  • @frenchiekinplusone hope the repeat scan shows a cooperative baby lol!

@peppersmith22 nerds are the best!  I’m totally craving a nerds blizzard from Dairy Queen; are those still a thing?
  • My belly is already bugging me, and I'm afraid for the growth to come.
  • Ahhh!!! @riversdoctor I don't think so but I remember those! They were delicious!
  • @ngolimento this is why I <3 TB... perspective. YIKES!!!

    shocked oh no GIF
  • Completely agree @danjoly! We found out at our DS anatomy scan he had bilateral pyelectasis which turned into hydronephrosis at birth. Our kidney doctor has already told us that it is genetic and that there is a 30% chance this baby will have it too. We are also team green, so it has never been a sex scan for us.

AFM FFFC: I gave in! Last week I ordered the new fancy new iphone even with the ridiculous price tag that we probably can't afford with a new LO on the way. It'll be here today, and I don't feel guilty at all..... Mama needed a new phone!
  • @danjoly I hear ya! I actually had someone ask me why I was getting the genetic testing done if we were waiting until the baby is here to find out the sex. I surprised me. Like duh, I want to make sure everything it ok.
  • @danjoly totally agree. I get that finding out the sex is super exciting for those that choose to find out, but that isn't the point of the scan. It's conveniently available info at the same time they are taking really important measurements and making sure things like all 4 heart quadrants are present. I'm borderline jealous of people who have zero anxiety about the anatomy scan actually finding one of many things that could potentially be wrong. I think I held my breath through my entire appointment.

  • @lindsye YES!!! This happens every so often where my husband goes away for a work trip and I can watch all the TV I want without judgment and get to have the dog in our room to sleep (he's usually banished to his own room which makes me so sad).

Keeping fingers crossed you get some much deserved "you" time and a slightly guilty husband who thinks his wife is so rad!

I don't really know why but I actually get a little annoyed when I hear people get the testing done JUST so they can find out the sex. I think there is something about knowing how much women agonize waiting for the results or can't afford to get it done even though they would really like to that rubs me the wrong way when I find out people just want to know the sex.
  • @lindsye my husband NEVER likes to go out.  He is such a homebody.  Usually I'm the one going out after the kid goes to bed.  But I have pure joy when he tells me he is going to hang out with friend and I can just have piece and watch what I want on tv.   I hope your hubby goes

Also side note I can't wait to see Thor it looks so awesome!

  • I'm irrationally angry that I have an anterior placenta.  I felt movement in my second pregnancy pretty early, and so far in this one, I've felt nothing.  I know this is going to be my last pregnancy so I'm kinda sad I won't feel movement in this one like I did in the others.  Anyone else have an anterior placenta?

  • @fancybelmont I had an anterior placenta with my first pregnancy and didn't feel movement until 23 weeks, it sucked to not be able to feel any movements for so long, I feel for you! I don't know if I have an anterior placenta with this pregnancy yet, but I'm almost 15 weeks along and haven't felt anything that I could confidently call fetal movements.

  • @fancybelmont I had an anterior placenta with my first two pregnancies, and although it was a bummer early on, once kicks started to get strong they were unmistakable. I would say after about 23ish weeks they felt (what I assume to be) just like any other pregnancy. Apparently it's posterior this time, so I'll let ya know the comparison ;)

Mine today is i judge mom's who front face their kids before 2, especially those kids who are less than 22 months. I just wonder why they feel just because they are scrunched means they jeopardize their safety. Broken leg is way better than a head injury.
@rklinge0 - So much this. It kills me to see little ones forward facing when they shouldn't be. Yes, in most states its legal to turn kids around at 1, but it's sooooo dangerous. It's just not worth it.

I feel immense guilt because I just turned my son's seat to forward facing and he's 2 years 9 months old. I swore I'd never turn him due to convenience rather than his size, but I need him to get used to climbing into the seat on his own -- once baby #3 arrives he'll need to climb into the third row independently. If that wasn't an issue, the kid would rear face until elementary school ;)

@JJMNO1616 I totally get that. I recognize I'm lucky that son never complained about rear facing. If he puked his face off every time he got in the car, that'd be a completely different story.
  • My 18 month old is still rear facing. I wanted to keep that way until at least 3. But with the new baby coming I will have to ff face him at 2. I am hoping we can just get a bigger car by then.

  • @Mattel I am totally with you. I always have to hold my tongue, because I think alot of people just don't realize it's dangerous. But I always keep my mouth shut.
  • @Mattel and @bchalm I would have rathered people told me the car seat on the cart was dangerous to my face than trashing me one aisle over in Target.  I truly didn't know at the time and it was pretty hurtful that someone wouldn't have wanted to just be helpful.  I say something when I see it now.

  • 100% agree on rear facing (and totally get there are circumstances that make it hard).  We RF until 4 with no issue and complaints (mostly just people judging me).  I made the decision that I thought was best for her, and stand by it.

I full admit I wasn't aware of tethering until recently.  We've incorporated this a well since turning her.

@ekendall09 I always want to. Every time. I did one time when my daughter was also in her infant seat. I got the nastiest response about how it wasn’t my business to criticize another mother and I should only worry about my own kid. She continued to yell as I walked away.  So I don’t say anything anymore. I wish stores would put up signs or something or warnings on the cart about how it’s not safe to put the seat on top of the cart, the same way they have little warning about where children should and should not sit in the cart

    Me (33). DH (37). DD (2.2012). MCs x4. After 4 years & 7 months, due 4.2018!

  • @mattel thats a good suggestion too.  maybe stores could help with awareness

  • @ekendall09 I’m with you there!  My family was constantly asking when my kids can “sit normally” in the car.

Dd was 4.5 when we flipped her due to outgrowing the radian by height. (I could have kept her rf in the chicco a couple months longer as she was still under 40 pounds but it was too much of a fight to have her rf in one car and not in the other). Unfortunately ds looks to be hitting that 40 pound mark much sooner!  At 2.5 he’s already 34-36 pounds!  I’m hoping to keep him rf at least until next fall but we will see.
  • Sorry I have to ask, what does everyone mean by the infant seat "on" the cart? Do some people really prop the seat on top? I've put the seat fully down in the cart (and then surrounded it with the few groceries that will fit) but I don't think that's what is meant here? It's a pain but besides two carts or babywearing I don't know how else I'd do it.
  • @Puddlewonderful putting the seat in the deep, largest part of the cart is the safe way to do it. Some people prop the infant seat in the small child seat area where it will fit but can easily fall down if the cart is jostled. Definitely not a good idea!

  • @lindsye thanks for clarifying! Wow I have never seen anyone do that. That's terrifying.
