Thanks @djd0404@Amber_Waves and @Skcobb. I figured that is what was happening. I was just so surprised by how much more I was feeling yesterday and last night.
@MJDsquared Yikes! My company is similar in that you don't "qualify" for bonding time (FMLA) until your ST disability is exhausted, but HR sets everything up ahead of time so one "leave" leads directly into the other and you don't have to sign any additional paperwork. You just call when the baby is born and let them know if it was natural birth or c-section so they can put you down for 6 or 8 weeks of disability. I can't imagine having to go into work post-partum to sign some stupid documents!
@Mjdsquared my job did everything thru email when i had to do it with our ordeal with lucas. I didnt have to go in. My boss called the hr people and they called and emailed me anything i needed to sign. And after my 6 weeks were up they called and asked if i wanted it extended. I couldn't imagine having to go up there and do anything
@MJDsquared the reason for the delay is they insist on the actual date of birth and type of birth. for your H, in particular, he would have to wait because the "reason" for his FMLA is not born yet. for you, though, usually you can sign your form in advance with your due date on there, and the only thing they need officially after the birth is a confirmation from your doctor of the date and delivery type. this shouldn't require you to go in person but some people just suck. i had a lot of issues with my FMLA paperwork last time around and it was a pain to get resolved.
side note - don't blow this paperwork off, even if you love your job and they love you. business is business. i had an issue when trying to come back to work last time and had to go to the head of HR with my FMLA signed forms to threaten a court case. it was awful and totally unexpected.

@djd0404 STD isn't a thing here (well, I have it, but it's like a supplemental benefit and I pay into it monthly and get a flat $2,000--it isn't a statewide or companywide thing) so it's not about that either. I think it's super ridiculous! @elvenchick92686 I suppose in theory DH could probably scan and email or fax the paperwork in...but we don't have a scanner (or fax machine). Oh well, at least he won't be recovering from birthing a baby when he goes in! @anewadventure Both of us are totally squared away as far as FMLA (aside from DH's having to go in and get it taken care of after birth). I was super paranoid and wanted to get it out of the way quickly! But seriously, that is really sucky of his employer.
Anyone have experience with low blood platelet counts? Mine have been dropping (at 109 today, 33weeks in) and I read online that under 100ish they may not be allowed to give me an epidural on D-Day...
My doctor still doesn't seem overly concerned other than monitoring it closely, but I'm wondering if there are any dietary changes, etc that could help.
Holy crap pelvic pressure/pain. It's been killing me this week. I had an internal exam almost 2 weeks ago, and was already about 20% effaced (no dilation), so I'm assuming it's from a combo of baby pressing down and cervical changes. Anyone had any luck with relieving the pain? Any stretches or exercises that might help?
My feet were turning into puff balls yesterday so I had a super concentrated Epsom salt bath last night and lost 2.5lbs of water weight! Holy crap haha
Anybody else not feeling hungry? i feel like this is a really odd symptom to have. I'm not zantac twice a day for acid reflex and unisom and B6 because I still throw up every 20 mins if i don't take it at night... I started this pregnancy out not wanting to take anything... oh well... I literally do not feel hungry anymore. I would not be concerned but at my last appt i lost 2 lbs in 2 weeks. I've been trying to make sure I eat but even when I do that I feel like I cant get enough in before I feel full. I do not feel like I've gained anything and concerned that this week's appt I will have lost more weight.
@ridedatide I've not been hungry at all lately either. Baby is pressing up against my stomach so bad that I usually can't eat more than a few bites, and get really bad heartburn with anything remotely spicy. Just make sure what you do eat is good for you, and mention your concerns to your doctor at your next visit.
@ridedatide my appetite has been all over the place the past few days. Between feeling super hungry to nauseous even thinking about eating. I definitely have no desire to eat while I’m cooking but I know I need to eat. So just now i made lunch and wanted not much to do with it but I just took my time and ate it over like 30 minutes lol. And now Addie is flipping all over the place so I guess at least she enjoyed it! Xo @Skcobb heartburn is a whole new animal for me right now. It’s so bad sometimes I feel like I could throw up. It’s the worst. I haven’t had to take anything my whole pregnancy but now I have tums by my night stand just in case.
@ridedatide I'm still taking diclegis and have been nauseous around the clock again and started throwing up again a few days ago after a couple weeks of reprieve. I have GD so im supposed to eat 3 meals and 3 snacks a day and it's a struggle. I have no appetite and have to force myself to eat.
@Skcobb@ShyTonia@Marley629 thanks ladies! I'm glad I'm not alone. It seems almost anything I get gives me acid reflux. Never in my life have a had it before. Marley I would die if I had to eat that much. Idk how you are doing it. Plus having GD on top of throwing up... bless you!!!
