Re: November IVF

  • Happy Belated Halloween everyone... I hope to be back on the boards more regularly next week (work doesn't slow down but I should be starting AF and BCP then and will be needing this space to keep calm and focused hehe)

Hope all are well and I am off tomorrow (so will catch up on posts!)

til then, here is a pic of what DH and I did last night as a release and relax before the chaos of 'egg production' begins again :) #BSO #bostonpops

  • @steph8986 that’s awesome you may trigger a bit early! So nice to be on these meds less days! You too, @kiwi2628

  • @cmiller73 glad you’re getting ready to start! Also love Nightmare before Christmas!
  • Hi all! How's it going??? I'm just stimming away! Next monitoring apt is Saturday morning for me!
  • I am on day 5 of stimming today and am having some cramps. I'm kind of assuming that's normal, at least hoping so! I don't really notice it just sitting at my desk. When I am walking around I notice it more. I have an appointment tomorrow for monitoring.

Yeah.... as your follies grow your ovaries get bigger and obviously you get that cramping from them stretching/swelling a bit. Towards the end you almost feel them all the time, sitting, standing, walking...ugh...lol And the more follies, the more you will feel it!
  • @dragonette505 This morning I told my husband I figured it had to mean something was going on down there so I was assuming it was good. Lol. So wierd to feel excited about it though.
  • @baseballhoney Its totally exciting! This is what we are doing it for! I can feel the meds working on mine now too... not cramp level yet, but the dull ache that lets me know the meds are getting in there and doing their work! It can feel a little gross at the end when your ovaries are stuffed and heavy... But that's what you want! Lots of eggies!
  • Morning @dragonette505 and @baseballhoney. Day 5 of stimming here too. Added in Ganirelix this morning. So now up to 4 shots per day. Today is the first day I've started to feel uncomfortable. Next monitoring appointment tomorrow morning.

Here were some of my follicles from yesterday.  Couldn't get more than 2 or 3 in a pic, but there are about 16 that size.

@steph8986 That's awesome... yeah, you have a ton, so you will feel the effects of it sooner! You are halfway there!! :)

ETA... oooo... maybe fuzz out your name on the top of the US? Just for interwebs security purposes :)
  • That is awesome for you @steph8986! I am hoping I can have results like that tomorrow! I am adding the Ganirelix tonight so that will make 3 shots for me everyday.
  • @baseballhoney Yea my 4th is the Blood thinner Lovenox. Actually not bad, would take 5 of those over 1 Menopur shot any day! haha

  • @baseballhoney @steph8986 I'm on 3 shots (Follistim, Menopur and HGH) So when I start Ganerelix I'll be at 4

  • @steph8986 super jealous of your follies! Looking good!

@baseballhoney and @dragonette505 fx your USs look just as good!

I'm just waiting for DH to get home to give me my first injection - and then I've been high maintenance and demanded a monitoring appointment tomorrow as if not I have to wait until Monday, but last time I already had to take the Ganirelix on the equivalent of what will be Sunday night this time. So I said either I take it Sunday regardless, I don't and they agree to give us a cycle for free in case I O or they fit me in - and they fit me in!

  • @steph8986 the menopur did seem to make my leg hurt for longer last night. Not my favorite. @dragonette505 yesterday my husband told me to tell him when I start feeling like a pin cushion. I have a feeling it will be real soon.
  • @emmasemm You sound so much like me!! lol bossy :) But in the best way! I call it being proactively involved in my own treatment :) So glad they are seeing you tomorrow.

@baseballhoney The first day is always like YAY! I'm stimming... after that it gets more and more pin cushion-y. I always ice before getting stuck so it helps a bit, even with the menopur burn. I find that if I don't ice as long as normally, I really feel that burn
  • @dragonette505 oh yep I'm definitely on the bossy spectrum ;-)
DH rolled his eyes and smiled when I told him just now.
I mean I didn't just demand one thing, I think I was quite fair to give them a choice!!!

  • @emmasemm LOL My DH always says: I'm so glad you're on MY side (whenever he sees me being...ummmmm bossy) :)

  • @dragonette505 The icing doesn't mess up the medication absorption or anything? Cause that would be a good idea.

It shouldn't... my docs have all been fine with it. I just use it to numb the injection site a bit

Its the smart choice! When I meet girls like me I always want them on my team, so to speak... I know if there are projects we will get stuff done :)
  • @dragonette505 oh gosh yes - at work I really make sure girls like me are on my side!
The layer above me is all guys - and they are terrified of me and the other girl on my level when they have to deal with us together. The number of meetings we blagged just because we either sit next to each other or because we put the guy we need something from in between the two of us... we have never done or said anything, it's all in their imaginations, but they literally roll over and ask what we want and when...
Sometimes we fell bad, but then within a few minutes we get an example of how biased our workplace is and then say nah, on balance it all works out ;-)

  • @emmasemm yeah, we have so many cultural disadvantages that we have to use all the tools we have to our benefit
  • Ooo @steph8986 look at those follies!!!

