  • @steph8986 that's good you arrived safely! Fx for good ER tomorrow!

@baseballhoney great news on being ready to trigger!

@mac627 welcome to the stabbing club! Think there's just you, @dragonette505 and me still stimming right now?

@hoffmanr7 @bpietronicco good luck at your appointments

AFM still stimming and going with the Ganirelix every day. Last night it took DH 4 attempts to get the Ganirelix needle into me so I really am like a pin cushion! He had to use some serious force so I assume the needle was a bit blunt. Whereas the day before it was super sharp and I have a bruise about 10cm in diameter at that injection site! He feels really bad, but it doesn't hurt. I guess he wasn't resting in a blood vessel but had passed through one. Gonna make sure I flash the doctor my bruise at monitoring on Friday. Along with the bruises from my blood draws they can't tell me my clotting is normal... my arms literally look like I'm a drug addict with the whole of the inside of both elbows a nice shade of bluey brown...

  • @emmasemm, my arms do that too. Have they tried icing the draw site immediately after they're done? The phlebotomist at the lab on Sat couldn't get my vein in my right arm (not her fault, she's very good, my vein was just uncooperative and kept rolling). She actually got blood once, but it rolled again so she gave up on that arm. Anyway, the point is, she was worried about it bruising and made me put an ice pack on it right away. No bruise. My left arm is another story...
  • @steph8986 yay for triggering! Good luck!

@dragonette505 thats a really comprehensive list!

@hoffmanr7 welcome! It looks like you are on a similar timeline to me! Good luck at your consult.

@baseballhoney I hope triggering went well!

  • @zwink1 yep I take an ice pack with me to the blood draws... I guess at the ones on Friday last week and Monday since they had to try more than one place each time, then the interval between them starting and me getting the ice on after was too long. I don't bleed excessively, and bruises don't appear immediately- but when they do they're big and purple and stay for weeks. So when I'm having several draws a week like at the moment then I'm just covered in bruises at the end...
Sounds like you also have some challenges! My veins also roll, but also sometimes they think they've got one, but then it's only a small one and they can't get enough blood. Sometimes I end up with them going into the veins in the back of my hand or by my wrist bone. Those are not so fun...

  • @laurad75 I would second the magnesium that @tosh24 suggests - DH takes it (for other reasons) but without it he doesn't sleep more than 4 hours consecutively and on it he can sleep 8 hours no problem. On the other hand if he takes it in the middle of the day he also falls asleep  - so only take it when you're safe to not be drowsy

@tosh24 sorry if the details were a bit too gory!

  • @laurad75  Nope, not at all. It's just like taking a mineral supplement like iron or calcium. I copied and pasted the description given by the company my naturopath recommended for me:

Magnesium deficiency is one of the most common mineral deficiencies in North America. It can contribute to a multitude of symptoms and long term health concerns. Magnesium is an essential mineral for the optimal functioning of the cardiovascular, nervous and musculoskeletal systems.

It also plays a role in mood stabilization and has been shown to be an effective treatment for major depression. Magnesium deficiency can also contribute to symptoms such as migraines, PMS, dysmenorrhea, muscle cramping, and insomnia. This deficiency is also commonly seen in alcoholics and patients with diabetes mellitus.

There are many different forms of magnesium, but magnesium bisglycinate  has been demonstrated to be more readily absorbed and utilized by the body versus other ion forms.

It also says that adults need about 320 mg of magnesium a day. I'm on two capsules which is 300 mg/day total. If you can find it, NFH brand is really high quality.

@emmasemm @zwink1 omg... I am not as bad as yall, but I definitely start bruising... I actually get worse bruising from acupuncture! And these last for like 2 weeks!

@steph8986 Hope all goes well!!! Have a big ol meal afterwards!! Electrolyte water and salty stuff!
@laurad75 I have been having some anxiety as well... I use an ivf meditation app and honestly I'm not meditating... dude talks me to sleep! It really helps put me in dreamland! I'm also using melatonin (but only during cycles) and like everyone says, magnesium... but I'm deficient so I have to take that... ive never noticed any impact on my sleep with it.
@tosh24 Yay! I am never so impatient to O until this point for starting priming!!