@ridedatide yah eating is a challenge for me too. Except I am still hungry... but I can't eat enough to get truly satisfied... Its frustrating. I haven't really gained anything in over a month if that makes you feel better?
@ashtynmo I've had low platelets and they've dropped linearly through the pregnancy, but my last draw was at 133 so I'm still in an okay range even if it's less than normal. We've talked about it with the ob multiple times and she said under 80 is where anesthesiologists will not do the epidural, but between 80-100 there are some who will. It just depends on who you get. (At least at my hospital).

How do you determine if you have a stomach bug vs pregnancy symptoms? TMI butni cannot stop going to the bathroom and I’m getting terrible stomach cramps and feeling like I’m going to be sick. I haven’t been sick this whole pregnancy until Friday and then it’s been non stop. I have much more admiration and understanding for those of you with the terrible morning sickness.
@kaylawing I think anything that comes on suddenly and is unrelenting is probably a bug and not pregnancy symptoms. I'd check your temperature too. It may be worth a call to the doc if it doesn't get better soon to prevent dehydration and make sure it's not a dangerous type of food poisoning.
@kaylawing while it sounds like it is most likely a bug, my doctor does say to call if you have stomach cramps with diareah. I would call into the nurses line, just to be on the safe side and to make sure they had a record of the symptoms on file.
So i have varicose veins in my vag. It’s freaking awesome. . I had one so swollen that it hurt to walk or sit. It was so large, then proceeded to bleed at church Sunday. I freaked out for a minute and then remembered the problem. I had these last pregnancy too. Whew! Crazy stuff down below.
So I woke up today feeling achy and blah (no big surprise there at this point), but has the day went on, I started to feel crampy like I was on my period. Of course, about 30 minutes after my Dr office closes, the cramps start coming in waves like contractions around every 7 or so minutes. Called the Dr on call and he didn't seem to concerned but now I'm freaking out about preterm labor. I had 0 natural contractions with DD so I'm just over here like....what do I do? Gahhh why is it never a female doctor on call when you have to call after hours?!?
@Skcobb I hate the on call dr at my practice. I want to slap him every Time I talk to him. I’d it gets too bad I’d just go to the hospital. Hope you're feeling better though.
Is anyone else having the joy of sudden no warning projectile vomiting? I’ve been throwing up pretty much daily since I’ve been pregnant but this is a new and unfortunate thing.
y'all. My back KILLS this afternoon. I can't get comfortable. (It's upper back, like right below shoulderbladeish area)
I'm wearing an old (but good) bra, so I know it's probably a little tight, but I unhooked it and it hasn't seemed to help yet. I am meh about the two nice nursing bras I got from Zulily and the other one is... ahem... nipply. So some days I don't have a choice
@kyrwyn yep that was probably me. I’ve felt that on and off since about a month ago. It’s the worst. Ughhhh I hope it let up for you. Are you sleeping with pillows in between your whole legs?
@ShyTonia Ayup. I am sleeping with extra pillows and the snoogle and it helps. I am also a lot better if I keep myself moving during the day rather than settling for long periods. When I go walking to manage my GD, the first 1/4 mile sucks and the rest is fine. But it's getting a little less comfortable each week. FX it lets up for both of us!
I couldn't figure out where to put this but I guess it's a concern? It's super concerning to me at least.
I got a notice at my OB yesterday for Nov/Dec babies that the hospital we want to use (St. Barnabas in NJ) has been so busy they had moms labor OFF the L&D floor, which means no epidurals and other labory type things. And two moms had to labor in surgery on regular operating table beds. The doctors even get texts from the hospital saying it's full and don't even come. The hospital said they deliver over 5,000 babies a year, but that seemed totally reasonable until I found out they were all right now!
I'm super low-risk and don't plan on using special labor tools like a tub, but I still want my birth to be at my choice of hospital, in a private room, with my drugs. This hospital gets a A on every report that's come out, and our backup hospital gets a C. Granted, the other hospital is nice, and I probably won't die, but that's not where I want to have our kid.
I'm just really stressed about it because that's really the ONE thing I want: that hospital, and privacy. Ok two things.
@babybison I can see why you are upset. I would be be too. My hospital was full when I had dd. I wasn’t On the L&D floor. I kind she got the shitty end of the deal. I hope for you your baby stays put until it slows down some.
@babybison That sucks; I can see why you're nervous about it. I don't understand why they would deny you an epidural just because they have to put you on another floor--they still have an A rating even though this tends to happen? Fingers crossed you get in there before all the other mamas fill the floor up!
Married May 2014 DD born August 2016 Baby #2 due December 2017
Holy hell @babybison I didn’t even know that was a thing. That they run out of room I am so naive to some stuff. I’m sure everything will work out just fine and I will pray that they open up!!!!! Ugh what a unnecessary worry to have right now xoxo
