@canucklehead123 Ah nooooooooooo! If they're thick, sure, but the gauzy, thin, panty hose kind are awful....No wonder there's a market for black panty liners
@josie12367 Did you see the #Idon'tneedfeminism trend a little while back? It was so infuriating. I read a few of these girls' reasons for thinking that, and I just got so pissed I had to stop.
If you feel you don't need feminism, fine. Then stop voting, sign your bank accounts over to your husband, remove your name from your mortgage, and if you must work, then at least make sure it's in a traditionally female profession (i.e. nurse, teacher, or secretary) and that the money goes straight to your husband's account.
There's nothing worse than a woman who renounces feminism while reaping the rewards of the sacrifices other women made centuries and decades ago that give us the rights we enjoy today. You can love the men in your life and still expect fairer treatment in our society. For God's sake.
My UO: I'm freaking out about AI. Like robots taking our jobs and humans becoming obsolete. I keep reading these articles and we're hurtling towards a future where there won't be work for us anymore. While that may sound like a dream come true, it sounds insane to me. Look, I once took a 2 week vacation from work without making any plans or having any idea what I'd do with my time. Do you want to know how I spent all that free time without responsibility or obligations? I stayed up until 4 am, woke up at 2 pm, played video games, ordered takeout, and drank beer. THAT'S IT. I would melt into the most self-gratifying, useless waste of a human being. I NEED WORK. This is also why I can't win the lottery. When I play PowerBall I always hope to just get the $1 million prize and not the mega jackpot because I know what would happen to me.
I know I put a comical twist on it but it still freaks me out. I don't want robots doing everything for me.
@wishiwaspreggo While I want work because otherwise I would be super bored, a robot does my vacuuming and its fabulous. Give me ALL the chore robots please.
My UO...I still prefer paper planners to google calendar or any other digital app. If I don't physically write it down I won't remember it. Lame one but whatever.
@wishiwaspreggo AI doesn’t worry me quite as much as Super Secret surveillance. I heard a crazy story from an acquaintance on fb which basically boils down to: when you agree to the terms of using messenger, you agree to fb listening to any conversation happening on/around your phone with no notification, whether messenger is open or not. I’ve heard similar things about any app with access to your camera.
Not that I do anything sketchy or interesting enough for someone to listen in, but it’s still creepy...
ETA: AFM my UO is that even though I’m not even ttc yet, i’m trying to find a new family medicine type doctor that would also cover any ttc and pregnancy needs so I don’t have to switch doctors anytime soon.

AFM: super lame and not really an opinion but, MH made homemade turkey soup from scratch (he made the stock as well) yesterday which we had for dinner and it was AWESOME. @meggyme Yup, apparently Alexa is listening all the time. I was only upset about it when she didn't suggest humane traps for us when we were talking about our mouse problem in front of her. I mean, it is weird that apps listen to us but I don't have anything to hide so if someone really wants to listen to my boring conversation then so be it.
@nimmle - YES!!! WTAF Why would you make something like that?! Who thinks that's a good idea? Because I sure don't. I get pissed at the automatic scanner at my grocery store because it tells me I need to put something in the bag when I actually don't and then it stalls and I have to wait for the one live human being who's texting at the counter and get their attention to come help me. Imagine how frustrating it would be to go to a lobby and the stupid bot doesn't understand your question and the company is too cheap to pay for human labor so you're SOL. That's not the future I want.
@SkilledSailor - Okay, fine, chore bots are welcome in my life. I concede that. I found out recently that in 2022 laundry folding machines will be available. I'll be waiting outside Best Buy with my credit card. I've been saying for years that I'd pay gobs of money for something to fold laundry for me. And not this crap they have now (where you have to individually hang articles of clothing and then close the machine and then it folds). I want something legit like I wash the clothes, dry the clothes, and then throw them in a machine that magically sorts and folds the clothing with zero effort on my end. I'd pay even more for something that washed, dried, and folded all in one machine.
And while I have conflicted feelings on self-driving cars, I can imagine how wonderful it would be to curl up in my seat and snooze as the car drives me and my family to Florida for vacation.
Regardless of my feelings, self-driving cars are coming 100% - and very soon. My city already purchased an autonomous bus and they're getting ready to deploy it next year.
@meggyme - That does bother me to an extent but I don't have anything to hide either... the reason Alexa and Facebook are "always listening" is so they can make more money off us. If Alexa knows you like Domino's pizza and she hears you complaining about having nothing to eat she might suggest your favorite pie and offer to put the order in right away. I'm sure Amazon is getting a cut of your pizza purchase.
@wishiwaspreggo Yes! I saw that! All I want is a robot to do all my laundry. I think that's a good line to draw. Chore robots, overall good for society. Work robots, overall bad for society. Maybe us humans would be better workers if we didn't have to do household chores when we got home..
I so wish I could wear leggings as pants but I can never find the right shirt to go with them! @canucklehead123 give me fashion tips! AFM: I haaaaate clothes shopping and I hate football. Really, I hate all sports.
@lurvleybunchococonuts +1 for not eating the chicken soup which my DH made from scratch. I hate shopping unless its for livestock/ranch equipment. Avocados are ok when mixed with things, but not plain. Chore robots are a godsend, anything else is meh. I love wearing leggings, but they aren't pants; even though thats how I wear them. I'm even talking about my Lularoe obsession. H made a really nice 3 bean taco soup, and I have been eating on it for days and want more. Baseball is better than football, and I played both in HS, so am talking about the entire experience. I have a huge (half my desk top is covered) calendar that everything goes on. I literally bring my large one from home once a week and have my Teachers Aide update them so they match. Any other type of planned gets shredded or lost.
AFM: I'm probably going to get major flaming, but there should be a rules test/logic test you have to pass to attend athletic events. I'm so tired of hearing parents and fans shout about a rule and not have an F'in clue what they are talking about.

