Hey mummies!! Congrats to all of us on our precious may babies!!! Looking forward to sharing all our stories and pregnancy adventures with you all!!! I’m 33 with my 3rd pregnancy and it appears I like age gaps between pregnancy’s lol my twins boys are 14 and my daughter is 8. I also have a step daughter who is 8 so like twins on twins in my home lol and now another on the way! Look forward to hearing from you all

Hello!! I'm late to join because I JUST got a BFP this morning, at 10 weeks! I had a strong inkling I was preggo for about a month now, but had gotten a BFN when my August period should have started. Anyways, lately I've been definitely feeling pregnant, so I took another, got into the doctors right away to have it confirmed, and here I am!

Im a STM, my DS is 16 months and will be almost 2 when baby number 2 comes along! We're really excited to complete our family!

My my due date is May 9, I will not find out the gender (we never did with DS) and I am in LOOOVE with the epidural!!!!

@marina926 well last time we wanted to know, but both ultrasounds he ended up being a stinker and they couldn't get a clear shot of what was between the legs.
I was bummed out not knowing. But after 30 hours of labor, I finally gave birth, and I hadn't even seen my baby yet. My husband, with tears in his eyes and a huge grin on his face declared proudly "Its a boy! We have a son!" They put that beautiful, tiny baby on my chest and I was immediately in love. It was such a fun moment!
In this age where you can scan and screen for every little detail before you actually give birth, not knowing the sex keeps some of the mystery and excitement in modern childbirth! It's not for everyone, but we really liked it!

Hi everyone! FTM here. Had our first ultrasound today and it feels so real someone pinch me! I'm about 8w3d. Husband & I have been married two years and we are very excited to finally have a little peanut of our own. I'm really grateful that in this day in age we have the technology to connect with each other. Hoping we can all learn new things and lean on each other for advice. Happy to be here!

Hey everyone! This little one will be number two for my husband and I and we couldn't be more excited! My son will be two in November. I don't think he quite grasps what's going on, but I think once baby is here, he will be ok with it. I'm due May 22, but if this one is like big brother, it will wait till June to arrive.

Gender vs sex is a hot topic in the US right now. In this case we use the term "sex" to represent the sexual organs the babies will be born with. We use "gender" to indicate who a person is socially.

I took this from Medical News Today: "In general terms, "sex" refers to the biological differences between males and females, such as the genitalia and genetic differences. "Gender" is more difficult to define but can refer to the role of a male or female in society (gender role), or an individual's concept of themselves (gender identity).

Sometimes, a person's genetically assigned sex does not line up with their gender identity. These individuals might refer to themselves as transgender, non-binary or gender-nonconforming."

Hi everyone! I'm a mom to an almost 2 year old (December). I'm still nursing and haven't had a period in over 2 years, so baby was a welcome surprise. According to my dating ultrasound last week, I'm due May 22.

I'm a middle school music teacher, so timing isn't great. We do a huge celebration for memorial day. Other than logistics of that and our spring concert, I'm super excited and look forward to getting to know you all!

If we're seriously going to dissect termanology here, why don't we do it on all things and not just sex/ gender?

Why don't we call our unborn children what they are...? Embryos until 9 weeks, fetuses until birth, babies after? But as soon as we conceive, we call our unborn children, well, "BABIES". Is that politically correct? (Not in the pro-choice community, btw. Not when it's convenient to not call them "babies".)

Or let's take the boyfriend, fiance, husband thing, for example. I've talked to plenty of women who refer to their "significant other" as "fiance" or "husband", when they are not married. Do I correct them? No, because that's the terminology they choose to use. I don't say "Oh, you mean your bf?" Or "baby daddy?" Nah, that'd be rude.

My point being, y'all your babies "genderbread persons" all day long, if you want. I won't be offended. I'm open-minded like that. So I hope it's ok to use the term "gender" when referring to my husband (yes, we're married!

) and I not planning to find out if we're having a boy or girl baby. Thanks so much for your understanding.

No offense, but if I choose to be "old-fashioned" and use the term "gender", should I not be able to? Why do you feel the need to correct and "educate" me? Why is everything ok these days, except the conservative viewpoint? Why do I have to just refer to my child's genitals rather than who they are or how they choose to "represent themselves"? And does an unborn baby already "identify" with "male, female, trans, etc."? I think not.

And there's really no need to "educate" me on this. I have a graduate degree in social science and am well versed and educated on this issue. It IS my choice to use the term "gender" (which I did intentionally), not just because I'm not a native English speaker (although when I used the term "gender", I automatically translated from Russian to English, as I often do), but also because, well, I want to use the term. It is only in America that someone will get so picky about terminology, as in other parts of the world people seem more tolerant of those who are different.

No one was trying to be rude. The previous poster's were simply stating what the correct terminology is when identifying a male or female baby, you stated yourself that a baby does not identify with a gender at this stage so I don't understand why you would use that term. I think everyone on this board has so far showed we are very tolerant of each other's views no matter how different they are. Everything that was posted in response to you using the term "gender" was science based not just an opinion.

Hmmm, I think science would say there are males and females - pick one or fail to reproduce. I don't think evolution cares about identity, except in the case that it interferes with reproduction....

ETA: please don't take this as me disregarding our present culture. I'm mainly libertarian and dgaf about most things, I just object to "science"

Echoing @bwow615 if a baby has no gender identity then sex would definitely be the right term.

I feel like when people refuse to use sex in this scenario they are uncomfortable with the word sex. And possibly uncomfortable with gender fluidity/identity.

I don’t think this has anything to do with people being in accepting of a conservative viewpoint. And TBH, I’ve never heard some refer to a significant other with a label that wasn’t actually an accurate description of their relationship and I would side eye and probably correct someone if they called their boyfriend their husband. It has more to do with the definition of gender versus sex.

I dont care that you're apparently conservative, I care that you are disregarding any information given to you outside of your narrow scope of view.
