@tosh24 I do plan on pushing back on the test date I just didn't want to do it today. I'm supposed to call nurse on cd1 so they can schedule it and I'll mess with it then.

  • Wow, I took the week off of theBump and I've missed so much.

    Congrats @katie121209!!!!!!!

And it sounds like a lot of us ladies have had a rough week here. :(

Even though I'm NTNP this cycle (not really tracking my days, not much BD going on), I think I'll move on to this TWW since I'm sure I've O'd by now, and I'm not out because at least some BD did go on. I had a feeling I O'd sometime last week so I marked it in my calendar.... just a weird gut instinct since I'm not tracking in any other way. I had a gut instinct the past 2 pregnancies, and I also had a gut instinct about my loss.... so I kinda trust myself. Anyway, I had fertile CM a couple days ago which is making me confused though. Gone after a day. I think my cycle is just super messed up, it's only my first since my MC.

I went to the memorial service today that my hospital put on for my baby boy I lost as well as other parents who lost babies, and it was extremely emotional... but I think it brought some closure. I feel more ready to start TTC next cycle.Or, hopefully I'll just have a BFP this cycle ;)
  • @katie121209 congratulations!! I hope you have a healthy 9 months!!!!
  • So the RE suggested femara if/when we are ready to try something else. I’m def not ready. Will keep trying for now. Has anyone had any experience with femara ?

@sprkls8506 how long have you been ttc? Total for us has been 14 months. I've heard femara has less side effects than clomid but I'm not comfortable doing either without monitoring. We are going to wait until it's been a full year ttc after loss which will be just after New Years. I have a feeling by that time I'll be done with the natural route. I'm not crazy about taking hormones since that progesterone pill made me sick but how much longer can i do this for? Probably longer if I was younger.

  • @fishee333 sending you a big hug. I'm sure the service would have been quite emotionally draining.

@katie121209 congratulations!! Wishing you a safe and healthy 9 months!
  • @sprkls8506. I'm taking femara now.  This is 5th cycle of taking it.  I have had zero side effects.  My insurance covers medication so it's like $7 for me.  When I was just taking femara only I saw RE around day 12 for US.  You can take it and time intercourse or do IUI.   At the US, they would tell us when I need to take trigger shot to ovulate.  The shot is ovidrel and it's more expensive but again my insurance covered it and it is only costing me $25.  My insurance covers most of RE for what we are doing.  I pay a $40 copay each visit and then about $100 for other services each month.  my RE told me that if insurance didn't cover anything then it would cost about $800 each cycle and that included the meds.  My friend has zero coverage but started taking clomid and her insurance picked up meds so that could be helpful if insurance picked up meds if nothing else.  I started adding a stronger med in this last cycle and pharmacist found coupon for me.  She said there are a lot out there for meds but you have to ask
  • *lurking from WTO*

@katie121209 congrats! @ELeighMay I feel the same about the "6 days before missed period" thing. I feel like you shouldn't be able to write those claims if its based on like, the small percentage of people in the world who ovulate early enough to have like a 16 day luteal phase and also have high levels of HCG early on. I have a 10 day luteal phase there is no way I'll turn that test positive 6 days before missed period but I do it every month anyway, lol.
  • @Mack2342 it is soooo great that you get so much coverage. My progesterone only costs me $50 a month but I don’t know if femara would cost more or less. The RE told me that you can get 3 cycles of IUI for $2500. So it seems almost the same as what ur saying. I believe one cycle would be $1000 but if you get 3 it’s a little bit less- which is great unless you get pregnant the first time. Altho at this point I don’t even know if I could care as long as I got pregnant!! Thanks for sharing your experience. They also offered clomid but given the breast cancer history in my family she said maybe femara would be better.
  • @vlagrl29 it is a yr for us. I’m not 100% ready to try the meds yet. Just looking into options.
  • @sprkls8506 I agree if you spend the $2500 and get pregnant with sticky LO first time then totally worth the money spent.   I was not offered clomid but I'm assuming due to age they figured why waste time.  You can call insurance and inquire if it is covered so you can be fully prepared when and if you go that route
  • @mack2342 is femara supposedly better?? I’ve only done a little research so far. I am def going to call insurance. I love calling them. Everyone tells me I have great insurance but THIS isn’t covered which really sucks right now.

In other news AF is due tomorrow-obviously not with progesterone but pretty sad still about BFN. Last yr at this time I got my BFP for my first loss. Thankfully hubby gets out of work early and we are going to enjoy the sunshine. It is a perfect fall day here!!!
  • @sprkls8506 what I've read about the two is that clomid doesn't work for some it can also thin lining.  If it doesn't work for someone femara usually works for that person. I think a lot of REs are getting away from clomid.

Its difficult when you hit those milestones.  I've passed them all with the first loss.  2nd loss EDD is coming up in November and not looking forward to it esp if not KU.  Glad you have a distraction I find that helps
  • @Mack2342 it would cost less than $800 if you were doing femara only right? This is what we will be looking at in January.

  • @vlagrl29 a little less.  You would have to pay for the meds and then the US so whatever your dr charges for that.   Which I've heard when you pay out of pocket they give you different rate than when it's submitted to insurance.  I'm sure you can check with insurance on med coverage and then ask dr about their cost for US.  Honestly the IUI is the cheapest part of the process

@mack2342 - yeah I'll check if and when we get to that point.  I know my insurance now is good but it  doesn't cover fertility.  I wish I could just not care about monitoring and take clomid with my OB because it would be hardly a dang thang.  He would check day 21 P but no U/S - do the RE only do 1 US with Femara?  I guess that's all that is needed right and the day 21 P test.