I hate Lularoe. I wish people would stop inviting me to their parties. Spoiler alert: I'm not coming.
Also, jumping off something that @wishiwaspreggo said- I think it's bullshit that teaching is considered a "woman's profession" and that kind of attitude keeps men out of the profession, especially in early childhood. I hate the movie The Notebook. Everyone around me was bawling while they watched it. I just didn't get it. Oh and I don't understand why anyone would listen to Celine Dion.
My UO is I was some AI was a bit smarter with their algorithms. I am not pregnant not currently allowed to get pregnant, and quote bitter. Stop showing me adds and articles about babies!
Also, I don't get the big deal about Amazon prime. Nothing seems to qualify for free shipping. I accidentally signed up for it and now DH said I better make it worth it, so I guess I have to spend a lot of money on Amazon? Idk, maybe I will be lazy-ish and buy stuff that I would normally get at Target one of he 18 times I go there each week. I will also have to check out what it offers for streaming, not that I don't have a ton of other crap to watch on TV.
As for those saying leggings aren't pants (which, I mostly agree with). What do you consider them? A form of tights to wear only with dresses? Or do you think long shirts are okay?
I generally say they aren't pants, but if my bbt is mostly covered, I think it is okay. And I never wear thin ones unless I am wearing a dress.
@holly321. They are a form of tights. I’m not generally a fan of leggings with dresses, though. I clearly had an odd stance on leggings, lol. The main thing is to have my/your bum covered. Thin ones are fine for a dress.
Iblove Amazon Prime. I have to remind Mh I got the “only show prime products” so he doesn’t order something without free shipping. It is mostly utilized as a I’m too lazy or too busy to go to the store during the week for random crap and/or an online Target.
@canucklehead123 I need to buy some cozy sweaters! Lularoe is a multi level marketing thing (big company sells products to women who then sell them to other people). Lularoe has leggings and lots of clothes. They have pretty wild/bright patterns. I have the leggings because they're comfy but only wear them as jammies!
I think maternity photo shoots, like with elaborate outfits and shot by a photographer, are silly. I have no intention of documenting me at my most bloated (provided I ever get the chance). However, I like newborn photoshoots and intend to do one with whatever baby (or, more likely, kitten) I have.

Also, jumping off something that @wishiwaspreggo said- I think it's bullshit that teaching is considered a "woman's profession" and that kind of attitude keeps men out of the profession, especially in early childhood. I know at least one person on a BMB would disagree with me, but that's my opinion.

No it was def me, it was the UO thread. I think you can see a lot of it in my post history, but I think it'll take you a while to dig through it to find it. lol
Having fun today, though, so if you want to go through, now's a good time.

I generally say they aren't pants, but if my bbt is mostly covered, I think it is okay. And I never wear thin ones unless I am wearing a dress.
Iblove Amazon Prime. I have to remind Mh I got the “only show prime products” so he doesn’t order something without free shipping. It is mostly utilized as a I’m too lazy or too busy to go to the store during the week for random crap and/or an online Target.
@offtoneverland I wear my big sweaters with them and boots - so cozy! And yes, the booty needs to be covered!!

I think maternity photo shoots, like with elaborate outfits and shot by a photographer, are silly. I have no intention of documenting me at my most bloated (provided I ever get the chance).
However, I like newborn photoshoots and intend to do one with whatever baby (or, more likely, kitten) I have.
