This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this like an ongoing conversation.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) IVF#2
How are things going? Had a monitoring appointment today after 4 days of stims. Not sure if I'm happy or worried. It's such a start contrast to last cycle, but the same protocol. Info in spoiler.
So on the plus side I don't have a lead follie that has taken off on it's own race! (so far)
On the negative side, nothing is really growing so far! There is nothing officially measureable (which for him is 8mm plus). And that's after 4 nights of stims. Last time after 5 nights I already had one at 15mm... So there is a fear that I maybe won't respond at all...
But there are minimum 3 small sleepy follies on each ovary. So I guess that equates back to an AFC of 6. Which is the best I've ever seen in all the cycles I've had an US at the start!
Therefore on balance I'm trying to see it positively - AFC of 6, all lined up together, bit slow to react to the starting pistol, but hoping they're just pacing themselves for the marathon ahead.
Next monitoring on Friday. Until then same stims and ganirelix every evening! I guess I need a prescription for patience too ;-)
Any questions? Nope. But good luck to all taking meds at the moment, as last time I had hardly any side effects and this time I do, so every cycle really can be different.
GTKY: Long Island Iced Tea. Fruity and sweet in places, a tougher punch in others! Has a stronger influence on you than you think ;-)

Diagnosis (If you've been): Unexplained
Cycle/CD: 18/11
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WFIVF
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Literally nothing. H is gone on a business trip so nada
How are things going? IM SO EXCITED! On Thursday evening we leave for Morocco! and when we come back I start estrogen priming. Best 2 weeks everrrr.
Any questions?
GTKY: If we asked your SO, "if your SO were an alcoholic drink, which one would she be and why?" what would they say?
So I texted my H and asked. I am a 'glass of red wine- a bit sweet, has a bit of a bite but gets better with age'. Thanks hun.
@emmasemm Fx for you this cycle! I'm really hoping those follies will pick up the pace!
@kiwi2628 I like YHs response to the GTKY. That's so sweet.

Diagnosis (If you've been): unexplained
Cycle/CD: 9/5
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) letrozole + ovidrel trigger + IUI
How are things going? Things are ok. Yesterday I was exhausted from the letrozole, but I'm hoping today will be better. MH has to tell his boss today about our IUI so that he can get off work for it. It'll be challenging, as he's a teacher, so someone has to cover whatever classes he misses. We're really hoping his work will be understanding.
Any questions? How does the IUI itself actually feel? Does the insertion of the catheter feel similar to the catheter they use for an HSG? Did you go back to work after the IUI, or is it better to take a few hours off to relax?
GTKY: If we asked your SO, "if your SO were an alcoholic drink, which one would she be and why?" what would they say? I have no idea! I'll have to ask MH and get back to you all.
@emmasemm It's really early. You will likely see significantly more progress in your next appt. Keep at it!
@kiwi2628 that's so exciting - your trip sounds amazing and then coming home to start treatment is awesome.
@darkstar42 IUI for me was super easy, I barely felt it. My HSG was easy too but I felt a little cramping. I literally felt nothing for my IUI. I was able to do acupuncture immediately before and after the IUI which forced me to lie still for a while but I went back to work after that.
Diagnosis (If you've been): DOR
Cycle/CD: I don't track this anymore
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): prepping for DE IVF
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Donor starts stims next week!
How are things going? Okay, I'm dealing with some anxiety while anticipating the next steps. I'm just having some trouble sleeping. Also, I am getting my period any day now for the the first time in months so my PMS symptoms are pretty intense. Look out!
Any questions?
GTKY: If we asked your SO, "if your SO were an alcoholic drink, which one would she be and why?" what would they say? I'm going to go with rosé. Sweet and light, not all that sophisticated.
2017 - egg retrieval #1 - 3 eggs, 0 embryos appropriate for transfer; ER #2 2 eggs, 0 embryos on day 3; ER #3 1 egg 0 embryos

