@failuretofly Senioritis is a term we used in high school during senior year when you just kind of stopped caring and didn't want to do any work. I'm definitely on that train along with everyone else. I'm so tired and uncomfortable and since getting my TDAP shot, I feel like I have a cold or something (headache, scratchy throat, super tired and congested). Does anyone know how long the side effects of that shot will last? I got it on Thursday.
Even though I'm trying to save all my PTO for maternity leave, I'm taking a sick day because I desperately need a mental health/rest day. So looking forward to napping, watching wherever I want on tv and reading, and getting some stuff done around the house!
@disneyfan0511 I'm so jealous that you go on leave November 1st!
I've never heard the term senioritis so I am glad someone explained it.
AFM, I of course fell down the cement steps in front of my house today, face first. I banged up my legs pretty bad and baby boy is doing well on the monitors at L & D.
@jlemons-2 Oh no!! I'm sorry about your fall, but glad baby is doing okay. Hope you recover quickly, the soreness that comes after falls is the wooorst.
When I go out on maternity leave I'm leaving my job as well (and starting a new position when I return in Feb) so I've actually been really productive now that I only have 5 weeks left. I want to leave with a totally clean slate and have all loose ends tied up. You guys I am so excited for leave. I think this is the best time ever to be home - during the holidays and chilly weather.

@jlemons-2 I'm glad your baby boy is okay and you weren't too seriously injured! I took a fall this weekend when I stepped on a slippery rock. It was pretty scary since I was right next to a 5 or 6 foot drop into a sort of ditch, but thankfully I fell in the other direction and only hurt my leg a bit. I'm actually pretty nervous about slipping on the ice in the coming months.
@leilagphillips I'm glad you didn't fall in the other direction! I am SO glad I will deliver before we get snow/ice here, because I tend to slip/fall a lot in the Winter. I plan to make sure Quinn is securely buckled into her seat anytime I have to walk with her on snow.
Geez @ jlemons-2! I’m glad you and baby boy are ok! You too @leilagphillips! I’m finished working October 26th. If it were up to my husband, I would have been finished last month. But seriously, what the hell would I do all day? I’d be bored out of my mind! At least I can take november and get my life organized before these twins come and just throw everything into (a wonderful) chaos.
Falls are so scary! It's worse for us too right now since our brains have to recalibrate for our newly-altered centers of gravity. Glad you guys are OK.
Similarly to @peachy13 I've actually been more productive at work the last few weeks. Early pregnancy I was total shit at my job because of how bad I felt, so I feel obligated to make up for lost time, especially so folks aren't having to deal with a mess while I'm out (which will hopefully translate to me not returning to a big mess at the end of my leave)!
I also am hoarding PTO/vacation/sick leave since I am due about a week before I technically qualify for FMLA, and I need it to get me over the hump. So I'll most likely be working until my water breaks.
PS: Anyone here work in insurance? I'm having issues with my short-term disability policy and couldn't get anyone on Reddit to answer my question. Haha
Thanks for the concern ladies! The shoes I was wearing have really poor traction so I'm going to make sure to only wear them in totally dry conditions from now on!
I added "extend front bannister" to my husband's to do list last week. As you leave our house, you go onto a front porch and then wood stairs with a bannister, but then there are a few stone stairs and no bannister! Pregnancy has made me realize how silly and potentially unsafe that is!
@MJDsquared I think my favorite terrible names are names that people just try to spell special. I saw "Jaycen" on a top 100 list somewhere a few months back. Why? Why can't you just name them Jason??? And why is this so popular that it's on a top 100 list?
@Skcobb@MJDsquared I call these White Trash Names. WTN are essentially names that the parents think are fancy, but are actually nonsense. Includes, but are not limited to, yooneek spellings of regular names and anything ending in -lee/ -leigh/ -den/. Likelihood of name being a WTN increases exponentially with each letter /y/ inserted in the name.
Does anyone watch Riverdale? I watched the first ep yesterday and was pretty into it. May be adding it to the maternity leave watch list. I used to love reading the Archie comics so it's fun to see all the characters come to life. I think the actor who plays Archie is really hot and I'm scared to check out how old is he in real life.

