@suchaglencoco we spend so much time not wanting AF to show up that it's weird when we DO want it to show up!
@Avrilmai wow! How horrible!! This is not about her! She's lucky you even told her!
@Avrilmai welcome! And I actually just got a call from a nurse to let me know they don't have power & to come in on Wednesday. (I hope they have power by then). The poor thing was calling from her house! I thought it was so nice of her to do that!
@JuneRoseRuby, I've known I have had this for almost 3 years now and I STILL think that when read MTHFR. In fact, I'm pretty sure I told DH right after find out that "clearly, I am a bad ass mother f-er!"
@purplg8r exactly. AF is definitely confused and is not coming just to spite me.
@BusinessWife Yay! I think its a good call to do another cycle, just in case. You got a lot of good answer about taking bc before a cycle but I just wanted to chime in that I took bc for at least two weeks before my stim cycles. I was told it suppresses the ovaries so when you start to stimulate them all the follicles can grow around the same speed. Something like that.
Diagnosis (If you've been): DOR
Cycle/CD: N/A
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): prepping for DE-IVF
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) currently on bcp while my donor completes her screening
How are things going? It's getting exciting. My donor is scheduled for her screening on Sept 22 and then we wait for those results to come back. If she is cleared she will go on bcp for a couple of weeks while we finalize legal stuff and then start the stim cycle. We are still anticipating ER and transfer in November. FX!
Any questions?

**lurking here** @suchaglencoco, I know you've gotten some great advice so far about MTHFR, but I'll chime in too. I have two copies of the less serious mutation (forgetting the nucleotide position off the top of my head, but it's in my siggy). Did the doc tell you if you have one copy (heterozygous) or two copies (homozygous) or one of each (compound heterozygous)? The different versions have different abilities to process folic acid into folate. For example, in mine I have around half the normal function. Some doctors will advise to load up on folic acid to make up for it, but there is some evidence that folic acid can bind to the MTHFR protein and inhibit it if it is in vast excess. I've switched over to the Smarty Pants vitamins, and I'm trying to avoid eating too many fortified foods (flour is federally mandated to be enriched with folic acid, so anything other than whole wheat). Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions about it!

AFM:
Diagnosis: DOR, AMA
Cycle/CD: 24 (18AL)/CD25
Status: WFAF (13DPO)
What are you doing: Right now I'm reminding myself that a BFN on 13DPO is pretty final, even when the only sign of AF is cramps.
How is it going: Not well. Even though I've felt out all cycle, my stupid mind still keeps dwelling on the fact that AF hasn't arrived.
On the plus side, I started taking my progesterone pills as suppositories since last cycle's LP was shorter than I'd like, and here I am on 13DPO with nary a spot in sight. It's the small victories, I guess. Also, OH thinks it's sexy when I shove that pill up in there...he's kinda weird, LOL, but I'm glad it works for him.
And it turns out that Trader Joe's Garlic Dip with tortilla chips is balm for my bruised soul. Sorry not sorry, coworkers. Any questions: Nope

