Hey ladies! Just an update—ultrasound from yesterday was perfect and the blood flow to the placenta for Baby B has remained unchanged. I was on the monitors multiple times yesterday because I was showing contractions on my morning NST. They checked my cervix and I was dilated 2cm and 70% effaced. They put me back on the monitors for 2 hours and then rechecked my cervix and there was no change so we are just watching that now. The hard thing for me is I have no clue what contractions are supposed to feel like. So I’ll feel some cramping when I’m having contractions on the monitor, but nothing crazy. So off the monitors, it’s hard for me to tell!
Some bad news for me—not the babies—but on Sunday I woke up with total paralysis on the right side of my face. Neurology came down for a consult and to run tests and they diagnosed me with Bell’s Palsey which 95% of the time clears up in about 3 or so weeks. After much consideration, it was decided to put me on steroids and antiviral medicine, which has been shown to speed up the healing process. The downside is with my gestational diabetes, steroids are awful on blood sugars so I’m being monitored like a hawk for my blood sugars and getting my fingers pricked about 12-14 times a day. If at any time there is a concern, I’ll go on an insulin drip.
The hardest part with the Bell’s Palsy is I can’t smile because my right side doesn’t move. The selfish part of me is devastated because I have waited so long for these babies and have been through so much that I can’t take a picture smiling with the babies when they are born. I know it’s selfish and I’m so blessed the twins are doing well. It’s just been hard. Especially since there are about 40k cases in the US per year (pregnancy makes it 3x more likely to happen) and it happened to me. Ok—enough wallowing.
The twins are doing great and I’m so lucky to be close to 37 weeks!!!

@beary67 i'm SO GLAD to hear the good news about baby b and i'm terribly sorry that the hits just keep on coming for you personally. you are one tough, amazing lady. i completely understand why this is just the last straw for you - after ALL OF THIS you won't be able to smile on delivery day? that's rough.
if the other side of your face looks fine, you should work with your photographer to get some shots from a side angle where you are snuggling your babies and they can see your beautiful smile from the left side. they should be LOVELY. to you! friday will be here before you know it!

@beary67 *hugs* You've got so much going on, mama, that it is definitely okay to have a moment of wallowing. I'd be so disappointed about not being able to have those long-awaited pictures, too. I am amazed and inspired by how strong you've been through all of this, and I am so excited for how close you are to meeting your boys. Bell's or not, that will be a magical moment and I am so, so happy for you that it is so, so soon. I hope your sugars hold out, despite the steroids, and that you all make it safely to 37 weeks.
@anewadventure and @kyrwyn thanks for your kind words. You sure know how to make me feel better
One of the MFMs who will be in the delivery room called my husband (bless her heart) to give him tips on how to take pictures in there of my one side kind of looking down at the babies, etc. My husband and I have talked about doing the same thing once we are all cleaned up--making the pictures look more serious but still happy from one side. So we will make it work.
Thanks again to all of you for so much support. You have no idea how much it's meant to me.

@beary67 I'm so glad that baby B is doing well. I think for many ladies early contractions do feel like period cramps. I am so sorry about the bells palsy. I wish you could catch a break. It is very sweet of your MFM to help devise a way for you to still get some smiling pics. I would be so heart broken too, their birth will be such a joyous moment and every parent wants to be able to preserve it. hugs and you are going to be holding those beautiful boys soon!!

@beary67 I can't believe you have one more thing added to your plate! Of course the Bell's palsy is disappointing, on top of everything else! You have been such a trooper--what lucky babies to have you as your mama. Glad to hear they are doing well and hope they stay put a little longer!

Oh my goodness @beary67! You just can't win lately! I'm so happy to hear your babies are doing well, but man you just keep getting the short end of the stick. Hang in there though, you are doing amazing despite everything that has come your way!
Oh no @beary67. I am so sorry. You have definitely been through the gamut. 3 more days until you get to meet those sweet boys. You have done an amazing job keeping them growing and healthy. I'm glad your MFM's office sounds so amazing in trying to help and I know it really stinks about not being able to physically smile but your joy and love will shine through in other ways. Xoxo thinking of you!
@beary67 yay I'm so happy Baby B is looking good!!! That's such great news! On the flip side I'm so sorry to hear about the Belles Palsey. It will all be worth it in the end and will still have all the happy amazing memories of the day though! I'm sure your DH will still get some amazing photos of all of you though!!! Hugs and love to you all!!
@beary67 Dear god girl I’m sorry about the bells palsey! My bff had that with her first baby, but it totally went away. Glad to hear baby b is doing well! Btw, I understand your feelings on pics right after babies are born - but that nurse gave some great advice. We all want the perfect, adoring new baby photo, and I believe you still have the ability to get that. Maybe make your husband practice with you over the next couple days lol.
@wabash15 thanks! Waiting for the ultrasound now and hoping we can make it to the scheduled csection tomorrow!!!

By the time you read this, it'll be birth day!!! I am so very, very happy for you.
As far as the Bell's Palsy goes, I guess fate decided it had one more thing it wanted to throw at you. I had it right after college. I did do a round of prednisone and I can't tell you how long it took to go away but it did. Don't Google. The only people who write about it are the ones who have outlier stories. For full face pictures, you can just go for the serene look. You know, do some smizing. I have a few like that and you really can't tell. And really, it's all part of the story of bringing these babies into the world. You have been tough as nails through this.
Have a beautiful birth day.

Your story is so inspirational @beary67! I wish you all the happiness in the world today as you bring your little boys into this world. All the prayers are with you! You truly are a ROCKSTAR!
@beary67 I have been thinking of you and your boys all weekend -- whenever I get a free second, at least. I hope you are all doing well. Sending love from our little family to yours!
Hello! I know I’m super late posting but everyone is doing great. The csection went well and Paxton was born weighing 7lbs8oz and Keegan was 3lbs15oz. Due to Keegan’s weight, he was taken directly to the nicu where he stayed for 6 days. I had a pretty rough recovery due to blood loss and low blood pressure (60/40) but was eventually discharged this past Tuesday with Paxton. Keegan was able to show he was able to gain weight and was discharged on Thanksgiving Day. Both have been to the pediatrician since being discharged and are showing great weight gain.
I can’t thank you all enough for your thoughts and prayers over the last 40 or so days. Your support means the world to me and the twins.
When we brought Keegan home on Thanksgiving, we re-introduced him to Paxton and it was the cutest thing ever with Paxton grabbing Keegan’s hand.

Congratulations @beary67 I'm so happy for you and your rainbow babies! What a journey. Your sweet babes are absolutely adorable. It must have been such an exciting thanksgiving for you to get your whole family home. Congrats again
