  • I’ve never had a hamburger of any kind
  • I loooove a good messy whopper or quarter pounder prepregnancy. With DS' pregnancy, the thought/smell of grease grossed me out.. so no fast food. This little guy... it's not the grease, but can't place why it's not appetizing sounding.

but i should probably thank them both when they get older lol

It took everything in me to shower and get  presentable to go in to work today. Headachey and just off today. And i have a bag of crap food to munch on all day cause my normal decent food would have been tough to bring in this place we're stuck today. Let's not mention the lunch options around here are nothing to write home about.

BUT I'm out in actual maternity clothes today and it feels so good. And the bumpy is showing. :)

  • @doxiemoxie212 have you always been a vegetarian?

  • @marcus7676 growing up I ate chicken or salmon maaaaybe 1-2 times a month? Not super regularly by any stretch. My parents were off and on vegan when I was very little, and then my mom was 100% vegan by the time I was 11-years-old, so, IDK, it just never was really a thing. I became fully vegetarian at the end of 2006.
  • @doxiemoxie212 your husband is vegetarian too, right? Was he always?  Do you think you'll ever eat meat (or have you had any meat cravings while pregnant)?  Is it for ethical reasons or do you not like the taste?  Sorry for being nosey. I dabbled in vegetarianism for years, but it never really stuck, so I love hearing people's responses.
  • @izza2 I think we are the nicest board.  Way nicer than my last BMB and SOOOOOOOO much better than July.  May has been crazy catty lately too.  I think the other boards are just jealous of us and our mostly drama free postings.

So I have a really random questions- but how often do you and/or your SO's talk to your parents?  I have been getting really annoyed with the amount of time DH spends talking to his parents- but I have a feeling it's hormones making me crazy so I haven't said anything, but I'm getting more and more annoyed everyday and worried I"m gonna blow up on him one day soon.

@jsl82 My in-laws live like a 10 min walk from us, so we see them maybe once a month. DH rarely talks to them. I often have to ask his mom questions via text if I have any. My mom lives in CA (we live in NY) so there's a three hour time difference, so when she's working we don't talk as often, but if she's not working we usually talk a couple hours a day - usually when I'm walking somewhere, etc. DH is one of four boys, though, and his parents are still together. I'm an only child, and my mom lives alone. I talk to my dad never on the phone and email him mayyyybe once every 3 months? See him maybe once a year for an hour or two?
  • @jsl82 my ILs live down the road from us and watch DD twice a week.  So at minimum he talks to them twice.  Usually causally throughout the week, but nothing major. My dad lives 2.5 hours away from me, so I usually talk to him at minimum 3 times a week on the phone, and text almost every day.  How much time is your DH spending talking to them?

  • @izza2 if you could kindly point me in the direction of that thread, I would love a good read.

@jsl82 I am not super close with my family, I mean I love them and we talk but not regularly. They all live 4+ hours away and I probably see them every two months or so, more right now because of the holidays. I honestly don't know what I would talk to them about if we talked every day. It might sound harsh but I don't care what they ate for dinner or what their cat threw up today. We talk about the big stuff and we catch up on everything else when we see each other.

My in-laws are a different story. My MIL has always been chatty and she doesn't work and drives to visit people a lot so she will call when she is in the car just to chat. Or she will send a text saying call me when you get off work. I will chat with her probably once a week and we see them once a month (they also live 4+ hours away). When I talk to her I will mention something about MH and she'll be like "yeah we talked about that yesterday" they must chat way more often.

AFM...it was super windy and snowing last night. The loud wind kept the dog up. She would whine at the foot of the bed until I let her in bed with us. Mind you she is 75 lbs, MH is 6'5" and I'm 5'9" and already cant get comfortable most of the time, and the 10 lb cat that sleeps like a log, all in a queen size bed. I did not get much rest. Then because of the snow and ice my 15 min drive took an hour. We didn't go above 5 mph on the highway the whole way.

  • @jsl82 my parents have both passed, but before that, I would talk to my dad every Sunday and occasionally throughout the week.  My H rarely talks to his parents, but we try to Facetime with DS on Sundays (it's not really a conversation).

@doxiemoxie212 I laughed at the McDonald's story.  What are you going to do with the baby? Will you introduce meat to it at all or raise it vegetarian?

