don't sound like they go together.
We are set on Austin Robert if #2 is a boy but have struggled with girl names. My sister has a 5 yr old girl and just had twin girls in March so I joke that she took all the good girl names (Emma, Abigail & Madison). Adding to it, I promised my grandpa that we would use his mom's name as a middle name for a girl so I have to find something that goes with Olive....As of right now we have 3 names that we have both agreed on: Harper, Paige or Taylor. Though as set as I am on my boy name, I am convinced that if we are having a girl I will have to wait until she is born to officially decide
@Kendrajos I agree!! We have a silas, and my husband and mom really liked sage, but they just didn’t go together stylistically ... and on the other hand, Iris was way too close. We decided on Fiona and I think Silas and Fiona work?...
@mamaimmoos I love Harper (unfortunately my husband did not). Any chance of using Olivia as a mn? I like mn Olive but just to give you more options of names fitting together.
Also, if a boy (even though you have your name picked out) you could consider Oliver to pay tribute.
@kendrajos and @mileswithmyles, I also had a good friend who had a very Polish name, and apparently hated it constantly being mispronounced, so when her little sister was born and her parents let her pick the name, she ended up with Jenny. Never "fit" in my opinion.

@heelsidehero Harper was actually my husbands idea, I was slightly impressed. Olivia is out
Edited because there was WAY more to this that didn't post for some reason
Olivia is out because as far as my Grandpa is concerned Olivia is not Olive, at least that is what he told my aunt when she offered to name her daughter Olivia. Oliver I loved until I met another kid named it and now it is ruined for me.
After two girls we are having a BOY- holy crap. I still can’t believe it. Asher is the front runner for a name but DH wants his middle to be Maco, after his grandfather. I, too, have some family names I’d like to consider using since this will be our last child. He acts like putting a name in from his family is more important and it’s ticking me off. The kid gets HIS last name.
For fun, which do you prefer? Asher Maco Asher Ellis Asher Casey
@k5678 If you’re going to call her Nora, name her Nora! It’s very pretty. My husband’s name is Robert Wesley but his parents always called him Wesley so he has spent his life at school and in adulthood asking people to call him wesley... it annoys him so much that they didn’t just name him Wesley.
@BertieMeetsGertie I really don't mind it but DH refuses to use it as a first name. I joke that she would turn 12 and "rebel" by telling us she wants to go by Olive
@MissusTexas for that same reason and the reason that DSis named for DH’s family members, I am putting up a stink about using a family name from my side for this baby’s middle name.
This will be DD2 and i swear before i was pregnant or thinking about it, i had a list of names i liked. Now, im just like "eh" about anything lol. DD1 is Emmalyn Grace so i am trying to get a name that fits that sibset. Leaning towards Charlotte, and no idea about middle name. But honestly i have no idea lol.

I really like Olivia but it’s just waaaaaay too popular. If we have a girl, we could name her Olivia and call her Olive, but I don’t think we will. Names are so hard! Why must they be so permanent?!

I know a couple people liked my idea of Luna but I want to get some real opinions. Can you see a 30 year old CEO named Luna? That's what I do when thinking of names is think of a professional adult.

I don’t think your name determines your career path...

I wasn't trying to say that. I meant I don't want to give my child a name that people won't take her seriously with as an adult. That's what I worry about. It's a matter of fact I probably wouldn't take someone with the first name of Princess seriously.
k5678 My best friend just named her daughter Nora...I guess go with the name you would use more. With Nora you won't have a nickname. Don't know if that matters to you.
@charlestonchew@lincbeesmom I have 2 Lunas that I teach. Lovely name. And there are so many non traditional names now that I doubt you have to worry about the future.
We have decide on Parker Jane (A mash up of Peter Parker and his girlfriend Mary Jane.) My husband is a huge comic book nerd. And considering he actually came up with an idea I didn't hate I fell in love with the name right away.

I think Luna is fine but I definitely get where you're coming from. One of my account reps for a vendor I do work with is named Cinnamon. It can be a little hard to take her seriously when writing her an email. I feel bad for her honestly.
Re: December Baby Name Thread
we compromised with Luca my last pregnancy but didn’t end up using it.
