@sparklingdiamond with dd I had a 1000 bill, 800 for the ultrasound and 200 for the doctor to tell me the results. Did you check and make sure everything was included with that bill? They like to sneak things in in you.
I have never been to this specialist before and they just let me a voicemail. I will call them back and ask what's included. My ultrasounds at the RE cost like $140-$160ish (can't remember the exact amount). But I am thinking this includes the bloodwork portion too and I think that was going to cost around $300. I sure hope that includes the bloodwork...
I hesitate to ask this question as I don't want to spark a debate, but can anyone answer this WITHOUT turning it into an anti-vaxx argument?
We all got the flu vaccine on Monday while at DDs pedi appt. Both kids woke up with gross colds today. I know you can't get the flu from the vaccine, but are colds as a side-effect common? Or is it more likely just a coincidence?
Full disclosure: it actually doesn't make a difference to me, I'm pro-vaccination no matter what, I'm just curious about the timing of it all. Tagging @fishsticks-n-custard because she knows things.

I would assume they picked up a cold at the pedi's office - no matter how hard they try to sanitize, those places have to be teeming with kid germs. Sorry they're sick!

hand sanitizer has become my best friend after we visit DD's Dr. @lindsye and @kmalls. It's amazing that people will let their sick kids play with the toys in the waiting room even though they know they are sick. The few times DD was sick when we went to the Dr I wouldn't let her play with the toys I just held my phone with youtube videos to keep her distracted.
I am so frustrated lately. No matter what I can't freaking seem to get to work on time. I leave on time and there's an accident or tons of traffic. Or I can't get DS out the door and leave late. I can't win
I'm the parent that doesn't allow my children to touch anything at the Ped office. I bring my own books, etc. It grosses me out to see the kids snot all over the toys. No THANKS.

I typically don't encourage them to play with the toys either, but when it was an absolute shit show getting out the door, in the car, and into the office ... I mean, at some point you just give up control.
@kmalls I took all three to get flu shots last week and I felt lucky to leave there alive. I'm only exaggerating a little bit. When you have multiple young kids at the doctor by yourself, it's survival mode... especially when the older ones find out they have to get a shot.

@kmalls no judgment here. I totally get the "pick your battles". I meant it more as, I'm the asshole mom that doesn't let her kids have "fun" in the play area. Re-reading my post makes me seem a bit uppity- didn't mean it that way at all.

I do EVERYTHING possible to avoid taking the kids to the doc solo because I H A T E it. They always decide that's the perfect time to lose their shits. If DH is with me, everyone is calm and happy... WTF kids? When I do go solo DH owes me big time because its always incredibly stressful.

To continue the pedi conversation, DD had some kind of reaction to her milk this morning. Both ears turned bright red and she had hives on one cheek. I called the nurses line and they wanted to see her, but of course the only appt they have available is the exact same time as my OB appt. So, I'm at the OB, my mom is at the pedi with DD, and thank god my aunt, who flew up from FL for DDs birthday this past weekend, is still here -- she's at my house as DS naps.
@kmalls glad it worked out but man how stressful. Hope DD is ok and that your OB appointment went ok. What did they say when you brought up about switching because of the new "baby friendly" policies they have?
I'm tired and ready for work to be over with plus I got a HUGE craving for some french fries and a giant cookie cake.
@ladythrice my kids totally do the same thing. I originally scheduled the appt for a time DH said he could go with me. Then, at the last minute a work event came up that he felt he needed to go to... which happened to be an Astros playoff game. I was not the happiest of campers that day.
@kmalls that sounds scary - I hope everything is ok with your DD. Having family support is so wonderful; I'm glad the logistics worked out for you today!

Phew, everything today worked out great. DD is fine, she has a cold and the pedi said her reaction wasn't to milk, it was just a viral rash. So that's good.
OB appt went better than I had hoped. I told the midwife how miserable my hospital stay was last time, and she was horrified. She thinks that I happened to be there right at the height of their push to get Baby Friendly certification, and they went overboard with all of it. She put notes in my file about not wanting BFing pushed on me (and will follow up closer to my due date) and assured me the nursery is up and running and I can absolutely utilize it should I choose to. She has no idea why I wasn't allowed to send the baby there last time.
ANYWAY, long story short, it looks like I don't have to change hospitals after all. Such a huge relief. So @ekendall09 and I can still be hospital buddies!
@kmalls I'm so late to this game but I think @lindsye is correct. Probably caught something from the waiting room.
Hospitals/clinics are cesspools not matter how hard the staff tries to keep it clean. It's impossible. I've been washing hands and wearing masks like an insane woman and still have a cold, because a cute kid I was taking care of wanted to hug the doctor goodbye and promptly coughed in my face.

