@dragonette505: You know, no one really knows what happened, but probably a definite fluke and not common at all. The one thing that I might do differently if I were to do it again is to not take baby aspirin during the cycle. While that didn't cause it to happen, it probably didn't help in that the bleeding didn't clot as fast. I had recently completed my first transfer cycle, and had been on Lovenox and BA for my immune and thombro issues, and my clinic told me to continue the BA during my retrieval cycle since BCP is part of the protocol. And yes, I'm far too emotional right now to make any decisions about the future, so my DH and I agreed to just take time away from IVF and discuss again in a month or so. Wouldn't that be something if any of my embies made it?? Stranger things have happened I guess!
Me: 41; DH: 45 Both married for the first time in our 40s; went straight to IVF after multiple fibroid surgeries (2/17) ER: #1: agonist/antagonist protocol: 19 eggs; 8 mature; 13 fertilized; 1 7-day blast (6BA = abnormal/non-viable) (4/17) ER: #2: same protocol but stimmed an extra 2 days: 16 eggs; 10 mature (5 more matured in lab); 13 fertilized; 2 6-day blasts (5AA & 6BA) & 2 7-day blasts (6BA & 5BB): only 1 Day 6 6BA tested normal! FET on 7/10/17 Beta on 7/21/17: Negative:( (8/17) ER #3: 9 eggs; 6 mature; 3 fertilized; 1 7-day blast (6BA = abnormal/non-viable) Developed severe complications (abdominal bleeding) following egg retrieval which required hospitalization, transfusion & emergency surgery. Done with IVF.
@tnh0413 Hopefully we will be able to do FET with my next cycle so I'm thinking later this month or next month. They just told me to report to the clinic on CD2.
@dragonette505 17!! That's awesome! FX for an excellent report tomorrow and enjoy your trip!
@dragonette505 happy dance!!! whoah who has got the ovaries of a girl in her 20's u go girl!!! So awesome!! So interesting everyone gets a mature report, I just get the fert report and if one didn't take maybe its because its not mature...so interesting. Probably cause I don't make as many....Over the moon for you so enjoy your well deserved rest!!! Are you testing this round? And as for DH I get that you feel bad BUT we can never say its always our fault. My OH has kids and I still dont think its all me...now that some samples have been recorded he isn't a champion every time.
@tinjp78 HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! sounds like you had a nice day, hoping you will have a better year ahead! I know its so disappointing not to have the other 2 come through, hoping this is your golden egg!!!
@helloworld9 I'm excited to hear when an US is coming our way
@BusinessWife Are you think of doing another cycle before transfer? I'm like your DH i'm very sad of the ones that don't make it - dont get me started with the ones that test abnormal as its still not 100% accurate
Momifbysea sorry about the cysts but glad you have the month to do some good for yourself! I always say its up to my body to decide whats what.
@JaeJayStark whoah 5dpt how exciting is that! Praying that line gets darker each day...congrats! when is beta?
angelbea so glad to hear a good update for you!! Praying this is your golden batch!
safire3 glad to here things are going well, just scary mother nature is playing such a roll in your cycle! Hoping mother nature will cooperate and you'll be ready to go next month!
AFM: So I worked sooooo late that I was late to my monitoring this am and my blood work won't come through till tomorrow...lets hope its on point at my lining is at an 8 woohoo...apparently I hear over a 7 is where they want you to be...so hoping things continue moving in the right direction and looks like next friday will be baby transfer day

