I'm with @gildah and @suchaglencoco. Sliding doors are a game changer. I can't tell you how many times I almost dented someone's door trying to get a car seat out in a tight parking spot. Or had that "Oh, shit!" moment when a kid (not my own) was riding in my car and would just throw the door open without looking first.

I got a Ford Edge recently and I love it. It only has 2 rows, so it would be tight for more than 2 kids, but that's all we're having so it'll be a good long term car for me.
@Poppy0419, seriously, do it. There were several SUVs we went to see and the first thing we did was have them open up the back so we could try to fit in our stroller. They were all immediately out of the running. And honestly, a few of the salesmen said they'd never had anyone bring a stroller to test like that, which blew my mind!
And it helped us weed out salesmen we didn't' trust. One tried to tell me I wouldn't always need a stroller so that test was "ridiculous". Another tried to tell me I'd never need the full 3rd row seat up so I shouldn't be upset it could fit behind it. Like, nope. If we're investing $20,000+ in a vehicle, it will be something I want and will be used the way I want it to be used.
@fraufarbissina My husband and I have a Nissan Rogue and we love it! Such a smooth ride, huge trunk with compartments under the mat to store things and a roomy backseat. I have a Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and it is small, more of a crossover, but I don't expect us to use that often as a family. I mostly just drive to and from work in it, which is over an hour one way, so my husband drives everywhere!
I wanted an odessey but we needed something that could tow. And we didn't want to shell out for a burban so now I'm driving around a full size chevy 12passenger van. hahaha.
@lincbeesmom@mmb4532 thanks! I think it's probably perfect for us. Honestly, I kinda want a minivan but am happy with something like the Rogue too if it works for our family of 4.
@suchaglencoco i brought car seats and my stroller the last time around and they didn’t bat an eye. If they want my $30k, they’ll let me load the damn car with everything. If I can’t comfortably travel and have plenty of room for kids, it’s out.
@tincupchalice that's what I need ahahaha. I could guarantee I’ll never run out of space.
We got a jeep renegade pretty much specifically because we, in theory, can fit 2 boosters and a car seat. I have to say though, I really really love it!

Anyone have any great tips for lower back pain? I never have experienced lower back pain before and wow is it uncomfortable! Almost to the point of tears! I know it's normal, so I'm not worried. Just trying to figure out how best to relieve and relax these muscles!

@babys_2018 will you have one or more children? My DD is two and we have been driving her in cars. We both drive sports cars too, so while we can’t fit anyone in the front passenger seat when she’s in the car, we’ve made it work bc we love love love our cars.
We are going to trade in my husbands car and he’ll take over mine (it’s cooler) and DD will just have to ride front facing when he takes the two kiddos places (and it will have to be only the 3 of them). I’m going to get an SUV even though I’ve only driven a manual transmission for the last 17yrs. We are looking at a Lexus and they have big sales events around the holidays. I love love the suggestion to bring car seats and strollers! I never even thought of that.

Cat/cow, and lay flat on your back, raise your legs (keep them together), bend at the knees 90 degrees and drop them to one side. Hold then switch. There’s several other good stretches like this if you google you’ll find them.
@holli0801 I also got my flu shot at 10 weeks. I told my OB after. They should have the vaccine without preservatives everywhere- just tell them you are pregnant and they will give you that one. Apparently there was a poor study written saying flu shots in the first trimester increase the risk of miscarriage, which is what has caused the hesitation the last few years. The CDC is still recommending it. If you are interested in learning more:
We resisted the idea of getting a van, but a month ago ended up trading our 15 year old SUV for My in-laws 10 year old Town and Country and it's the most wonderful thing I can imagine. SLIDING DOORS. So much easier to get the kids in and out. SO. MUCH. EASIER. And a lot more room in the third row. Forget the aesthetics- so unbelievably awesome in every way. I'll never go back!
@holli0801 I got mine at like 8 weeks. Did it at target, checked the box that said I was pregnant, and they gave me a different shot than DH. My US was fine at 10 weeks and no concerns from OB.
Thanks everyone. I work at a hospital so I have to get it there... I didn't know there was a different one for pregnant women. I haven't asked anyone there bc I don't want anyone at work knowing I'm pregnant yet. My Midwife said it was okay, but that was also after I explained I had to for work..she also said to do it on a Friday bc I may feel like crap for a day of two... yay. I was just curious what everyone else was doing! I'm almost 11 weeks now, so I'll get it before the cut off. Thanks
We have a Rogue and it's great--my only annoyance is that our Convertible car seat pretty big so when it was rear facing the passenger seat was tight in the front but that's partially the car and partially the large car seat.
We also bought a Mazda CX-5 last year and I LOVE it. So. Much. Room. Also, you can lay down each seat in the back individually, which is great bc it means you don't have one side connected to the middle seat so if you had the baby in the middle but needed more space you could lay down the seats next to it and not have to move it over to another seat.
@Ceridwen77 this will be our first and the plan is to have 2 kids, so I don't think we need anything massive, but I like the option of a 3rd row, or extra trunk space. Hubby just got a truck, which is huge compared to my car or his old SUV, so we have that as our main car if needed
@mileswithmyles@babydreams88 It kind of depends. I measured at least 2 weeks ahead with fundal height my whole last pregnancy which caused them to do extra ultrasounds when everything was perfectly fine. I just had a big and late baby (9lbs 3oz, 42 weeks). Fundal height doesn't necessarily mean a whole lot, it's more of a rough estimate. Every body is different. Not trying to be snarky or anything, I just remember it causing me to panic. But I was also a FTM at the time and I panicked over everything.
The van wasn’t big enough so I’m going completely rogue with the car plan. I’m getting a Tundra. It’s HUGE, I don’t have to worry about racks hitting kids and I can get a bed cover. I’ll be able to see out of all windows. It works out perfect.
Yes to the flu shot now! I got mine early on last pregnancy and this one. Getting the flu while pregnant is not a risk you want to run. And flu season is upon us, so take care of yourselves and your babies.
I can't say enough good things about my Subaru Outback! I traded in my little old Scion when I was pregnant with my DD. The Outback is such a smooth ride! I test drove the Rogue and hated it. I thought it drove rough and more like a truck and I was unimpressed with the trunk space. My Outback has plenty of room, handles well, AWD, roof rack in case we ever need to haul stuff. We upgraded to Eyesight which detects if I leave my lane, detects objects or around vehicles in front of me and brakes, keeps me in the lane on the highway, and spaces be from other vehicles in the highway while in cruise control. Blindspot detection and a great backup camera in top of eyesight really make me feel safe. Plus Subaru's hold their resale value and last forever. We might get DH another vehicle in a year or 2 and go for something larger (thinking trips with luggage, 2 kids, and the dog might be tight in the outback, but we might buy a roof cargo box). It looks like Subaru will be releasing a third row vehicle next year, so we might wait and see!
