November IVF

Re: November IVF

  • It seems like everyone is getting ready to gear up around here! As for me, I had my injection class yesterday. It doesn't seem so bad. Now I am just waiting for AF to show up and have my baseline on Friday so hopefully she shows up by then.
  • Loading the player...
  • @baseballhoney yay!! Hopefully I'm having my baseline around then too! woo hoo!!!
  • yall!!! Hear ye hear ye!! Just started bright red spotting so shortly will be riding the crimson wave!!!

  • I haven't been able to comment in a few days, but have been following! Seems like the site is fixed maybe?

@emmasemm, @dragonette505 I'm 100% out of pocket in Montana. Really hoping for a good number of embryos because we will not be able to afford another stim cycle for quite some time. I've been saving for years for this one.

@dragonette505 Yay for your period! haha. You should be real close with stimms to @baseballhoney
     and I! :)

@mac627 Welcome! Best of luck on this last IUI. Neat that you get to jump straight into IVF if you have to!

@laurad75 So Glad you are almost there with your process and excited you get to do a fresh transfer!

AFM Tonight will be my last birth control with period and baseline U/S and B/W on Friday. I've taken Ganirelix the last 3 days with 1 more tomorrow. As a newbie, the shots are not easy. The first day was, but yesterday and today I've been hesitating and not getting it in on the first try. Nervous for when I'll be giving up to 4 shots a day during stims :/ (I"ll be on Lovenox shots daily as well since I have a clotting disorder). I know these are just the subcu ones that are supposed to be "easy" but i'm considering letting my DH give them for me since he won't hesitate and then I can look away. Mind over matter....

@steph8986 Those ganerelix shots are pretty bad! The needle is super dull! I have my DH do the shots (ive done some when needed)...its basically his job. I have to be the science project and he has to be the lab assistant. :)

  • @steph8986 I agree with @dragonette505 that Ganirelix shots were the toughest to push in and somehow the ones where I needed more mental strength. The rest were a breeze ;-) Well, not quite a breeze but in the overall context by far not the toughest part.

And now I feel like I'm going to be lagging behind you all!
Then again, I do need AF to hold off until at least Friday night so I can fly back from China before CD3 lol.

  • @emmasemm don't even worry about being behind... my cycles are so long that you will still probably finish before me!!! lol
  • Yay @dragonette505! I'm still here waiting.
  • That is so exciting @laurad75!!
  • @laurad75 whaaaaaaaat?!? Omg!!! It’s ON!

  • Yay @dragonette505! I'm still here waiting.
It’ll come faster than you think!!!
  • @laurad75 How exciting!!! So awesome to have a calendar!

@baseballhoney 2 days to baseline!!! I think I'm gonna make DH take me out for Sushi to celebrate :)

AFM Had DH give my shot this morning for the first time and he did great was WAY better than me hesitating and getting all mental about it. Finished that horrible OCP last night (HOORAY!) And now we wait... :D

Hope everyone is having a fantastic Wednesday! Any fun plans this week? I'm planning a nerdy dog training movie night with some friends on Saturday, but other than that nothing major. (I am part of a working dog club and train German Shepherds in IPO. Hope to be at a competitive level within the next year or 2)

  • @steph8986 Hey! Going well so far! I had to move my baseline from Thursday to Friday (work scheduling stuff) But shouldn't be a big deal. Yay for DH doing your shot!! We can do it, but its nice to have their help! No big plans this weekend... just doing stuff around the house... I'm trying to get stuff done so when I'm in the thick of stimming I can be more relaxed
  • @steph8986 That's awesome that DH can help with the shots. Should be interesting if mine will have to give me any. He is so nervous about it. On Saturday I am going to get a pedicure with my sisters and mom and going to this thing where a whole bunch of vintage/home made shop things are going to be. Not thinking I will be able to buy really anything but should still be fun!
  • @steph8986 Pedi's! Sounds like a lovely day
  • @laurad75 that’s so exciting that you got your calendar!!

@steph8986 it’s awesome that your DH will do the shots for you! Mine is sooooo nervous about needles. I have given myself every single shot throughout my IUI cycles, but I’m concerned about the IVF ones, especially with you all talking about dull needles!

  • Man I just wrote this whole thing and it deleted half of my post! Super annoying.

