Everyone should be getting their glucose tests soon, if you haven't already, so I figured this would be a good place for everyone to ask questions, share their results, etc.!
I took my first one, at 20 weeks, passed with a 74. I'll be taking it again around 26 weeks. I'm figuring I'll pass again, but I still have to take it again due to my weight.
I have my 1-hour test tomorrow. Hoping it's not as bad as some people make it out to be. I wasn't asked to fast for the 1-hour, so hopefully I'll at least feel ok.
I have mine this afternoon. I ate normal breakfast with coffee this morning, I've been having some protein snacks, and I have to drink my fun orange drink at 12:45pm. I brought lunch to have before then, but I'm not hungry enough for a full meal. So we'll see.
Took mine yesterday and passed. I was told to avoid sugary foods for a couple days up until the test, and have a protein-rich breakfast beforehand. I barely passed (like 2 points away from the cut-off) with DD so I was really nervous this time around.
Just a PSA-PLEASE take the glucose test! We had a girl on my last BMB who didn't want to take the time out of her day to take the test and she was flamed pretty hard. It's one hour- GD should be important enough for you to go to the doc/lab for your own health and for your baby(ies).
My doc gave me a big window of time to take it - about 4 weeks - and did not give me any directions at all. I think I will take it the Saturday of Canadian Thanksgiving which is next weekend. Is there anything that I need to know? Glad to eat breakfast! I hate fasting for anything. LOL!
I have the materials and am either going tomorrow or before my appointment next Thursday... it sounds like some people find out asap if they passed? I can't remember from last time when I found out... for those worried it'll be bad, it really isn't that bad. You aren't going to want to chug another one immediately, but it's very tolerable.
A suggestion I would make is to bring a snack for afterwards. Last time I made the mistake of not bringing anything with me and felt super anxious and shaky. So this time I brought a small granola bar to eat right after they took my blood.
Thanks for the suggestion @supercoolstephy! I take mine in two weeks (I’ll be 27 weeks). They wanted me in the week beforehand but I’m out of state then. i have to chug the thing and not eat or drink anything until I have my blood drawn an hour later. Not sure how quick the results come in. My office does a lot of the blood work on site so I’m hoping I’ll have it same day. I’m on the heavier end so hoping I’ll pass:(
I’m a little nervous because I don’t do well with sweets. Anything rich makes me flushed and sometimes I get queasy. Ive heard the drink is super sweet so I’m sure it’s not going to sit right with my stomach.
@madcouplewithabox I'm concerned about the same thing. I don't have a sweet tooth. I usually can't eat a whole piece of cake. I take the frosting off cupcakes, and I eat plain soft serve because I get nauseous if I try something with mix-in candy or syrupy sauce.
I've heard if you puke you have to start over. GREAT.
Mine isn't until another couple weeks and I'm nervous which is dumb since I did it last time. I just can't remember anything about it! I have such a weak stomach and strong gag reflex.
With DS, I opted out of the Glucola and used an alternative Jelly Bean test. This time at our military hospital the food alternatives are not an option so I opted to track my blood sugar levels for a week at 4 times per day. I cannot believe someone would just not do anything at all....yikes!
@myorke24 I wish that was an option at my office! I would way rather stuff my face with a disgusting amount of jellybeans than drink Glucola again. I already did the early test at 17 or 18 weeks, which the doctor that day said wasn't even necessary (thanks, random RN at 12 weeks) and now I have to do it again next month. I got a different flavor this time but I'm not optimistic. The first sip definitely made me gag for a minute.
I know my office gave me a few minutes to drink it (five?). So you don't really have to chug it too fast.
I took one at my first appointment and have another at 28 weeks, next month. This next one I'm supposed to take fasting - I don't know how I'm going to make it to 9am without food, I'll be so sick

Thanks for all the posts and advice. I also don't understand refusing this test?!
I take mine tomorrow afternoon. I decided to go with the one hour test. I'm so nervous about it. I have been super good with the sugar this week...I really needed to do it anyway.
My doctor usually does the test between 24 and 28 weeks. I see her at 24 weeks and have a repeat ultrasound so I think I am going to push the test until week 26 or 28. Plus I need my flu shot and tdap....yay. But I am just going to go off what my doctor says as to when I should do it. Good luck ladies. I heard the lemon lime one is the best and it just pretty much tastes like flat syrupy sprite.
I did mine yesterday and I had the orange flavor. It tastes like one of those orange Fla-vor-ice pops that you buy when they're liquid and supposed to freeze.
I'm 100% in the minority and I like how it tastes. I don't like how it makes me feel 30 minutes in, but I'd drink it if it didn't make me feel like shit. haha
I had to do one in the first trimester due to my age and I passed. Then I was asked to be a part of a study on which test is more effective so I did another test during my first tri. Now I have the regular screening coming up in a couple of weeks. This will be my 3rd and last ever glucose test. Thank goodness!
Just finished drinking the glucose drink! I had fruit punch and it wasn't terrible. I think it kind of tasted like Hawaiian Punch - Fruit Juicy Red. haha Getting my blood drawn at 11:30am then we will await the results!
@missblaze when I took my flu shot on Tuesday, my arm was so sore afterwards! I was really surprised. When I get blood drawn, my arms never hurt afterwards.
I had mt test last week, and I thought it tasted okay. It was the fruit punch one. However, I was jittery for the next hour, so I didn't like how it made me feel at all! Thankfully my results came in, and I passed, so I won't have to do the 3 hour one.
I didn't find it terrible. I threw it back and chugged it (pretended I was at a bar again). Mine was red and it reminded me of Pedialyte. It wasn't pleasant but I drank it in less than a minute so the unpleasantness was brief. My doctor didn't tell me to fast and I think I ate about two hours before the test. She said that fasting isn't necessary because it's supposed to see how you process sugar under normal circumstances and it's just a screening to see if you need further testing (the 3-hr). DH did say I was very talkative afterwards and talking more quickly. I don't consume that much sugar outside of fruit so it hopped me up a bit. Oh and I passed.
I took my first test for this pregnancy at 18 weeks and passed with a 116. I take it again for (hopefully) the last time on Wednesday. I hate the drink with a passion but it does taste a tiny bit better cold than room temp. I've always had the orange flavor and wonder if another flavor wouldn't be so terrible.
Question.. With my first pregnancy I took the test sometime after work- so 5:00ish. I plan to take it after work this time too to save on pto-- will the results be different if taken in the morning vs afternoon? Passed my first pregnancy but worried about failing due to my family history of diabetes
@missblaze ugh, bummer! I failed the one hour with DS2 (skipped right to the 3 hour with DS1 and I will again with this baby), but my numbers on all my 3 hours were excellent. Fingers crossed the same thing happens for you!

How long did it take for people to get results?
