October FET

Re: October FET

  • So my RE called, beta is only 12. She said it seems like the embryo tried to implant then didn’t. She wants me to come back Monday morning to repeat. I’m most annoyed bc even though we know it’s a BFN, she still wants me to stay on the meds and PIO until then. I get it, but I’d much rather her said zero and been done with it.

    Has as anyone had this happen before? I was all pumped about having a glass of wine tonight too.

    @tnh0413 I’m so sorry! In my last FET I didn’t get such a low beta but my first beta at 14dp5dt was 148. So it was obviously a chemical and they wanted me to test 2 days later. And I did but then they had some clinic event and no one called me with the results. So I had to use PIO on the third day too. So I totally get it. Once you know it’s negative PIO hurts 10 times more.

  • @tnh0413 - So sorry to hear, I agree: zero stings but then it's over, low #s just piss you off. Hopefully, if you and your SO are up for it, you can try again whenever you want. I believe it was 6-7 weeks between FET #2 failure and when we scheduled FET#3 ... and it was 8 weeks for FET#4.

  • @prudence9-2 - Agreed! PIO is kind of annoying as it is, let alone when you have to do a few more after you've gotten your news. I also feel I get more and more sensitive to the shots with each failed FET. Really hoping this one sticks ... just counting down until the 27th for my beta #isitnextfridayyet

    @kristylang - I know how you feel. I'm on my 3rd FET attempt this year (Jul, Aug) and have a 15 mo. old running around. The time between transfer is the most brutal because you're not supposed to lift over like 20 lbs ... and mine is a big ol' sweet, juicy thing. So I can't carry or hold her (unless she's in my lap) during that time and it's like she can sense it and gets very upset. Was your first achieved via FET?

  • @MamaK225 and @cdavies05 Congratulations on being PUPO! Next week is going to be busy with the betas! FX for you!

    @20T Congratulations!!

    @sarcasticowl I'm sorry your having doubts about this cycle. I can't offer any advice but I can give you creepy internet hugs and send you lots of positive thoughts that this is your sticky bean.

    @KristyLang Welcome!

    @tnh0413 I'm so sorry! That's so frustrating and sad. I wish you could console yourself with some wine tonight, but since you can't, I wish for your weekend to fly by so you can get new results on Monday.

    AFM chugging along on estrogen and waiting for my lining check on Monday.
  • @MamaK225- I can imagine not picking her up. Luckily mine is a peanut and she was 18 pounds at that time, but they told me to limit holding her ummm how?! Lol.

    Our first was was a FET and the one we just transferred was from her batch. When is your BETA? I’m sorry this is your third attempt. Hopefully you get that BFP!  Does your place grade the embryos?  Ours does and this one is the same quality as our daughter was so I’m hoping and praying it takes like she did.

    Thank you you everyone for the warm welcomes! Hope you all have a great weekend!

    @tnh0413 I'm sorry you have to go through this terrible experience. I also hope you can have some distractions over the weekend to get your mind off of it. (((Hugs)))
  • @kristylang Welcome! :)

    @Mamak225 I'm feeling pretty good. I have been on the lookout for symptoms, but so far just have slightly tender breasts, but this could also be due to the progesterone. Trying not to read into symptoms too much, but it's hard not to when so much has gone into the process. How are you feeling?

    I also realized being a couch potato is challenging. My RE is in the camp that mild excercise (e.g. walking) is okay, just nothing intense like kick boxing. However, I am feeling a bit guilty that I walked too much, as I went to a dinner for a friend and had to walk a few blocks and stairs from the parking garage to the restaurant. I have walked much less today and am just trying to relax. This is my first FET, so not sure what to expect. My beta is on Nov 2nd :)
  • @MamaK225 totally. I’m actually thinking that if my beta is good on Monday I’ll ask for a different type of PIO. Maybe not in sesame oil.

    @Bababatty good luck on Monday!

  • @kristylang - My beta is Fri the 27th (I was so happy they weren't going to make me wait until the 30th). FX, big time! Yes, they grade the embryos, but they only do a visual assessment unless you opt for PGS. All of ours so far have been really high quality, which is what makes it frustrating when I've gotten BFN at my other betas.