  • @Mack2342 yes I’ve heard clomid can thin the lining as well. And yes-distractions help!!! Tomorrow it is going to rain so I see myself at the mall!! Or hey maybe Target.  :)

@vlagrl29 it would def be less without the IUI. My ques is how much is the U/S to monitor. Ugh!!

when I asked my OB about thin lining with clomid he dismissed it  - there is 1 other OB in our area with a different practice I could inquire to and see if they do femara but we will be changing insurance first of year so I'm not sure if she is on it.

Usually if something isn't covered a doctor will give you at least 20% off.  DH is a great negotiator so I always have him deal with the financial side of things when it comes to that.  I mentioned to DH about contacting an RE just to get a base price so we know but he convinced me to not do something we may not even need and just to wait like we talked about.  So I'm just going to continue to focus on the puppy lol.

I doubled up on coq10 yesterday so I'm officially taking 400mg of it every day.  DH told me last night that he doesn't like to see me sad so that's why he may joke around when I want to talk to him and end up crying.  I always thought he wasn't taking me seriously and would tell him just to stop and listen to me.

  • @vlagrl29 if you decide to go RE just know that sometimes it can take a couple months to get in. It took me two months to get into my appt
  • I tested this morning at 9DPO, mainly to see if the trigger was still showing up in my system. I've had HPTs pick it up until 12 DPO/14 DPT but this time I just bought dollar store cheapies that aren't super sensitive. BFN. So, now I know that if it turns + at any time in the next few days, it is because I'm actually KU and not because of the trigger. As worried as I am about HOM, I'm also worried about not being pg....how does someone O 10 eggs and not get pg at all? That would be just my luck. In other news, I got a call from the new clinic that my RE referred me to for the subsidized IVF - my consult is in 3 weeks with my new RE. I hope this isn't a waste of time and I can actually get in for treatment within the next few months. I am losing steam.

Can't remember who asked the femara question but I have used it for 5 cycles and have had little to no side effects. The only side effect I did have was when I went from 2.5 mg to 5 mg I got some hot flashes but that's about it. And because it is actually a cancer drug and ovarian stimulation is an off-label use, I've heard that a lot of insurance companies that don't cover fertility treatments or drugs, actually cover the femara. It's super easy to take (oral pill), cheap, and has little side effects. The only monitoring I've had on femara is  CD3 blood work and u/s and CD10 blood work and u/s. I do not see the doctor at all - just talk to the nurse on the phone to get my instructions.

  • @Mack2342- that's good to know.  I'll probably get the referral from my OB in November.  I'd be ok not starting treatment until Feb.  I know that this sounds weird but because I have late implantation I think I don't want to chance not knowing I'm pregnant and starting a drug that may hurt it.  We will continue to TTC thru December then take a rest in Jan to ensure no pregnancy then start treatment in Feb.  Gosh that sounds really ocd and planned doesn't it. lol.

@tosh24 wow 10 eggs?  that's would make me really nervous!  well maybe 1 got fertilized you never know!

  • @vlagrl29 you don't start meds until you have AF bright red flow

oh I figured @Mack2342 but I don't turn any test positive until 4 weeks and I already had a flow by then.  I know it sounds weird.  OB thought maybe its IB but I thought that was supposed to be light and this is like any other AF I've ever had.  Same with DD.  Had the flow 2 weeks later turned a stick positive.

  • Pretty sure I'm over here now. I'm not tracking so I don't know if I O'd but I spent the middle of the night googling 'is insomnia an early sign of pg'. Then onto 'is heart racing an early sign.. .' Next up 'is bsc an early sign...'  (I'm only on cd17, somebody turn my Google search off!!!)
  • 40momma I've had BFN's and I'm still over here like, "maybe I'm not out yet" *googles the statistics on women not having symptoms other than swelling before BFP
  • Wow, things have been active here today! Sorry I don’t really have anything to add to the discussions about different medications/treatments, as I haven’t explored those yet, but I hate that it all seems so expensive and so many insurance companies don’t cover fertility treatment (mine included).

@tosh24 FX that one of those 10 eggs was fertilized!

@ELeighMay you’re not out till you’re out.. or at least that’s what I keep telling myself... (TW... FWIW, when I got my BFP for DS, i literally had zero symptoms to speak of, so I don’t put too much emphasis on symptoms alone... end TW)

@40momma haha, welcome to the crazy train! There’s always room for one more!

AFM... guys, I had willpower this morning and didn’t POAS! I’m sure I’ll go back to my POAS addiction tomorrow, but for today I at least didn’t see a bfn.

    HAPPY FRIDAY!

  • @tosh24 hoping for you!!!

@pumpkinpancake it's so nice to see I'm not the only one who POAS way too many times and way too early... I think there's got to be some kind of world record for that right?

I'm on cd 24 out of 30 usually.... Not too hopeful this cycle since i was out of town on O day but we did bd the night before so there's a chance. FX.
  • I definitely POAS way too many times and way too early. I always have that thought "but maybe..." I have a ton of cheap tests from Amazon so it's very easy.

@tosh24 Wow I would be so nervous about 10 eggs, but I am hoping one (or two?  :)) got fertilized!!

As for me, I've been peeing a lot and am wondering if it's because I'm KU but I always pee a lot. Ugh.

  • @vlagrl29 @fishee333 yup, at least 10 eggs. My IUI cycle was cancelled (obviously!) but DH and I BD'd the night before I found out I overstimulated and I O'd 2 days later so there's still a chance. Half freaking out and half hoping at least something takes.
