TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility and it becomes a whole new ball game. That alone is crazy.  Still hoping to have a conversation with my doctor about converting to another retrieval cycle.  I have to call with CD1 and go in for baselines CD3, but I would love to be able to just go right into stimming and not have to start BCPs first....  otherwise it would be BCPs while we wait for polypectomy, then move onto FET.  So we'll see what she has to say about the idea of repeating/banking first.
 
</div><div><b>How are things going?</b>  Okay, just stressed about trying to get the treatment plan changed last minute.  Plus, the little dog was diagnosed at the emergency vet with back pain, so I'm having to crate him, and keep him on strict rest for 3 weeks, so that is hard + sad.</div>
<b>Any questions?</b>  Has anyone had to take BCPs prior to starting an ivf cycle?  Why/for how long? I am a little weirded out by having to take an extra pill while we wait, just for PAPERWORK to process.  That just seems so stupid to me and I am resisting the idea. :/

<span><b>GTKY: What is your favorite season and why?</b>  SPRING!  I just love leaving coats behind as the weather starts to warm up, seeing the little sprouts of crocuses and things start to come up, the perfume of lilacs and flowers in the air when things are in full bloom.  It's wonderful!

Things are going good, I go in for my progesterone BW tomorrow and I tested out my trigger this morning to make sure it's gone before I start testing. Going to hold off as long as I can.

GTKY: What is your favorite season and why? Fall!!!  The weather, the decorations, Halloween, pumpkin patches, the smells (I live the spicey smells - cinnamon, nutmeg).  ALL of it!!!  I am loving life right now.

How are things going? Well my egg retrieval is screwing up my Boston vacation....now it could be Saturday with a monitoring appointment Friday.  Ugh....But, I have 6 follicles...5 are around 6mm and one is 12mm. Hopefully the others catch up!

Any questions? anyone have clinic recommendations in Boston? I could do my BW and ultrasound there...

GTKY: What is your favorite season and why? This is tough because I love fall AND winter. But fall is the winner because there is less stress, the weather is still decent, the sun comes out.  I love the leaves changing and the fall decor.  An excuse for warm drinks and yummy comfort foods.

@businesswife I know what you mean about BCP, seems totally counter-intuitive. Sorry I don't have any hints why as right from the start they told me no BCP or anything to down reg as they're worried about switching my system off and then it never gets started again...

Status day 2 of Stims! First monitoring on Friday, hoping for ER sometime Mon-Fri the following week depending on response

What are you doing this cycle - first round of IVF, with fresh transfer if possible - but lots of forks in the road to navigate before then...

How are things going? So far so good, well first injection was smooth and no side effects so far. I guess we will only know on Friday - which also happens to be my birthday! Just the day to go for a 7am US and BW lol

Any questions - not for today, so long as I remember to breathe I'm coping ok

GTKY: oooh that's a tough one... I love snow but being cold, I love Spring but not the crazy rain, I love summer but not the wasps, soooo autumn I guess - still a bit of rain, but also still warm right now, and starting to put the fire on in the evenings (except when I try to smoke the house out), plus leaves turning all colors (and we have a leaf vacuum this year so no hours of collecting leaves by hand!) Ok - I'm going with autumn!!!

How are things going? Great! I am loving the fall weather. Finally got things sorted with transcripts so I should be starting pre-nursing classes next semester. I'm feeling hopeful that this surgery will provide us with some answers.

How are things going? Meh. Beta test is tomorrow, but I am honestly not feeling too optimistic about it. I opted to just take the day off from work tomorrow so that I could have so I could some time to myself while I wait for the results, and this way I can also do a little something to take car of myself depending on how things go.

GTKY: What is your favorite season and why? Summer! It rains way too much where I live, so it's nice to finally get a little break from all the grey skies. Also I love floating the river, going to the beach, and sitting out on patios drinking margaritas! Bonus- My commute time is cut in half over the Summer, and saves me 5+ hours of driving every week!