AFM Just got back from monitoring... doc measured 18 follies today and says, though, he still thinks it will be a few days before trigger... booooo.... I'm on stim day 9 so hoping by Friday I can get the word that its go time!

  • Appointment went well today! I am on an antagonist protocol.  I start stimming on December 1 and go from there!

@steph8986 good luck on your ER!

    @tosh24 I remember you too!
  • @andy805 that's great! Glad you will be joining!!!
@bpietronicco Kewl! Let us know when you know your doses and whatnot...
  • @laurad75 I've never had issues from drowsiness the next day if we take it early evening and then sleep the whole night. But I don't take any if I need to wake up really early like 5am. DH has the higher dose and has no issues still getting up really early and is not sleepy during the day normally. He like @tosh24 was officially deficient.

@tosh24 :-) and yes I talk about it with every one of my doctors but nobody has been too concerned until my RE. We are waiting for genetic screening to come back for me. But it's not only bruising that's weird - typically my body is slow to react, then it overdoes the reaction. I had an MRI as they wondered if I had a tumor on my pituitary or something like that but luckily all clear.

@dragonette505 that's an awesome number of follies! Fx Friday shows they're big enough to trigger! And I hadn't thought about bruising from acupuncture.. in the past I had it on my head and my upper back for pain relief reasons and guess I wouldn't have noticed bruises. Let's see.

@bpietronicco good to hear you're all set!
@andy805 December will be here before you know it!

AFM had acupuncture today and really liked the lady. Very calming and took lots of time to ask questions (including lots of the ones you posted in your IVF question list @dragonette505) and also took her copies of my blood work and MRIs. I like that she's open to using traditional treatment based partly on modern diagnostics. Feels like a good bridge. She also thinks she can help my RA symptoms. Oh and her patients in IVF cycles get priority short notice appointments- I just have to text her if ER date moves earlier and she'll fit me in before. Came home with herbs too and list of foods to eat. She recommends steak and beetroot whilst priming or stimming! DH is happy :-)
Again tonight DH struggled to get the Ganirelix needle through my skin. They must be really blunt.
And I'm not sure if it's all in my head but I swear I can feel crazy amounts of twitches in my ovaries... it's like multiple pin pricks which come in flurries. I will be so gutted if they're still sleeping on Friday!

  • @emmasemm Yay! I'm eating plenty of beets too (and protein) They definitely like to see you get healthy fats in a cycle. That ganirelix needle is SOOO dull... its my least favorite because i ALWAYS feel that needle go in. Yay for ovarian twitches!!! I'm sure they are perking up for you!
  • @zwink1 Your left Ovary is like my Right! In the early days they will be like: 8 on the left and some small antral follicles on the right... Always bums me out that they don't work for it, but they know that when the follies start growing it will be easier to count so why work so hard.

  • @dragonette505 wow you still look awesome!

  • @steph8986 Cant wait for the fert report!! Are you doing regular fertilization or icsi?
@emmasemm You see I'm giving my t-shirt stretch marks around the belly! lol awful! Its like... I didn't sign up for this level of stretch! lolol

  • @dragonette505 great number! Hope you can be done stimming soon!

@steph8986 glad it went well! Get some much deserved rest!

@zwink1 yay for starting! I just started yesterday so we’ll be along the same timeline.

@emmasemm all this talk about dull needles is making me really nervous for when I have to start ganirelex! Eek!

@tosh24 and @bpietronicco awesome that you have a plan!

@andy805 you’ll have to let us know how the baseline goes!

I go in tomorrow for another HSG because my doc thinks that helps. Not looking forward to it, but if there’s even a tiny chance it’ll help it’s worth it! Other than that, just stimming away.

@steph8986 awesome! I’m icsi all the way
  • @mac627, yay! It's nice to have a stim buddy, so to speak lol. I do not envy you that extra HSG...ouch. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'd suck it up and do it too (like you said, anything that helps, right?), but I would not be happy about. GL tomorrow, I hope everything goes okay!
  • Hang in there @dragonette505.  GL with monitoring tomorrow.
@steph8986 That's great news.  Go rest!

I seemed to sleep a little better last night but I did wake up very sweaty and had to change my t-shirt (gross).  According to my fitbit I still only got a little over 6 hours of sleep but I feel better.  I'm still going to check out the magnesium supplements (thanks for all the recommendations!).