I am seriously behind already this week and need to catch up, but I just stopped in to say that @Aurora1973, you just made a trip to TJ's on my way home a mandatory stop. How have I not seen this before!?!?
@icecubeinthedesert, thank you so much for that info!!! My RE has only mentioned the homozygous aspect, so I'm guessing just that? My last RE seemed more on the "not 100% sure if this affects fertility" camp so she just put me on baby aspirin and folic acid just in case. So we didn't discuss it too much after that and we looked up the symptoms at home and found I ticked off a lot of them. Once I started the pills, we started seeing a difference in my fatigue and a few other things, so I figured I was good to go, haha.
Ok I need someone to tell me it's ok that most of my follicles are 6mm and they already put me on cetrotide to prevent ovulation because one is 12mm...I'm so fearful they won't catch up and I can't do another IVF cycle. Last cycles they put me on cetrotide but they were all around 11 or 12
@leekat14. Not an expert, but I think the main this is to keep the biggest one (s) from going off. So whether it's 1 that's bigfer than the rest or 6 all equally bigger than the rest, either way, the smaller ones still keep coming up... (((hugs))) I know this is so stressful. I hope some ither ladies with more experience will chime in too!!! Have you jumped in on the Sept IVF thread yet???
@Aurora1973 I have a trader joes about 30 mins from me but I've only been once (and dying to go again!). This is totally going on my list. Besides this & cookie butter, what else do I need to add?
@purplg8r I would add sesame almonds, chimichurri rice (frozen section) dried any fruit, frozen brown rice omg there are so many things I'm forgetting!!!!
@leekat14. Not an expert, but I think the main this is to keep the biggest one (s) from going off. I haven't gone on the IF board yet...too many spots to keep up with on mobile. I'm hoping these little ones do something because even if they double they are really going to big that big and the cetrotide slows everything down.
@leekat14 FWIW I think it's okay! I was put on Cetrotide one cycle, and it was before any of my follies were over 12 mm. My follies still grew. Do you know what your E2 level is? They may have put you on Cetrotide if your E2 is climbing, and if it is, that's a good sign for those smaller follies and that they're trying to develop. The Cetrotide will give them a chance to catch up. I am sending you all the follie growth thoughts.
@leekat14 I was put on ganirelix same as cetrotide on day 3 or 4. It is just to prevent ovulation. It doesn't slow growth or speed up any process just stalls actual ovulation. Also, I didn't join the IVF page either. It seemed so overwhelming to me!
AFM: today is CD1. I am having a sad two days. I know I should be excited that I am heading into my IUI donor cycle, but yesterday I heard the song that my dad sang to me all while I grew up and we danced to at my wedding, then a coworker felt the need to call me and ask specifics about how many sperm/eggs we got, if I was pregnant, and let me know how all my other coworkers are asking about me and my fertility issues behind my back, so she directed them all to ask me specifically. Awesome. I think it is just the shitty combo of that, and crashing hormones for AF.

@JuneRoseRuby Hugs. That's certainly enough stuff to make you feel sad. Hopefully things are taking a turn soon. I wish I could chase of your coworkers with a stick for you.
@JuneRoseRuby ugh. That's a lot. And hard. I'm sorry.
AFM so when I showed up up for my bloodwork, they didn't have any note of my appt being moved to today or even that I had one yesterday. Luckily the lab tech finally found it some notes. But it ended up taking 30 mins. Normally I'd be rushing to get to school to teach just in time and if would have been way late today (except school's cancelled because of the hurricane ). I also bled quite a bit more today after the draw. I have my hemotologic appt later this afternoon.
@juneroseruby I'm sorry for CD1. It's hard when people start asking questions and if you're at all like me you kept nearly everyone in the dark. Actually saying things out loud and answering questions makes me really emotional. Just like the IF board, it becomes too real!
@madspunk that's helpful...I'm just stressed all around for the cycle.
AFM I'm headed to my follicle check and the car is packed for Boston ready to initiate plan A-D depending on what they say today. Meds are in a cooler and I think I packed the house!
@purplg8r Buy all the things! TBH, there is very little I've tried from TJ's that wasn't pretty amazing...the only duds for me are things that turn out to be too spicy. My favorite thing to get there, because I'm a dark chocolate lover and buy stacks from them (they have a great selection!) is this:
I also love their liquid Stevia, although I've given it up since allegedly people in another country have used Stevia as birth control (the specific country is escaping me). There isn't a lot out there that points to issues with it, but I tended to use a lot, so I gave it up just to be safe...
@leekat14 GL on the follie check. Hope you get to enjoy every minute of Boston!!!
AFM, another BFN this morning, even though still no sign of AF besides mild cramps. If I get through today, this will be my longest LP since TTC (*TW* with the exception of my CP cycle end *TW*), so that's a win. Because I'm absolutely BSC, I'll be grabbing some Dollar Store HPTs on the way home tonight, just to make sure I don't have a bad batch of Wondfos. Unless AF shows before then, which is not only possible, but likely. I'm really happy that using my progesterone pills as suppositories has been successful, but seriously...what a mindfuck...