How are things going?  I'm supposed to have a repeat thyroid & vitamin D test along with my first progesterone test.  But it's first thing in the morning and I have no idea if it will be open.  It's 30 mins away so I can't decide if I should just show up and hope for the best or sleep in (since school is still cancelled) and call to see if I can go in when I get up.  On Wednesday I have my hemotologic appt so no idea what to expect.  this is the first cycle where I haven't been SS after O.  The hurricane has kept me so preoccupied and stressed that Ive given up hope for this cycle.  

Any questions? My RE doesn't have a portal and says they only give results at consults (but my consult isn't until Ict 10th) so I'm hoping to convince them to call with results.  But at 7 dpo, what should I be hoping from my progesterone test?

GTKY: What is your favorite season and why? Football season. That doesn't count?  Then summer because there's no school!

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA):  Waiting for af so I can start BCP

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): The plan is to complete our fet.

 

How are things going?: They're not. I hate "begging" for af to show up.

Any questions?: Has anyone been tested and found to have the MTHFR mutation? I got tested (*tw*) after our first loss and they found I have it. My RE at the time put me on otc vitamins that were inexpensive. This new RE I'm working with is making take as expensive rx, plus expensive otc meds, plus expensive af prenatals. DH and I didn't realize how much it would all cost so we didn't question it too much, but now we definitely are.

GTKY: What is your favorite season and why?: I really love fall! Seeing the trees change, the cooler weather, the jeans and hoodie look, the decor. I wait all summer for it. Winter is a close second because I love to see the land covered in fresh snow. And I'm a sicker for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

@BusinessWife, we have/will be using bcp for all 3 of our transfers. My RE explained before that it helps keep the body in a certain stage so we can work with it easier. Our last fet I needed a surgery to clean out my uterus before we could continue and I stayed on bcp during and after the surgery a bit to keep my body on pause. If our saline test shows issues this time, we will do the same thing.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) ER was this cycle. IUI with Donor Sperm next cycle
 

How are things going? We told my MIL this weekend about the results of the ER and that we are only moving forward with donor.  We never told her about the donor until yesterday because we had hoped we wouldn't need to use it. It went so much worse than I could have expected.  She's  a ridiculous person.  She turned it all around on her and how all of these things in life happen to her and her life is hard and terrible... Then she told me about a friend that went to Russia and got donor eggs and it broke up her marriage and the husband reminded the wife all of the time that the child wasn't even hers and how we will need counseling and that we are going to break up and that I can't steal the baby and it will be half of my husbands.... We left her house pretty soon after that.

Diagnosis (If you've been): no diagnosis yet, started testing. I did an HSG and DH did his SA, both were "fine"

Cycle/CD: 12/ CD 8

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA):  WTO

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): well, it appears nothing this cycle. I was poking around my pt portal a while back and saw mention of Clomid as the possible next step. they were waiting on DH's SA results before doing anything else, but we've gotten those results and still no communication from the Dr. I know I need to reach out. I'm also starting a new job/will have new benefits next week, so there may be some waiting due to the transition. 
 

How are things going? okay, it seems I can't escape baby talk and people constantly asking us about kids. someone made an "enjoy the sleep now/just wait until you have kids" comment and DH said something like, yeah if we ever get to that point. made me a little sad. I'm holding on to the hope that I am a special snowflake and was reluctant to post here, but i'm missing the sense of community and the dailies have gotten hard for me. 

Any questions? none today. I've been reading past threads about Clomid use/side effects etc. 

GTKY: What is your favorite season and why?
I really like fall, mostly because I am most comfortable in a pair of jeans and a light sweater. We don't have much in the way of "seasons" in my neck of the woods so I'll take whatever "fall" type of weather I can get. I also really love the familial sense of fall and holidays like Thanksgiving, people are generally nicer and I like getting together with family despite some of the drama that comes with getting large groups of people together.