@JaeJayStark. Wow! Congratulations! How exciting is that!?!?! I hope you have a nice chat with the therapist. That sounds like a great way to take care of yourself. ❤
@dragonette505. Yes!!! Can I put 17 exclamation points!?!! Congratulations on 17 eggs! That is awesome. I can't wait to hear how the next few reports go. I love the idea of the option for day 3 freezing too. I can't help but wonder a little bit if that might have helped any of the ones that we lost. :/
@safire3 here's hoping your five precious little starts will be just fine and stay nice and safe through the storm. How exciting for you to get back to fet very soon! Stay safe please ❤
@Hopeful_mom yeah, I am thinking about it... one thing that gives me pause is that DH and I have a deal we want to go back and transfer all. So as long as the next cycle isn't wildly different from this one, we should be okay. But you just exactly hit on part of why we didn't do pgs. DH definitely feels weird about tinkering with them, and I know there could be limitations to the testing - we're only human right? So I do feel good about the idea of just transferring them and letting nature take its course, hoping for the best. So who knows. It's also setting yourself up potentially for that much more heartache? Maybe, right?
I got interrupted and now I dont remember where I was going with that.... lol
@angelbea hmmmm yeah, the blood thinner might have impacted you for sure. I think when they do any more treatments, they will be aware and know what to look for. I feel like after each bout of ohss I kind of felt gun shy about new cycles because felt so bad. I can't imagine how scary that was for you! @safire3 thank you!! @Hopeful_mom I wish!!! I hope there are some decent eggs in the bunch also, yay for that nice lining!!!
Hopeful_mom My Beta is on 9/12. I have such a ways to go. Weehoo, you are getting so close to transfer!
Malibu45 WOW! Congrats! So very exciting. Is the sonogram like an ultrasound? What's different?

I think about 5 going on 6. I'm surprised they do it that early actually ..my OB/GYN doesn't want people to come in for their first sonogram till 6-8 weeks.

@BusinessWife I've never heard of day 3 freezing before. It might be because I've had so many poop out after day 3. But the worst part is I have very high rated embies not make it after day 3 so honestly they are not gonna be able to tell. Just to give an idea of how things usually go for me: my last two cycles I had no less than 6 embies of the highest ratings (1 in the case of this lab) and you can see what happens after day 3
@Malibu45@JaeJayStark were your first pregnancies ivf? Most ivf clinics will do us by week 5 and up to 7 if you graduate from the clinic then or week 10 if they keep you till then. Because ivf has a higher percentage of ectopic pregnancies, they check early to make sure the pregnancy is located in the uterus... at least that's what the clinics I've gone to have said.
No my first pregnancy was IUI and it actually was pretty high up. Maybe I will have an earlier one this time. Although, my friend just got preggers at my clinic and they wanted her at 7 weeks too so she pushed for 6. Who knows.

@dragonette505 wow, I've never seen such a detailed report before. But I guess it seems like you start off with so many! How many have you had make it to freeze?
I am unsure what to think about ours based on the grading report she gave me. First she says I have three amazing quality embryos!!! Then when I asked more about what they meant, saying I would look that stuff up again, she said Embriology had just sent out a report saying blast grading doesn't have a meaningful correlation with pregnancy outcomes. :/ but when I look into it, the internet seems to think 4BB is maybe borderline? Why is the telling me we have three all great looking blasts if the one really might not be???
@BusinessWife that's because I am a big nerd and took the info and made mini spreadsheets of my embryo progression (craaaay!) I had over all 4 to freeze on that first cycle (2 day 5 and 2 day 6) and 1 on the last!!! That's why I honestly have to hope for at least 1 i think the reason the interwebs are calling your 4bb "average " is because aa would be excellent or top rated. They will freeze bc 's so you can see how your bb is better than a bc/cb. I've got a 4bb waiting for me and super happy to have it! I also have a 4bc which is still totally capable of making a baby but it's less desirable since the c is for the icm (inner cell mass) which is the cluster of cells that becomes the baby.
Yeah! @dragonette505 the nurse was so enthusiastic! Which is why when I saw the web stuff I was sorta confused. I should probably just trust my nurses, eh? ;) I am still so torn on repeating a cycle. I feel like your first cycle was maybe similar to mine in a way? i mean you got 4 to freeze... you have done any fets either yet, right? What made you decide to repeat?
@BusinessWife we did an FET in march/april and (tw) I got pg and miscarried at 6wks. I wanted to keep cycling at that time but my dh and my doc talked me into the transfer. We transferred the 4ab and the 3ab, so now I'm down to 3 frosties. Because I'm older and less likely to have healthy embies, I need more banked to have a success! The second cycle almost fail could have been due to (a) bad eggs (b) both my dh and I were very sick... he wasn't even sure he'd be able to give a sample and/or (c) my doc has some suspicion that some of my dh's sperm may lack that protein that keeps them going past day three (based on high rated embies arresting after day 3) which is why she recommended picsi (which we did) to see if that helps at all
Second beta done today and numbers went from 188 to 486! Sonogram is next week !!
Yay transfer buddy! I'm jealous though, they won't let me come in until 7 weeks for an ultrasound.

