@Kristokekerooni no advice since I haven’t pursued a masters, but congrats! That’s an amazing thing! Don’t discount yourself, they obviously saw something they liked!
DD1: June '16 DD2: March ‘19 :::: Married since 2011 :::: USN Wife ::::
@KristoKekerooni Congrats! So I might be able to help you out since I've done an academic interview like that...
Obviously you'll need to dress professional. Have good posture, don't fidgit or spin if it's a spin chair (I've heard they use these in interviews on purpose). If there's a table in front of you, always have your hands where they can be seen. Do your hair in a way that you won't be tempted to mess with it or touch it.
As for the interview...if it's a panel, walk in and smile...directly go across to shake each person's hand while introducing yourself. Give each person a small and quick greeting, but don't go overboard. Keep it moving. Firm handshakes....don't let your hand feel like a limp noodle! After you've met everyone, walk to your chair, but wait to sit till they ask you to.
If its a question type interview where each panel member asks a question....keep eye contact with that person while they are stating their question....while answering look at them in the beginning of your answer, and then as you're finishing your answer. You can look at other panel members in between if you wish to include them and hold their attention. DO NOT RAMBLE. Answer the question, have a distinct answer, and then look to the next person for the next question.
Don't be afraid to show your character whether in answers or dress...they like uniqueness, but don't go overboard. So I wore a teal top under my normal black business jacket....it was super bright, but the rest of me was in black. When asked if I could be anyone in history, who would I be...I said the jockey of Secretariat in the Belmont Stakes in the 70's because it was such a historical moment in horse racing. I didn't hesitate either. Whatever your answers are, go with it...seem confident, and don't give boring answers when they're giving you a chance to be unique. Stand out a little. You can give typical answers when they question integrity situations, or about following rules.
Have questions prepared to ask the panel at the end...just a couple will do. Is the panel made up of university professors or experts in the field? Tailor your questions to match....so if professors, you could ask about the program, or academic side of your degree....if experts, ask about their opinions of the future of your field...where do they see it in 10 years. Things of that nature...again, be unique. My question actually caused a debate among the panel for a few minutes...Lol.
At the end of the interview, shake everyone's hand again, thank them each, and walk out like a badass
Ive done this a couple of times....so feel free to ask more specifics. My program had 200 applicants and only accepted 24. I know how you're feeling...congrats on the interview! A huge accomplishment in itself!

We have my brother's dog until Monday. He's such a sweetheart and he's having so much fun with my dog, but I'm definitely not a big dog person. I'll be happy to go back to having one medium dog and my cat.

@jsnakehole Ahh what kind of dog is he? I am a sucker for the bigger dogs. I would love a Dane at some point. But they are a lot of work and take up a lot of space lol.
@offtoneverland Oh nooo, that sucks! My hubby would be sad/livid/a mess as well. I really hope it turns up soon.
@KristoKekerooni Congrats! That's amazing! @josie12367 That's terrific advice. When I got my current job, they told me one of the things that impressed them was that I managed to stay calm and poised throughout my interview. I also shook everyone's hand upon entering the room. Those little things can leave an impression.
@josie12367 - bless you for all of that. It's like, stuff I know, but need to be told exactly what to do. haha. My interview is over skype, so there are definite positive, but also some negatives there. I need to pull a list of interview questions so I can prepare.

@offtoneverland - any word on the delivery?? Mine came yesterday. UPS *lied* to Amazon and entered the package as delivered on Tuesday because they were supposed to guarantee 2 day shipping but they couldn't get it to us on time. What the hell? I'm not going to rat them out because it's not worth my time but COME ON. At least tell the customer the truth or put a note on the door or something
Anyway, just hoping that was the case for you, too (that FedEx messed up and lied to Amazon so they wouldn't get in trouble but ultimately delivered your package later anyway).
Guess we're all just gonna have to be patient this holiday season since everyone has Amazon Prime and there are so many delivery carriers.
@KristoKekerooni Oh dang...I've never done one by Skype. I know when I watch presentations, my biggest pet peeve is when the computer is all up in the person's face. If I was you, I'd set your stage: clean, organized background, make sure the computer is at an appropriate height where you're not slouching to be in view, that your lighting will show your face and you won't become silhouette.
Also make sure your microphone is working as well...when is your interview?

@KristoKekerooni also make sure you’re in a place with good internet and no noise. The benefit of a Skype interview is you can have notes and questions written down to glance at out of view. But try and look into the camera when you talk, instead of the screen. That way it will look like you’re looking at the people and not somewhere weird.

@KristoKekerooni That's great! It sounds like you did really well. Do you know when you'll hear back about whether they accepted you? @wishiwaspreggo The Xbox wasn't found yet, but Best Buy refunded our money! DH is going to Best Buy today to buy another one in person. He's so excited! I'm surprised that they refunded our money so quickly. I wonder if they somehow proved that it wasn't actually delivered? From what I read online, I thought once it was delivered to us, it was our property so they couldn't do anything about it. So I thought for sure they wouldn't be able to help us. But hooray for a great result! I'm so glad you got your delivery after all. That is so lame that he lied and said he'd delivered it. Ugh!
@offtoneverland - I hope so! I should know in a few weeks, hopefully?

@KristoKekerooni That's great! I say that's definitely good. Completing a master's program can be stressful, so if she's impressed that you managed your stress well, then that would make you an even better candidate. FX for you!
So my right nipple started hurting around last Sunday- just kind of sore. I wasn't worrying too much about it, and my gyno said it might just be dermatitis from wearing a stick on bra. Now I feel like I have pain in my whole right boob. I've been trying to reach my breast doctor (I've seen a specialist on and off for about ten years because I have breast cysts and a fibroaendonoma), and I think the office is closed today and won't be open again until Monday. I know it's probably nothing, but since I just started my medicated cycle I want nothing to go wrong. I know they'll squeeze me on for an appointment once they get my message, but they just need to check their dang answering machines!
Me: 28 DH: 29 Married: 6/2016 TTC #1: 12/2016 Benched due to deployment- Off the bench 8/8/17!
@spottedginger I called for a third time and finally got someone on the phone! They're squeezing me in for 4:45 on Monday. I'm pretty certain it's going to be something annoying (I'll laugh if it's my millionth breast cyst) but minor. And even though I always end up sitting in the waiting room forever, it'll be worth it for peace of mind.

Ugh!