How are things going? Good. I took last week off TB just for mental health and that was good. AF came and my dr did offer to start injectables but I don't feel the cons of injectables (cost, risk of over-stimming and having to cancel or convert to IVF- which my insurance will NOT cover etc...) outweighed the pros (increased likelihood of success, but only to like 13% chance), so I am gonna do one more IUI this cycle, and if it doesn't work, just do 2 medicated TI cycles to get to my required 6 cycles and then move on to IVF. I am really hoping Hurricane Jose does not mess up doing an IUI this cycle...its projected to maybe be up where I am Wednesday (aka the most likely day we will be doing IUI)

@BusinessWife YAY I a so excited for you! My clinic does BCP because a) they usually have to wait for auth and b) studies have shown there is an increased success rate post BCP use, they think because it equilibrates your hormones blasi-blah. I think if you don't have to, great!, But if auth doesn't come in time and you have to, you usually only have to do 10-14 days (but you can do more, but don't 'have' to for the hormone sake, again only what my Dr has said) so its at least a shorter period to waiting to re-start than the length of a whole cycle.

@suchaglencoco I'm compound heterozygous MTHFR and take Smarty Pants prenatals.  They are about $20 for 20 or so days.  I was never pushed to take an RX.  I also take Methylfolate I buy on amazon for about $15 for 22 days and Methyl B-12 for $6 which lasts 3 months.

@kiwi2628 I definitely understand you not wanting to move forward with injectables, and would do the same thing if I were you. If you're having a good response to the clomid(? - or is it femara?) than I agree that injectables come with a lot more hassle.

@BusinessWife I did bcp for about 3 weeks before my ivf cycle. They said is was to suppress/quiet everything before the stims. Happy you are going to start again right away tho!

@purplg8r Hope you and your family were ok after th storm. I'm trying to remember but I think  the progesterone level is to make sure you ovulate. My clinic wanted it over 10.  

@suchaglencoco sorry you are still waiting for AF. Maybe you can ask your RE or nurse if your old vitamins are just as good? It's probably just the brands they work with but you just need folic acid in form you can absorb and I'm sure there are cheaper options. 

@JuneRoseRuby Wow. I am sorry you had to go through that. That is just ridiculous. You guys need to let her know that at the end of the day it only matters how you and your H feel about it.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?)IVF, awaiting AF to schedule FET and we have 5 day one embies on ice!
 

How are things going? Good. I'm actually getting to post on a Monday today because we are off after hurricane Irma. We are fine and had minimal water damage. I spent most of the weekend (when I still had wifi and power) googling embies frozen on day one. It looks like the stats are similar to a fresh transfer. I'm anxious to talk to the RE though to see what the next step will be. I feel like since we don't know if they would have made it to day 5 or even day 2 we may need to transfer more than one to up our odds. We previously discussed only transferring one at a time. At this point I don't even know when my clinic will reopen.

GTKY: What is your favorite season and why? I'm a Caribbean baby and now I live in Florida so I don't see seasons change very often but I think I would like spring the best just for the flowers.

All -- does anyone know if there is a generic for Estrace? I checked and it'll be quite expensive which seems nuts since it's just estrogen right? Also did anyone here go through Freedom pharmacy for ivf meds?

@adirat I did freedom pharmacy for some of my meds. They were the cheapest among the options I was given and they have excellent customer service. To be honest I got the bulk of my most expensive meds (stims) from IVFmeds.com which sources meds from European pharmacies. I did a lot of research on them first and saw only good reviews and honestly for the same price I could have flown to the U.K. To pick them up in person and still saved money over the US prices. The only down side was you can get them in 3-7 business day so you have to order early and you have to pay with MasterCard (or money order I think? I have a MasterCard so I used that). I probably also wouldn't order meds that need refrigeration just because it's coming from so far away. My meds were all in powder form so it was fine. Oh and also I have heard that some clinics will not allow you to use meds from outside the US but mine had no issue with it. The meds are the same brand name from the same manufacturer as here.