Long story short I’m still in my tww for my IUI but my RE called in my meds so I could get price quotes for my IVF cycle. Meanwhile they were shipped to my house yesterday even though I never placed an order. Needless to say I was like wtf because I’m holding out hope for my IUI and may not need them at all, and I definitely don’t need them yet! I called and bitched and they’re taking them back, but by the time I get the return label in the mail and send them back, I’ll probably need to order them! Lol.

Getting together with college friends to pick and carve pumpkins this weekend. Can’t wait! Your weekends sound relaxing too- enjoy!

  • @mac627 wow.... crazy they sent the drugs early.... hope you won’t need it
  • @laurad75 WOOHOO!!!!!!!! Congrats on the calendar :) Its all happening!

AFM, just sitting here going through my 'rest cycle'...but because us IF ladies are now a bit nutty after a few cycles and don't know what to do with our hands unless we are POAS or giving a shot or having an U/S (my tech always says "can you push down on the left a bit...ok now the right" ) I started using an OPK to see if I can catch my O and plan out my own calendar for this micro dose cycle. No big, just trying to plan nature... you know. what we on IVF do on the daily :D  My perfect 28 day cycle decided to become a 36 day (or something) cycle after round #2 so who the hell knows what will happen this time.

ANYWAY, its been raining for 2 straight days and I MIGHT (repeat might) do some housework... or binge a show on the couch with tea all day. Might be a wasted day off from work, but I probably need just a 'me' day.

  • @cmiller73 I have 2 running 3 month calendars lol... with several possible stim start dates, retrieval dates and etc.... absolutely insane, but it keeps me busy!
  • @cmiller73 glad to see you around. A familiar face is nice. I'm doing IVF Retrieval #2. I'm on day 4 of stims. Its kicking my butt this time around. I'm gagging and vomity feeling around food and headaches. My ER looks to be Nov 3 or Nov 4.

I did the EFT test with Yale and it came back at 40% which is moderately bad. Not good and not terrible so I'll be doing this retreival and PGS testing and then 3 months of Depot Lupron and then a FET.

My new doctor (who is with SIRM NY) and gets a lot of cases like me says he has seen about 70% sucess rate after this treatment. I'm feeling mildly postive.
  • @Ash_SE Looks like you are ahead of the rest of us this cycle. What is the EFT test and what is your dx? I'm on my first IVF and have severe endo. My doc wants to do FET instead of fresh with 1 month of Lupron immediately following ER.

  • @Ash_SE Hey! I'm with SIRM NY as well... with Dr Dicken! I'm doing my 7th cycle and planning to freeze and have a polyp removed during retrieval (I hope)

@Steph8986 I haven't had it done, but its the endometrial function test to see how receptive you are to implantation...
  • I am so excited for everyone to start! Especially you @dragonette505 ! I am sitting here waiting for AF to start so I can start my next cycle and get going!

My H and I are having a hard time deciding about PGS or not. We are 30 and unexplained IF. We would love it to take out chromosomal abnormality out of the picture, but our RE at our age was kind of meh about it, especially since mosaicism can make it less accurate. We are torn.
  • @kiwi2628 how many embies did you get last time? I think I would go by that. If you’ve got tons of embies I say test. If only few, I’d say don’t test... that’s just my take. But yes with the tests sometimes being wrong and with the latest studies saying some small numbers of embies self correct.... if you’ve got lots, you can afford those mistakes. If you only have few, I feel like you can’t afford those mistakes
  • @dragonette505 I don't have a last time. This is my first IVF. My AMH is 2.08 though with an FSH of 8, and everytime I have done clomid or letrozole I make 2-4 follies, so they expect me to make 15-20 eggs (at least that is my Dr's goal)
  • dragonette505dragonette505 member
    edited October 2017
@kiwi2628 ok.... my stats: AMH 2.3, FSH betw 7 and 9.... afc between 7 and 9 as well (current cycle they’re counting around 12 afc). I have started cycles with 2afc and ended up with 17 retrieved and I’ve started with 9 and ended up with 17.... it can be hard to really know what’s going to happen. And in all of these cycles I have sometimes frozen 4 embies and sometimes just 1 (or none) Do you know your protocol?
Ps.... you’re so young, so statistically we have similar stats but you could possibly double or better results like mine. It’s likely you’ll have much better egg quality thus better embie quality...that’s the logic.
are you able to decide about testing after retrieval or do you have to decide before.
  • @dragonette505 I actually don't know. When I had my last meeting with my doctor he talked about using estrogen at the end of my next cycle and then Gonal-F or Follistim (whichever my insurance will pay for) and menopur, but all of that could change. We don't have anything set in stone yet. As for when we can decide- I honestly don't know. I will def be asking my nurse.
  • @kiwi2628 sounds like estrogen priming antagonist protocol. They will tell you the doses (which will also give you an idea about what’s expected). Generally before starting estrogen they will ensure you have ovulated and will look and see how many follies are hanging around to be recruited for your ivf cycle. Then you’lol take the estrogen till your next period. Most gals start stimming on CD3. You will probably also be getting ganerelix (or cetrotide depending on insurance) which will keep you from ovulating. I’m guessing you did iui’s before?
Many clinics will want you to have decided on whether you’re testing the embies before your stimming starts, but there have been a couple ladies here who have gotten to decide when they know how many embies they will have.
  • @kiwi2628, we had a long talk about PGS with our RE as well. We're primarily MFI, but at this point there's no evidence of DNA damage. Based on our age and diagnosis, our RE suggested not doing PGS (this is our first round of IVF as well). We are doing ICSI, and carrier screening, so if I come back as a carrier for anything they test for, then they test H, if he comes back as a carrier for the same thing I'm a carrier for, the company pays for PGS testing. We figured that was a fairly safe route under the circumstances. We're also totally out of pocket, though.

