@JaeJayStark Helooo! I totally feel you, thats the reason why we didn't tell our family about the whole treatment/transfer lol)
Why two? That was a very very hard decision. I had to fight my husband for it, as he only wanted one (for starters). I personally figured, if we want to have a baby, and then another one right away, why not as well have twins? (If they implant and we are lucky) plus you get a better chance that at least one "sticks". He was more concerned about my pregnancy (Im skinny) and premature delivery. But when he saw what I go through (I made him do the progesterone shots) and he agreed to transfer 2.

How are you feeling after transfer? Are you feeling any symptoms? I had nothing but cramping mostly at night. How are you not scared to test at home?Do you know who you transferred?

@Medicallyblonde Yey! Just relax and enjoy. Nothing can go wrong at this point. It won't be painful and will go so fast! Sending you the best warmest vibes!

Hello again, all! I've been active here earlier this year during my IVF. We're now back from summer vacationing and I'm prepping for September FET. We have 2 genetically normal hatching blasts (both boys), and we'll attempt to use one at a time.
I don't normally have cycle, so this is fully medicated.

I started Estrace on Aug 31st, twice a day. Then will increase to tree times a day on Sept 9th. The check-up is on Sept 15th, and if all is good, I'll start Progesteron suppositories and Medrol. Since I don't do well with needles, hopefully suppositories will work just as well. If all goes according to plan, transfer is Sept 20th, and pregnancy test on Oct 2nd!

Keeping hopes up. Good luck to all who're already in the process, or even had their transfer done already!

Hi ladies.  I took a very long (but needed) break from the infertility roller coaster.  My last failed transfer was in December, but we are back and ready to go again.

I'm actually late to the party.  My transfer was TODAY!!!  I am very excited and hopeful.  This was my 5th FET.  Hopefully it will be my last.  I still have two frosties though, just in case.

During my long break, my RE changed my protocol and then we did lots of testing.  They did the recurrent miscarriage testing and they did a lining biopsy to find out when I was receptive.

Long story short, my RE put me on a Femara day 3-7 and progesterone suppository protocol.  I transferred today and start Estradiol on Friday.  (And that's all the medication I am taking).  It feels very weird, especially since my previous protocols all involved some sort of needles.

Last bit of interesting news from my transfer today - the embryo stuck to the catheter and had to be reloaded and transferred again.  I hope this isn't a bad sign.

Good luck everyone.  I am excited to be here and get to know all of you.

    Lurking....

    @Christianner congrats on being PUPO!

    **TW**
I have a question for you, I've noticed that you had FETs with PGS normal embryos that either didn't take or ended very early on.... I have similar experience with my last two FET...

do you know what the purpose of the Femara? And the reasoning behind less medication?

im going to start prep for next FET and my RE is adding a neupogen injection and keeps everything else the same. In her mind though, it's probably genetic defects with the embryos even though they are PGS
    **end TW***

as for the embryo sticking to the catheter, I wouldn't worry about it! I guess it happens quite often which is why they check.

@prudence9-2 - My RE also thought it was genetic defects with the first couple, but then began to question that since we have had so many failed FETs.  She basically told me that it is next to impossible (at least VERY rare) to have so many (8) PGS tested embryos not work/have genetic defects.

Because of this, she wanted to try a new protocol.  She told me that this was a relatively new way of doing things, but that her partner had a lot of luck with it, especially with people like me that were having trouble getting the embryos to stick.  She also likes it because she has been able to ween patients off all meds entirely between 6 - 8 weeks pregnant.

I will say though, that she changed my meds to the current protocol and then we did a mock cycle so that she could biopsy my uterine lining to make sure that it was receptive.  She did two biopsies on back to back days.  We found that with this new protocol, I was receptive.

She told me at my follicle check that she was having great success with this protocol.  I am definitely hopeful, but we will see.  I'll definitely update with what is going on.

Good luck with your October transfer.

    Hi all.

I was scheduled for a FET on Tuesday 9/12 at my last lining check two days ago. At that time I had only done 5 days of Letrozole (no estrogen) since my baseline and my lining was 5.33.

I started Estrace that day (3x/day) and I begin progesterone tonight without another lining check. I've read a few places that progesterone kind of nails down the lining you've built up and it won't continue to build even if you're still taking estrogen. Is that true? I'm a little concerned (okay, terrified) that my lining hasn't grown enough and I'm starting meds that stop it in its tracks. Estrogen is supposed to grow the lining about 1mm per day or something, so I'd be in the 7ish range if I'm lucky.

    Anyone know how this works?

@Hopeful_mom I think I will take a home test the day of. Im really scared to test, I got so many Negatives that I can't take it anymore.

@Christianner Welcome to the board! Congrats on transferring a boy, 5th time is the charm o:) As I previously said, the eclipse and the stars gave us a good sign for the month of September. Its great for all kinds of surgeries, new beginnings and wishes to come true.

@Medicallyblonde ok, you won't believe it but I was googling the same thing. Not only that, I have allergies and Im scared to sneeze!