@adirat Estradiol is a generic for Estrace.  I was able to get a 30 day supply (90 pills) for $10 with insurance.

@juneroseruby I am so sorry about that whole scene. You're a nicer woman than I am. I would have explained to her that she can either be fully supportive or not be around for future grandchildren. What a crock.

@beary67, thank you. I have homozygous. They have me on smarty pants, methyl balance, and a folgard rx. I am to remain on my baby aspirin and no longer take folic acid. 

It could be something newer as we got this protocol 2.5 years ago.

@safire3, we plan to ask the RE the next time we see her. Unfortunately, the whole staff of nurses is new and I don't fully trust any of them yet. 

Is anyone doing estrace via injection?  Our last protocol we used suppositories, but were told the protocol has changed and I was given the option to do either. I chose injections, but now I am double guessing myself.

@adirat Same as the others have said...estridol was super cheap for me and I used freedom for almost all my meds.  They were a lot easier to work with than some of the other places.

@adirat so excited for you!!!  I went through CVS Caremark/specialty for most of it, and Schrafts 2.0 for my low-dose HCG.  I agree, estrace should be cheap.

Thanks to everyone weighing in on BCPs! @emmasemm @safire3  Like @suchaglencoco they were planning on stressing Mr on the prior to transfer so they could do the polypectomy, but I have heard mixed things about doing them prior to stimming.  The nurse made it sound like it was nbd, and like you said @kiwi2628 can maybe save a few weeks that way if you have to stay in a holding pattern.  I just feel like it's one more thing, ya know?  And with a clinical reason for it, sure!  But If the only reason is waiting for paperwork to process.... ugh.  Here's hoping it all goes though quickly!  Cos I have a feeling CD1 is close.

@suchaglencoco so excited for your FET cycle!!! I will send all the AF vibes your way, too!!! ;)  I am pretty sure my estrace will just be oral pills...

ETA not entirely sure, but I think as long as it's above 10, it's not considered "low." This link says 10-20, and I saw somewhere ideally they want to see over 15, but don't quote me on that.

@BusinessWife so sorry about the pup. We went through that too.  We lived on a third floor apartment at the time too and we needed to carry her up and down every time she needed to go to the bathroom.  Quite the workout. I am glad you got the OK to do another ER round! Did they talk about changing your protocol at all? Stimming you on less meds for longer to try and get more mature eggs? I know that is what my doc said he would have done if we did a second ER.

Thanks all for the comments about my MIL. This was why we waited to tell her until we HAD to. I knew she would turn it into something about her but telling me I needed counseling and I would run away with the baby was too far. I know she is a narcissist so I let her have her moment and bit my tongue but she was going to get her head bit off if she said one more thing. Now that she got it all out, she doesn't have any more wiggle room for offending me.

@JuneRoseRuby isn't that funny?  I feel like ivf is so subjective.  My doctor is planning to start me a little <i>higher</i> actually!  Same meds, but increase the Follistim to 450 at the start.  She said we can always dial back as we go, but I only started at 300 at first, then the last three days (out of 10, I think) we went up to 375, 450, 450.  So we'll see what happens!

And my meds are coming Thursday!!!  Wha what whhhaaaa

@JuneRoseRuby wow, that is unbelievable. I'm glad you didn't have to spend much time there and I'm sorry you had to experience that in the first place.

@madspunk I have not done any BW yet. When I called they were focused on the HSG and the SA.  I'm working with my OBs office right now. They are taking this step by step it seems. I appreciate that they are being thorough (requiring the SA before moving forward with meds, etc.) I just sent a message inquiring about BW and next steps. (Thanks for that reminder) 

@kiwi2628 sounds like you made a well reasoned decision. FX you can do the IUI with no hurricane interruptions. 

@safire3 so glad you're safe and sound & they were able to freeze your embabies before the hurricane showed. Sounds like your research put your mind at ease a bit. Hope your doc can provide some clarity on number to transfer.