Diagnosis (If you've been): waiting to be diagnosed
Cycle/CD: CD 4,789 ( at least it feels that way) more like CD38
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): idk TWW
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Still waiting for my CD3 testing but AF needs to show up for that.
How are things going? Ok I guess just super annoying how unreliable my body is right now
Any questions? Not really.
GTKY: If we asked your SO, "if your SO were an alcoholic drink, which one would she be and why?" what would they say?
This question is hilarious.. hmmmmm I guess he would say I’m The Bees Knees, Bc he actually says it to me often
@darkstar42 IUI felt like basically nothing. I feel a small scrape along my cervix as they insert the catheter, feels kind of like a Pap, but honestly, more comfortable than a Pap. After my Dr. has me lie there for 5 minutes and then I always went back to work.
@laurad75 snorting at the 'not sophisticated'
@darkstar42, I have not had an IUI so I have no real advice, but it's my understanding that it's no biggie and you're in and out.
Diagnosis (If you've been): primarily OAT
Cycle/CD: idk... I think we're on month 33/CD21
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): starting stims Wednesday.
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) IVF
How are things going? Not bad. I'm a little anxious, but I suppose that's normal. I'll be thrilled when this work project is over and I can focus.
Any questions? No.
GTKY: If we asked your SO, "if your SO were an alcoholic drink, which one would she be and why?" what would they say?
Lol, Idk. I'll have to ask H, but he'll probably just say red wine because: "you are what you eat [drink]"
@kiwi2628 yay! So excited for you! I remember when you were first talking about Morocco and now it’s almost here, woohoo!!!
@darkstar42 IUI isn’t bad (besides the issues I’ve had with catheters that you are all aware of). I usually have some cramping throughout the day but that’s it. GL!!
@laurad75 how often will you get updates regarding your DEs follicles during stimming and before retrieval?

Have consultation for IVF and follow up with my RE today. A little nervous. Also a little piffed cause my nurse told me Friday not to have sex until I meet with the doctor today which like why? She couldn’t just ask him Friday. Plus im almost in my fertile window
How are things going?
Things are okay I’m nervous for today but looking forward to getting more information. Looking forward to getting the all clear from RE to start trying as I’m heading into fertile window and I hate not using every opportunity we have especially now that we are so close to IVF
Any questions?
So I was on BCPs for 2 weeks before my hysteroscopy,I stopped them on Thursday 10/26. Got what I think was a light period on Sunday 10/29, would that be considered cd 1? My nurse said something about it being different since I was on BC so I should have a fertile window later but I think that was just because she didn’t want us to have sex this weekend before meeting with the doc. Haven’t been on BC in years so this is all new again to me.
GTKY: If we asked your SO, "if your SO were an alcoholic drink, which one would she be and why?" what would they say?
Miami vice- fun but throws down when needed
Diagnosis (If you've been): MFI, 0 count
Cycle/CD: cycle 17ish
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): Waiting for FET
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Acupuncture, BC pills, lots of vitamins
How are things going? This week is going to be business as usual, but next week I'll start Lupron in preparation for my Dec FET! My acupuncturist said she will do a "house call" for the FET at the transfer location and she's giving me a $100 discount, so that was a nice surprise.
Any questions? Anything I should know about Lupron?
GTKY: If we asked your SO, "if your SO were an alcoholic drink, which one would she be and why?" what would they say? Probably something sweet, like a hard apple cider. I look innocent--like regular apple cider--but I have a sweet kick to me. Ha ha.

@kiwi2628 Yay, your trip is finally here! I hope you have an amazing time in Morocco. Normally I'm not a shopper, but in that area of the world, I buy sooo many textiles and spices. Enjoy every minute!
@darkstar42 I hope all goes well when your H tells them about the time off. I know some schools get weird about arranging subs, but hopefully they are flexible for you.
@laurad75 I can't wait for your stims to start, either! Good luck with AF, since it sounds like she's ready to make an appearance.
@ndz2018 I hope AF shows for you soon. It's really frustrating when our bodies are normally so reliable and then when we need them to do something, it's like they forget what they are doing.
@zwink1 Woo hoo! I hope all goes well with the start of your stims on Wednesday. It's exciting that so many of our board members are starting stims right around the same time, so you'll be in good company. (Are you planning to do fresh or frozen transfer?)
@beachbunnyxo123 Darn for that no sex order! I know BC really messes everything up with my cycles, but generally when I start AF after stopping BC, it's pretty obvious. (But I know everyone is different in this respect.) Good luck with the consult today. I'd be happy to give you any info about acupuncture! (My acupuncturist used to be an OBGYN, so she's all about the fertility stuff.) She's having me come in once a week right up until the FET. She'll do acupuncture before/after the FET procedure and then she's going to have me follow up for some appointments a few days after the FET.

