@allowachick the 24 hour test is for gestational diabetes. They give you jugs you have to fill with your own pee over 24 hours and bring back to them. It's not used very often for obvious reasons, and usually only when you trigger the other two types of easier tests.
@allowachick@ngolimento all the times I've had to do it, it was for pre-eclampsia, looking for protein in the urine. I've never had GD. My glucose test was normal. I thought this was a routine thing for everyone. They do a baseline and then test later in pregnancy to see if it's changed.

Sorry, you're right I misspoke it's for pre-e. I do know it isn't a standard test for most pregnancies though. Usually they reserve it for people who show protiens in their urine, or who have pre-existing BP problems.
It's weird that the tests they do vary so much from provider to provider. My OB takes urine samples every appointment but I've never done a 24 hour collection @psuxray07
@lund your breakfast burritos sound amazing. I May have to try pre making some! I am also in the two breakfasts club. Usually a plain blueberry waffle first thing in the AM and then another small something around 9:30. It would be great to have a hot meal option like a burrito.
I have really been on a potato kick lately....hashbrowns, tater tots, baked potatoes. It's some of the few things that I know my stomach will be ok with.

I scratch my head at how different our experiences are... I have NEVER done a urine test for this pregnancy.
Sooo a friend from DS's BMB is going through a holy roller-coaster of emotion right now. She had her second in June, baby is about 3 months old right now and she started feeling off last weekend so she took a pregnancy test. It was a clear visible positive. She freaked out, nervous about the possibility of two babies 11 months apart, and took another test, came back negative. She bought more tests, took another one the next day in the AM and it was a faint positive... but she took another yesterday AM and it was negative. She went to her OB and got a blood test done and is now awaiting the results... I'm stressed out FOR HER!
Has anyone experienced this before??? She said it was the same for both her previous pregnancies. For her second even the blood test was negative!! She demanded an U/S a week after her blood test and the U/S was what confirmed the pregnancy as all the at home tests (some positive, some negative) and in office blood test (negative) proved inconclusive. She's so stressed out right now and I just can't believe that the tests could be so damn wonky!

In other news... I'm spending allthemoney because I joined this stupid (I mean, amazing really...) facebook group that shares super awesome steals on name brand clothing and accessories. SOMEBODY REMIND ME I'M PREGNANT AND TO STOP BUYING CLOTHES THAT WON'T FIT ME IN TWO MONTHS.

My doctor Called with my blood test results this morning. Everything looks great and we are having another boy!! I didn't know we were finding out the gender so that was pretty exciting!!
@ladythrice I've never had that happen but that sounds incredibly stressful! My OB says home pregnancy tests are so accurate that they don't even do a confirmation urine or blood test. They just do the ultrasound at the first appointment
@peppersmith22 I was seeing MFM at HMC I guess just because I have had high BP since I was little. I never had any protein in my urine, but I swear I had to do it like 3 times, as well as give a sample at every appt. It's seriously annoying to do, lol.
@ngolimento yeah I've had high BP since I was a kid...but what's funny is, when I'm pregnant, my bp is like awesome the whole time. It only went up at the very end like right before I had him, and back down for a few weeks after. I wish these babies would permanently fix my BP, haha.
@g_amoss it won't show me any picture... but that'd be a good idea for a thread! I found a shirt to go along with DS's costume. I wish our bumps would be bigger for it too!
@g_amoss my OB makes me give them a cup of pee at every visit . Don't worry, the farther along you get, the more you will feel like your OB is a urine vampire.

Same with the pee every appointment. And I don't care how many times I do it, I still cannot get the hang of it. I will be peeing on my hand and all over the cup every.damn.time.

I have found that it is much easier to catch in the cup if I crouch instead of fully sitting. I used to have the same problem of pee everywhere until I tried that.

THIS. Also, the further along you get and you can't see the cup. Well good luck with that. It's all a guessing game at that point, a game I like to call 'lets see if we can get pee in the cup today'.

I am totally going to try that because I have to pee in the cup at every appt and the further along I get the more it just gets everywhere.
I developed a hemorrhoid from pushing with my last pregnancy and it's flaring up right now and freaking hurts! It usually doesn't flair up much or really bother me at all. Lame.
@ngolimento@sparklingdiamond@mispanda man, after using approximately 659813598419877 Wondfo OPKs and HPTs during TTC I am a goddamn peeing-in-a-cup expert. For me it definitely helps to wear something that allows me to spread my legs apart as much as possible so that I can see what I'm doing. But, like @Mispanda said, all bets are off once the bump is big enough that visualization is no longer possible.

I will have to try that. Or get myself one of these:
@saralee797-2, I was at the state fair and my SO was eating one. I was too full and said I didn't want to share it. He didn't like it so he threw half of it away without asking me if I wanted any of it and I yelled at him and cried because I wanted the option of taking another bite. Later in the day I cried again because I felt so bad about yelling at him. It was a rough day.

I have dealt with hemorroids and I got a prescription from the doctor because it was so bad! But I think what really helped was the Tucks brand medicated wipes.
This totally may be because I don't feel well acquainted with you all yet, but do you guys feel that we have a rather small group of regulars on this board? My last BMB was large throughout the duration of our pregnancies and remains that way two years later. It just seems like there aren't too many of us who post regularly.
@keeksie84 Haha I can totally see that happening!! @kmalls Awww congrats on the normal results! When did you go for your test? I feel like that was quick!
Disregard but I don't know how to delete post...I was asking a random question about uterus, but did further investigation and am rolling my eyes at myself.
@saralee797-2 I did the blood draw last Monday, so this was definitely a quick turnaround. Last time we had to wait two full weeks. When I saw the OB's caller ID I thought they were calling to confirm my appointment for Friday. This was so much better
@kmalls ahhhh I went last Tuesday and I have been stalking my portal to see when the results were added. I considered calling the office to see if they were there but not posted but have been forcing myself to wait so I don't look like a crazy lady. You are so lucky!!
Re: Weekly randoms 9/18
@lund those burritos sound EFFING AMAZING!!!!
@sparklingdiamond I hope your DS is feeling okay!
@riversdoctor we are in the same boat. I see the NP on the 25th, maybe I will see a doctor next month?
My random I have gotten to the point of needing a pillow between my legs to be comfy while I sleep and I really need to do laundry.
I have really been on a potato kick lately....hashbrowns, tater tots, baked potatoes. It's some of the few things that I know my stomach will be ok with.
