Re: Symptoms, Questions, Concerns - 10/9

  • @babybison i'd definitely stick with your preferred hospital. luckily (i hope?) december usually has the fewest births of the year, i think. maybe it will slow down just enough. when is your due date?

  • @anewadventure EDD is 12/6, but I'm a FTM so I'm hoping it's later and not earlier.
Aren't there more babies in November because everyone is doing the dirty on Valentine's day? I think that's a thing.

  • Whoever was talking about painful sneezes earlier? Yeah, pretty sure I just pulled a muscle in my stomach from sneezing, so I feel ya.
  • @babybison i also live in that area of NJ - I'm delivering at Morristown but my SIL had all 3 children at st barnabas and never had an issue. Maybe it's more of a "just to cover their butts" in case they do have an overflow?  I would also be upset if I received that notice. I'm sorry you are having to make that decision- will you get to Wait to choose until you are in labor to see if they have a regular L&D room available or do you Need to decide to use your backup hospital in advance?

  • @Marley629 I think I can make a game day decision, but I'm not really that type of person. I'm a planner. FX I have 5 more weeks so hopefully things will calm down. If not I'll chat with my doctor about it a couple weeks before.
  • When I had my 2 year old I got a call the night of my induction not to come in. I was freaking out since I was having contraction and didn't want to go to a different hospital. Thankfully the next morning I got a call to come in. I'm due on 12/06 also, but this time I'll be induced for medical reason (diabetes). Hopefully you get into the hospital you want.
  • Ugh sorry @whiska. I'm experiencing same and I don't remember any of it from DS1. I think I may have blocked it out.  We are in the home stretch now! Solidarity!

  • Anyone dealing with restless leg syndrome? I’ve never had it before and the past two weeks it’s been hard to sleep at night because of them. I started taking a Magnesium supplement like my Dr suggested, but I haven’t noticed it getting better. Anyone have any other suggestions?
  • @failuretofly thanks. Sorry about the late response. Things have been super busy!!! Anyways. I put on 1 pound. This doctor did not seem as concerned because I'm measuring fine. She did say I should put on at least another 10 pounds before I deliver... We will see how that goes. I guess not feeling hungry is not that bad. I would hate to not feel full. I hope things start to turn around for you soon.
  • @whiska You're not alone- I feel your pain. The third trimester is no joke! I can't wait to be comfortable again and have my body back.
  • @Marley629 Solidarity!  4 weeks and 3 days to go for you!!

  • @lindsey30, yes, I am having it. It's not terrible, but enough to make it really hard to fall asleep. I have been taking Benadryl to help me sleep which does seem to take the edge off the restlessness as well. I got the thumbs up from my doc so perhaps you could look into that?

  • @ameliabedelia-2 Thank you, I will definitely check into the Benadryl!
  • Anyone else with a desk job starting to have lower back pain from sitting in your desk chair? I have a small pillow behind my back, but I need more relief!
  • I'm having right-sided back pain, mid-back area.  (Lower than shoulderblades but not really lower back.  Kind of rib cage area?).  This happened yesterday too and came back about an hour ago. It's definitely just on the right side. Dr. Google says possibly gallbladder, but it didn't start until long after I had eaten something.  Any thoughts?  Of course the phone nurse line just ended for the day at the OB's office!
  • @elcd458 when my kidney acts up from my hydroneprosis i get bad pain in my mid back area on whichever side its acting up on. I usually try to drink lots of water to try to flush it and if that doesnt work i was given a prescription for pain if it got REALLY bad. But usually a warm bath or heating pad helped it enough to where i didnt need the pain medicine.
  • I'm hungry all the time but I feel like I have no room to put food anymore. Also the acid reflux, heartburn, and constipation don't make eating much worthwhile. Everything seems like a chore right now.. I had to keep telling myself all day 36 weeks..less than a month to go
  • @kersey0208 I hear you, I get so hungry and then I am miserable immediately after! Hopefully this little guy drops at some point and gives me a little relief.  I wish I was 36 weeks too.
  • OK, I feel like I'm right back in the 1st trimester with the nausea and vomiting. I've thrown up about every day for the last week and have horrible nausea along with it. Come on Nov 21st!
  • @whiska LO has been punching the same spot on my hip and leaning into the same spot on my side for weeks. I think she finally dropped at least a little bit because all the sudden she's leaning about 2 inches lower than usual. I've got stretch marks from where she's been putting so much pressure and now I can see the full extent of them since she's lower!  :s
  • @whiska I keep getting a pointy protrusion right by my belly button (she always moves it when I touch it though--she apparently does not like being touched because she always moves away lol). I have no idea what it is. Elbow or foot?