    @cdavies05 - Glad you're feeling relatively neutral. It's to be expected this "early" in ... in FET#1, I didn't really have any symptoms until about 6-7 weeks (pure exhaustion) and it only lasted until about 14 weeks. This round of medication has definitely produced more side effects for me, but I'm not reading anything into it until my beta. Do try to take it slow ... it doesn't sound like you were speed walking, but I would try to relax as much as you can. Catch up on light housework where you can rest/watch TV in between :smile:

    @prudence9-2 - I didn't realize the PIO was sesame oil. I don't have nut allergies (nor is it in my family), but maybe that's why I've developed a little bit of a sensitivity. If everything goes well @ the beta, then I'll also ask for an alternate. Good idea!

  • Im 11dp5dt today so I was planning to test this morning. Got up and decided to do my injections before I find out the results. So I’ve done that. But was so nervous that didn’t change the PIO needle to the smaller one and did the injection with the big draw needle!!! Then went to pee on the digital test. But not sure what, I got an error. So there goes my first morning pee. And that was the last digital test I had. Lovely.

    @prudence9-2 I’m sorry. Hopefully the beta will come back good tomorrow. Thinking about you.
    TTC 4 years. 7 failed IUI's with either Clomid, Femara and/or Trigger Shots. Started IVF journey in February 2017. Polyps removed in May. 1st IVF Transfer September 26th. BFP. Expected due date 6/14/18. Baby boy born 5/25/18 at 6 lb 9 oz. My bundle of joy.
  • @prudence9-2 I'm sorry about the HPT, but don't lose hope yet.
  • @prudence9-2 I'm sorry about that result. I'm hoping for a different one on your beta. (((Hugs)))
  • Hi guys. Today was beta and not unexpectedly, I'm out. I knew I was out on Friday (8dp5dt) but tested again Saturday and Sunday just to be sure, so thankfully on this incredibly nutty Monday at work I wasn't waiting on the call to get the news. We are planning on taking a break for the next two months (November and December) so I can actually enjoy my life during the holidays, and will be meeting with our RE at the end of next month to discuss next steps and what is going wrong. Two PGS tested embryos down the tubes and the nurse's canned response on my voicemail was "call us on the first day of your period to start the next cycle." Sorry, not throwing away more perfectly good embryos without one hell of a come-to-Jesus WTF meeting, folks!

    Good luck to everyone else who's transferring or beta-ing this week.
  • @sarcasticowl sorry for your results. I’m now waiting to have my beta. Which will results in the same results as yours :(

    this is my third PGS embryo so trust me, I know how you feel. I have only one more left. :(

  • Hi everyone! Sorry i haven’t been on here the last few days. I couldn’t comment on the thread and when I contacted for support they said I had to wait for 72 hours to comment. Anyway, how are you all doing? I have a lot of catching up to do. AFM still no symptoms. I have my beta on Thursday. I’ve been nursing a cold at home for the last few days. I haven’t had a cold in a long time and of course it comes right after my transfer. UGh.
  • @sarcasticowl sorry about your beta. Sending you hugs.

    @tnh0413 I’m sorry about your results too
  • @sarcasticowl Im so sorry! I hope that your 2 month break would provide you with a much needed rest and relaxation to recover your mind and body after this exhausting cycle. Sending you hugs and prayers.
  • @prudence9-2 just saw you POAS. I’m sorry if it was negative. I hope you get a different result on your beta.  I took a test too and it was negativ
  • @prudence9-2 - Same with everyone else: I'm choosing to believe it was a bad/expired test and that you will/have rocked that beta this morning. {{hugs}}