Please, everyone read below, so you don't have to go through my panic:

@sarcasticowl Welcome! I don't know much about this, but I bet your RE knows what they're doing. The lining should me at least 6 and you are super close to this number, Estrace will do the job quickly

    ------------------------------------------------------

Ok, girls who have transferred, what symptoms do you have? Im trying to find some, but theres just none, maybe some occasional cramping. No spotting. No headaches, nausea, vomiting. Nothing!

Crystal321 alright the time is no, so exciting best of luck!!! hoping all is uneventful and smooth for u!!  Sending u super sticky vibes!!!  I know its tough not knowing what to do the day after...if someone told me standing on my head would help u know i'd try ;)

Cinnamonn a lil cramping is good that means your lil pnuts are getting all snuggly warm inside!!  I like your post I swear every sneeze and cough would scare me!  Its so tough!

Christianner congrats on your transfer hoping this is your miracle getting all comfy cozy inside!  And look you already have a great story to tell :)  I'm sure you must've been freaked when they first told you pnut was stuck.  What is the Femara suppose to do?  I'm getting nervous i'm not taking everything I should be as I'm getting closer to D-day!!

sarcasticowl welcome and dont worry about the exact date - i think its an estimate and based on your lining will be the day, hang in there!

AND who ever mentioned being scared to poop...wait till you get that BFP it gets that much tougher.  I was terrified to just even (TMI) push a lil.

@Christianner welcome and congrats on your transfer!  Fingers crossed the 5th is it for you.  Sounds like you have been so much and hoping this protocol will do the trick for you.
@Medicallyblonde lol about the google poop search.  You can't be the only one if you actually found info about it!!
@sarcasticowl my RE did mention to me that lining should be set before starting progesterone but I can't remember if mine grew any more once I started taking it.  I want to say the last lining check (day before transfer) there had been some growth but I can't be certain.  Can you put a call into your doctor to ask? They must have their reasons for things but it's hard not to question everything!
@crystal321 good luck tomorrow!  Sending positive vibes your way.
I had monitoring appointment today.  RE saw fluid in my uterus.  He called it a "small" amount.  My two previous FETs I had the same issue but a little less (I think) and it resolved once I started progesterone and was gone by transfer day.  Maybe because it wasn't my doctor doing the ultrasound but he got me all worked up that it's no good.  I'm to stay on same dose of meds and start cetrotide tonight to prevent early ovulation and go back tomorrow for another check.  Would like to blame the meds for making me wacky but I think it's my baseline.  Haha.  I'm so anxious to get this going but would rather cancel and retry if the conditions aren't ideal.  I guess we will see how things go.

If I'm transferring a 5 day embryo and doing a beta 10 days later. Can I get a positive test with an at home test and when? When is everyone (if you are) going to test? How many days after transfer?
Also, another question for everyone doing the PIO shots. I took my first this morning and I thought it went really well. It didn't hurt anymore than the rest and I thought I had actually been sweating it for no reason.  However, as the day passed, the more sore it got. It hurts so bad now! I was thinking maybe it didn't go in far enough because my nurse said I could use a 1 inch instead of a 1 and a half. I couldn't find the short needles so I asked DH to only go in half way. Should the actual injection hurt as well? It didn't. I just want to be doing it right but I didn't want the needle to go all the way in. I guess if I'm not looking, it shouldn't matter. Just kicking myself, cause maybe it was done wrong. Hoping I still get the benefit .
@sarcasticowl I agree with cinnamon. I think if your re was concerned with the number at that point things would have changed for you. I personally don't know how it works. I hope you can find your answer or at least some peace with this.

@Crystal321 Good luck tomorrow! My your transfer go well!

@Mewkie Sometimes its better to skip a cycle, just to get the Better, or the Best cycle, as you don't want to waist your embryos. (Thats what I did). But don't start worrying for nothing now - first see what your doctor says!

@amynico It depends from person to person but usually girls start getting their results as early as 5th day past 5day old embryo transfer. I personally would not recommend testing early, as you might get a false result due to drugs and/or early timing. Here is something that might help to understand the process:

As for progesterone, The shots themselves don't hurt, maybe only the part when you are injecting the oil, if you go too fast. As you have noticed, the part that DOES hurt comes couple hours later and the injection site becomes very sore. I don't mean to scare you, but soon enough you will find your upper booty covered with browses and it will be even more sore then it looks. Like Im not able to seat in my car seat comfortably. But hey! Aren't we willing to get all the shots in the world just to get that beautiful second line? In regards of the needle, I think its ok if he goes all the way - you won't feel it either way, but if you have a chance ask for a shorter one at another pharmacy.
    ---------------------------------------------

AFM - Its 7 days past so If I take a HPT it will already show if it worked or not.  I have one in the drawer of the bathroom. But Im so freaked out that Im going to get out of my comfort zone (big hopes of having BFP) and there might be a possibility of starting all over again... I prefer to wait till Monday and spend this weekend calmly. How can you girls test at home?? Aren't you scared?

amynico this will be my first time doing PIO so i'll be interested to see what the others will say.  So many say it hurts more after so i'm sure you're fine!