  • @whiska- I know what you mean. LO loves to nestle up in the upper-right side of my ribcage while simultaneously pushing outward near my belly button. Sooo uncomfortable- especially if I'm sitting down when she does it.
  • @MJDsquared I'm experiencing the same thing. Since LO is currently head down, my OB said it's probably a foot.
  • @hellothere47 That's my guess too, because I think she's head down (based on how low I feel hiccups and that I feel like the large lump I see often in the middle of my belly is her butt).

Omg, sometimes she'll push on my right hip bone and it feels gross. It doesn't necessarily hurt, but I just hate the feeling (like I get squeamish about it).

  • This isn't new, but I've always been pear-shaped and it still weirds me out to look in the mirror and have my thighs/butt look small in comparison to my stomach. Lol.

Also, my linea negra showed up the other day.

Also also, the past two nights I've been walking/standing a lot (grocery store, baby laundry/other nursery stuff, cleaning) and omg the lower back pain by the end of the night. Oy.

  • @MJDsquared oooh the back pain. DH likes to joke that I'll have FLBP (future lower back problems is a post from thechive) and I'm like, no no, it's current lower back problems. I also surprise myself and do double-takes in the mirror.
  • @whiska I was taking Pepcid twice a day; just picked up some zantac 150 so hoping it helps! I slept with 4 pillows last night propped up lol

  • @Marley629 I hope the zantac helps; I've heard it can do good things for pregnant women!   It really helped when I was first diagnosed with GERD (but I eventually I had to step up to Nexium).  And propping yourself up can do wonders too.  It's awkward to get used to at first but it can help give your esophagus time to heal if it's irritated.

  • Guys... my poop this morning... gave me flashbacks of crowning with DS... I (kind of) forgot that pain/discomfort/panic-get-it-out-of-me feeling... Not looking forward to it again! Also... how on earth did I forget to poop yesterday and put myself in this situation? I don't know...

  • Hey y'all, I have a positioning question:

LO is definitely head down, but in a diagonal (oblique) position, and has been for weeks.  I can feel the head sometimes to the left side, I guess over and inside my hip bone if that makes sense.

I'm seeing a chiro tomorrow, and getting acupuncture next week.

I've checked out the spinningbabies.com website for some stretches they suggest for positioning.

Anyone else had this, and had LO go into a straight up and down position?

Other suggestions on what else I can try?

I see my midwife on Tuesday so of course I'll talk with her then, but I'm starting to get really worried.

@collectiveliving I would swear this baby is oblique too so I'm interested in hearing what others say.  I have also been on the spinning babies "oblique" page a lot in the last 4 weeks!  The nurse in my childbirth class said lunges using a chair or stool might be helpful to get baby into the right position in the pelvis.
    https://spinningbabies.com/learn-more/techniques/other-techniques/lunge/

ETA The ob said she thought baby was head down at my last appointment (34+5) but said she will feel more for baby's position at my next checkup (Tuesday at 36+5) so I am also anxious to find out!

  • @collectiveliving honestly, you've hit all the main resources. stay as hydrated as you can. try to follow spinning babies (i think their website is not organized very well, in that they have SO MANY recommendations and it's hard to sort of capture all that information)
i hope LO cooperates for you.