    Me-35, DH-36 - TTC since 08/10
    Me - anovulatory, non-Insulin PCOS, DH - low end of "normal" sperm count
       IUI#1   - 02/15 - Cancelled due to scrubbed sperm count <1MM
       IVF#1  - 08/15 - 13x5-day blastocysts (ranging from AA-BB, most are 5 or 6), not PGS, on ice
       FET#1 - 10/15 - 1 emb - BFP (DD 07/16) (estrace + PIO sesame oil + prometrium)
       FET#2 - 07/17 - 1 emb - BFN (estrace + PIO sesame oil + prometrium)
       FET#3 - 08/17 - 1 emb - BFN (estrace + PIO sesame oil + prometrium)
       FET#4 - 10/17 - 2 emb - BFN (changed to estrace + prometrium because of allergic reaction to PIO sesame oil)
    ERA Testing - 12/17 - window moved (-1 day)
       FET#5 - 03/18 - 2 emb - BFN (estrace + prometrium, ERA-timing used)
    Karyotype Testing - 04/18 - Negative (we're ok)
       FET#6 - 06/18 - 2 emb - BFN (estrace + prometrium, ERA-timing used)
       FET#7 - 10/18 - 2 emb - BFN (estrace + prometrium, ERA-timing used)
       FET#8 - 11/18 - 2 emb - BFP; looks like one baby is going to make it, DD is due 8/16 (though likely to be 8/9)

  • I have been SOOOOO tempted to POAS (beta's on Friday) that I took an HPT on Sunday afternoon, knowing it would be BFN (given that it wasn't the first pee + it was only 72 hrs post-FET). Hopefully, that'll keep me from trying it again until my beta :smile:  Not gonna lie, I'm still super nervous. Worst case: we try again in January, but then that's also 4 embies down this year.

  • @mjbarretto - Sorry about your BFN, when is your beta? I'm hoping you got a fluke stick.

  • @sarcasticowl I'm so sorry about your BFN. And then to top it off with the vm from your nurse. It's totally warranted to have that come to Jesus talk with your RE. We plan to do the same thing (break for the holidays and meeting) if this FET fails.

    @prudence9-2 I'm also very sorry about your POAS BFN.

    Lots of hugs to you both. I can imagine how hard this must be for you.

    @mjpbarretto I hope it's just too early for you! FX for you and @MamaK225 this week!
  • @tnh0413 YES rip that sucker off. And yet another reason why Facebook is the worst thing ever for all of us. I’m sorry that was the precursor to your bad news. We all deserve a nice long break for the holidays to rest and heal and get our hormone levels (and, for me, my homicidal rage that comes with them) back to normal :)
  • @tnh0413 - Ugh! I feel you on that. I'm still waiting to be able to take my beta, but not feeling very positive. And as far as FB goes ... that's not the only place. DH and I went to Waffle House on Sunday morning with DD and there was a woman two booths back that was very, VERY loudly exclaiming that she's pregnant (as her toddler was running through there, barefooted) ... and due in late June. I just had my FET last week and - if successful - it puts me around 7/7. I looked at DH and he quickly got our check.

    I hate that all of us have to go through this, but what I hate even more is that the natural innocence and happiness in the process was taken from all of us as well. Knowing all the dirty truths and details about it all. It only makes it that much more painful.

  • @sarcasticowl @prudence9-2 I am so sorry for your results. Nothing I can say will make it better, but know you both have a great support system here and when your time comes it will be the best moment ever. Hope you two stay strong through this low point and know we are all here for you!

    Good of luck to everyone who has a BETA this week. I will be praying for you ladies.

    AFM: I got  BFP from my beta today. Our doctor called and I will go back in two days to make sure it doubles, but she is very happy with our first beta number.

  • @MamaK225 my beta is on Thursday. I just feel like I’m out this cycle.

    @Bababatty thank you
  • Has anyone done a back to back FET? Or do they usually make you wait?
  • @mjbarretto - I hate that you feel that way, but yes, you can do back-to-back (at least my RE allows us). FET#2 & FET#3 were 6.5 weeks apart, and FET#3 & FET#4 were about 8. I'm still crossing my fingers for a BFP beta for you!!

  • @mjbarretto I just did back to back FETs. They would have been just fine with me doing a 3rd without even stopping to figure out why it’s not working. One of the drawbacks to going to a megapractice where you are nothing but a number and no one knows you from a hole in the wall.
  • @kristylang Congratulations! I’m so happy that your doctor is happy with your numbers. It must be a huge relief and you both must be so happy.