Guys- I got my calendar today! Its all suuuuuuper dependent on when I bleed on the estrogen, but I start estrogen on the 16th, I should get AF around the 22nd, so stims will start on the 24th ish and an estimated ER on the 4th-6th!!

    ERMERGERD!
  • Fantastic news, @kiwi2628!!!!!!
  • Hello ladies!  I am moving over here from the IUI board- If all goes right I will be doing a fresh transfer in December.
this is my first ivf cycle.  I just started BCP today and should start everything the week after Thanksgiving- nurse is calling me tomorrow with more specifics!
Is it okay if I hang here as I didn’t see a December board??

  • @kiwi2628! Woohoo!!! This is one of those very rare times when you will be praying to bleed asap lol!

@bpietronicco yes for sure welcome! As you can see @kiwi2628 is on a similar schedule at the end of the month. Maybe someone will open a December thread and you can dabble in more than one anyhow. Or maybe December might be a bit quiet as many REs plan things so they have no ER or transfers over Xmas.

  • Hi ladies, I'd also love to join in here if you'll have me! I had appointment with RE yesterday and he ok'd me to start stimming (2nd time IVF) once AF arrives - which 'should' be next week - but with my cycle it's almost impossible to gauge. I'll have to wait for FET then in January (OHSS last time).

It's a bizarre feeling - I'm dreading the injections again but also really just want to get going!! It looks like many of you are already on your way this month - yay!
Best of luck to everyone xx

  • @roisis welcome! Hope AF arrives speedily for you! We’re spread out over the month so there will be plenty going on at any time.

AFM monitoring was a bust. RE sick, nurse could only find one ovary and that was after I guided her (the nurses don’t normally do any US but I asked for a sneak peak since they only called me after I was right outside the clinic...) and there’s one follie on that one - but of course don’t know if we have any on the other too.
But i can take my ganirelix on Sunday anyhow and then go back on Monday to see the RE...

  • @bpietronicco no worries! I will probably be doing something (inf cycle plus fresh transfer or frozen transfer cycle) in December.... sometimes it’s easier to just extend a monthly thread (as @emmasemm says) since it can be a bit more quiet over the holidays.
@roisis hopefully you don’t get OHSS this go round? I had 2 cycles back to back but I changed clinics and protocols and last cycle no OHSS at all!!
  • @bpietronicco my guess is there will be no Dec. IVF thread since so many RE's stop ER's and FET in December for the holidays, which is why I am hanging around here. I am also starting end of November/into December. Welcome! Its my first IVF cycle too.

@roisis welcome! I hope you get no OHSS this time
  • Welcome @bpietronicco and @roisis.  I'm also Nov/ Dec.  We anticipate our donor will do ER after Thanksgiving and my transfer will be 5 days after that.

I took my last bcp this morning so I'm also in the 'can't wait to get my period' club.  Happy Friday kids!

  • @emmasemm Noooooooooooooooooo! ugh! That sucks!! Well one ovary cant really tell you much. If they only looked at my right ovary I would only know about 4 follies (since my right ovary is a lazy jerk) :) Hopefully Monday they see the whole picture.

@laurad75 how soon does AF start after finishing bcp's? yay.. so glad you are getting close!!

  • @dragonette505 usually just a few days for me to get withdrawal bleed .  Likely by Monday I would think but I've been taking them for a few months now continuously so who knows what will happen.

  • Welcome @bpietronicco and @roisis. Yay @laurad75 for being done with BCP. I had my monitoring appointment and the tech measures one on my right and 5 on my left that were over 10mm
  • Thank for the welcome everyone :)

@emmasemm - great that you got the one follie - hopefully there's a few more hiding in there. In my clinic it's nearly always the nurses that do the US. Yesterday my RE did it himself (he wanted to check on my endometriosis) and I really wanted the nurse back!!!! They seem to be way more practiced at it!

@dragonette505 - we are assuming Over-stimulation again so RE has recommended a different trigger which means I will definitely have to go for a frozen implantation. I don't mind so much now that I know - after the OHSS last time I was in quite a bit of pain and had to take more injections (and I am not a fan of those needles!!!!) and those ones (I think it was Innohep) were particularly painful - stupid blunt needle.... So hopefully none of that this time around :)

Here's to the swift arrival of AF to all those waiting :) (and happy stimming to the rest of ye!)

  • @laurad75 Yay! Its crazy how long you've been in this process and now its happening!!!
@baseballhoney That's a great roundup of measurable ones... I'm betting there are more they are not yet counting (my doc does that... only counts the ones in the size range she cares about) :)
@roisis I took cabergoline after my bouts with OHSS but I never got severe only moderate (Mild, Moderate, Severe). But that was pretty bad. After having it twice back to back I was sure id get it this last time, but nope! My new doc kept my estrogen down. Who knows, maybe you wont. Even if you do a freeze all, who wants OHSS? What are they using for your trigger? My new doc has me do a dual trigger of HCG and Lupron (which is  said to also up your chances for pregnancy in some studies)
