My husband I are both fairly opinionated and have already struggled with reaching an agreement on dog names in the past (our current guy kept his name from his foster home because he was 18 months when we adopted him and answered to Albert already, which suits him perfectly) so I proposed that since I had multiple girl names I loved, and no boy names that I was attached to that if we were having a girl I would be the total name boss and vice versa for a boy. I had it narrowed down to Gemma, Vera, or Vivien. But it's a boy! my husband is one of the most decisive people I have ever met, and is set on Romeo. it is going to be a whole lot of syllables, Romeo Lawrence (his late dad's name) Ruggiero. it is not the name I would pick but it doesn't qualify for an "I hate it " veto, and it is starting to really grow on me. We both really love Shakespeare, and my husband was set on a traditional Italian name, so there it is. I also think it has a ring to it with my husband's own old world, uncommon in the US, name. He is Flavian, after his grandfather. Our next dog will be a girl, and named Viva, which was the only one of my names he vetoed.

With that family name history and his father's name it sounds like a perfect fit!
Naming babies and dogs is a true test to our marriage. It took 35 weeks to name our first, a month to name our first dog and two weeks to name our new pup. DH is ridiculously indecisive and picky. I like old, classic names and he...who knows what he likes because he never agrees on anything. This kid probably won't be named until s/he is almost here
We found out we're having a girl. We've had the name Emma Elizabeth picked out for years but may be choosing a different middle name! We haven't really decided yet and there's plenty of time lol
@Everycol0r same with us! We've had a girl name picked and pretty much decided on with both pregnancies now and boy number 2 it is... no name ideas yet lol!!! Good thing there's lots of time!
I think part of my problem is...with the Italian names I like...I happen to know someone with the name and I don't like that person...or I just don't find the name cute because it's a "grandpa" name in Italy (popular in 1930s/40s) LOL
Funny that you mention Maximo! I thought we decided on Massimo, but hubby isn't convinced. And so it continues...many months to go...but I bet we'll circle back to Massimo by baby's birth. Wish this was simple. Hah

I think we finally picked a name. H hasn't completely confirmed, but I am pretty sure this is it. Samantha Rose. We are keeping with the tradition of naming after a family member and I feel better about giving her an established name. My daughter's name is Natalie and that name is established and strong to me. I felt kind of weird naming this girl something that was a little more cutesy, even though I loved the options. I feel this name is fitting.
I do have to say that it's kind of shocking to me to look back at what I pictured myself naming my children and what I have actually named them. I love all their names, but never in a million years would I have ever guessed that my kids would oneday have the names they do.

That would be fun. I use to pick names based on what their nickname would be. Probably bc I hate my name and my nickname (which is necessary bc my name is hard to pronounce). I guess when I was young it never dawned on me to name my kids something normal and then you don't need a nickname.
@DDRRT1982 I think high school/college me wanted to pick names that would be super mysterious and cool. A lot of names that would realistically be a real PITA for a real human to deal with.

That's a sweet NN, I might steal it. I hate the NN Cici for my daughter and that's my biggest qualm about using the name.
DH and I are having such a hard time agreeing on a boy name. We had a girl name all picked out and we both in complete agreement and then the NIPT came back "boy". Out of the thousand or so names we've gone over, we can only agree on these 3: Wyatt, Nolan, or Connor. Which do you guys like best?
We found out about a week and a half ago that we are having a boy, and we have his middle name figured out but not his first. His middle name is going to be Parks, after my father-in-law who passed away suddenly last year. For his first name I'm really liking Asher or Davis. DH is pretty opinionated about names so I'm sure he won't agree, but those are my top two at the moment DD is Avery Katherine.
