  • Holy eff..... OP really went for Bump bingo in her post!

  • I don't know why, but Matt Lauer didn't really shock me. I've always found him a little creepy and a bit of a bully. The whole Ann Curry thing has always bothered me. I remember reading into a lot of the rumors at the time, because it all seemed so shady.
My thoughts exactly.  Ever since that whole thing I have found him sleazy and did not like him.
  • On my way to ttgp...

  • For all you runners out there- just curious if/when you started running with a support belt? I'm not there yet but just curious about peoples thoughts on them.
  • @sandbar517 thanks for calling to my attention. checking now!

I haven't been telling my co-workers about the baby because I think it's a super awkward conversation. The 2 I've told keep teasing me for being so weird. DH also thinks I'm a nut. I'm totally showing...I could easily pass for being 6 months...so I keep trying to find baggy clothes and I'm making myself crazy.

Do you just blurt it out at the coffee machine? I'm in an office of 150 people, most comp sci geeks.
  • @rachelg777, my thought was also "I'm going to wear one eventually and want my money's worth" so I put it on right away.
  • @rachelg777 I used one with DS, probably starting around 25 weeks?  I felt like it helped a lot.  I have been meaning to find mine.
  • @nanifrog I haven't I told my co-workers either and I'm dreading it because I don't know how to bring up the topic. Some of them I don't know that well but I work very closely with them so I feel the need to tell them. I honestly think it's going to be so awkward and there's no natural way to really bring it up that I can think of
  • @nanifrog @babys_2018 I just one day got up the nerve and told my boss when we were walking down the hall together, then I told my female co-workers spearately, and the next week I told my male coworkers. Telling my male coworkers was the most awkward because I don't feel like they really care, but didnt want them to hear it from someone else.

Do you have casual Friday? Wear a shirt that says "not a beer belly, but a baby belly". Word will spread.
My coworkers know and couldn't care less, but they're 2. And more like bosses than coworkers....

Only because I really love Scotland and since your not was missing the "t" I totally read that in a Scottish accent haha.  I need some sleep!
  • @nanifrog @babys_2018 I already told my boss but it's definitely an awkward thing to bring up to everyone else so I'm just gonna wait until it comes up in conversation.  We are working on things that are due around May so I'll have to mention that I won't be around for some of it.  And I'll need to train some people to cover some of the things I do while I'm out, so it'll obviously come up then.  Also I think some people are a little worried about how many times I've been to the doctor in the last month so I may tell them the next time they give me a concerned look.
  • Just caught up on the TTGP threads. I will never understand why people make an account and then wait 3 whole days to ask a bunch of internet strangers if they are pregnant.

@lincbeesmom ah! I have been wanting to talk about baby showers, but wasn’t sure if it was too early to bring up. Congrats on having the date set!

My mom told me to stfu about planning for mine yesterday. But the venue by me is booked for just about every “appropriate” date and I’m annoyed, so I was venting to her. I didn’t have a bridal shower, so I am excited about the baby shower.

edited and ETA: My mom is hosting, MIL is helping, but I'm doing basic logistics (venue selection) bc my mom lives out of state and doesn't drive.

@silverhope you are planning your own baby shower?
  • Anyone who loved Gilmore Girls should watch Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon. So freakin’ funny.
  • @kpc914 my mom is hosting it, but she lives an hour and a half away and doesn’t drive so she told me to find the venue and date.

My MIL is gonna go with me this wknd to look at places, but yea, I’m planning a lot of the logistics bc my mom can’t make it over here (her dog is also 18 and dying and she refuses to leave the dog for more than like 5 hrs at a time, so I can’t pick her up and have her stay overnight with me to look at restaurants).

@silverhope oh thats awesome! Yeah makes a lot more sense for you to do that kind of leg work with you being local. I hope everything works out! ETA: (Sorry about your mom and her dog. I know those doggie senior years are tough).
  • @kpc914 thanks!  :)

  • @fraufarbissina I was worried about telling people about Dr appointments for that reason. I've been pretty vague about it. My in has a ton of flexibility though.

My boss lives in Utah and my office is in NJ. I could go until May without telling her. I told her last week though cause I thought she should know first and I knew other people were noticing.

@bwow615 totally agree for telling make co-workers! They don't really care and wouldn't really notice but it's so odd not to just say it. But there's also no normal opening for it. Saying "I'm pregnant" is a weird response to "how's it going?" starting a meeting with a big announcement is also bizarre.

Today I told one of the women who never shuts up so I'll assume she'll spread the word. I just need too start feeling ok wearing maternity clothes!
  • @onesmallcoconut hahaha!
@nanifrog once I let the cat out of the bag at work I've thrown my maternity shirts into the wardrobe mix. I'm still not really showing but they are a lot more comfortable! I need to pull out the maternity pants this weekend.
  • @nanifrog I was going to suggest the exact same thing you ended up doing.  I told my supervisor, and then just told a few people that I know have big mouths.  It spread pretty quickly after that.  I'm still not 100% sure my *actual* boss knows, but his wife works with us, so I'm sure he does-he's just never said anything about it and neither have I.

With DS I was terrible for closing the pantry door on my belly and also hitting it into the corners of walls. So far with this one I just keep getting my shirt wet when leaning over recently cleaned countertops.
  • @abhphilly yes! I often have to close out and restart. It’s been so annoying...