As for testing i'm really not sure i tested 8dt as my beta was on the 9th day past transfer and it was a 3dt.  This time it will be a 5day blast as well...hoping that means we can see a positive sooner :)

Mewkie hoping things will clear up and everything will be perfect for your pnut to settle in.

AFM: i'm headed in for monitoring in a few hours lets hope all will be good to go!!

@amynico I second everything @cinnamonn said about progesterone.  It can be beastly over time!  I think I would have your husband use the entire needle as well just to be certain it's in the muscle.  I use the 1" instead of 1 1/2" too and there isn't a huge difference.  Firm massage right at administration site after injection can help as well as moving around.  You want to disperse the medication into the muscle so it doesn't "lump" up.  If you can go for a walk or even up and down the stairs to use those butt muscles it may help but unfortunately over time the lumps and bumps accrue and get very sore regardless.  Hang in there!

Curious, guys: How often do you see your actual RE and not a nurse or a NP? I've seen my RE for our initial consultation and ultrasound (same day), egg retrieval, hysteroscopy, HSG, and the time I had fluid in my uterus and they planned to drain it (he didn't end up doing it, just canceled the cycle). All other times, blood work and ultrasounds and protocols have been dictated by the NPs. The reason I ask is that @amynico made me realize that, unless they're checking in with the RE on call about the protocol going forward based on my ultrasound results, the RE might have made a different call...

Hi, have we met? My name is Overanxious Overanalyzing LOLOL.

@amynico I also would advise against testing early

@sarcasticowl I see my RE for most of my US appointments and he has done all of my procedures except the few IUIs that fell on his off days. I am not sure if that's the norm, but I just love my doctor.

ETA - the FET went well this morning! Considering I only got about 4 hours of sleep. Here comes the TWW!

No real symptoms here either other than POAS results. *TW* I took a HPT yesterday (4dp 5dt) and it was BFN. Took one this morning (5dp 5dt) and it was BFP. I'm numb.

Crystal321 Congrats on your FET! You are PUPO!!

sarcasticowl I hardly see my actual doctor but I know she reviews everything I do. My nurse will tell me she had her review things or that she will ask my doctor.

@sarcasticowl In my experience I don't see my re every visit. I do u/bw in the morning and after my re reviews it, I get a call from my nurse telling me what my re wants to do from there. I feel like even though I don't see him every visit, he does see me or at least my chart.
@JaeJayStark yay! Congratulations on the bfp!!! How many days do you have to wait before beta?

@sarcasticowl I see my RE pretty often but there are times I have a different doctor for monitoring.  She does review results and make the calls in regards to treatment even if I didn't see her that day.  I wonder if your NP's consult with your RE before making decisions?
@JaeJayStark ahhh!!  Congrats!  I understand feeling numb.  It's scary territory but today you are pregnant!!
@crystal321 I'm glad your transfer went smoothly!

I forgot to thank everyone for the response to my questions about PIO and testing. I didn't sleep well last night due to the soreness. Today I had my husband put the whole length of the needle in and it already feels the same as yesterday just on the other side. The positive part, is that he did it right yesterday! Thanks everyone!
Im so excited for next Tuesday to come but just to wait again to find the results. @Cinnamonn I can't believe you have a test and are strong enough to not use it. It would have been long gone in my house. Are you having any symptoms?
  • Options
@Mewkie It's totally possible that the time between my ultrasound and the time they return with a protocol is when they're reviewing next steps with my RE, for sure. Hadn't really considered that, thanks for waking me up a bit  :p

sarcasticowl LMAO!!!  no kidding!  So when decisions need to be made I check with the nurses on the weekends and always check that my RE is making the calls.  I talk to the nurses all the time, as I dont see my RE often unless at appt and procedures.  In all my 8 cycles she did a monitoring appt once my chance!  I email my RE with any other questions or concerns.

Mewkie thanks for the tip - I'm trying to make notes ;)  I think I might be taking my first one this weekend eeekkkkkkkk!

Crystal321 yay congrats on bing PUPO!!!!  I hear ya on the sleep I got 4 hrs not even straight through  :s

JaeJayStark so freaking awesome - i did not see that you took a test on the 4th day on your previous post - whoah mama!!  So exciting!  How many did you transfer again?

AFM:  So I worked sooooo late that I was late to my monitoring this am and my blood work won't come through till tomorrow...lets hope its on point at my lining is at an 8 woohoo...apparently I hear over a 7 is where they want you to be...so hoping things continue moving in the right direction and looks like next friday will be baby transfer day

@Hopeful_mom Keep us posted on the monitoring results! Don't worry, PIO sounds worse then It actually is.

@sarcasticowl  Don't worry, my doctor is out most of the time, but nurses can never give their opinions or prescribe/change medications and treatments without a doctor. My doctor goes through all my ultrasounds and bloodwork results every time, even though I never see him.