@beachbunnyxo123 so weird, I wonder why no sex?
@AlohaKumu, we're doing a frozen transfer. My RE prefers them, and in our case she was adamant about doing a frozen transfer to help combat a couple of our smaller issues. So we're looking at a Jan/Feb transfer. I am looking forward to going through this experience with such a great group of ladies!
That is so nice of your acupuncturist! What a great surprise!
@kiwi2628 have so much fun!!! Eat and drink your heart out!
@darkstar42 I hope your husband taking off isn't an issue!
As for the IUI, for me it's honestly less uncomfortable than a pap smear! I have one woman at my dr office who is a friggin rock star when she does them! I'm still half asleep and drawing a blank on the name...but those big metal things they use to kind of open you up prior to doing a pap is the same thing they use for an IUI. That has been the most uncomfortable part for me and it's not even uncomfortable.
I lay there for 10 minutes after. For 2 of them I took the day off just to have off. 1 I worked from home after and the most recent I just went right to work (it was done earlier in the day than the others so I could go to work)
@laurad75 I'd probably be losing sleep as well! You're so close!!
@ndz2018 I hope AF shows for you soon! Jeez!
@zwink1 Good luck starting Wed!!!
@beachbunnyxo123 I hope your appt goes well today!
@AlohaKumu Wow that's awesome about the acupuncture! You're getting so close!!

Want to keep going through that to give us the best chance possible.

@emmasemm hope the cycle continues to progress, good luck
@kiwi2628 I've said it before, I hope the trip re-energizes you and you come back refreshed
@darkstar42 good luck with the IUI, do you have a date yet?
@laurad75 anxiety seems like a natural reaction, but when it messes with your sleep it can be so challenging. Have you ever tried writing before bed? or leaving a note pad/pen at your bedside and just jotting down the racing thoughts before trying to get to sleep. Sometimes it helps to just get the thoughts out of your head and on a piece of paper.
@ndz2018 so glad the nurse called you back. I feel you on the just wanting answers and wanting your body to just cooperate.
@zwink1 yay for starting stims!
@beachbunnyxo123 good luck with the consult and talking to the RE. I know it can be stressful to try to advocate for yourself, but you've got this! also, that nurse, wtf.
@AlohaKumu it is really great that your acupuncturist is making a "house call" and a discount!
@50Wife girl, I'm so hoping this is it for you. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on ISWTE. I haven't made that jump yet. I'm still in the precontemplation phase. (I'm thinking about getting it.)

@laurad75 Thanks for sharing your experience! I’m hoping it will be easy and painless. I had intense cramping with my HSG, but only very briefly. That’s so exciting that your donor is about to start stims!
@ndz2018 Fx you’re able to get everything sorted out on Thursday!
@kiwi2628 Good to hear! Depending on day and time, I might have to go right into work afterwards.
@zwink1 You start stims so soon! How exciting.
@beachbunnyxo123 Thanks! Fx everything goes well at the RE consult today! Let us know what they say.
@AlohaKumu That’s so sweet of your acupuncturist! I’ve seen data that suggest acupuncture boosts implantation rates for IVF, so fx it works for you! MH just texted to say that his boss was super nice and supportive and will work with him on the time off. Yay!
@50wife MH’s boss was super supportive, so things should go well on that front! We’re still hoping to schedule first thing in the morning so he doesn’t have to miss much work, but it depends on what the clinic has open, of course. A speculum is what you’re thinking of. I know you’re mentally gearing up for IVF, but fx for this IUI cycle!
@Avrilmai Not yet! It depends what my follies look like at the monitoring appointment. When will you get your test results back?
AFM, I spoke to the nurse at the REs office. They rescheduled my monitoring appointment for cd 11, so I feel a bit better about that. The earliest I’ve ever O’d is cd 12, and cd 13 is more typical. They’re also putting in a prescription for progesterone for me now, so that’s good. MH’s work is being supportive and flexible, and I shouldn’t have any issues with scheduling at my work (the beauty of being an academic). My stress level definitely just dropped a bit!
I'm glad you changed your appt to go in sooner! Good luck! I hope things are moving along nicely
@Avrilmai I'm still hoping so hard that it happens for you guys without any sort of intervention!

@darkstar42 Hope your Hs work understands!
@kiwi2628 have an amazing time in Morocco!!!
@darkstar42 DH is also a teacher so he struggles with taking the time off for IUIs also. The IUI to me just feels like getting a Pap smear. I've always just gone about my business as usual after.
@laurad75 sorry you're having trouble sleeping, but so exciting that your donor is starting stims!!
@ndz2018 sorry AF is still MIA.
@zwink1 so excited for you to start IVF!!
@beachbunnyxo123 good luck at your consult today!
@AlohaKumu so exciting! And that's great about the discount!

