My boss, director, other managers, and all the sales reps are at a sales meeting in Vegas so I have no motivation to get anything done. Par for the course!
I made two cookie dough's last night and I am going to bake them today! Ginger bread and chocolate crinkle cookies.
We should do a virtual cookie exchange.

I feel like I am the only person on the board opting out of any genetic testing/scans.I'm just not sure what I would do with the information if something came back positive. Of course we will have an anatomy scan at 20ish weeks so we will know about heart, brain, etc. We are also team green again, so it's not a big deal to me to find out early.
Side note: I am so happy for everyone that has received good news with their results!
@krashke one of my friends was just telling me she saw an article about gingerbread people and they took a ball of tinfoil and wrapped the cookies arms around it when they cooked them then took it out and put one of those red and white pinwheel mints in their arms. Sounds super cute!
@becca_123 I wasn't on hold for any of that time. I was on the phone with a human being for ultimately 35 minutes with her actively trying to make me an appointment. It was insanity. My last name has repeating consonants, so imagine my last name is Bieber, and this woman kept being like, "What's your last name again?ieber?" Wut? No. Then she registered me for the birth center, which I'm on the waitlist for and not approved to tour, so she had to un-register me, and then re-register me for the right tour. Madness.
I'm here for the Christmas cookie recipe swap, and if we could do it prior to Dec 9, that'd be great. lol (I have a Christmas cookie and latke party this weekend I need to bring goodies to)
@courtyowl427 We did testing because I'm one of those people that needs to know things but honestly it has been making me so anxious that I wish I didn't need to know!
@doxiemoxie212 *raises eyebrows* You have the worst luck with with nearly everyone you encounter in the medical field.
@courtyowl427 We opt out of genetic testing too. The only reason I had an NT scan was to see this baby since my office doesn’t do dating ultrasounds. Waiting until 20 weeks was too long!
If anyone has a good egg-free cookie recipe I’d be super interested!
This may have been noted elsewhere, but August 2018 is open!
First Son - born 2013
Second Son - born 2014 - Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) and Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV). First open heart surgery at 5 days old. He's had 3 open heart surgeries and several other procedures and is currently doing amazing. Third Son - due June 9, 2018
@dinodna3 - I've substituted unsweetened applesauce for eggs in muffins, cupcakes, etc. so that my kids can safely lick the spoon when I'm cooking. You can google what the conversion would be. Without looking, I'm thinking it's 1/2 cup or 2/3 cup applesauce per egg.

@courtyowl427 - We're doing the early genetic testing this time (third kid) after turning it down in the past because: 1) I'm now old and insurance covers it and 2) our second child has a congenital heart defect, which can sometimes also be detected during an NT scan.
The results won't change what we do as far as having the child, but knowledge is powerful in preparing for a child that will have medical issues/needs immediately upon birth. With our second child, the CHD was discovered during the anatomy scan and at that point we did the Panorama test.

This. Although I did have a u/s at 9w4d, I do not want to wait until 1/26 for another glimpse of the wee one. NT scan will be Friday, as nosy me wants pictures that more closely resemble a human baby.
@mytinc I was offered the testing this time, at 33, and learned that my insurance changed the rules since I had DH. If we had a child with a genetic history, I would probably do it to. With DS I had a perfectly uncomplicated pregnancy and a healthy baby. TW- I lost my second pregnancy and it hit me like a ton of bricks-end TW. Like shit, bad things do actually happen. My anxiety has been pretty high this pregnancy and for me the tests would just had another layer of "possible unfavorable outcomes". I totally understand that knowing any issues ahead of time can be very powerful, but I'm not in that head space right now.
@mytinc that’s exactly how I feel about it. If the testing ever showed anything that required immediate medical intervention at birth I would want to be sure we had the right type of specialists there. I too am also “old” so it’s covered as well.
We're due for wind gusts of 80mph thru Thursday so I'm trying to batten down our hatches. Glad we haven't decorated for Christmas yet! I've also been downing hot chocolate by the gallon, I'm so glad it's cold enough for it now. The downside to the cold weather, is I can't find my maternity sweater and our only store on post doesn't sell one. I'll have to journey into town for one.
PSA: if anyone needs to send flowers to anyone or just wants a pretty holiday bouquet themselves, The Bouqs is doing 24% cash back on ebates, plus there are a ton of 15% off + free shipping codes so it's a great deal. Tagging @TravelingCouple@Miz_Liz since I know y'all use ebates.
Do you guys think it's too early to send out Christmas cards? For once, I'm on the ball early and have the cards addressed and ready (although I do need to go buy christmas stamps...ugh, who wants to go to the post office in December?). Send them now so they can be displayed longer or wait until closer to Christmas? I know...it doesn't really matter (no one is throwing out cards that arrive "too early" just curious what you guys think.
Also, I'm always in for a cookie recipe swap. This was the first pregnancy purchase I made (an impulse buy from zulily)
@courtyowl427 We opted out of genetic testing too. We aren't high risk, and the information would do nothing for me but cause stress. My doctor assured me that (almost) any serious issues that would need immediate medical care upon birth will be discovered through the 20 week scan, at which point we would do more testing.
@doxiemoxie212 I love latkes! I'm on the hunt for a vegan recipe.
@dinodna3 I haven't made vegan cookies, but I've eaten them and like @austenista said the flax/water substitute works really well.
I finally announced on social media yesterday that I was pregnant. It was super fun. I spent a long time trying to think of how to do it, but eventually just said "I've spent the last hour trying to think of a fun way to announce my pregnancy. Couldn't think of anything." I feel so clever lol

@katelynrae86 it's the perfect time to start sending Christmas cards- and no one wants to go to the post office ever- but especially a Saturday in December (which is worse the post office or DMV?). And Yay for for National Cookie Day!
I started to put together our Christmas card this weekend, but I need to get a few good Christmas pictures of DD and maybe even 1 of me and DH. Ladies remind me next year to set up a professional photography session for the LOs/Family.
katelynrae86 - my goal is always to send them out a day or two before t-giving so they can be received right at the start of the official season. Has that ever happened? No. They usually end up sitting, stamped, addressed ready to go but not being sent until the 2nd week of Dec. Behind the 8ball this year and they haven't even arrived to me yet to stuff/ address. Granted- I used to hand make all of my cards..since having a kid not only did I stop hand making my cards but I also cut back at least 50% of who gets cards sent to them. When I realized that for every 10 cards I sent I maybe get 1 or 2 in return...the cost/time/effort wasn't worth it. #sorrynotsorry
@stephcat421 I have found when I am on mobile and it's doing that it means that its not recognizing that I'm logged in. I have to click new discussion and then it will prompt me to log in again and it's fixed

@katelynrae86 ours will be going out tomorrow or wed. Just finished dressing them today. So as long as I get motivated to seal and stamp them tonight, they're out! I try to do them around this time every year.
@kmurdock925 I've cut back over the years. All family (immediate, grandparents, aunts/uncles) get them no matter what. Then for friends, only if they send to us the year before (with an exception of maybe 2). After Christmas, i take my current card list and mark it if they sent to us. Then when I put decorations away, I put my list in the box. This way if someone stopped sending, we can stop sending the next year lol.
