I ended up switching doctors yesterday and I am really excited about it! My doctor for my last pregnancy was kind of rude and not understanding at all and the nurses were all very unkind. I was having major anxiety about seeing her again for this pregnancy so I cancelled my appointment with her and found a whole new practice to go to. I also managed to get an earlier appointment date, so hopefully appointments will be easier to book at this place. My MIL recommended this doctor and said she was really friendly which will be a nice change. Lol
@acciocoffee I'm switching for this pregnancy too and I'm sooo glad. I tried calling my old practice for an appt when I got my positive test, and literally sat on hold for 20 minutes before hanging up and deciding I'm completely done with them. Have an appt Tuesday at an all midwife practice that actually answers their phone.
Some of you may remember I was paranoid my family would get sick for thanksgiving because my mom got a stomach bug and threw up in my bathroom. We all seem to have avoided it (knock on wood), but now my baby has a fever. He's been fighting a cold for a week now, hopefully this fever will knock it out for good, but I hate seeing him sick. On the positive side, baby snuggles are the best and I don't have to chase him around the house with my morning (all day) queasiness.
@lindsayleigh1989 you had me with that Michael Scott gif. I ❤️ The Office.
My random is that I am trying a new Greek restaurant this evening with a friend and I’m insanely excited about it. Like, way more than I should be. I’ve been thinking of tzatziki and potatoes and haloomi cheese all day. I hope this place lives up to my expectations!
@st3lla oh man, I need Greek food now!! Gimme all the warm pita dipped in delicious Greek salad dressing and falafel with tzatziki. Going to make my husband pick it up on his way home from work tonight. Man these pregnancy cravings get expensive.
@zande2016 That was a huge part of my problem as well! At the old place I would be on hold for 20+ minutes just to make an appointment. Then, because the doctors all work from 2 locations, it would be impossible to find appointment times that worked for me. My first appointment that I made was more than a month out from when I set it because that was the first one available. This new place answered after one ring and when I asked how hard it was to get appointments set they said it was usually very easy. And now my first appointment is even sooner!
My random is that my husband is sometimes the absolute best est. He has spent the day enduring America's Next Top Model reruns on the couch with me since I've been feeling so crappy... gotta love 'im.
I volunteer at an animal shelter on weekends. This shelter is amazing! However, they took in a puppy mill case (contracted with the city, so they have to take them) and have been so overwhelmed with these 78 dogs, that they haven't been able to push adopting their other animals. It's so frustrating to know that over 3000 people applied to adopt these dogs from the puppy mill case because they are pure bred. Yet there are 150 other dogs in the facility waiting for their furever homes and they get overlooked because they are mixes. It only makes my faith in humans demenish more.
@zombiehoohaa that infuriates me.. They'd rather have an inbred puppy mill puppy because it's purebred?! I'm glad they found homes, but that's just not fair. I hope some of the other 2500+ people will take a look at the other furry babies and bring one of those home instead.
@zombiehoohaa ugh that's awful. I can't stand when people are so hung up on having a particular breed when there are so many dogs in shelters that need homes. Breaks my heart.
My parents mistakingly bought a puppy mill dog when I was a kid. Poor thing had all kinds of medical issues and died very young. It's so sad that people do this type of thing.
The dogs that have been sitting in a kennel for 1+ years is saddening. These are AMAZING dogs!!! Seriously, they have pittie mixes, seniors, heinz 57's, yet they get overlooked because they're barking, jumping, or look intimidating. The seniors break my heart the most. These dogs had homes. They were loved, then given up because of being too old or having medical issues. Come on, people!??!?!? People suck. The puppy mill dogs have a shit ton of medical issues that are going to cost thousands of dollars to treat. However, people will pay all because they are a purebred. I wanted to tell every single on of the 3000 people who applied, to go adopt a better dog than these. Ugh...ill continue to wear my Dogs (because people suck) hat when walking these adoptable pups. /end rant
Additonally, in no way shape or form am I bashing the puppy mill dogs. These are innocent dogs that have been sitting in their own urine and feces in a crate for all their lives. Being bred only to make money. Im bashing the asshats who applied yet wont look at the other dogs. I am that person who will say hi to someone then get on the ground to give their dog kisses and rubs.
@zombiehoohaa I always am so sad for the dogs that live the remainder of their lives hoping for someone else to love them. I think for our next dog I’d love to have a Heinz 57 from a shelter!
It's funny, my dog is a mix and everywhere we go people ask what kind of dog he is. I always just say we don't know, he came from a shelter. But in my head I'm like, why does it matter??? He's a dog! I get it, he's interesting looking and people are curious, but I don't know why we're so focused on breed. Just interesting.
@zombiehoohaa I have two rescue mutts and they are my loves!!!!! We will never, ever buy again. Love the rescues, my friends foster so I get my puppy fixes or random grown pup fixes whenever, and we spread the word to others. I will never get a young puppy again- too much unknown, too much training. Adopt don't shop always!
just had the car trip home from hell... over tired toddler refused just flat out refused to give in to sleep meaning ahe cried and yelled the entire 3 hours. which may not sound likea lot but when I had to take unisom because country smells, and motion sickness had me near vomit the first hour I had to give in. so Im exhausted and keep nearly passing out DH acts like it is so easy to take care of a child like this while feeling like this. now im home and im crying because im hormonal, meds have me all effed up and exhausted and adrenaline from angry baby has me all sorts of jacked up. Screw today Im over it and everyone and want a freaking glass of red wine and chocolate cake
@lindsayleigh1989 yikes. I am so sorry about your awful road trip. Hopefully you can all get a good nights rest and tomorrow will be a better day.
My random is why, WHY, does my car always seem to have issues the second DH is unavailable to help? He left this morning for a work trip and will be gone 29 days. And so of course three hours after he leaves my car won’t start. Luckily it was at my parents house so my Dad was able to jump it so I could get it in to get a new battery but seriously universe?!

ATTENTION EVERYONE: Put your leftover stuffing in a waffle iron. You can thank me later.
I gagged a little reading this. I just can’t with leftovers right now. I can barely open our fridge at the moment. Pregnancy is not treating me well in terms of holiday food.

@lindsayleigh1989 that is the worst. And not being able to have a glass of wine after all that... insult to injury. Hope you get to go to bed early tonight!
the non stop vomiting has my patience on a short short leash. I may need to excuse myself from the board for the weekend because i am not sure I can continue to be relatively nice to all the random posts!
@lindsayleigh1989 I also dislike the random posts but...there are so many threads that were started about single questions that were/are heavily trafficked I think that newbies might think its totally ok. If a newbie lurked the board they would see that it is obviously somewhat the norm for people to post single threads about their own questions and get many replies.
Don't get me wrong, I want the randoms to end also, and for people to go to weekly questions/symptoms/randoms/check-ins for their posts instead of posting their own thread. This was just an observation!
I agree @SmashJam. It’s hard to tell at a glance which topical questions are going to be well received (the car thread, for example) and which are going to be politely poo-poo’d (the clothes thread).
When I was on the bump the first time, intro threads were the norm, so I could kinda see how someone coming back after a long hiatus would make that mistake too. Maybe changing the title of that thread to all caps would help ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I agree at a glance it could be confusing. I understand you can't force people to lurk and get their sh*t together but man, at least read the *read first* thread! IT LITERALLY SAYS READ FIRST.
Intro threads don't push my buttons nearly as much as the SS questions. I mean, at least they're trying to introduce themselves, not hopping into a pool of Internet strangers with a list of questions they could have just as easily googled.