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Letrozole + IUI
How are things going? Well, after having a good cry and chat with DH last week, we decided that if this cycle doesn't work we're going to move forward with IVF. I left a message for the RE and mentioned it to the nurse at her office this morning and she said she would speak to the RE for me. I looked over the IVF paperwork they had already given me and it looks like the first month will be more bloodwork, that hysterothingy, and a mock transfer. Then I should start stims in January with a FET most likely in February. It's a lot to take in and I'm still trying to wrap my mind around it all. Still can't believe we're at this point.
Any questions? not yet.
GTKY: If we asked your SO, "if your SO were an alcoholic drink, which one would she be and why?" what would they say? Gah I am so not a drinker so I don't know many alcoholic drinks, but it would be one that takes sweet but has a surprise kick to it.

@beachbunnyxo123 We have our appt to discuss IVF and our options this Fri too. I'm kind of dreading it. I hope your appt goes well!
@darkstar42 , It feels similar to the catheter they used, but the pressure when they fill you up isn't nearly as intense. It's NBD, really. Good luck!!!
@zwink1 - Holding my breath for you this IVF cycle!!!
@beachbunnyxo123 , That's so weird they said don't have sex...? like what could they possibly need you to abstain for? Report back, please.
@AlohaKumu - Your acupuncturist rocks! I asked my guy t do the same, but he said no... then again, my RE is half a country away.
@50Wife - Take it from me, read ISWTE in small doses. I panicked when I read it and it's been difficult to even pick it back up again.
@shortstack930 -
.....
Still can't believe we're at this point.

@50Wife Hoping that IUI takes!! I'll be thinking of you!
Diagnosis (If you've been): Azoo? ) ) sperm X 2 SA's
Cycle/CD: 6/16
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): Prob O'd yesterday. I quit tracking.
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) DH's phone appt with urology was rescheduled to this Friday and we also have our 1st face to face appt with our RE on Friday to discuss our options. I really wish they had done more than just labs and an HSG before discussing our options. I think we will be given a bunch of what if scenarios since they don't know anything other than DH had zero count for both SA's and normal labs. I want to know why really bad and it feels like it's taking forever! Is there a blockage? Is is correctable? Is this potentially because of the surgery he had when he was two?
How are things going? It feels like time is crawling. Basically the urologist is the only one who can tell us anything from here and DH only has a phone appt with them. What the heck can they do over the phone besides go over labs? I'm a nurse. I already went over his labs and we know exactly what they mean The ones they ran were so basic anyway! SA, testerone, FSH and LH. All normal. That's all they did. They did every blood test under the sun for me. All normal. Just ready for the next step. From the way the RE office talks to me on the phone I feel like they are going to skip trying to figure anything out and tell me IVF ICIS or IUI with a donor are our only options. I want someone to actually figure out what is going on with DH!
*TRIGGER still waiting for DNA results for DH's 9 year old son. He ordered a DNA test off amazon when we got the results revealing he had zero sperm. He has one testicle from a surgery he had when he was 2 leaving him wondering if he could ever make babies. He mailed in the samples last Saturday. They said it takes 7-10 business days for them to get it and a few days to process it. They still haven't received the samples and it's very annoying. It does NOT take 10 business days to mail somthing from CA to NY grrrrrr! *END TRIGGER.
Any questions? Any one have any experience with infertility and Kaiser Permanente? Does my experience so far sound normal? What can I expect going forward? Any tips for dealing with them? Since we will have to pay for IVF anyway (insurance doesn't cover it) should I look in to doing it else if that's their recommendation?
GTKY: If we asked your SO, "if your SO were an alcoholic drink, which one would she be and why?" what would they say?
A Margarita... hence the screen name lol. If he answers my text I'll update with why.
Have an absolutely amazing time! If you go to Agadir look for the crazy huge fish in the marina. And in Marrakech there's a restaurant on a rooftop overlooking the city which is great at sunset.
Seeing as we all get older, it's probably good that your DH thinks you get better with age!
@darkstar42 congrats on the successful self advocation! Earlier monitoring and progesterone! It's also good that your DHs work is being supportive. Now to breathe and relax for a few days
@laurad75 hugs, I can only imagine how stressful it is having the nerves for your transfer prep and the donors stims - that's double pressure
@zwink1 two more nights and then you're in the stim club!!!
@beachbunnyxo123 good luck at the appointment!
@50wife keeping everything crossed for next Monday!
@avrilmai Was it only your tests or are you waiting on an SA too?
@shortstack930 hugs but it's good you have a plan. Fx you don't need it. Those are the best plans - the ones that you prepared but don't ever have to use.
@kristokekerooni writing the cycle number is always a b**ch...
@margorita30 fx you get the results back soon
AFM well we're having an evening watching Dirty Dancing and dancing to it, because why shouldn't that encourage my follies to grow ;-)
And I'm loving the answers to the GTKY... so many snarky and snarky answers :-) Seems there's a lot of us with a hidden kick to us hehehehe