I'm so sorry @dragonette505 yes, I do remember you saying that now, I guess it's hard to remember the details of everyone's stories sometimes. You know I am hoping like crazy for a better outcome with this new doctor!!! When will you get the fert report?
Ha! Are you kidding?? Lol I even forget my OWN deets! Lol no worries! But yeah..., was crazy cause I (tw) also got ku right after my mc, so that's why I was benched at the same time as you, I think. im hoping by adding the HGH and the picsi it helps, but really, who even knows! I'm hoping to gear up for another cycle, and if I'm in good condition and have any embies I'd like to try a fresh transfer
@dragonette505 -fresh transfer yes!!! but all those babies in there u think u would try a day 3...remember our eggs might thrive better inside our womb!
You're grading is confusing me so i'm gonna take a stab at this tomorrow after some sleep and see if it looks like english then
BusinessWife i must've missed the post of the grades ur embabies got. Its sooo tough!! I've had quite a few 5AA and I think one or two of them were normal and quite a few of them were not Its so hard. My embryologist likes to remind me that someone that has cancer can look great on the outside but dying on the inside...gee doc thanks!! Fair quality make healthy babies all the time, try to not read into it too much.
This process is soooo hard and we don't know the right decisions. Some say no testing and i'll just MC, and if you're that strong of a person good for you. My experience was the worst and it has scared me for life. The fact that my first cycle after my MC showed all my blasts to be abnormal showed that I needed to test as much as I didn't want too just for my time constraints alone.
Go with your gut, and hopefully you'll only have happy times ahead of you!

@Hopeful_mom it's so true about those grades and viability. I've seen where girls have fairly low grades (4bc) with fragmentation who were told their embies didn't look good who are now moms of completely healthy children. The grading I've shown of mine is what my clinic used, but I've seen it used by others as well: they use different grading of day three embies than they do of Day 5. the numbers 1-3 mean: 1-best, 2-average, 3-poor (in terms of embies up to day 3). Here are the gradings they use past day 3. Cleavage is when the embryo begins to divide into the different cells which can still be counted (usually more than say 12 cells) morula and compacting are essentially the same stage at different times. By morula stage you really can no longer count the cells and it looks like one big cell again. A compacting morula is when those cells have squeezed closer so you can see the difference between the cells and the zona (the shell the embie hatches from). Bl 1and 2 are early blasts (Bl1 being earlier stage than Bl2). If they progress past that to full blastocyst stage they begin to rate them with the typical 3,4,5 and aa, bb, cc (and other combos of those letters like ab, ac, and etc)
@Hopeful_mom wow, I mean that does sound scary. My doctor didn't necessarily recommend it, but I guess I also sorta felt like we could always test what we end up with after the fact, if need be. :/ is that what you did? Or you just started testing any newly retrieved ones?
You didn't miss anything tho, I just didn't post exactly. But I guess the three grades were pretty good? / essentially meaningless??? Lol. We got a 4BB, 5AB, and 5AA!!!
Update: we are currently in our 2ww and under evacuation. My beta was scheduled for Monday but likely will have to wait now due to the storm. I've taken several tests that were negative the past few days and was getting really disheartened that it did not work due to that and my AF type cramps. Today is my day 6 after transferring two blasts, and this morning I POAS and left it out a little longer than normal (about 45 mins) and got a very faint second line! Hoping this might be the real thing!! Don't want to get my hopes up until I get home from evacuation and can get the blood test - but at least I can possibly stop feeling so negative now - fingers still crossed!!!
@Hopeful_mom - They did do an ultrasound! Saw the sac and fetal pole. My next appointment is Tuesday so I'm hopeful they can see more then. I hope your lining is ready for your transfer!
@tinjp78 - Haha, love that gif! It's hard to find out your 2 embryos didn't make it to freeze. Each step of the wait to see how many will freeze is hard. I'm glad you enjoyed your birthday!
@safire3 - I'm glad your clinic is freezing what they can!
@dragonette505 - Whoa 17! Fantastic! And that's a serious looking table you got there of your embryos. I wish I had something like that to keep track of too.
@Momifbysea - I think taking an extra month to prep your eggs is smart!
@JaeJayStark - OMG that's awesome! It won't be long until beta!
@angelbea - I'm glad you're feeling better and I hope your embryos make it to freeze!
@Malibu45 - Whaaat??? Fantastic numbers!! I guess in my case my clinic did my ultrasound to date the pregnancy since I wasn't being tracked sooner, and it was under 6 weeks. But I'm sure the clinic does it earlier than that. The RE took one look at the ultrasound and he already knew the age of the embryo, how neat is that?
@BusinessWife - I have read that embryo grading doesn't correlate with which will stick. It's so silly then to have it, right? But I'm sure we need something by which to determine which should transfer first.
@southerngirl31 - I hope you stay safe from the storm. Fingers crossed for you! I took a HPT at 13dpo and it was negative... that was before I went on vacation. When I got back, I took it again at 25dpo and it was positive. So who knows, it could take a while!

