Re: Weekly Randoms | w/o 11/13

  • @doxiemoxie212 I asked my OB yesterday how long it will take to get results (I'm doing Panorama).  She said 10 business days, so I think you are still okay.  On the flip side (and not to make you nervous), I asked if I could have my blood drawn yesterday (11+5) and she said, it had to be 12 weeks (even though my paperwork says 9+).  It could be a difference in the two tests, or preferences by the OB.  I wouldn't worry though if it's taking longer.  Don't borrow stress!

  • @krashke Last time around, I was pregnant in the summer (DS was born in September).  I wanted ice cream, but I didn't want "dairy product" or anything that contained carrageen.  My H went to the store, bought me ice cream and returned.  Whatever it was that he bought me caused me to have a meltdown so he had to return the ice cream and explain why he was returning it. The pregnant wife story worked, but pregnant women can become irrational.
  • @krashke ~ Previous to being pregnant with DS I had gone to Disneyland (in November) and had a yummy turkey dinner meal that I LOVED. DH and I planned to return to DL the following September for our 1 year wedding anniversary. I became pregnant with DS prior to that trip. Since I couldn’t ride any of the rides or anything, I decided just to enjoy all the yummy food. I got SO excited remembering that turkey dinner meal and was looking forward to having it again.

Little did I know that the meal was a holiday meal and wasn’t available in September. I cried in line at the food place and ended up walking out. DH explained to the guy I was pregnant and he apparently felt so bad they somehow whipped up most of the meal I was looking for!
  • @RatParadeI'm right there with you in disbelief. I haven't been stalking HDBD threads but I'm in total shock sometimes that I'm actually pregnant. I was reading the appointments post and someone mention their 12 week appointment, I was like 12 weeks? I can't believe I'll be 11 weeks on Tuesday. I def have my moments where I'm like is this forreal?

  • OMG food disappointment. There is a restaurant around here that has a baked potato with BBQ on it. It’s so good and I craved it when I was pregnant with DD. One time we went and they were out of potatoes. I cried and the manager came over and apologized. Then I started laughing and crying st the same time because it was so silly. I still can’t live that one down.

  • there's an envelope sitting here on my desk... glaring at me... saying 'opppppeeennn meee!! I know what that baby isssss. open meeee'

:s  and DH is still a couple hours away from being home from work damnit!

I think we need a new plan though. I told 2 different people in that office that we wanted our son to read the gender to us and that he just turned 5. yet, this envelope looks and feels like all they did was fold up the lab papers and stick them in the envelope. he's never going to be able to find the gender on this piece of paper without help. • @catlady1215can you have a neighbor open it and write down the gender in an easy to read format, put it in another envelop and have DS open that?

  •  @ffw0617 our neighbors are all assholes ;)  lol. my parents live 5 mins away.. but they're on vacation of course! my sister offered to drive in (about 40 mins) and do it. Or open, screen shot without looking, text her pics. and she'll text a nice text to us for him to read.
I do need to go out later, I could stop by MIL's and have her do it for us also. then read it when I get home.

  • @catlady1215 yeah I’m having my neurologist friend open my results, tell me if the baby is fine then do the sex reveal photo thing.
  • @doxiemoxie212 that's going to be so cute. hope you can share a pic! (without stranger danger, obv)

  • @catlady1215 I hope it's not too windy the day we want to do it next week. It's the one day our friends can help us that DH won't be working! If it's too windy the smoke bombs won't work. Honestly, I feel like we need to recruit someone to just film the setup of it because I feel like it's almost certainly going to go wrong, and will thus be hilarious.
  • @doxiemoxie212 this sounds like the makings of a truly epic and memorable gender reveal that might end up on America's Funniest Videos (is that still around?) and therefore should definitely be recorded!

  • I’m jealous of y’all finding out so early. I thought about doing testing to find out too, but in my case our reason to do the test would be to find out the sex. And that just seems irresponsible. Haha. So I will just have to be highly impatient waiting for my reveal ultrasound a month from now
  • I seriously forgot how miserable I was the first trimester last time. At least this time I’m not actually puking my brains out each day, just feeling like I need to.
  • @catlady1215 YAYYYY!!! DS must be so excited. :D

  • Thanks ladies!

I had to go to target last night. And I knew they moved their maternity section.. but they also made it smaller. I wasn't impressed. I don't think our old navy carries maternity either. I'm alittle annoyed it's so hard to find unless you go to like motherhood maternity etc.  yah there's online, but I dont know what size to start at yet.
i wonder if our department stores sell much here.

@catlady1215 I am a big Old Navy fan and while they don't have maternity in store if you order online you can always return in store. I routinely order MH Tall's online and return them in store with no problem. There was one item that I ordered from the Gap once that was required to be mailed in for the return but that has only happened once and I order from them probably once a month. Also the reviews on things on their website are usually pretty extensive and help with determining size.

ETA: if you do have to make a return by mail, the bags they use to send your order can be reused to mail it back. I think you would just have to request the return online, they would provide you a shipping label and then you'd just have to drop it off.

@catlady1215 - Last time I was preg old navy had a great online maternity selection (sucked in store) but if I remember correctly they had different sections you could choose for each trimester.  That was definitely handy.  Honestly...a few good comfy mat t-shirts and cardigans were great.
  • @catlady1215 yay for boys!!
  • @catlady1215 - I've been pretty disappointed with Target's selection of maternity clothes too.  Right now I have just been buying from Motherhood.  I think my local Old Navy was phasing out the maternity section during my last pregnancy so that is likely a no-go.

  • I made my cornbread sausage stuffing for the kid's Thanksgiving lunch at school today.  I kept "sampling" some in a small bowl, just to make sure it was just right.  I'm surprised any stuffing made it to the school this morning.  Can't wait to make it again on Thursday!

  • that's good to hear about the old navy returns, thanks ladies! I remember during my DS' pregnancy that people really liked old navy maternity, but I hadn't tried it.

I also had luck with Burlington (not sure where all that store is located though). I just hate driving that direction, so wanted to avoid it. I seriously just need like 2 pairs of jeans, a couple pairs of leggings and a few decent tops to get me through a few on site work things and the holidays. otherwise, I'm in sweats/pj pants and tshirts lol.