  • @marcus7676 vegetarian, definitely, but I'm hoping to keep it an NBD thing - not some kind of forbidden fruit. Given my family is vegan, and DH & I are vegetarian, I think it will be pretty easy in the early years to avoid meat without a big deal. Once we get to kindergarten land it'll probably be a different situation -- for instance, I'd never had anything non-organic or with added sugar until kindergarten, but then (even though I didn't actually like the taste of those things) I wanted them because my friends had them. I don't think we'd ever live somewhere without a fairly sizable veg population, though, so I'm hoping our kids won't ever be the only ones. We'll see how it goes, though. Certainly once they're pre-teens, I'm hopeful that they can make their own decisions without upsetting DH too much.
  • @catlady1215 I had ordered a bunch of maternity clothes on Black Friday and they arrived last week. Felt so good to be showing off the bump that I made DH take me out to dinner somewhere that I knew we’d see a lot of people we know just so I could show it off a bit  :D
  • @ramblebee Lol! My husband plays this almost nightly! He finds it totally hilarious.

  • DH and I have worked at being vegan on and off for a couple of years now. We're about to try again - which is fine with me because my pregnancy cravings have weirdly taken a turn for random vegan foods I like to make. For instance, I make a really tasty "pizza" with sauce, cashews that have taken a whirl in the food processor, nutritional yeast, avocado, and spinach. Last night I felt like I could eat an entire one all by myself. Going to the store today. Actually, I honestly just want all the avocado right now.

  • Ruffles All Dressed chips are life.  They’re like salt & vinegar and BBQ had a baby.  I highly recommend them but don’t blame me for any addiction problems that result.
  • I. Can’t. Stop. Blowing my nose. DD has another cold and shared it with me. 2nd one since the beginning of November, and neither of us usually tend to get sick easily.
@krashke we had the same storm system move through yesterday morning (I’m in ND) not as much snow as they predicted but so much wind!

  • @Miz_Liz Whole Foods also has a 365 brand All Dressed chip. I love them! DH hates them. He says they taste like ketchup, which he doesn't like lol.
  • @doxiemoxie212 I will have to grab a bag on my next trip!!
  • @ramblebee I think I just peed a little. Haven't laughed quite that hard in a long time.
  • Am I missing a current week ticker change thread? Or is there not one this week?
  • @BurlapandLace I don't think a new one was started since the old one wasn't that long
  • y'all, in store pick up is everything! It's snowing here otherwise I would usually just run out on my lunch break and run errands. +1 for the store being on MH way home from work so I place the order and then he picks it up!

  • UGHGHHG DH is so sensitive, it drives me nuts sometimes. DH went to the same school K-12, so he's had this very solid, large group of best guy friends since I can remember. They stayed BFFs for a lot longer than I think most HS friend groups do, but it always seemed inevitable to me that they would drift apart - that's just what generally happens as you grow up, and move away, and start new lives. In the last year or so this has started to happen with much more vigor, and DH has been mostly cool about it. But today he told one of the guys (actually his best man at our wedding) that the baby is a girl, and that we're planning to name her Evelyn. The guy responded with, "You're not actually thinking of naming her that are you?" And DH is sooooooo angry about this response. SO angry. Like saying he's never speaking to this guy again. Sure, yes, that was not a great response, but DH also didn't share the context and the meaning behind the name for us (that it feels like fate because both of our maternal grandmothers were named Evelyn, which we didn't know until recently because DH never knew his grandmother, etc.), and I just think a lot of people think baby names are really malleable before the baby arrives. But DH won't hear of it. He never wants to see this guy again, and how dare I suggest that perhaps this isn't the world's worst offense in the history of the world. Blargh.
  • @doxiemoxie212 Is it the "sympathy" pregnancy hormones?? But seriously, that is an uncool response. Not sure if it is friendship ending, but not really what you should say to someone when they announce the name.

FWIW, I think Evelyn is a gorgeous name and not one you hear very often. Your story behind it makes it absolutely heart warming.

  • @LaceyBee522 ugh he's always been emotional like this. But yeah, I agree, like it was a messed up thing for his friend to say, but I also think DH has a responsibility to share his feelings and help this guy grow from it. Whatever. lol. (And thank you, I like it too :))

The June mention is on page 3.
Apparently we use a lot of cussing and name-calling. :grimace:
I don't think May actually stalks us that well.
    Uhh

I don't feel like we've had much swearing or name calling....? so that's weird... I mean, TBH, I could do with more swearing, but TB gods would swoop in. Not worth it.

Also, really weird that someone on May wanted to white knight for Matt Lauer because they think it's fine to play "F, marry, kill." Like, sure, if you want to play that game at home, be my guest, but he did it at work so that he could talk about which of his young producers he wanted to F so.... that seems.... inappropriate? (Not to mention all the other weird AF stuff he was doing at work...)
  • @izza2 thanks! I don't get where we got this bad wrap from? There were maybe two threads that had drama early on but since then this place has been crickets. We have had some difference of opinions at times but it's never gotten heated. I think May has had more drama in the last couple weeks than we have. They need to work on their stalking.