@helloworld9 thanks, I made that little spreadsheet myself! Lol not all clinics give this level of info. My new clinic doesn't always give Day three.... depends on the batch of embies. @southerngirl31 hope you have gotten out of the way of this monster congrats on the lsp (little skinny positive! Lol) hope it gets darker day by day! @BusinessWife those are great grades! While they don't always correspond with success rates, it is good to know they are growing in an orderly fashion. Statistically more good looking embies make healthy babies than less optimal!
@BusinessWife - That's super high tech! And that's great they do that.
@dragonette505 - That totally makes more sense now. I kept a spreadsheet myself of all my injections.

I got interrupted and now I dont remember where I was going with that.... lol
@safire3 thank you!!
@Hopeful_mom I wish!!! I hope there are some decent eggs in the bunch
also, yay for that nice lining!!!
angelbea OMG what a scary ordeal! I'm so glad you are okay. I am very sorry you had to endure all of that.
helloworld9 Holy cow you are off the charts! Congrats! So excited for you!
BusinessWife Congrats on your lucky number 3 and thank you for the congrats! The therapist was lovely.
dragonette505 17!? What a lovely turn out!
Hopeful_mom My Beta is on 9/12. I have such a ways to go. Weehoo, you are getting so close to transfer!
Malibu45 WOW! Congrats! So very exciting. Is the sonogram like an ultrasound? What's different?

Just to give an idea of how things usually go for me:
my last two cycles I had no less than 6 embies of the highest ratings (1 in the case of this lab) and you can see what happens after day 3

Why is the telling me we have three all great looking blasts if the one really might not be???
i think the reason the interwebs are calling your 4bb "average " is because aa would be excellent or top rated. They will freeze bc 's so you can see how your bb is better than a bc/cb. I've got a 4bb waiting for me and super happy to have it! I also have a 4bc which is still totally capable of making a baby but it's less desirable since the c is for the icm (inner cell mass) which is the cluster of cells that becomes the baby.

im hoping by adding the HGH and the picsi it helps, but really, who even knows! I'm hoping to gear up for another cycle, and if I'm in good condition and have any embies I'd like to try a fresh transfer

@dragonette505 - keeping FX for your fresh transfer too!!!
Transfers for everyone!

IVF#7 June 2017 // EPP praying this is it and then on to an FET!
You didn't miss anything tho, I just didn't post exactly. But I guess the three grades were pretty good? / essentially meaningless??? Lol. We got a 4BB, 5AB, and 5AA!!!

@dragonette505 - That totally makes more sense now. I kept a spreadsheet myself of all my injections.