@margorita30 My IUI will be next week, but not sure when yet. It depends how my monitoring on Sunday goes. I’ll update you all when I have it scheduled! I totally hear your frustration with the doctors not doing more tests to figure out what’s wrong. I think part of the problem is that there just aren’t that many treatment options, so, in some cases at least, they feel like doing more tests doesn’t matter if you’re going to end up at the same treatment options anyway. It frustrates me to no end.
@KristoKekerooni Thank you! I like your GTKY answer.
@emmasemm It’s that relaxing part that’s hard! I have acupuncture Wednesday evening, so that will be good. When I went in last week we still hadn’t decided whether or not to do a medicated cycle, so she doesn’t even know this is what we’re doing yet. Not sure if it will change her protocol at all though.
@kiwi2628 I'm so so jealous of your trip!!
@darkstar42 So glad your H's work is being flexible!
@laurad75 I'm so excited for you!
@ndz2018 come on AF!!
@zwink1 FX for you!
@beachbunnyxo123 I hope you got the all clear!
@AlohaKumu reafing about your accupuncturist made me realize I need to see if H's insurance will cover it now
@50Wife hoping that this is it for you!
@Avrilmai I'm surprised it's taking this long for you to get results.
@shortstack930 I'm hoping it doesn't come to it, but glad you guys have plan moving forward.
@KristoKekerooni hopefully the 22 comes quickly.
@margorita30 that's so frustrating! Hopefully you get answers soon!!
Diagnosis (If you've been): AMA, ovulation dysfunction
Cycle/CD: month 15, cycle 11, cd 16
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Letrozole + Ovidrel + TI
How are things going? Well, I have no idea what dpo I'm on. FF is giving me CH last Wednesday, but I triggered that night so I doubt it plus I had races all weekend so temping was off. I manually moved them to Friday, so it's 36 hours after trigger but not sure that's right. H and I talked and decided that I'd go on his insurance. I feel more relieved now. BUT we also decided that if I'm not KU this time, we're going to hold off on more treatments until after the new year when I'm covered. I think I decided that I'm going to "relax"--no temping, opks, giving up my alcohol & caffeine ban. It's the holidays after all. *TW** oh and I got my results back today. The spot was skin cancer so I'm having it removed on Wednesday. I'm so ready for this year to be over**end TW**
Any questions?
GTKY: If we asked your SO, "if your SO were an alcoholic drink, which one would she be and why?" what would they say? I'll have to ask him
Diagnosis (If you've been): MFI
Cycle/CD: 20 something/3dpo/iui
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) IUI with donor was Saturday
How are things going? This is the first TWW since November of last year!!!!! I am back to being a nut job and looking at what is happening with the science happening in my body on a daily basis because of course I'm finally KTFU.
Any questions?
GTKY: If we asked your SO, "if your SO were an alcoholic drink, which one would she be and why?" what would they say? he just said "Wine, that's not a hard one is it?"
@emmasemm I know @adirat didn't respond within the first four days and she still had a great cycle.
@kiwi2628 I can't wait for your trip to Morocco! It wasn't like anything else I've seen before!
@darkstar42 my IUI felt like nothing at all. Not even like a pap. Like only the speculum. They had me lay for 10 minutes. I went to class afterwards and was doing jumping jacks and running in place. I was a little worried some would slip out, so I wore a pantyliner, and it was dry all day.
@zwink1 I am so happy you're finally getting to actively do something towards getting pregnant! It's an awesome thing, isn't it!

@emmasemm Exactly as @juneroseruby said I did not respond AT ALL for the first few days, but eventually a bunch of follicles picked up all at the same time. Fingers crossed the same happens for you.
@juneroseruby It makes me so happy to see you're in a real TWW again friend
@purplg8r How scary about the skin cancer! I'm glad they caught it early and I hope you have a super easy go of it.
@adirat !!!! You're totes PASP!! My heart, so so happy for you!
And oh my, 10 days until transfer for you?!?! Girl sometimes I cannot believe you and I are finally here.