@leekat14 yes, I have only told two of my close friends and I am sure I know which one told other people through not telling them if you know what I mean. Like "oh you should talk to her about it" Instead of saying, I don't know whats going on. So another coworker came up to me today, whom I haven't told anything to, and she felt the need to tell me about a research article she read that helped someone's husband and maybe it could help mine. So fuck you world.

@Aurora1973 ooh!! Those are going on the list too! Ugh! I'm sorry you're still getting BFNs but no AF. That is a mindfuck!!
more AFM: just got 2 of the results back from this morning. After starting medication, my thyroid went from 2.7 to 2.9 which is the wrong way!! Tthey're doubling my dosage. And I asked about my progesterone level and it was a 5! She said it did indicate ovulation. I said "isn't that low?" And she said yeah and that they would add progesterone support once we start treatment of an IUI or TI. Ugh. I don't want to wait that long!! And I guess that means I'm out this cycle. Sigh
@JuneRoseRuby I am so sorry that everyone is acting like such an ass right now. People are absolutely ridiculous. Hugs lady.
Sorry you had to make your way over here @Avrilmai, and I hope you get some answers and a plan soon.
@safire3 Glad to hear that you guys weren't affected too badly by the storm, and hoping your clinic reopens soon!AFM, Negative beta yesterday and CD1 today, so that is fantastic. Yesterday I may have had a little bit of a meltdown because apparently my Dr. is suggesting we forgo our third IUI and move straight to IVF instead. Needless to say, I was not expecting that. I had a chance to calm down a bit and talk things over with DH, and we have decided to take this cycle off from treatment (since we are going to be traveling for a couple days in early October and things were going to be a little tricky anyway) and then start IVF in the following cycle. We have a phone consult with out Dr. on Monday to talk a little bit more about why she felt is was best to make the jump to IVF and get a better idea of what we are going to be in for. Currently, I am absolutely terrified, and I feel pretty defeated, but here is to hoping this is for the best. TLDR: Another failed IUI, starting IVF in October, scared sh*tless.
@Aurora1973 sorry about the bfn, it seems no matter where we are in this journey there is a little piece of us that still holds out hope for that test to turn.
@purplg8r glad to hear you have been responding to the treatments.
@leekat14 Enjoy your trip! hope the count went well.

@Pinky917 I'm so sorry, girl. Take some time, process everything, enjoy your time off from treatments and then just get ready to kick ass once you get back into it. I would also be curious as to why your doc would like to move straight to IVF. Maybe talking to her will make you feel a bit more confident in this decision. We're all here for support
@purplg8r How many DPO are you at this point again? 8-9ish? I know my doc has had me start using my suppositories at 5DPO so I'm not sure if it'd be pointless at this point to try? Can you call and ask about suppositories for this cycle? I'd imagine that it couldn't hurt!

What are you doing this cycle: 2 of 3 months trying by ourselves.
How's it going: I feel like we are wasting time, honestly.
Any questions: Not at the moment
GTKY: I LOVE fall weather. It is already starting to cool down just a bit here, which has been so nice.
@suchaglencoco, I know you've gotten some great advice so far about MTHFR, but I'll chime in too.

@Redpuma119 it's so frustrating when you think you're doing something that's a waste of time. Fx that it's not.
AFM, we got H's genetic screening results back and he's not a carrier for anything. I'm so relieved!
@adirat I'm hyperventilating with you. That's so exciting!!
@50wife Yay for great progesterone!!!
@JuneRoseRuby I just have to add to the chorus:
@safire Wow, what an adventure your embabies have already been on!!
@Avrilmai Welcome to the club no one wants to join. We're happy to have you but sad you find yourself here. I hope you get answers very soon.
@laurad75 I hope your donor passes all the screenings with flying colors!
GTKY: I'm definitely a spring girl. I love when it's still cool but not frigid, and everything coming back to life.

@Aurora1973 Sorry girl.

@JuneRoseRuby ugh. That's a lot. And hard. I'm sorry.

Sigh