AFM, we're calendared! Mock transfer/hysterosonogram on the 2nd, stims (antagonist protocol) starting the 8th with a retrieval tentatively scheduled for 11/20ish. Then the plan is for (hopefully) a FET in mid-Jan.
  • @zwink1 That's so amazing! So glad you have the plan on paper now!
  • AFM.... ugh.... just had my monitoring today and (as I expected) the estrogen has slowed me down too much... cant start stimming till next week when I'm less suppressed. So so annoying.
  • Happy Friday friends! Just got back from my baseline. At least 22 resting follicles and estradiol of 24pg/ml. It's on like Donkey Kong! Stims start Sunday. DH and I are celebrating tonight with a fancy date night at a yummy steakhouse.

@baseballhoney how did your baseline go? Excited ? :)

@dragonette505 Sorry you don't get to stim as early as you wanted.  :(

@zwink1 We were same boat as far as PGS testing. My RE said since our first and our ages, not necessary. We are still doing ICSI though. And I'm also planning a Mid January FET! Will get to keep in contact for that too :)

@kiwi2628 Hopefully you are not far behind us on the cycle! Hope your AF comes soon! Good luck with your decisions. We decided against PGS.

  • @steph8986 I think it went well. The ultrasound tech said everything looked good. Gotta wait to hear the voicemail from my doc later this afternoon for the official word. I'm kind of worried because I didn't get my period until this morning so I'm hoping that won't screw anything up! I called yesterday since I hadn't had it yet and they said they would see how everything looks on the ultrasound today, so kind of nervous. I don't want anything to delay this or screw it up! Yours sounds like it went well, and your date night sounds great!

@dragonette505, that sucks that you can't start stimming when you want. Hopefully you can start sooner than later.
  • @baseballhoney I bet it's just fine! I got my period yesterday, but theoretically wasn't supposed to until today. They weren't concerned at all. Stuff's getting real! :)

  • Thanks for the input @dragonette505 @zwink1 and @steph8986 We will be deciding in the next 2 weeks, but my H leaning towards doing it and I am ambivalent, which means we will probably do it, lol.

@dragonette505 I am sorry the swimming has been put on hold. Hopefully next week everything looks good!

@steph8986 Hopefully I won't be too far. I usually O pretty early (CD 10-12), and if I will be estrogen priming during my LP this cycle, that means end of the month into next for stimming! Although we are going to Morocco this month so I am hoping that trip won't screw up the timing of anything.
  • I got the call from the office and we are good to start stimming on Sunday! Starting to get real.
  • @steph8986 and @baseballhoney how exciting! Good luck with starting everything!

@dragonette505 sorry you got delayed! Damn estrogen!

@kiwi2628 my re said the same about not doing pgs. I’m 31 and DOR but my understanding is bc we’re young and it’s our first ivf it’s really not necessary. Plus I’ve been reading all that new research about how the testing isn’t necessarily accurate and you may be getting rid of normal embryos or ones that would have self corrected! Freaks me out. We’re not doing it and we’ll see how round 1 goes! GL making your decision!