@elcd458 Don't forget all the random names ending in "lynn" these days! I know there are some real names that end that way (i.e. Jocelyn, Katelyn [except I have no idea what the original spelling of this name is because there are 407 variations]).

DANG! Yes! I knew I had left something out! And I agree. Traditional name supposed to end that way, fine. Bullshit WTN like Jaelynn or Braelynn or whatever? Nope. These are names that people yell inside the toy section of Walmart and are not suitable for long-term success.
Sorry that I'm not even sorry if anyone is offended.
What about the name Bradyn? I grew up with many Bradyns. Although I'm seeing more Brayden's these days, but it's still a fairly common and not YouNique name.
@splsmama2016 If someone said that name out loud I’d probably assume Braden. That looks wrong to me though, but so do the versions with Y in them. *shrug*
Y'all, I have no motivation. Zero. Nada. How am I going to get this all done? Nursery a wreck. Thank you notes not written. Hospital bag not packed. Exercise? What's that? Spend probably 12 out of every 24 hours in bed most days. Freshly-purchased unused cleaning supplies sitting on the bathroom counter exactly where I put them when I brought them home a month ago. DH did so much more than just his fair share of the work early on this pregnancy when I was sick that I think he is totally burnt out now that I need him even more. Ugh. No point to this, just venting and hormonal.
@elcd458 I feel you! Since DH moved all the stuff out of the attic so it could be renovated it looks like our house imploded. There is crap everywhere, in just about every room except the attic! I'm trying to sell some of it on Craigslist just so we can get it out of the house. Our nursery is also still in the works and my hospital bag is also non-existent at this point. Oh and there's a good chance the twins could be here in as little as 4 weeks... yup, I'm freaking the fuck out lol.
@elcd458 I know a lot of people are having trouble getting onto Tb Since they did an update.
Im right there with you. I know what I need to get done but I can't get up off the couch to do it. Thank you notes are hanging over my head, crib is still in pieces on the bedroom floor, I have baskets upon baskets of laundry to fold and put away - nevermind all the unpacking that still has to be done from our move. I'm just done.
@peachy13 I binged season 1 earlier this pregnancy...it's fairly decent (and has significantly better acting than most most CW shows, but that's not saying much). Will probably watch season 2 because I'm a sucker for mellow-dramatic shows.
@elcd458 - 0% motivated over here. DD got up at 5:30 this morning and is currently sitting in her crib singing to herself because mommy needed a time out this morning (already. It's 9:30. wtf). Also, my mobile app is being a dick and not letting me post, so no mobile bumping for me. Maybe a site wide issue? That would explain the fewer posts.
@elcd458@Marley629@Skcobb I had my first "OH SHIIIIIIIT SO MUCH TO DOOOOO" meltdown earlier this week. DH is committed to helping me get the nursery painted this weekend, so that will be a load off, but there are a million things on my to do list and I have zero energies.
@elcd458 Right there with you. Nursery isn't an office anymore, but it's certainly not a nursery yet... all the baby furniture is still in boxes because I haven't painted, and I have yet to buy paint. And I can't even tell you the last time I really cleaned the kitchen or bathroom, it's downright embarrassing at this point. My checklist has screeched to a halt, and I'm all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
So since I signed up for the Pampers rewards thing, I get pregnancy update emails. Except...my 'ticker change' is Saturday (I hit 29 weeks 6 days ago) and they send the emails the following Friday. So they're telling me about week 29...the day before I hit week 30. It's annoying and I just delete them without looking.
@elcd458 don’t worry, I’m right there with you. I have actually done nothing. The nursery isn’t painted, the furniture hasn’t even been delivered yet nevermind assembled, I have not even thought about a hospital bag. All of baby’s things (acquired only because my shower was earlier this month) are sitting in piles in the unpainted basement of our house, which we have not even moved into yet.