I really hate that the bump app is being silly because I know most ladies on here are mobile users so there is nothing going on. I'm so bored at work and I wish I could lay down but if I did I think I would fall asleep. I'm almost thinking of calling in sick tomorrow. Hardly any bosses are here and I have all my work done so I'm just sitting here doing nothing. I have tv I need to catch up on and spending a day in bed sounds like the best.
@kmalls I believe it is, cause last night when I'm at home I usually use the app but I couldn't love it on anything or comment. I actually had to use my computer to write my WTF.
@peppersmith22 the more I think about the more I probably will. I still have 6 sick days to use until the end of the year. Plus that doesn't include the 5 vacation days I already have scheduled. I know MH always freaks out when I tell him I'm calling in sick because he is worried I will get in trouble or I don't have enough days. I tell him every time it takes FOREVER for someone to get in trouble for missing days (that's aren't paid sick days) and even if I didn't have the paid time it would just be one day. You need 3 in 30 days or 5 in 90 days for them to even write you up.
@kmalls the relief in your post about the hospital is palpable. I'm so glad the anxiety and trauma of the last visits are behind you and now you can look forward to a much more supportive environment. Glad too that DD's rash wasn't caused by milk, I feel like a milk allergy would be brutal!
@Dumbgurl04 Definitely take the day. Those are use it of lose it and just think how beneficial they will be to your mental health.
@peppersmith22 I am too afraid to watch it, waiting until after the pregnancy? But maybe it won't make a difference and I should just embrace all the emotions!
Ahhh! I finally told my main boss I'm pregnant. He was so kind and supportive and happy to wait to launch my portfolio until after my maternity leave at mid-year. I'm so glad. My other boss (who doesn't have a say in it) said I should just launch as planned on January 1st and monitor it through my maternity leave since I won't be sleeping anyway. That just felt like such a dick thing to say and super hard to pull off. Both this new launch and having a baby are plenty stressful on their own, combining them just sounds like hell. I won't have the longest maternity leave but it will be nice not to be worrying about my stocks every minute of the day.
That's awesome, @stalkinghorse! My husband is a trader and is always stressing about the market - I literally cannot imagine trying to manage that with the sleep deprivation/overwhelmed feelings that come with having a newborn. I'm glad at least one of your bosses is sensitive to your situation; the other one definitely sounds like a dick.

@stalkinghorse Your second boss sounds like my boss. She asked me if I was planning to take 6 or 8 weeks maternity leave. UH I'm entitled to 12 so I'll probably be taking 12 this time since last time I took 10 and I only felt like a functioning human at 9 weeks.
I just cry through most of each episode haha. I also started watching the Good Doctor. Don't start that unless you are prepared to bawl the first episode!
Ok so yesterday MH forwarded me this email that his boss sent him saying she wanted a report back the next day. The video was off the whole ring thing that guesses the sex of your baby. (I wish the bump had an eye roll emijo) Well I have seen different versions of this ring where they flip flop what way the ring goes is the sex. Well in this OVERLY cheesy video. You use a lock of your own hair and I ring that you wear the most often. Then you lay your left hand down and trace your fingers and hold it over your hand. If it sways back and forth its a girl if it goes in a circle its a boy. The added bonus to this version of it though is you keep doing it until the ring no longer sways or spins because they determines how many children you will have. (*insert another eye roll). I will say even though I highly doubt this to be accurate I did humor his boss. It swayed back and forth the first time, which we do already have a DD. 2nd time it spun in a circle, so maybe this one is a boy *shrugs* (I hope it is but I'm not getting my hopes up). 3rd time it didn't spin or sway, so we are done at 2. Either way I told MH we were done at 2 no matter what this ring theory said. Worse case this gave me a nice little chuckle for the day.
@Dumbgurl04 I remember doing the ring thing all the time when I was a teenager! No matter how many times I did it, I always 2 boys and 1 girl. I think in the back of my mind I've always thought I would have 2 boys and a girl because of that, lol. But...we're stopping at 2 so guess it was wrong - who wouldda thought?! Lol
@Dumbgurl04 That is the only thing that was ever right for me and my friends lol. We were all sitting at a fire one night, and we put our rings on thread and you hold it over your wrist. It was right for everyone who already had their kids (sex/number of kids). This was a few years ago after I had DS (he's 4 now). It said I would have 2 kids and 1st a boy and then a girl. I guess we'll see if it was right next month, haha! I don't believe in these things, but thought it was weird how accurate it was for everyone.
@lindsye so glad you are starting to get some answers that are giving you relief.
@Sissy42 - I have to agree with you. I applaud the awareness, but it is so general I have concerns with the general nature of the campaign that are difficult to articulate and I don’t want my words to come off wrong to someone.
Personal AW moment, but my cousin who has been TTC for FIVE years called to tell me she is expecting and everything is going awesome so far. She lost her mom earlier this year to lung cancer and t has been super tough. My family is staying with my cousin for Christmas and I was really nervous about my pregnancy being a negative trigger for her. I am super pumped that now we get to share in our pregnancy and I am just over the moon! Yeah for 2017 rounding out better than it started!
