^^ don't worry too much. Still a good chance you'll pass the 3 hour. Not that it's fun
@sbishop426, a quick Google search says that glucose actually tends to be higher in the morning, so you should be good. I was kinda curious, too as I passed my first test which was in the afternoon, but next one is morning fasting.

With DD I was still super sick so I made it through the test , only to throw up in the parking lot .
This is time I was supposed to take at my next OB apt , however I have been in the hospital since Tuesday in bedrest since these boys decided they were going to try to come early and my cervix is dialating . So I requested them to do it here , it's. It like I have anything else to do my amniotic fluid was on the high side so they thought I may fail but luckily passed with flying colors ! Glad it's checked off the list to say the least
I can't remember who mentioned that someone on their previous birth month board was flamed for not taking the test, but there was a point in time- not all that long ago- where the ACOG didn't even recommend it for everyone, just those high risk. Until recently there just wasn't enough information to prove that it was actually worth it for every pregnant woman out there.
In addition, for a young, fit woman who already follows a healthy diet and exercises regularly chances are nothing would change with a positive dx. The recommendation is always a diet change first and foremost and only in extreme circumstances is medication necessary. A finger prick on a regular office visit could easily determine if a woman's GD is that extreme.
If a woman is overweight, doesn't follow a healthy diet and or doesn't exercise has a lot to gain from that positive dx and could make a lot of changes before requiring medication.
There were plenty of women (on the bump, and in my circle) who refused the glucola test when I was pregnant with DD1.
I was in far better shape and ate way better pre DD1- that damn drink made me unbelievably sick. My body just couldn't handle all of that sugar in one sitting. I don't remember it being as bad with DD2. I haven't yet taken it this time around. My OB usually has me head to the lab ahead of an appointment to suck down the drink so I don't have to just sit around for an hour. I should call ahead and see if she wants me to do it before this next appointment, or the one after.
My office never told me the numbers from my glucose screens, but I just realized I can view it on the patient portal. With DS I was 129/130. With my early test this time I was 125/135. I have to do it again on the 23rd...
@EmilyLove25 on to the three hour. Blood work also came back as borderline anemic.
I know I'm jumping the gun and still may pass the three hour....but... anyone who's been down the road before know if a GD diagnosis means a guaranteed induction? I went in to labor on my own last time and would really hope to do the same again.
@crizz13 GD does not guarantee an induction (usually! I can't speak for your practice specifically!). A lot of the time it can be completely managed with diet, and then for the most part it really doesn't impact your birth plan at all. I think induction may be brought up slightly earlier (say if you haven't gone into labor by 41 weeks as opposed to 42, for example) if you have a GD diagnosis than if you don't, but I'm honestly not 100% sure on that.
FX with your numbers being so close though that you pass the 3 hour no problem!

My understanding was that they would only induce if it looked like your baby was going to get dangerously big if they waited. But my doctor is pretty cautious.
Took my one hour this morning... uck! and after being up for hours last night with heartburn the last thing I wanted to do was drink that.. Should have results tomorrow.
I have to take my one hour again in 4 weeks. Bah! This time my OB said that she didn't think I'd fail since I passed my last one 3 weeks, so it's just standard procedure now. So that was comforting. Last pregnancy she was sure that I would fail both tests I took so it just felt nice that she believed in me.
Doing mine at my next appointment on the 26th. Made my appt early so I don't have to go a long time without food. I will also get my dtap and my Rhogam (sp?) Shots.
@JuliaGoolia719 I'm going in for mine today at 28 weeks. FX, I won't be able to stand the lecture from DH if I fail...he doesn't understand that it isn't my fault if I get it...I had to tell him last night to Google it, didn't help.

Currently sitting in the lab counting down the hour until I'm done.
Edit: Wrong tag!
Came for the test yesterday. My Dr told me to not fast but then wrote that I should fast on my paperwork. They sent me home.
So here I sit on a Sat morning for about twenty more minutes. At least there are other expecting mothers to commiserate with in the waiting room!

Elevated levels on the one hour! I’ll be going in tomorrow for my three hour part two! Trying to be grateful for the three hour gift of time
